The Davids – Worcester MA

I just drank a huge orange slurpee energy drink from 7-11. That was probably a mistake. Here’s the first of my Worcester videos.

What a mob scene at the show tonight! New England loves them some Idols, they surely do. I mentioned in comments, that Archie got such a big reception, he just stood there, a bit awestruck while the crowd kept cheering. And Cookie would just smile at an especially big ovation. At one point, he said he didn’t want it to end. He called the crowd awesome.

Also, Cookie threw at least 2 picks out to our section, and I thought there was going to be a riot. Fans were combing the floor trying to find them. Unfortunately, I think the clean-up crew swept them up tonight.

The other thing–I was in the second row in section one. NOBODY in the row in front of me stood up. Nobody in my row stood up. The row behind me stood up for the Davids. There were a couple of Jason fans behind me who stood, but that was it in my little corner of the arena. The rest of the place? They were going nuts.

I’ll have more later on the others, and the death of the Mavid dance. Boo hoo. But right now, I got to get some sleep!

    They sounded great :) .. Is DC sporting *tommy used to work on the docks 2.0* hairdo :P .. This was the first video that i can actually hear the crowd sing magic rainbowz (getting misty eyed in here).

    Those really are good videos, nice and close up. Thanks MJ! DC’s arms are really looking good, lol. Not sure why I hadn’t noticed that before, lol. Again, probably due to the good close up video! And little David, he is definitely a cutie patootie if there ever was one. Good crowd there too, very into it!!! I always enjoy the videos!

    wow those are fantastic videos! excellent audio too! I have to give it to these guys, they’ve been singing the same songs for over a month now but their performances belie that fact…Kudos to the Davids and the rest of the Idols!!

    BTW I like Cook’s camera would anyone know what it is?…so compact

    Hey, just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who complimented my recap from the Hartford show. I would have posted my gratitude in that thread, but it seems to be dead now and the Worcester thread has devolved into a very distinct type of organism from what I can see.

    But, anyway thanks for the kind words. At some point during the review, I wasn’t even sure if I was 100% behind everything I was saying, because sometimes when you get into that “writing zone”, you almost start to “masturbate” to your own text– attempting to see how witty, insightful, persuasive (etc.) you can be, and the “honesty” of your content becomes secondary. But, upon rereading my account, I believe I did basically call everything the way I saw it.

    Topic: MJ, your videos are incredible! Please tell me you recorded the rest of DC’s set. Also, he appears to have been in excellent voice last night, better than at my show. And praise (–insert name of your particular deity/ object of worship here–), the pocket scarf appears to be dying a slow but inexorable death.

    Great videos mj! I didn’t see much shakiness at all in these. (Read Worcester thread.) Actually some of the best I’ve seen from the tour yet!

    I admittedly don’t ususally watch DA’s vids, but his “Stand By Me” is my fav from his set. He’s really doing a wonderful job, seems very comfortable on stage. I just loved the squeals when he pointed out in the audience during, ‘beautiful girls’. LOL!:)

    DC is really doing justice with TOML. I love it when he carries and drags the mic around. :o hmy_tb:

    Re: the Mavid dance – why are TPTB so afraid of a bit of spontaneity? I mean, it lasted at most 15 seconds or so, right? Makes no sense to me.

    why are TPTB so afraid of a bit of spontaneity?

    I would say they are afraid that it will get out of control because they get bolder with every concert. MJ truly startled Archie a week ago also (which was fricken funny). I read that MJ said that both of them were going to go talk to the production team. I hope they know how to sweet talk!

    Great videos MJ. I usually don’t watch DA’s videos either. I just don’t love him quite enough to put up with the shakiness and horrible sound that most videos are. I watched his Stand by Me. He truly is a great singer.

    DC seems so much more comfortable now to be singing TOML than at the beginning of the tour. I guess it being all over your TV helps the credibility factor.

    Booooo to TPTB for no more Mavid dances. They were the high point of my day (yeah I have a sad existence). :mad2_ee:

    Great videos, MJ! I didn’t get any from my show so it was great to re-watch some of the best bits of the night. I have to agree with Notcem…David C. sounded much stronger in Worcester. I guess I was so distracted by the fact that he was mere inches away from me that I couldn’t focus on his singing :wub_tb:

    I just read elsewhere that even the two David’s acknowledging each other at the end of PDSTM was cut too? If so, that is ridiculous.

    Truthfully, what can they do to them if they shimmy a bit as they pass each other. I say all of the top ten should rebel:

    Chikeze and Syesha should find their afro’s from the guitar hero commercial and do the bump

    Brooke and KLC should line dance

    Carly and Jason should body surf the crowd

    Archie and Rami should slow drag (that would make some heads explode and make good pictures too)

    and for the piece de resistance……..

    Michael and David belly dance, in full costume!

    Seriously though, this is ludicrous. I don’t watch many Cookie videos, but I loved the Mavid dances…..sux!
