X Factor shock: Judges will eliminate a quarter of the acts after first live show
Four acts will be axed from the X Factor this weekend – in a surprise twist for the show.

The live ‘finals’ of the hit ITV1 programme will begin tomorrow, with 16 acts – the most ever – making it through to this stage of the competition.

However, in a shock change of format revealed last night, a quarter of the acts will be eliminated on Sunday evening.

In another surprise development, there will not be a public vote this weekend.

Instead the mentors – Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos – will each have to send home one of their own acts at the finale of the Sunday evening programme.

Despite Kitty Brucknell assuring mentor Louis Walsh that she’d refrain from acting the diva, the X Factor contestant was seen covering her head with a pillow and refusing to be photographed by the paparazzi as she arrived for rehearsals at Fountain Studios earlier.

The 26-year-old performer, who recently admitted to Digital Spy that she felt “embarrassed” by her behaviour during Boot Camp, also forgot to put her shoes on properly as she was guided into the studio.

Amelia Lily debuted her pink hair while Misha Bryan could be hoping for brownie points from her mentor with a Kelly Rowland bag.
