New Details Emerge About Christina Grimmie’s Killer

New and disturbing details have emerged about Kevin Loibl, the gunman who killed The Voice singer Christina Grimmie on June 10 as she signed autographs following an Orlando performance. After, Loibl turned the gun on himself.

The details, culled from a police report sent out to press, are chilling and indicate that Loibl deliberately set out to kill Christina and himself.

Loibl’s father admitted his son “lived like a hermit.” According to police, Loibl covered the windows of his bedroom with aluminum foil due to an aversion to light. But, he had not been diagnosed with a mental illness.

The police also interviewed the gunman’s “only friend in the world,” co-worker at Best Buy, Cory Dennington, who said Loibl spent the majority of his time watching Christina on Youtube, and that he constantly monitored her social media.

“He (Loibl) made it clear he watched everything having to do with her,” Dennington told police. As been reported before, Loibl’s family and Dennington both confirmed to police that the gunman had recently lost weight, got Lasik eye surgery and had hair implants to improve his appearance.

Loibl confessed to Dennington that he believed Christina was his “soul mate” that if there was a God, he saw it in her. He said she changed him–made him see the world differently.  When Dennington pointed out Loibl’s illogical thinking–the two had never even met–the gunman became angry.

Dennington became so concerned about his workmate’s obsession with Christina, that he reported it to Best Buy supervisors. The supervisor described Loibl as “socially awkward, detached.”

In their last conversation, Loibl told Dennington “I love you brother” and that he “was tired and ready to ascend.”  Loibl’s phone was encrypted, and before he went to Christina’s show, he destroyed his computer’s hard drive.

Christina’s brother, Marcus and her father told police his sister had not received any threats from fans before the shooting.

As far as the crime is concerned, Loibl was carrying two guns and had a tactical knife strapped to his ankle the night he shot Christina,  according to the police report.  She was shot four times at close range, once in the side of her head and three times in the torso. Before the crime, Loibl stood in the back of the venue, The Plaza Live, and watched her performance. An autopsy ruled Christina’s death to be a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds. Police have closed the investigation.
