So You Think You Can Dance Pool!

Yeah, those two were the weakest performances of the night. I think Paris might be leaving. She’s kinda of cannon fodder, no? And she didn’t make an impression last night.
I like Tony, i know he’s not the best and he has a long way to go… but it’s so great to see him fighting for it. The thing is, if he wasn’t that good in his style last night, maybe he really doesn’t deserve to stay compared to others.

I don’t know who will be leaving, honestly. Those two performances were weak (I liked Paris and Tony’s routine though), but I also wasn’t into the cha-cha. Jonathan and Karla didn’t have screentime really, but got decent comments, so I don’t know which way it will go.

I agreed with the judges that Paris and Tony’s hip hop was lacking in terms of really attacking the movements. They didn’t end them sharply like that style of dance needs, it just kinda was a little lazy. And I’m no hip hop expert by any means, but I noticed it.

Man, I must say after the high of making the Top 20, it sure would suck to be out in the first week of the competition.

I put my points on Janette and Vitolio. I didn’t think either of them were that bad, though. I may change before tonight. Kind of at a loss. I think Tony and Paris might get the votes. I kept forgetting who Janette was, and if she has to dance to save her life, it could be difficult since her style is salsa.

I think right now it might be more about being forgetable than being the worst.

Tony is definitely hanging by his fingernails, but there has to be a reason they featured so much of him in Vegas. Vitolio, OTOH got no Vegas love. No screen time = cannon fodder.

Asuka does not deserve to go home; but then again I don’t think any of the girls do after last night. Somebody is going to get a tough break.

I agree totally with your assessment of these 2 couples MJ. They were definitely the 2 weakest in my book but it’s anybody’s guess who goes.

Isn’t Jeanette with Brandon though? Since they are being voted as a couple, I would be surprised if Brandon Bryant hits the B3 this early (unless he is this season’s Will/Danny), but his following should keep them out of there. Some dancers have fanbases that appear to carry their partner to the Top 10 (Twitch with Kherington, Lacey with Kameron).

Actually, I don’t know either, I am just guessing since he has auditioned before, had exposure from previous seasons (including being rejected last), and lots of air time during Vegas week.

I am pretty sure he had bit of a fanbase at IDF, but now I am drawing a blank. Maybe I am just assuming since he is one of the few dancers I can remember. lol

Don’t they get the bottom 3 couples and then the judges can save who they want and then if a couple is split up they re-team with the one who lost a partner? I thought that’s the way it has worked in past seasons. I might be wrong. I agree that Asuka and Vitolio were the weakest. LOVED the Bollywood routine!

I like Brandon (if that helps answer if he has any fans) but i think he got sort of forgettable routine and genre.

Maybe the bottom would be: Asuka & Vitolio, Caitlin & Jason, and Ashley & Kupono (its hard to look hot painted white).

The judges seem to not like Tony (but Cat Deeley does), so if he’s in the bottom 3 he might go home. I think it wold be worth it to keep him in.

This is HARD!! I don’t know who to pick. They all brought the A game last night. What a great show. Not a bad routine really. Just less wonderful ones.

My bottom three pairs would be Tony and Paris, then Asuka and Vitolio, then Karla and Jonathon. I know they liked Jason in the Bollywood number but I thought he was a little sloppy. I believe the difficulty of these routines was very high compared to the same week in other seasons.

I do believe that I’ll be going down in flames on this pool too. I have no clue who to pick!

I agree with your bottom three pairs, weese. For no reason really, I chose Vitolio and Paris. I think Nigel is going to want to save Tony for the “growth arc” and Asuka just because she’s cute.

Honestly, I think Nigel also knew the shortcomings of Tyce’s choreography and I don’t think he’d want Asuka to go on that piece. But, those are just guesses!

I don’t get why Tony is supposed to be the eye candy, when Jason is adorable, Jonathan and Vitolio are also very, very cute, Brandon has the best body I’ve ever seen, Ade is pumped, too, and Evan is adorable in a different way. If I had to pick the stereotypical “cute boy,” I would’ve thought that was Jason, honestly.

I also feel really sad for Vitolio and his back story. Yeah, I know — I shouldn’t be making voting decisions based on that. But to come from where he comes from and be that good a dancer is amazing. I want him to get more weeks and more choreography from someone who isn’t Tyce.

I just signed up for the pool. Put my points on Vitolio and Auska, even though I have NO IDEA who will be going home. They were definitely the weakest, IMO last night, although they could have just gotten stuck with shitty choreography.

Smartcookie, I completely agree with you re the cute boys. I don’t think Tony is all that much to look at (never mind that his dancing is weak–even the judges told him that, when they announced their top 20–remember Nigel telling him that he was the one they were going farthest out on a limb with, because his technique was so weak?) But I digress. I too think Jason is the cutest–what a blazing smile!– and the others you mention also out-do Tony in that department. He seems like a likeable kid, but I don’t get the comments from judges about him being “the cute guy in the competition.”

I’m excited for the pool, I’ve never done one for sytycd before! I spread my points around a bit but I think it is going to be Paris and Jonathan going. I think Karla would be a good partner for Tony, and I think they want to keep him around for a bit.

Plus, Nigel erroneously believes her to be super sexy. I think Asuka is the most over-rated and weakest dancer out of the women – but I have no doubt that he will save her and sacrifice a more worthy competitor. I’d love to be wrong though.

I picked Kayla and Vitolio for this week but who knows what the judges will do. I’ll probably crash and burn too. LOL. I don’t think they’d get rid of Vitolio and Paris simply because that would put Asuka and Tony together, and she’s basically the shortest girl and he’s basically the tallest guy. I do think the judges take that into consideration in part.

I’m not making an overall pick until next week though. I want to see them in another style, especially since so many of the couples last night danced a routine that was in the style of at least one of the dancers. I think in the long run, versatility matters.

And yes, I think Brandon has a fanbase. Whether or not it’s a voting fanbase, I dunno. I do see him as the Danny/Will of this season tho. Brilliant dancer but not quite as personable as some of the other dancers.

It’s much to difficult to choose an overall pick because there were several that we knew nothing about. We don’t know much about their fan bases either.

MJ, I love the excitement this year over SYTYCD!! I wonder what Idol performances they will feature for their music selections this year?

Hmmm. If both Tony and Jonathan land in the bottom, and they deserve to, I think one of them will be leaving. They both kinda sucked even though they were dancing a piece in their wheelhouse, and they are probably the two with the least amount of training. Nigel does like his untrained dancer growth arcs, but either Tony or Jonathan could serve that purpose, so they don’t need to keep both of these guys around. Vitolio is a wildcard. He’s got that heart tugging backstory, and he obviously has some skills, but he was really off his game last night. His solo has more of an opportunity to wow, though, than Tony or Jonathan, and I think Nigel might take pity on him for dancing that piece of crap Tyce choreo. Since latin dancers typically have lackluster solos, I’m leaning towards Jonathan leaving.

I’m a little scared for Ashley and Kupono who deserve to be in the top three, but America might not have taken the time to wrap their brains around Wade’s freaky little world and the skill with which the dancers brought it to life. I hope they have kickass solos prepared just in case.

As for the girls, unless Tony’s tweeny fanbase pulled their butts out of the fire, I think Paris is going home. Could be Karla, though. I think Nigel will save Asuka so she has a chance to dance something in her specialty.

There was so much talent on that stage last night I couldn’t decide who to vote for – and now I’m in a pool where I have to figure out who I think everyone else is voting for? I’m an idjit.
