On the heels of winning Breakthrough Video of the Year for his “The Trouble With Girls” music video at last night’s CMT Video Awards, Scotty McCreery graduated from Garner High School today.

The Season 10 American Idol winner tweeted early this morning before the ceremony took place, “Ive enjoyed these last 4 years.. wouldnt trade any of them for the world. ?#iamatrojan”.

Scotty managed to keep his senior year at the North Carolina high school normal–attending choir concerts, attending football games, pitching baseball games and going to his senior prom amidst his busy schedule as an up and coming country music artist.  Come fall, he’ll be enrolled at North Carolina State University.

Congratulations to Scotty for all of his accomplishments in the last year!  Watch Scotty graduate from high school below.

Actually I am struck by both his immense singing talent and his level-headness, humility and sincerity.  And I think most of his grandma fans could care less that he dressed casually for the CMT Awards; in fact, I think most of them feel that his attire was just fine. At least I know for sure that this Grandma feels that way! Congratulations Scotty on a stellar performance as an entertainer and as a student.

I don’t want to make what Scotty has achieved into something phenomenal when it’s not. But he did very well for a celebrity.

With all the time he spent on the road to pursuit his career and all the red-eye flights he got, he showed his unwavering commitment to education, despite whatever other people say (FYI, many say he commits career suicide and doubts his attachment to music career).

Surely, he finishes high school like any other normal teenager but he doesn’t just barely do it. He is a distinguished honors graduate (very good grade!!) and he was accepted in all universities he applied for. It’s no joke for someone juggling his career and education at the same time.

And he arranged his schedule to play baseball. Even his coach didn’t know he could contribute well to the team like this. Instead of making himself a joke by playing badly or just play some games for fun, he practiced hard, pitched effectively (and made NBC headlines twice) and showed people he is not half-hearted in doing anything: career, education, sports.

He still managed to attend normal high school activities with everyone: prom, choir group trip in Washington, choir festival, church singing. graduation party with friend at a normal Bojangle store. Basically, he tries to be as normal as possible. Not showing he is too big to sing with his school choir at all and doesn’t make it all about himself when attending school activities.

The kid is living happily. He is a successful new country artist while still being able to make great memories of his final school year, which can never be retrieved back again.
