Kirster & MJ (I know you like Rascal Flats) I think this migh interest you a little:

Do Those Rascal Flatts Come in a Size 7?

Multi-platinum country rock act Rascal Flatts is working with JCPenney for a broad marketing and promotional deal, which includes in-store promotion, tour support, merch and TV ads.

All in all, a deep collaboration that hits the spot on a number of counts: It’s a good brand fit between the retailer and the act, the band gets great exposure from the collaboration, JC Penney gets a totally relevant multi-platform integrated endorsement from a band that mirrors its values, and, most importantly, fans/consumers get a stack of added-value content, merchandise and connections.

    More on link..

Thanks Kirsten. Love to see the upward arrows. Yay for Idols on radio.

Quick question – Has Kristy Lee Cook’s 15 Minutes of Fame disappeared? I no longer even see it on the country cable countdown shows. Curious since I don’t track country spins. It’s like she really came and went. Sad.

  • weareallinnocent

Funny to seen Kelly inching up under Cook on HAC. I was wondering how long (short) that would take…. :-)

    Thanks for the numbers!

LOL. Kelly is totally taking Cook DOWN, baby. I’m not messing with her or that song of hers. It slays everything in its path. I think it took some lessons from Magic Rainbow.

Nice to see so many idols with bullets! Say what you want about that show, but it certainly gives people a shot at a real career.

It’s dead as a doornail. Barely any spins at all. Really sad, but Arista never stuck with her long enough to make it even a mild hit, and once she was dropped radio stations dropped the song.

I actually heard this at a restaurant over the weekend. My husband, an idol hater, had to point it out to me. He said “this is that idol girl Carrie Lee Cook’s song.” I corrected him and he said he only knew the song from CMT, which he watches occasionally to catch glimpses of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

I’m really curious to see the HDD numbers today and tomorrow. Last week was great for DCTR and it looks like the whole chart is coming down this week, so I’m really interested to see how much of a decline there is and where it ends up. It might go down in sales but go up in chart placement. We’ll see.

  • http://jgrollersellshomes.com juliegr

Glad to see the progress for WRIR on the chart. Thanks Kirsten!

  • sma11ie

Any HDD numbers yet? I keep checking this thread =P hoping someone will post some news. (I miss the old left bar that tells you which threads have been commented on recently…)

  • Jolene

(I miss the old left bar that tells you which threads have been commented on recentlyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦)

So do I. I know it was causing some site problem, but it’s so much harder now to keep up with anything other than the very top threads… Oh well.

ETA: Yeah, HDD is sure taking its sweet time. At least this week we’re likely to get Monday updates, which we didn’t get last week.

  • SashaB

Thanks for the KLC info. Sad. Oh well. Maybe she’ll just go back to horses and the like.

  • Jolene

At least this week weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re likely to get Monday updates, which we didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get last week.

Or maybe not? I’m starting to have my doubts.

    Hang in there Little D!

When will we find out about radio adds? Jive had that big ALTNOY ad running this week, I’m thinking they’ll give ALTNOY 1-2 more weeks. If there are still not substantial gains I’m guessing they may drop their support for the song and go to plan B. Wonder if that includes the Miley duet as a single *shudders*.
    Hey whatever works…. :innocent1_tb:

  • IGetCranked

So the vocally challenged can help out the vocally gifted. :confused_wp: Radio is odd.

^^^ LOL These days you don’t have to be vocally gifted. All you have to be is famous and you’re good.

Looks like DC’s going platinum next week. Hope he hangs onto top 30, just cuz that’d be nice. And here’s to hoping he can at least maintain this range until the new single(s) pick up in airplay come April (wow that sounds so far off!).

Yikes. I’d be afraid to see his numbers if he didn’t get AI pimpage last week.

  • jpfan

I think the Cook return to Idol will be sooner rather than later. When is the next single being released? They should get that one out asap as well.
Of course, the best promo of all is getting the boot song on Idol. Anyone know what it will be this year? S6 had Daughtry, S7 had Ruben so it’s becoming a trend to use Idol related music.

  • sma11ie

^^ jpfan, word is Come Back To Me has a 3/31 add date on HAC, not sure about other formats. Apparently, DC himself told a fan that Bar-ba-sol is getting a simultaneous release to Rock, but so far, no signs of an add date yet.

Rumor is that DC will be back on Idol mid-March but I think that’s fans’ conjecture because that’s when he has a few days off tour…? Who knows about the boot song. I guess they could force CBTM to work… but I dunno.

Trina, I’m with you on that yikes– I’m worried about DC sustaining these numbers from now until April if the single is that far off.

  • Trina

DC did some interview and the article said he would be back on Idol either mid March or early April. I took that to mean those are the best days to work an appearance in amidst his tour but they weren’t quite sure of the date. The video is said to be shooting in LA 3/17-3/18 so depending on what the deal is with the shoot and the exact location he could logically appear that Wednesday night.

My problem with him getting these “Idol boosts” is the trend seems to be he gets these big boosts, then huge drops the following week. I rather weekly consistent sales.

  • sma11ie

But Trina, the drop this week seems consistent with the rest of the chart. Seems last week was a good week due to Valentines Day and the Grammy’s, and this week was a drop week. I’m not too concerned with his drop percentage this week– I’m just worried he won’t stay somewhat stable in the weeks to come until April.

He’s actually been consistent on the weeks without the boosts. In the 2 weeks before last week, he sold 16-17K, and now on his first full week back without pimpage, he’s back in that range. I think that IS his consistent sales. That is not a bad place to stabilize.

Actually, since “idol boosts” historically don’t seem to work for everybody, the fact that he keeps getting them is a good thing. He really shouldn’t get boosts this high from even minimal pimpage. Its kind of unusual.

  • progression

The only artists who charted above Cook this week that were also in the top 10 the week DCTR was released are Nickleback, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift. That is not bad company.

He was pimped though. That’s sort of what I was trying to get across in my first post but I didn’t phrase it well. Last Wednesday they showed an interview on the AI Experience red carpet and part of the Carrie duet. That was enough to boost him a good 30 or so notches on iTunes so it did something . So my point is it’s quite possible he would have had an even bigger drop if he wasn’t shown on AI at all.

  • EmmaJK

iTunes album sales are a very small drop in the bucket at this point. The difference between #30 and #60 is maybe a couple hundred sales. Yes, the pimpage did boost him slightly, but not a lot.

Right now his only real promotion is a 5 month old single. He’s doing great.

Oh, I get it Trina. Wait, did he get a boost after that? I thought that he got a boost the week they played TOML and he went on GMA. I don’t remember anything from last week. Its all kind of running together in my head right now. When were the Grammys again? LOL. I’m so confused.

But anyway, I get your point now! Hmm.. there’s no way to tell how big a boost that really was, given Itunes’ small market share. I agree its something to watch. Lets see how he does next week.

Cookie has such angsty (and a little greedy lol) fans in all of us, doesn’t he?! :-) In a week where his percentage drop is comparable to that of the Big Machine Taylor Swift, I’m good.

Though I totally understand the inclination to consider AI bumps and such, that IS part of his promotion. To try to speculate what sales would be without promotion seems sort of odd to me. AI has 25 or so million (or more) viewers on any given day, which I assume is the reason so many *established* acts agree to come and perform. Promotion. :-)

Plus, if HDD numbers hold, moving approx. 6,000 units this week gets him his Soundscan platinum sales number. Whoohoooo!!
