Here’s the press release from RCA Nashville:

NASHVILLE, TN – FOX’s The X Factor Season 2 winner and Syco Music/RCA Nashville recording artist Tate Stevens announces today that his debut album is set to release on Tuesday, April 23. The self-titled album is helmed by renowned Nashville producer, Blake Chancey and will include three songs that Stevens co-wrote alongside Ashley Gorley, Joe Diffie, Wade Kirby, Phil O’Donnell, Shane Minor, and David Lee Murphy.

Stevens shares, “For someone that has dreamt of recording and releasing music for over a decade, to say I’m excited is an understatement. I feel like the songs we selected for the album are a real reflection of my personality—they range from fun-loving to serious and everything in between. I’m so proud of this album and can’t wait for the fans to hear it! ”

The album’s lead single, “Power Of A Love Song,” was released to country radio earlier this month. Written by Jeremy Bussey, Bradley Gaskin, and Marcus Franklin Johnson, “Power Of A Love Song,” encompasses a traditional country sound that solidifies Stevens’ authenticity in the genre as he makes his highly-anticipated debut. GAC raves that “the ballad showcases Tate’s baritone voice,” and Roughstock adds, “This is the kind of song that helps set Tate Stevens apart from the pack of newcomers. His voice is a voice which rivals quite a few top stars with more depth and emotional punch.”

Wait…season 2 winner album out before or maybe a month after season one winner??? That’s weird

  • hdw121

I like Tate Stevens very much, but this really frustrates me as a Melanie Amaro fan, too !

  • Last Laugh Lane

    Eww..

  • blackberryharvest

They aren’t wasting any time with this one! On the other hand, is Carly signed yet? Would be kinda surprised if she wasn’t due to her being TCO.

  • blackberryharvest

I think her date was pushed back again, so it is unknown when her album will be released.

  • Caro3278sweet

They aren’t giving his single much time to grow on radio before releasing the album. That to me signals the label is just going thru the motions. Make $$ on his fans and call it a day.

  • irockhard

Eh well, Tate is really generic and I never expected him to become the next country superstar. At least he’ll get a few years of touring under the radar from this.

  • girlygirltoo

When is the official adds date for the single? I’m looking on Mediabase, and only one US monitored station has added it (KBEQ in Kansas City; a country station in Canada has also added it); 10 US monitored US country stations that haven’t added it gave it spins last week, but none more than 3 times.

I didn’t hear that they’d pushed Melanie’s album back again; last I heard it was still coming out in March

  • richiek88

Or if Melanie’s album will be released at all, they don’t care or have no idea what to do with her.

  • tripp_ncwy

As far as Melanie, I think it was the fact that Walmart Online pulled the posting for her cd release date.

  • genius13

I don’t see this as being particularly good for Tate either…to me it feels like they’re like: single out..album out..we did our part…….k bye

  • Karen C

I think that one reason that they are able to get Tate’s album out sooner is because he is well defined as an artist, and I believe is cowriting some of the songs.  With Melanie, they had to figure out a direction to market her in, the pop songs that they tried didn’t work for her.  SHe was much more in a R&B direction on the show.

March 11 is the official date for Tate’s single to be released…and y’all are right, that’s not a lot of time for his single to build…

It may not be good, but what do you think is better? Tate getting a rushed single out (that’s gotten some good reviews) and album out or Melanie who had two flop crappy singles and most likely isnt getting any album out? I’m not a fan of hers but *everything* with how they went about her career after her win has been total shit.  I know Tate is going to be opening for Alan Jackson for some upcoming show of his so that at least makes me think theyre attempting to get him out there as opposed to Melanie who was pretty much locked up for months and allowed to fall off radars.

They aren’t wasting any time with this one! On the other hand, is Carly signed yet? Would be kinda surprised if she wasn’t due to her being TCO.

I never thought she was TPTB’s TCO. She was a fan favorite but IMO Emblem 3 was the real chosen one.  I posted at the time about an interview Simon did with Good Day NY right after the finale and I predicted Carly wouldnt be signed based on what he said. It was pretty obvious actually. He said he thought there was a place for Tate in the country world and he deserved the win because he was a hard working family man who was at the age when he needed this, he raved about how excited he was to work with Fifth Harmony, and Carly got a pat on the head with some words about how young she is and theres plenty of time for her to realize who she is as an artist.

Power Of A Love Song goes for adds 3/11. Still no signs of Sony sending Tate out on a promo tour. But they’ll probably have him going around meeting with radio people at CRS this week.

That being said, they’re just dumping the album out there before it’s too long after his win. Holler If You’re With Me didn’t make the country t50 downloads after the Grammy commercial and I don’t think expectations are very high. This is just about getting some product out there and taking whatever sales come. Maybe there’ll be an effort with radio down the road.

They won’t sign Carly. She never was really TCO. She’s good TV, “little girl singing big”, thats why Simon took her so far, but she isn’t convincing at all singing love songs. She probably wouldn’t succeed as a recording artist.

Simon probably would rather that his groups would have won or that Cece Frey could sing, cause they were the real marketable acts this season.

Tate will do well. This will likely be his only major label album and I suspect it will go Gold. Judging by the lack of competition announced at this point, he will likely hit #1. He may have a couple top 40 hits and fade.

Melanie will see her album released during the final season of X – Factor (unless it turns into a surprise hit this year) and she won’t be heard from again. With the holiday release I’d say the album does 150 – 350k max and she is dropped. They let her ship sail by focusing on her image and trying to get her to lose weight.

    Country album release dates…

    Tim McGraw (2/5)
Luke Bryan (3/5) — Spring Break re-release (only 2 new songs)
    Blake Shelton (3/26)
    Thompson Square (3/26)
    The Band Perry (4/02)
    Eric Church (4/09)??
    Brad Paisley (4/09)
    Kenny Chesney (4/30)
    LeAnn Rimes (4/30)
    Lady Antebellum (5/07)

There is competition at that point…only strange that Tate’s album is being released “off” schedule…the 23rd is a Saturday…so I guess he could sell enough in two days to hit Country #1 if there’s no other big names the previous Tuesday?

    Here are some others…
    Ashley Monroe (3/05)
    Shooter Jennings (3/12)
    Kacey Musgraves (3/19)
    Maggie Rose (3/26)
    B.J. Thomas (3/29)
    Gretchen Wilson (4/02)
    Willie Nelson And Family (4/16)
    Tate Stevens (4/23)

My guess is Kacey Musgraves takes that week…

  • elliegrll

I doubt that Tate’s album will get the promo for it to sell more than 10 to 15,000 copies, if that.  I’d be surprised if he gets as much promo as The Voice winners have gotten.  And like them, he doesn’t have the level of popularity of most AI contestants.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Wel, at least the press release is longer than 3 sentences. lol I never think that it’s a good sign in a press release promoting the release of a debut album when there are no quotes from any label executives about the artist.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“There is competition at that point…only strange that Tate’s album is being released “off” schedule…the 23rd is a Saturday..”

    April 23 is a Tuesday.

I seriously had to take a second look at the photo to know that it is really Tate Stevens and not Jason Aldean in his “My Kinda Party” album. The Aldean connection does not end there. JOE DIFFIE as a co-writer! Party like its 1994. :p
