david cook, David Archulta, Syesha Mercado

I thought this might be fun. TV Guide will be conducting interviews this week with David Cook, David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado and they’re looking for questions from fans.

Post your question in comments. Be creative! The TV Guide editors will be checking out the thread for questions. Maybe they’ll use yours. I’ll post a link to the video interview when it’s available next week.

  • sumidol

To David Cook – I know in the past that you have said that you and MJ would be working together. I can really see your voice blending well with Jason though – do you think that would ever be a possibility? I bet that you could work out something amazing for the two of you. A whole lot of Jasons fans shared the love with the both of you and would really enjoy seeing what their two favorites could do together.

  • Jolene

OK, I doubt he’ll be able to answer any of these, but the things I really want to know…

    To David Cook:

    1. Before you auditioned for Idol you finished a 2nd solo album, and never got the chance to release it. Is there any chance material from that album will be used on your upcoming record? If not, how do you feel about that album and the chances of it seeing the light of day in the future?

    2. Are there any plans to re-release Analog Heart or at least make it available again through Amazon or iTunes? Your fans love that album, and seen that it is already out there, it’s a shame there is no legal way to purchase it at the moment.

    3. Are you going to sing anything on the tour which you haven’t done on the show? Can you give us some spoilers?

Hmm… Yup, that’s what I have right now. Thanks mj!

  • ianamy

To Archuleta: What do you think that is special in your singing that inspires so many people like no others do?

To Cook: You said that you want to win an Oscar and a Grammy. Which category do you have in mind?

  • poporange

deleted-Could not think of a serious question and one for each because leaving one out would be unfair..

  • Shaw

This isn’t a question clearly, but Syesha and Cook look great here.

    A question for Syesha:
You sounded great with Donna Summers at the finale; would you ever consider doing a (relevant) take on disco for a future album?

  • annoula

Jolene, I love your questions. I hope they get asked.

  • Caffiend

    For DC:

How many serious romantic relationships have you had? Are you looking for one now?

    (No, not trolling. Just curious.)

    For DA:

I’ve watched tapes of you singing when you were 11 and 12, and you really belted out your songs. Do you think that contributed to your vocal paralysis? Has there ever been concern that all that singing for so many years would wear out your voice?

Do you expect to write your own songs, either now on in the future?

  • Lera

David Cook: I know Collective Soul was your favorite performance but could you list your top 4? What was your least favorite.

David Archuleta: You stated Imagine was your favorite, but what other performances you liked. What was your least favorite?

Syesha-You also stated that ALicia Keys song was your favorite, please name 3 other top performances in order. What was your least favorite.

If someone already asked those how about this:

If all 3 of you were asked to do a broadway show would you later on in your career and if so, which broadway show would you be estatic doing?

  • chachi

Jolene – those are definitely the questions I want DC to answer. Very good ones!

Archie: What genre of album do you see yourself making? What do you personally most enjoy listening to?

I am trying to come up with a question for Syesha, but I can’t figure out a way not to make “which is better, singing or acting?” sound mildly offensive because she was so pigeon-holed on the show? IDK

  • Lera

MJ all season I wanted to post but forgot password and every time I tried to get the password retrieved it said wrong user name. I don’t know what I did different this time but I finally got in.

Just wanted to thank you for your hard work. I’ve been reading since season 5.

Now my question for MJ is-

Since you’ve been watching American Idol and reporting on it, what contestant and or issue has had a permenant mark good or bad?

  • arlenicienta

To David Cook: Here in Latinamerica you have a legion of fans, we watched the program thanks to cable: Sony Entertainment Television channel, Im from Peru and Im wondering if you are going to come to Latinamerica to give concerts! I can assure you that you wont be dissapointed =) You are THE BEST! =)- Arleni Concha- Lima Peru.

  • GwendolynD

David Cook: Will you sing any songs from Analog Heart on tour?

  • http://blog.syracuse.com/idolthoughts/ foxydonna

DC: Has their been any discussion as to whether you’ll record as a solo act or if, like Daughtry, you’ll front your own band?

  • http://www.xanga.com/Cynarajane CJ

For any/all 3: During the competition, did you ever visit any American Idol forums or blogs to get a feel for what the fans were saying about you?

For David Cook: Having majored in graphic design, and having designed the cover for Analog Heart, do you plan on contributing your talents to future CD covers? Or is the singing/music/songwriting enough of a creative outlet to satisfy you?

  • Jul

For David Cook – What are you most looking forward to with the tour? Are there any specific cities (besides your hometown) that you are looking forward to visiting?

  • sumidol

    David, Syesha and David:

Have you ever visited MJSBIGBLOG.com, in particular and if so what do you think of it?

  • IGetCranked

David Cook – It was told that you were a bartender. Did you also play gigs there?

David Archuleta – What songs did you try to get cleared for final 2 night?

Syesha – You lost your voice during Hollywood tryouts. Did you have any more vocal problems throughout the show?

For the Davids.. Tell us anything humourous about the Guitar Hero commercials which I love btw!

Syesha – Aren’t you glad you escaped the Guitar Hero commercial? :)

  • Suzanne

David Archuleta–I’ve read you still have a vocal chord paralysis. Are you considering any treatments or medical response to that? Or are you concerned that addressing the paralysis could change the sound of your voice?

David Cook–You seem like such a down-to-earth, humble guy. During the 1960s group song, back in the first week of the competition, how did you feel about singing the line “Power Makes Me Feel Good?”

Syesha Mercado–Were you surprised by the Judges response to your performance of Fever after they applauded your performance of One Rock and Roll Too Many, which was also a particularly dramatic performance?

David Archuleta–Have you felt at a disadvantage with American Idol producers when negotiating over song choice or with record producers in working out your record deal because you are so much younger than the other contestants?

David Cook–Have you decided whether you’ll be a solo artist or you’ll front a band, like Daughtry? Do you think Michael Johns may collaborate on any of the songs on your CD?

Syesha Mercado–What’s your vision for the future? Are you still open for anything? Musical theater? R&B artist? Pop sensation? Television acting?

David Cook–Did you find it unusual, in the context of the competition, to be working with someone as young as David Archuleta? did his musical skill level seem incongruous with the reality that he is a high school junior.

  • Layla

Jolene, your first two questions are excellent! Really hope they get picked.

To David Cook: You have loads of fans in Europe already…does that surprise you?

  • ddlovesArchie

For David A- I love you! :wub_tb: I was wondering, what kind of girl would you be interested in dating? :blush_tb:

  • dogncatmom

    To any/all 3:

How was the determination made as to which songs would be recorded for sale on iTunes when you got to Top 5 and were performing more than one song on the show?

  • hollygo9

David Archuletta – Now that you have taken things to the next level, will your father still manage you in a professional sense?

David Cook – Up until now, you’ve written all of your own material, how do you feel about collaborating with other songwriters?

Syesha Mercado – You’ve been labeled the ‘broadway baby’ because of your theatrical performances – is singing or acting your ‘first love’?

  • IGetCranked

To all of them : Did the screaming Mosh Pit girls make it hard to do your performance?

  • Layla

To all 3: Do you get a percentage of the songs and performances sold on I-tunes?

  • joey7821

For the top 3: Have any of you got recording contract offers or have you signed with anyone yet?

David Cook – How did you react when you found out you were occupying the top 4 positions on the iTunes top 100?

David Archuleta – What kind of material do you think you will have on your debut album? Many say that you should take the Disney route, have you considered it?

Syesha Mercado – Out of all the mentors this season, which one was your favorite and why? Which performance do you think was your shining moment?

I can’t wait to buy all of your albums, so hopefully all 3 of you will release one!!

  • joey7821

For the top 3: If you weren’t in the Top 3, who would you choose to take your place out of the top 12, besides each other?

Syesha Mercado – After being in the Bottom 3 the first time, did you ever expect you’d make it to 3rd place? You probably won’t answer this but, do you feel the producers threw you under the bus by choosing ‘Hit Me Up’ for you?

David Cook – Do you like the coronation song that was chosen?

David Archuleta – How did it feel being the phenom throughout the whole competition?

For the Top 3: How much do you get paid for the tour?

  • ashchi

For David Cook: Since you’re a gifted songwriter, can you describe your creative process? Where do you get your ideas? How long does it take you to write a song? Do you have any advice for aspiring songwriters?

For Syesha Mercado: We saw how you lost your voice in Hollywood Week. What have you done since then to make sure it doesn’t happen again? How do you take care of your voice? Do you take lozenges or something?

For David Archuleta: I’m from the Philippines and I’m a big fan of yours. How does it feel to know that you have fans from the other side of the globe?

I’ll send in more if I think of any. :)

  • kathrynTX

David Cook, how about joining MENSA? Come on, become an official card carrying smarty-pants nerd with the rest of us! Of course, I volunteer to walk you through taking the test etc. Also, I’m inviting you to my local chapter’s monthly meeting, which is held at the Coors Brewery Hospitality Room. Yep, free hospitality too! Once you are accepted as a member, perhaps you would consider being the speaker one month! :-) Best wishes to you, David. I’m waiting patiently (hah!) for your next album and to hear & see you LIVE!

  • ashchi

Here’s one more for all three: Most of my favorite Idol finalists have influenced me to listen to the music they like. Name three artists and/or bands that you love, and tell me why I should check them out.

  • poporange

mj -please do not give thier dorky

I hear over the years about the stigma ,unastanble goals concerning sales attributed to American Idol and was wondering how you plan to deal with it and diffrientiate oneself from the rest out thier?

I hear also over the years comparison Idol contestant to idol contestantand was wondering how you approach a question by interviewer trolling for a sound bite either negetive towards another or unfiar comparison?

  • joey7821

Syesha Mercado – Do you think being the last female in the competition gave you an edge in the voting, once was Brooke was voted off?

Top 3 – Did any of you ever check things like DialIdol to see if you would be safe?

Syesha Mercado – Do you feel the judges were harsh on you, because you and Carly had great performances, but the judges disliked them for some strange reason?

David Cook – How did you feel after Simon called you pompus and arrogant and then at the finale he said you were one of the nicest guys on the show? Do you feel that Simon owed you an apology at the finale?

David Archuleta – How did you feel after Paula told you she wanted to squish you up and dangle you from her rear view mirror? Were you creeped out?

Top 3 – What is the first thing that you will purchase after the tour?

Top 3 – If you could do a duet with any former Idol contestant who would it be and why?

  • erennick

Here a some questions for all of them-

1)What was the hardest part of the entire AI process?

    2)Who was your favorite mentor?

3)At the beginning of the Top 24 (before anyone sang for the vote), who did you think was definitely going to go deep in the competition?

4)Who do you think the judges treated unfairly?

  • vagabond

To each – tell us a funny “behind the scenes” story about American Idol that we would not have seen on the show or heard about before.

If you could have lunch with someone famous (still living) who would it be and why? And where would you go?

    Who is YOUR Idol?

  • cookieftw

To all of them: It became apparent in the hometown visits that each of you was quite tired. With all of the demands on the final three, three songs, rehearsals, hometown visit, Ford video, rehearsing the group song and rehearsals for the finale, is there anything you think could/should be eliminated and/or changed, such as reducing the load to two songs, dropping the Ford video or group sing, to ease up on future final threes?

And to David Archuleta, because I’ve always wondered about the teen contestants: We all know that, in addition to all of the work of the others, the teen contestants have to go through three hours of tutoring on top of that. Having completed a season, would you recommend to the teens out there that they wait until after they’ve completed their educations to try out for this show?

  • SallyS

David Cook: Did you think your hair looked good before you got it cut during Dolly Week?

  • chromebrain

For David Cook: Being a self-professed word nerd, do you find it easier to write lyrics for songs? Which writers (literary or otherwise) influence you, and which ones do you try to emulate?

For David Archuleta: Where do you find inspiration for songwriting? What do you like writing about the most? What do you think furthers an artist’s skill level the most: experience, training, or natural talent?

For Syesha: What did you find more difficult: practicing the vocal aspect of a song, or trying to develop the performance aspect of it? If you had to choose between an acting career and a singing career, which one would you pick?

For all three: Which of the past Idols would you most want to collaborate with first, whether vocally or as a songwriting team?

  • dahirsh

To all of them: What song(s) did you want to sing that you couldn’t get cleared?

  • Chicago-sally

Syesha: Who is your stylist or do you do your own hair & clothing?

Cook: Do you like the comparison to Daughtry?

  • joannmski

Tell us about the AI schedule day by day during the season – when do you pick songs, rehearse, do press, etc.?

Did you guys have group meals? Any stories from the AI living quarters?

  • Layla

To all 3: Can you read music?

  • aeroz21

To David Cook: If you could visit and tour anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

  • s fl sizzler

    To all three:

What would YOU change about AI if it was within your control?

Where do you plan on making your home after the tour?

To David A: I don’t understand why you cringe when you hear your voice? (you seem to know that you are talented and your placement in this contest certainly substantiates that). You must realize how good your voice is or do you tend to hear even the slightest imperfection and always feel that it could have been better, apparently being your own worst critic. You should be very proud.

To David C: Your performances have a theatrical flair yet are very real and your voice is great … how would you rate your skills as an actor and what type of roles would you consider?

  • wfowfowfo

DC: Tell us how you ended up doing the entire vocal on the ZZ Top piece. Any specific part of the country your looking forward to visiting?

  • s fl sizzler

David A: Would you consider being the main character in a ‘Disney Channel’ TV show after the tour?

  • LadyHoneyBabe

David Cook: First of all, congratulations on winning AI. There are 2 songs you preformed on AI that I absolutely love because of the tenderness you emoted through their performance. Is there any chance of adding studio versions of Hello and The World I Know as bonus tracks on your upcoming re-release of Analog Heart (on Amazon.com)?

  • Garnetstar

David Cook: I know you have stated in the past that you were yourself during the AI experience, but everyone one is more complicated than they appear on a TV show. Do you have any concerns about your personality or music being whitewashed due to your title as American Idol?

  • thesheriff

David C – Can your brother really sing? If so, what are the chances of hearing you two duet??

Syesha – GIRLLLLL- your dresses were stunning!! Was that all your taste and/or who was helping out on that? Loved the peach one especially (from “Change Gonna Come”).

  • abbysee

David Cook, you said you want to win an Oscar, what kind of movie would you like to score?
David you played the game so well, did you have a game plan upon entering this competition or did it just happen organically. What does music mean to you?

David Archuleta, you say you were inspired by Tamyra Grey from season 1. Can you explain what that performance did to make you want to pursue singing? Was being one of the front runners from the beginning difficult to live up to? I particularly loved when you sang Angels. I know you’ve been singing that for a while, what does that song mean to you?

Syesha, I loved your singing from the beginning, what was the turning point for you in this competition? My son was truly impressed with your version of Change in Gonna Come, what other songs have inspired you when times are rough? What will your cd sound like?

  • joannmski

Lots of the AI contestants play instruments…how about an AI band piece together during the tour?

  • smartcookie

To David Cook — since we all know you’re a self-professed word nerd, what’s your favorite word? (Mine’s serendipity, btw. I highly recommend it!)

  • Lisa

To David Cook- You stated you would be putting out a *Rock* album. Could you tell us which direction your album is heading seeing as how there is such a large list of music genres derived from Rock? Thanks!

  • mike W

to syesha- did you ever feel like giving up after being in the bottom 3 week after week?

  • StevenD

    My question is:

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“In Hollywood Week who did they think was going to win the entire show and also if they could have anyone other then themselves win this year who would it be?à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

  • kthejohnster

    To DC:
Do you see yourself singing as a solo artist or will you have a band like Chris Daughtry for your first album?

    To DA:
People know you as the young one who all the little girls love, will the younger crowd be the main audience who will have in mind when making your first album? Also, will you have a song on your album duetting with Natasha Beddingfield since she’s your favorite artist?

    To SM:
Your performance with Seal was my favorite of the Finale. How was it working with Seal and Donna Summers? Which one did you like singing with more??

  • voteDC

    For David Cook –
    (1) Who was the first person that congratulated you over your mobile after you won (leaving SMS or voice mail doesn’t count)? I guess that person should be someone very close to you (definitely not other buddies from the AI nor your family as they were all there when you won). Let’s say your family doesn’t count ;-) .
    (2) How many hours of sleep did you have the first 48 hours after the winning? How many hours of sleep do you have per night since the winning?
    (3) Are your mom and Andrew going with you for the Idol tour?

    For David Archuleta –
What is the most recent book (magazine, newspaper don’t count) you’ve read? What is your most favorite book you’ve read?

  • kthejohnster

    All 3:
Do you ever check dialidol to prepare yourselves for a loss?

    DA:
How did it feel being the worst according to votefortheworst.com

  • latecomer

    To any of the contestants:

On the weeks that you sang more than one song, who decided which one would have a studio version on iTunes – you or the producers?

  • http://none SueSt

What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of and why?
What three words would the other idols use to describe you?
What was the most important thing you learned as a result of your idol experience?
What concerns you most about the immediate future?
If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be? why?
    Describe a perfect day…
Who is your best friend (either among the other idols or not) and why? What qualities does he/she posses?
What is your biggest regret about your idol experience? why?

  • Margaux

    All these questions are great!

for all three: Is there a song you’re recorded during American Idol that YOU would pick to be released as your first single? (In cook’s case that would read “you would have picked”)

Is there a song you performed that you wish you had recorded in the studio, and were not able to?

What is your dream opposite-sex duet? What would you sing with him/her?

  • http://www.xanga.com/hisaki_chan707 Hisaki

David Cook: In the midst of all of the press you’re still in the middle of, have you gotten a chance to go on that dinner date with Kimberly Caldwell yet? If yes, how did it go?

(… and really, I’m asking this seriously. I’m actually quite interested.)

David Archuleta: How was it for you to do the Guitar Hero commercial? You seem like a very sweet, humble, and shy person on the show (which is what people love about you, no?), so it was pretty interesting to see you “rocking out” in short shorts. Did it take some convincing for you to go along with it, or were you pretty excited to do the commercial to begin with?

Hmm, I’d ask the above to Cook too, but I already saw what he said on Leno, so okay. lol

  • texan4

    David A.

You always seem like such a nice and polite young man. Do you ever get mad or are you ever mean? When was the last time you yelled at someone? I just couldn’t picture you losing your temper or yelling at someone!

  • hollygo9

    (à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ and really, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m asking this seriously. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m actually quite interested.)

He did. There’s video of it on TMZ.

  • http://www.xanga.com/hisaki_chan707 Hisaki

He did. Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s video of it on TMZ.

    Really? Okay, thanks. :)

  • fannatic

    David Cook –

Obviously you like Mandy Moore and she feels the same with you. It would be nice to see you both together not only in a movie but also in real life. Have you work on that with your publicist yet? Also, what did you do with her autographed picture that you got from her since last Wednesday?

  • GeminiDolly

DC: The previous male winners have not had as much success. Do you feel any pressure of breaking that curse and achieving the status of a Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood? Also, what is it about you and your music that you believe will make you stand out and be successful?

DA: You seem very comfortable with ballads. However, what other style can we anticipate on your album?

SM: Broadway, Acting, Singing. You can only be a star in one. Which would you pick, and why?

  • Former_AI_Junkie

For DC: what’s worse – losing your hair or your credibility?
For DA: who is your favourite porn star?
For cannon fodder: what’s your name again?

  • goddessofpopculture

    For ALL:
    - Simon, Randy and Paula are always giving you advice. What advice would you have for them?
    FOR Archie:
    - You seem like a very innocent person. Have you ever done anything in your life that you would consider rebellious?
    - I absoultely loved your guitar hero commercial. any chance that we might get to see a sequel?

  • redge_dc

To DC: Congratulations on winning! I got a couple of questions:
    1. How much vocal training did you have prior to American Idol?
    2. What’s with the scarf in your back pocket?

    To DA:
    1. What songs/which musicians are on your iPod/iPhone/music player?
    2. I saw the First Impressions video. That was pretty funny! But we never saw what your first impression of David Cook was. So, what was your first impression of David Cook? Did it change during the course of the show?

    To Syesha:
    1. What kind of album do you want to make? What genre would it be in?
    2. I actually miss the Afro. Any chance you’ll go back to that hairstyle?

  • Margaux

To Syesha and Archuleta: During what week did it become apparent to you that Cook was a front runner? Was there any specific thing that he did that broke him out of the pack?

To Syesha and Cook: How did you see Archuleta grow over the course of the competition, as an artist and as a young person?

To Cook and Archuleta: When did it become obvious to you that Syesha might just well make it into the top 3?

To all three: Aside from the 3 of you, which contestant blossomed the most over the course of the competition?

  • J.S.G.

    To: Syesha

    Fever….WHY????

  • tampagirl35

    For Cook:
    1. You’re very comfortable in front of the camera and the camera loves you. Any interest in trying out acting?

    2. Once things settle down some, the tour ends and you finish your first record, would you like to go back to living in OK or MO or do you see yourself staying in LA or living somewhere else?

    For Syesha:
Congratulations on your engagement! When’s the big day? Do you have a dress picked out and if so, can you give us a description (we promise we won’t tell Hess about it!)?

    For Archuleta:
What are your favorite and least favorite subjects in school?

    For All:
Please describe a typical day for you after making the top 12.

  • http://www.myspace.com/phisig4davidcook Meeker

    David Cook,

About six weeks ago, I started a mySpace page devoted to getting your fellow brothers of Phi Sigma Kappa to help vote for you. There has been much success, as many of the brothers didn’t know that you were a Phi Sig.

I have yet to hear about your college experience at C. Missouri St. and especially how your fraternity experience impacted you concerning your life and this competition.

Can you please let the brothers know what you think?

Damn Proud (That’s the fraternity motto),
Meeker – OD 752 – The University of Alabama

  • Readytogrumble

I have no business being here. You’ve all presented some fantastic questions, many of which are more substantial than anything my puny brain could conjure. I’ll give it a shot anyhow….

    ALL:
Given the fact the three of you were on a television show, a show with an immediately identifiable theme song, it seems only fitting that each of you should have your very own signature tune as well. What song, based on title alone or composition as a whole, best expresses who you are?

    DC:
You’ve done some considerable songwriting in the past, which has likely helped you appreciate the process for the joy, pain, and catharsis it brings. With that said, name one song in history you wish you could take credit for writing.

    DA:
You have stated time and again the importance of music in your life, and its impact undoubtedly shows in your performances. What is the most prized album that you own and why is it so significant?

    SM:
You struck me as one of the few female contestants who had an affinity for fresh, modern music, even if you weren’t always afforded the opportunity to perform the most current of songs. What new artists have you discovered lately, whether they are new to you or new to the music world?

As an aside, I’d like to throw some major love MJ’s way. I’ve been lurking since the end of season five and have enjoyed watching your site evolve since then. It’s an undertaking, I’m quite sure, but you do a stellar job maintaining control over this colossal beast. I hope you know just how much the fans adore you and your incredible efforts. Kudos!

  • awilliams

    For David A.

You mentioned the possibility of college in one interview.
Aside from music, have you any thoughts about what you might like to study?

  • Grammie Kari

For Jason Castro: Do you plan on taking some vocal training lessons after the tour?

Oh wait, Jason isn’t on the list. My mistake or maybe TV Guide’s mistake?

  • mimiw

Question for all but especially David C-
Is there a song you didn’t get to do on the show that you would’ve loved to have done?

  • elainelibra

    For All :
In the top 12 this season, there were 3 Davids ( Hernandez, Archuleta & Cook). How did all the other contestants refer them to? Did they have nicknames for each David?

    For David Archuleta :
    Can you speak spanish?

  • Thea

    For David Cook:
    * hom much of a say will you have on what goes on your album? It’s your name and your face, after all…

    * I have already read many of your fans being a bit afraid celebrity might change you- you know, all the nonsense that we see every day in tabloids.
What’s your plan? What will you do to try and have a “normal” life?

    * I was forced by crazy restrictions to download your pre-Idol (amazing, BTW), and Idol, music for free. How can I repay you? (also: please make sure your music is available also outside the US when released, and you come see us in the UK!)

    For everyone:
    * what was the funniest thing that happened to you (or you witnessed) during Idol?

    * what was your favorite performance by the other two?

DC: About your college years — what made you decide to switch from Theater to Graphics? Do you think that your theater background helped you with all the group numbers and staging? I think it may have slowed you down in the beginning on Idol. You had to break through and show genuine emotional connections to the songs and your audience to come up with Hello. (You mentioned this yourself in an interview — Simon had said you had no charisma).

As a side comment — many of us truly enjoyed your good-natured participation in all things cheese on Idol.

  • aeroz21

I have one more! If that is allowed??

To David Cook (again): Did you play guitar on any of the studio tracks you recorded during American Idol?

  • Suzanne

David Cook–You’ve lost some weight since the beginning of the season, and you look great! Was this a planned weight loss, or did the pressure of the show help shed a few pounds?

  • wgdpink

to All – What is the weirdest question you have been asked in an interview?

  • voteDC

To DC – know that you have three tattoos. Any stories behind those tattoos? I am esp. interested in the bleed heart on your chest ;-) .

  • teedubs

David Cook – What is going on with you and Kimberley Caldwell? Please say “Just Friends” so I don’t have to wear black all week. The forecast calls for sunshine and warm temps.

David Archuletta – You’re so young, so talented and so so sweet. What is one thing that we’d be surprised to know about you? Do you have any bad habits? Don’t say “Gosh, I don’t know.” You have to have at least one!

Syesha – Was there any strategy in adding sensuality to your performances and skimpy-ness to your outfits towards the end? Do you think there is any shame in using your sexuality to appeal to the male audience? For the record: I am female, and I thought that you DID look very classy, but that there was definitely an additional element to your game.

  • voteDC

To DC – Are you dating Kimberley Caldwell?

  • constructionsam

    For David Cook -

    1) Did you ever think of playing any of your own music during the competition? You were allowed to showcase that you could play guitar, but were your permitted to showcase that you wrote your own music and lyrics?

    2) You passively mentioned that you had to “get rid of some baggage” in order to be more emotionally available during the early stages of the competition. Can you expound?

    3) How did your date go with Kim Caldwell?

    4) Not sure if you read the hysteria after the Idol Gives Back show, but the net was ablaze with rumors of you and Lacie Schwimmer. She had her hands on your hips and the rest was history. Was there ever fuel for that fire?

  • TPLAW

David Cook: You mentioned during an earlier interview that you would name your first post-Idol album “Eta Carinae”, a very luminous star that is expected to become a supernova. Is that still your plan for the album title, and can you discuss your interest in this particular star?

  • WithU4Ever

    David Archuleta

Is it true you wrote the lyrics and music for “Dream Sky High” and “Don’t Tell Me” around age 12 (both are great, by the way). Is there a possibility of doing a current version of them and seeing them on your album?

  • cheese

    For David Cook:

    1. So, Jesse McCartney revealed to Rolling Stone that he and Ryan Tedder will be writing with you for your upcoming album (hey, did you know that?) Are there any other upcoming collaborations in the works that you can talk about? Since all of your pre-AI songs are so personal, lyrics-wise, how do you feel about the prospect of collaborating in the songwriting process in general?

    2. If you could have only one of your pre-Idol songs on your major-label debut, which one would it be?

  • Margaux

    for David Cook:

In your American Idol Extra interview, you said that when you watched yourself on week 1 “Happy Together”, you did not recognize it, you said “I didn’t know who that person was”. If the guy who performed “Happy Together” watched a video of your performances in Top 2, would he recognize you?

  • nick

    for david cook:
on your upcoming album do you provide your own drummer and guitar player and other insruments or does american idol provide it for you?
also are you thinking of includng anybody to duet with, like michael johns?

How important is your Mormon upbringing in your life? Does it affect your song choices?

  • Colleen

    for David Cook,
How about writing an American Idol Judge’s Critique Guide? A reference manual to help the judges come up with some new ways to describe the Idol performances after the top 24 are selected. Happy, peppy and less offensive.

Use a Thesaurus and write the reference guide in BIG Print for easy reading. (Like a Cheat-sheet) on a 11X14 piece of paper, lamninated in plastic. It will look like a kiddy placemat and lay flat on the judges table under their Big Red Coke Cup.
Positive Comments in column one, Neutral or Helping comments in column two and negative comments in column 3. Color code it to make it easy to read.

Replace some of the over-done phrases, like Randy’s, “Molton Hot Lava Bomb”, “Dude, You can sing the Phone Book” and “Dog, That was just alright for me.” with some intelligent , creative responses.
My favorite comment Paula made to DC was, “You’re standing in Your truth.”
I hated when Paula told Syesha. “I Don’t think it was enough to keep you in the competiton,” after an amazing performance.
Congrats on the win! You ROCK My Ipod!
See you in Glendale on Tour July 1.
    Colleen

P.S. WOW! Did you see your Analog Heart CD sold on ebay for $835.00 today? Partial proceeds going to American Cancer Society. Any chance you will re-release this independent CD again? Very Awesome!

    For david cook:

Michael John’s album with The Rising has some great rock songs like Cradle. Any chance you’ll collaborate with him on material for your album?

  • fannatic

    David Cook –

What’s really the story behind “Dare You To Move” by Switchfoot? We all know that song was on the movie “A Walk To Remember” starring Mandy Moore. Were you thinking of your crush when you sang that song?

  • Layla

    for David Cook:

In your American Idol Extra interview, you said that when you watched yourself on week 1 à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Happy Togetherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ , you did not recognize it, you said à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know who that person wasà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . If the guy who performed à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Happy Togetherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ watched a video of your performances in Top 2, would he recognize you?

What a great question! Hope it gets chosen.

  • kat620

David Cook- I’ve read that you were about to release a second solo album before you went on Idol. Is it going to be released?

David Archuleta- Do you think you would have enjoyed the American Idol experience more if you had waited a couple of years so that you didn’t need school?

Syesha- Did the producer’s song choice of “Hit Me Up” during your final week competing on the show make you think that they wanted the finale to be David vs. David?

  • Layla

MJ- when is this interview and what format does it take? Is it a video showing them answering the questions? Rollingstone is doing one toonext week but the questions have to be in video form.

  • neseyil

    For David Cook

You seem rather intelligent and sophisticated chap, apart from being a very gifted artist.
Do you think it is smart to give the impression you might have an affair with a tabloid girl who is obviously way below your league, at the very beginning of your career -seriously- as a musician? While everyone was waiting for whom are going to be the first song writers/ composers you will meet, for instance?

I am certain Simon would say absolutely, utterly wrong.

  • psnax

(In case this hasn’t been recorded yet)…

David Cook – You were particularly notable throughout the competition for your original arrangements of a number of your performances. Can you describe the process you go through to come up with the arrangement? Where does the inspiration come from and how did you and the AI band/vocal coaches work on putting it all together in a short space of time?

  • Terrias5

    For David Cook

Was there a defining moment on the show for you? I mean, when you hit that last note and just knew that you truly were in the game? What wast it and why? And did it change how you approached the subsequent weeks?

You are totally outstanding – cannot wait for your cd!

    For Everyone-

You guys have such amazing voices (Cook, congratulations, Archie, I LOVE YOU, and Syesha you have such a pretty voice!). Did you think you were going to be in the finals during the top 3 week? Were the results of the top 3 week a surprise to you?

    And for both davids-

Were you upset when you didnt recieve a Mustang for being in the top 2? They usually always give those types out, but they didnt this year. I know I would be mad. :rolleyes_tb: I LOVE YOU GUYS

  • allisynk

yeah…it’s probably been recorded already, but oh well.

My question, which I’m 99.9% sure won’t get asked, is (for David Cook):

If I were to challenge you to a best-of-3 Guitar Hero Showdown, would you accept? You don’t have to play with your pants off if you don’t want to…

  • alessandruh

    For all three:

Would you consider going on an international tour after the American Idol Summer Tour? :smile_wp:

What is your all-time favorite album and why?

  • dragonus456

    My questions for David Cook:

When are you gonna release your next single, and what will it be when you release it?

On your next album are you planning on making any HEAVIER songs, like more hard rock oriented?

Who would you like to collaborate w/ on your next album?
