The X Factor may not have generated a superstar act in its first season on U.S. television, but One Direction, a boy band from the U.K. version, appears ready to launch a new British Invasion.

After missing several dates on tour in the USA with his band-mates, Zayn Malik is firmly back in the swing of things with One Direction.

The X Factor finalists made a triumphant red carpet return as a five-piece band for the first time since Zayn, 19, arrived back in the States.

The Bradford based singer had to rush home last week following the death of his aunt but was welcomed back to the fold and continued the promotional tour with the other four members, last night, in New York.

With all the success they have had being an international boy band it is easy to forget that One Direction are still young lads.

Yesterday, however, the X Factor stars reminded fans and photographers of their age as they goofed around in New York.

The boys had performed at Radio City Hall earlier in the day and were heading back to their hotel when Niall Horan and Liam Payne began to mess around in their van.

There are goosebumps on her bare legs and the wintry showers have washed away some of the ink on her home-made Union flag poster, but she doesn’t care. ‘One Direction are in my city,’ she says, ‘which means that I am breathing the same air as them.’

She pauses for a moment to let this incredible fact sink in. Then she throws back her head and lets rip with a tonsil-waggling scream.

Aston Merrygold’s JLS.O.S
ASTON Merrygold won’t be following in David Walliams’ footsteps by swimming the Channel.

The JLS singer might not even be able to pick up a plastic brick from the bottom of his local pool after a video shoot nearly went very wrong.

The star got his foot caught on a camera cable as the band were being filmed underwater and fully clothed.

Lifeguards were called in to save him and filming had to be put on hold to give him time to recover. A source said: “Aston was really shaken up. He couldn’t untangle the cable and was underwater for some time.

    Who thought it was a good idea to launch Marcus with a Seven Nation Army cover?

    I really don’t like that every music act that inspires screaming girls gets the Beatlemania talk. It’s such a lazy comparison.

    I really wish ONE DIRECTION will make it BIG here in the US before the 2nd season of US X-Factor begins for added buzz to the show. Love this show Xtravaganza, couldn’t wait.
