Great to hear that Idol is still going strong : )

  • Valentin432

I was already expecting the numbers to be up from last week because all shows seem a little up but the buzz around the shocking elimination helped for sure too.
With the final adjustements, this should put Idol at 4.3 or maybee higher and that would make idol Thursday the second best rated show of the week behind Idol Wednesday.

Off Topic, I can’t believe a repeat of TBBT draws more viewers than a new original of Grey’s Anatomy or The Office.

I agree. I was expected an increase in ratings because of the shock elimination & shows have increased this week. Also, with the amount of talent left it was hard to figure out who was going home which probably helped with the ratings.

Grey’s Anatomy has had low ratings now for years. The show & the writing has just become predictable, old, & not worth watching anymore. The Office is definitely not as good as before with Steve Carell. TBBT is one of the CBS shows where repeats can beat new shows from The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, House, Bones, etc. NCIS repeats actually average 11 million total viewers.

I can’t believe a repeat of TBBT draws more viewers than a new original of Grey’s Anatomy or The Office.

That is pretty crazy when you think about it.  I’m glad to see AI’s ratings trend a bit higher from last week.  That is good news.

Well that’s cool. Good on them.

The reason why idol rating improve than last week cause TBBT aired a rerun. If TBBT air new episode, Idol will match the same rating or down from last week result.

Note: Even though TBBT is a rerun, it beat DWTS result episode. TBBT at the top of their game this season.

  • hcpoirot

I never miss any TBBT new episodes and will gladly Idol episode later or just visit here to know who is out.

I stop watching “the boring and soap opera alike Grey Anatomy and not very funny The Office after Steve Carrel out” anymore.

This will only encourage more trumped up drama.

Awesome that even the lower rated results show beat the performance episode of the voice. Go idol!

To be fair, Idol is only up from a very low week.
Overall, the ratings are falling at least as sharply as last season (as they traditionally do until around top 4). Last year, the result show ratings went from 6.7 (final shows results 1) to 6.4 (final shows results 6). This year, it went from 4.9 (final shows results 1) to 4.2 (final shows results 6).

  • Jordan Seltzer

Still not good ratings for the buzz they tried to create.
    And TBBT was a rerun.
    Idol needs an XF makeover!

    Idol needs an XF makeover!

Why would you re-make yourself over to be like a show with lower ratings?

    At least try something different.

  • Valentin432

Last year result show ratings decreased a lot just after that (6.4 to a 5.8), we’ll see how Season 11 fairs next week.
As far as performance shows go:
    S11: (5-5.7)*100/5= -14%
    S10: (7.3-8.1)*100/7.3=-11%
    S9: (6.9/8.1)*100/6.9=-17%
    S8: (8.2-9.5)*100/8.2=-15.6%
    S7: (8.8-11)*100/8.8=-25%
    S6: (10.2-11.7)*100/10.2=-14%

I guess this shows that the finalist have done a good job keeping the demo number so far.

Here are AI’s final upward adjusted ratings from tvbythenumbers.

The Office, American Idol and the 9PM Big Bang Theory repeat each were adjusted up a tenth while Scandal was adjusted down a tenth among adults 18-49 versus Thursday’s preliminary numbers.

    8:00 FOX American Idol 4.3/13 15.81
