Seriously, I’m blushing here.

A big thank you to Richard Rushfield of the Los Angeles Times. He just posted the 20 questions I answered for his Idol Tracker blog. He twisted my arm a bit and got a picture too. Bonus! Or not.

Richard Rushfield, as most of you know, covers Idol for the LA Times. Once part of the Times’ Show Tracker, Idol news is now featured in it’s very own blog called Idol Tracker, where Richard will be posting daily missives on everything Idol. Don’t miss it!

I first started reading Richard’s on-the-scene re-caps during Season 6. His reports didn’t merely detail what happened on the Idol stage, but captured the Grand Drama that is Idol–noting emotional nuances missed by the cameras. He writes about Idol with an idiosyncratic passion that sets him apart from the rest of the Idol bloggers.

Answering the questions was great fun. Well, OK, I’ll admit there was a little bit of angst involved, but in the end, yes, great fun. Again, thank you Richard! I am totally honored.

Great interview, mj! It was a fun read.

  • Barbariba

Congratulations mj! You have definitely arrived!
This is the first site I go to for any and every thing AI! And I love reading your(and others) views on the Idol goings on.
The interview was a great read. Your wit came through loud and clear.

  • tinawina

Well, all I already said this in the headlines thread, but it bears repeating… congrats mj!

  • SashaB

MJ, fabulous interview. Intelligent, snarky, and cogent answers. Yay! Congratulations. I am so happy that you are getting some of the long overdue recognition and accolades. Awesome.

  • Lisa

Congrats MJ! You were awesome! I will have to add this to my bookmarks right beside the MTV round table! My main reason for coming here all these years is two fold, the info of course but also your snarky wit which I love.

    ETA.. Great suprise!

Loved that interview! I’m too am glad that you finally got the recognition you truly deserve.

    Congrats mj! :)

  • mary111

Congratulations MJ!!! This really is the best place (and most interesting) for all things Idol related. Thanks for all you do!

  • tinydcfan

Yay, Mj!! What a fun read that was! And can I just say: way to hold your own against the mighty Freemantle! :thumbup_tb:

  • sleepyinsomniac

Kudos MJ! I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this than you. You definitely provide the best AI content for us AI watchers, especially for many of us who live outside the US. Congratulations.

  • KathyH

Kudos to you, MJ! It was a fun read, too.

  • itsalleternal

Here’s to the real new American Idol! :king_tb: :thumbup_tb:

Great interview there! Take that, 19E!

Last month, MJ’s produced the biggest scoop of the pre-season, putting “Idol” beat pros like myself to shame, when she posted a leaked memo from inside Fox detailing the forthcoming changes to the juggernaut.

    Who knew???!!!

In retrospect, that’s pretty hilarious, considering there were all sorts of press conferences and interviews afterwards. Hehe.

    And this (lol):

And as far as the wild card is concerned, I don’t think the judges have any business handpicking contestants for my top 12.

  • itsalleternal

One thing is for sure – we have TPTB running scared.

  • movin2thabeet

MJ, Terrific that you’re getting recognized for all your hard work making this blog such a great place. Great interview!

  • cookcricket

mj, this is so awesome! Congratulations! I only started lurking here at the end of season 7, but have to say nary a day goes by that I don’t at least check out your sight. (Unless I don’t have access to the computer.) You’re movin’ on up! Oh and as others have said, fun read!

  • AZIdolFan

Congratulations MJ!!!!! I didn’t realize you started the blog in season 5 when I started coming here. I thought you were around before that. You certainly have built up quite the reputation. WTG!!!!!

  • Rosalee

    Congrats again, MJ! :clap_tb:

  • LK08

Congratulations MJ! .. and we finally get to see what you look like! :biggrin_wp:

  • jersey

Congrats, MJ. Ah, the days of haloscan are a distant memory!

ETA: Ok, I just went and read the article. LOL at the Constantine mention.

  • itsalleternal

    From haloscan to household name!

  • ealbino

    Congrats MJ.. :thumbup_tb:
I have been visiting your site for years! :thumbup_tb:

  • gigglesmo3

    Congrats MJ!
I started lurking here in September. Can’t remember what brought me here, but the number threads & charts got me hooked. Then I went into the archives to check out the posts during the season. I’m addicted to this place. I lurk at many AI blogs, but this place is my absolute favorite(so much so that I have delurked).

I’m glad MJ is getting the recognition she deserves.

  • Lera

MJ is a star! MJ can I have an autograph picture of you? *giggle* I’m your age too and I tend to agree with your answers during that interview.

Hey, we both love this cheesy show and I thank you for spending all your time. It’s worth it girl!

Hope 2009 brings nothing but the best for you MJ.

    Lera

  • cookmerized

MJ, you freakin rock! I am not worthy.

  • tierbee

Yay MJ! Lord knows you deserve some recognition… I can’t imagine how hard you work putting this all together so we can get our daily (cough, many times daily) dose of Idol addiction ;) . Thank you!!

  • Sarah

Wow, smart AND good looking!! Congrats on your deservedly rising profile, MJ. I got swept up in AI only in season 7. Though I had thought it would be my one and only season, your blog has me sufficiently hooked that I know I’ll be tuning in come Jan. 13.

  • Lu

Great pic! Great read! MJ – I want your autograph! Congrats… you’ve earned that recognition.

  • thesheriff

Ditto to all the comments above – but I have to ask – how in the heck were you able to pinpoint ONE bad one?

I just happened to see Camille’s “Yellow Brick Road” the other day on Rewind. I have to admit it was BAD. I didn’t watch much that year. Agree 1000000% on the Kelly Clarkson “Up to the Mountain”….

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Congrats, MJ. Ah, the days of haloscan are a distant memory!

OMG, seriously! Or haloscan’t, as we sometimes liked to call it. ;) And I even remember the comment server before that. I can’t believe that I’ve been hanging around here for 3 years. Wow.

Anyway, YAAAAAY mj!! :) I read this earlier when I was at work making my daily check on the Lifeline Live blog on USA Today for my midday pop culture fix and saw the link on there… I was so excited that you’re finally getting some much much MUCH deserved recognition for all you do. Thank you, for everything. :)

I hope 2009 brings another fun trip to a summer tour show somewhere. :)

  • Hazehel

I noticed that Idolator is nominated for the best music blog in the 2008 weblog awards. Admittedly it is more of a music blog than an American Idol blog, but I do hope you will get nominated in this category next year (it’s strange that they don’t have an entertainment or TV category, but nevermind).

  • http://www.myspace.com/gundomom CarieB

Awesome answers, MJ and very nice pic of YOU! Thanks for sharing (don’t know how I missed this in my local paper).

  • itsalleternal

You shoudl try to find extra copies and frame it, Carie!

  • BootStar

Mazel tov, MJ! We, your devotees, salute you.

  • poporange

Mj congrads and thanks you. Oh here is one of my favorite songs …I hope you enjoy it

  • sanrio76

Congratulations! I’ve been lurking for a long while and have just been posting recently but I must say, this is the best place evah!

  • FolkFan

Congrats, MJ. This is pretty damn cool.

  • sma11ie

So I googled “mj” and guess what came up as the second hit? MJ’s Big Blog, right below michaeljackson.com. Okay, so third if you count the Google images of Michael Jackson. Anyway. thought that was pretty neat.

  • Autumn

Congratulations MJ! You are THE place to go for unbiased and honest Idol news. You keep all of us crazy fans in line and report it how you see it! I didn’t realize you just started in Season 5 either, that was my first “obsessive” year :) , I assumed you had been around since the beginning…..

  • waffle

That write-up was sooooo long overdue! MJ, you should have been featured long before now, for everything you do for AI and its fans. Thanks for keeping this place warm and friendly for all of us. I just adore this site! :)

  • Seachange

Congrats, MJ! Quality can’t go unrecognized for long.

Like some here, I discovered the Idol blogosphere after S7 (although I had been watching AI since S3), courtesy of David Cook obsession. Then settled on MJs as my favorite.

I enjoyed learning something about YOU, MJ. Thanks for doing what you do.

  • davidlove

Congratulations, and wishing you continued success this season! I’ve enjoyed your blog since Season 5 and appreciate the good feeling you keep going here!

  • daisy

great interview MJ! Been enjoying the blog since season five, fun to see all the new people each season who discover how much fun this place is!

  • justic

congrats MJ. that was a great read just like this blog.
    keep up the good work!

  • May

Congratulations MJ! Great answers! I wish I had discovered your blog at the beginning of season 7 rather than at the end!

  • SpenserJ

Congrats, MJ. Ah, the days of haloscan are a distant memory!

Aw, I still kind of have a soft spot for haloscan LOL.

Just wanted to pop in to tell you excellent work on getting the sly Constantine dig in there. It’s a public service to let the world know that he’s an asshat.

  • joannmski

Yay MJ!!! Thanks for all of your hard work to keep us up to date on things. It was so fun to see you and read more about the person behind the blog I love.

  • risalea

What a great piece, MJ! You deserve the recognition for all you do.

  • RemusL

Great interview, MJ! Very insightful, non-cookie-cutter answers. And you certainly don’t look your age. I would’ve guessed mid-30′s.

Btw, to the detractors Jagrafess and Light Off Please, why don’t you go and start your own blogs? Then you can bash DC, Taylor and Blake to your hearts’ content and promote whatever “successful alums” you want.
