The TWITTER SAVE comes to So You Think You Can Dance!
Beginning tonight, SYTYCD fans have the opportunity to save one street dancer and one stage dancer from elimination through a real-time vote using Twitter. When host Cat Deeley announces the bottom six finalists and they perform, the SYTYCD Fan Save hashtag #Save(Contestant First Name) for each will appear on air. Fans across the country will have a short window to Tweet their Save votes for one Stage and one Street team member. Once the window closes, immediate results will be revealed by Deeley. The Twitter vote will save one dancer from Team Stage and one dancer from Team Street. Before the end of the show, the judges will send home one stage and one street dancer from among the remaining four dancers.
Those fans who are not able to watch So You Think You Can Dance during the East Coast or central time broadcast can follow @DANCEonFOX on Twitter to find out which contestants are in the bottom and when the voting window is open. Viewers can see the results of the Twitter vote on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE when it airs in their markets. For more information on the Twitter save, please click the “Vote Info” tab at fox.com/dance.
Welp the Twitter Save arrives to ruin another competition reality show? I don’t like how the twitter save affects the results on The Voice and American Idol. It puts too much power into the hands of a small group of people on social media. I wonder which of the Top 20 dancers will be saved over and over and over again… We’ll be live blogging the first LIVE performance/results show tonight at 8/7c PM.
Don’t forget: Tomorrow night, FOX celebrates 10 years of So You Think You Can Dance on an all-new special airing tomorrow, Tuesday, July 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. This one-time-only special will feature new performances by some of the series’ favorite dancers and choreographers, as well as present stage and street routines and musical productions from the last ten years.
