I just listened to the song on YouTube and, godstrikemedead, thought it would be better done by JLo.

Well, can’t say I watched much of the show. I was flipping back and forth between Smash and Castle, and Castle was more captivating. The 2 scenes I did catch I found to be completely ridiculous. The bowling scene reminded me of Grease 2 “let’s bowl tonight” DUMB. Kat’s “single” Touch Me was awful as well. I guess after reading these comments confirming what I saw from the snippets, it’s not worth going online and watching in its entirety!

I always fees so alone as the only person around here that is not totally in love with Megan Hilty. She’s good and I don’t hate her or her character, but she doesn’t strike me as OMG!!! SUPERSTAR!!! The reason to watch!!!!  The perfect Marilyn!!!! I always think her Marilyn is all vavavavoom and big singing, not enough of the other quailities.

Anyway, this show casts its net too wide. Too many side plots. Keep the drama confined to the play and the people involved in bringing it to Broadway. Minimize the families, etc if they are not directly connected to the play. They are also careening through the soapy drama storylines at a breakneck pace.

That said, I do enjoy watching this show.

I still like the show but last night’s episode was kinda lame. The best parts were shown in the commercials. lol! I like Kat’s (Karen’s) song. And i still love Derek, jerk and all. Dev is an idiot but kinda hot. And that whole Michael & Julia thing was stupid. He decides NOW he loves his family more. The dude just wanted to get laid. LAME! Hopefully next episode brings it!

I don’t even like the song but I actually thought the number was done really well and was an
interesting plot point in the episode. It got a little soapy with the
“you went behind my back” drama but the idea of trying to bring in a pop
writer for a Broadway musical was really interesting and even though the song itself didn’t have to do with Marilyn nor does it really suit a musical, the overall number did put it into a good context. It also put more
emphasis on the question within the show of how they want to represent
    Marilyn in their musical.

Have all the shows already been filmed for Season 1? I’m wondering if they can fix what so many people are complaining about before they start writing S2. They abruptly put an end to Julia’s affair. I have to wonder if they made a last minute change because so many people hated that plot line.

I’m also trying to figure out what is wrong with Karen’s character. Maybe people are getting tired of the midwestern girl being too perfect = boring. She also doesn’t seem right for Marilyn, and her number was straight up pop and zero Broadway.

I’m wondering how they can make Karen into more of a Broadway performer for next season. They also need to give her more of a personality. I’m kinda surprised a hateful character seems to be the most loved one (Ivy). People are hating the assistant, but maybe cuz he isn’t as charismatic as Megan.

Also, more Broadway numbers, please, but not so much in a bowling alley. Maybe trying out Marilyn numbers, and throwing some out (for the plot) because they don’t want them in the play.

    Yes.

Personally I can’t stand Ivy – not fond of that type of singing at all, the personality, and tired of her hystronics with everything about Karen.  I did think everyone getting their panties in a wad about the song was stupid.   However, it is like a soap to me and I am not looking for something completely realistic.  I want entertainment and it does that.  I love Kat’s song.  For some reason, I did get the connection to Marilyn with the visuals of the cameras and people reaching for her on a bed – I mean really, Marilyn was quite busy in her life.  Whatever.  I am always on the lookout for something upbeat, great tempo for the gym and a great voice helps.  Not much of that playing on the radio these days.
