Finally, more Michael Johns music!! I am loving this album and just purchased the whole thing (might as well get the instrumentals since there are 10 vocal tracks). So good. I am really proud of Michael…this should be the start of great things to come.

Loving the Brooke White duet “Life is Okay”, “Hold On”, and “Never Coming Back”–such a perfect classic rock song.

    Thanks for posting MJ!

I downloaded Don’t Look Down as soon as it was available, I stayed up late! There are some really great songs by Michael Johns on there. I’m so excited to have new music from him. It will hold me over until his first solo album comes out. Congratulations Michael, Jeff Foxworth, Rye Randa and Brooke White, wishing you much success and sales!!!

The duet with Brooke is all kinds of awesome. FYI, Michael wrote the duet, “Life is Okay”. This is the message he sent MJO.

Don’t you just love that mcm! He’s a man who knows what he wants and figures out how to get it done, that’s for sure :grin1_ee: The song really did come out well and seems as though that’s the most popular song purchased on the album so far.

  • Grey Skies

This album is fantastic! Michael, Jeff and Rye did an amazing job. You should definitely give it a listen.

Thanks so much for posting this, MJ!

Been listening to the tracks on his Myspace page. I also thought this is pretty good. The songs cross over genres and the sound’s pretty diverse but made cohesive by MJ’s voice. For me, I hear old school, blues/soul from stuff like Here We Go, Come On, Come On, Bless My Soul; bit more modern rock from You are Here and Real Life; and more melodic fare from Life is OK, Hold on and River of Life. And though most of these were written pre-Idol I think more than a few fit on current radio. I enjoyed them all. I don’t mind artists mixing it up. And that voice. His range and versatility really impress me. Seems smart for TRP to release this now then gauge which type of songs appeal to most fans when finalizing the songs on MJ’s solo CD and choosing singles.

I downloaded it as soon as I got home from work last night(Pacific time)! Michael’s voice sounds so diverse on this! Sometimes you almost can’t recognize him, then you here that cool rocker voice he had during his The Rising/Film years, and them the gorgeous bluesy voice we all love!

I’m really glad(and a little surprised) it’s already starting to chart. Hopefully this will help garner more fans for Michael.

  • 2dogs

There’s a few nice songs on this so I’m glad I bought it. I think Life is Okay is still my favorite. I wish it could have been released as a single with a shot at radio play.

Michael John’s has excellent taste in duet partners.

What’s this documentary about anyway? Anybody have the scoop?

Whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s this documentary about anyway? Anybody have the scoop?

This is from the Editorial Review at Amazon.com:

“Travel the globe with Shaun White, as he tries to top his Gold-Medal winning snowboarding performance at the Winter Olympics and continues his quest to finally win X Games Gold in skateboarding.”

  • SpenserJ

Muchas gracias psyche. LOL – I’d totally forgotten who Shaun White was. But, now I remember – he’s the red head snowboarding guy! That sounds like a movie my son would love.

^Don ´t they call him the mechanical Tomato or something like that lol… I like him, he appeared at the girls next door show, teaching Kendra how to snowboard… he is really funny..

  • Fran

^^^ I think I read somewhere he is called ‘The Flying Tomato’ because of his shock of long red hair and he looks like a flying tomato as he is coming down the mountains :) Amazing the things you remember when you are an MJ fan..lol…

Michael has a bulletin out and he mentions the Inauguration which is happening right out….

Hi everyone Happy Inaugauration Day. How great is it to be alive for this historic event. Not being from America as you all know, it just proves to me again why America is so amazing. The ability to grow, to change to prove to everyone there is hope in the world.

I am also very excited today as the Documentary soundtrack i co wrote with Jeff Foxworth and Rye Randa, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t Look Downà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ came out today on Amazon and ITunes. Please stop buy and give it a listen.

My own album is still on track to come out in March which ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m so excited for everyone to hear. We really did make something special and unlike anything out there right now. Staying true as to why so many of you became fans to begin with. I have met and listened to so many people over the last 9 months who are just desperate for something different than what they hear on radio right now. Hopefully, hopefully we did just this.

Thank you so much again for all the support you give me and 2009 is gonna be fun!

Brooke gave more info about the soundtrack and the duet

    from her myspace

Up next, well so let’s talk about this little duet “Life is Okay”… okay, so a while back, around the end of the tour actually Michael Johns was talking about this soundtrack he was working on for this Shaun White Documentary. And one day he picked up a guitar to show me this song he wrote that he thought would make a good lil’ duet that kinda fit my style and asked me if I was interested… I thought it was really catchy , and really nice of him to ask me, so of course I said, sure! A little while after the tour, he called me up to remind me about it, I hardly knew the song, but we went into the studio, I learned it and with in a few hours we put down the vocals. Shorty after I got to hear the master, I showed it to my family and they loved it, but it wasn’t ready to be released yet. Quite honestly I wasn’t exactly sure when it was going to come out, or to what capacity it would be used. So with the craziness of everything over the last few months, it had kinda slipped from my memory. Then last week I was surprised when I recieved several comments and messages about how much everyone was loving “life is okay”… then I found out that it was released on MichaelJohnsOnline.com. I was SO excited to hear such a positive response from everyone. I know you all have been patiently awaiting new stuff, and I have been unpatiently waiting to show you new stuff… so in the meantime, it is super cool to have this original duet with my talented Austrailian buddy, Michael Johns for you all to feast your ears upon. Supposedly there have been a few people in the southern states who have heard the song on the radio… woohoo! This is excited, so if you love the song, request it and let your local stations know your into it! You never know… Also, I believe as of yesterday, you can now download the whole soundtrack on itunes!! So if and when you actually get done readin’ this ridiculously long blog,
    go get it!

  • Qcloud9

Yes, go get it! The Don’t Look Down Soundtrack is great, I purchased it on iTunes & I love it! My absolute favorite song is “Real Life”.

  • maracaibo

My favorites is “River if Life”. What a great song. “Life is Ok” is amazing too, of course.

I would also recommend purchasing “Hold On”. Great track.
THose three have a very modern sound IMO.

  • hardkandy

Michael Johnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s has excellent taste in duet partners.

    Most definitely. Haha.

We don’t have iTunes store and the Amazon mp3s are not available here in the Philippines either. Just my luck. I really wanted to buy Life Is Okay.

  • kbr

I woke up this morning to see Don’t Look Down at #11 on the Soundtrack charts for Itunes! I think those are outstanding results for Michael–oh I just wish it would get to the top 10! Anyway, with very little promotion this album seemed to have a strong impact on its first day of release.

I wonder if Michael and TRP records are going to look at the results and decide to do a little publicity for this (since there was basically nothing other than having Life is Okay featured on MJO and hi myspace bulletin). I think it would be worth a little bit, there are clearly songs on their that have struck a chord with Michael fans, Brooke fans, and who knows maybe even Shaun White fans!
