Lazaro Arbos on the American Idol Judges: “They Have Made Horrible Records…”

In a post-show interview, American Idol 12 contestant, Lazaro Arbos, defends the second song he performed last night, “Angels,” against the judges critiques. “I think I came back,” he insists in this interview with Pacific Rim Video Press, finishing his remarks with a side eye… beginning at about the 1:55 mark.

At about the 1:20 mark, Lazaro dismisses the judges remarks by pointing out that their music careers have gone up and down as well. “They have made horrible records and they have made really good records and that’s part of the entertainment life.”

Lazaro’s cluelessness and arrogance are pretty astonishing! And super entertaining.

ETA: Curtis Finch throwing shade at Lazaro last night via twitter:

He deleted it later! But of course, once you tweet, you can never delete! What a season.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

Someone needs to smack this diva bitch.

  • dawnage01

Can you say “deluded?!” This kid has no idea what he’s talking about. He needs to SIT DOWN.

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

Bahahahahaha… (sorry, I can’t offer anything deeper than this at this point).

  • http://twitter.com/raya4 raya

At this point I’m pretty much over all of these kids not named Kree and Candice. I think I’m just missing the genuine friendships and comradery of the past few seasons where I don’t think I ever saw the idols throwing each other under the bus or not being supportive of each other. Lazaro and his excuses can go. Amber and her attitude can go. Curtis sitting at home tweeting not so nice comments about Lazaro (and then deleting them) can go. Tour should sure be interesting this year.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

He’s sealed his fate.. Not on the show but in any recording career. You’ve got to wonder what’s going on with him. Was the original audition guy a put on? Had he been bullied so much in real life that this feels the same and he finally got the nerve to fight back? Doors he read the internet? Watch his performance back? He’s grown more and more arrogant and just had seemed to not wanna be there or like he’s better than idol… don’t get it. Yes entertainment careers ate up and down but they have careers. Best yesterday was nicki laughing and eye rolling while mariah rambled so much that at one time they played music ala Oscars to get her to shut up.. And Nicki looking at her watch and then not commenting cuz of time… It was LOL

  • hypomanicpixie

    Take all the seats, Lazaro.

  • raminasr75

Is he really comparing his two performances to the careers of Mariah , Nicki and Keith , seriously???? (Love them or hate them, they made it in the industry, wrong move)

  • SullyD

Best VFTW pick ever? He’s terrible AND have some ‘tude.

  • nprins

“They don’t know what they are saying”……wow…go home dude, everyone is tired of your voice and your crappy attitude

  • stardust462

Yet it’s deeper than most of the points the judges make.

  • Holden17C

    Wow. I mean…well…I don’t know…just wow.

  • skyfiremage

They put him in the contest but now that he seems unstoppable, they suddenly want to be all nasty.

The reporter was probably trying to get a sensational quote from Lazaro and he got it.

  • FE Swann

This kid is going to have the biggest melt-down in Idol history come next September when the tour is history and no-one (whether he wins or not) will care an iota about him. Peeps like him are the reason I can no longer get into this show because I just don’t do train wrecks well.

  • harvestmoon

Funny how Curtis Finch is the least arrogant person in this story.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501482875 Kesia Monteith

Me too. I think the only reason I only want Kree or Candice, or even Janelle to win, is I’m tired of everyone else’s inflated egos about themselves. Gooooood grief, man. LOL

  • bridgette12

Lazaro is pure entertainment, you can’t manufacture this type of lunacy.
I can’t be mad at him, because he’s funny and really is harmless. He adds some spice to what is a boring season for Idol.

  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

I’ll bet that, in his 22 years, Arbos has encountered a lot of people who subconsciously assume that, because his articulation runs rough, his brain doesn’t work too well, either. I think TPTB made that mistake and didn’t realize this dude has an impressive feel for how to work a fan base.

Once again, he’s totally on-message for setting up his positive fans to feel protective (those mean judges!) and his anti-fan VFTW-type voters to feel like they’re “sticking it to the man” in voting for him. “The judges have made horrible records” is effing brilliant in hitting the hot buttons of both of those constituencies.

If he has trouble maintaining a career in music post-Idol, he needs to be hired into a marketing/PR position where his job is to construct the key narrative arcs. His work will be polarizing and controversial, but it’ll probably be hella effective.

  • hoosiermama

His only good attitude is that he won’t be sad if he’s sent home tonight. Me neither!

  • Katie mea

crazy season for sure, dont get the big deal about Candace, cant stand her attitude either, she is so unattractive and her voice is just bigger than the rest, that does not mean better and Lazaro, oh my, child, what are you thinking?

  • bridgette12

    You reap what you sow.

  • http://www.fatladysings.us TFLS

And what’s he gonna do when all this is over? Who’ll work with him? He’s pretty much scuttled his chances. Diva behavior is tolerated if there’s mega talent behind the arrogance (example: Nicki’s chronic lateness). Even then there’s always that step too far (Whitney Huston missed tons of performances before people finally stopped hiring her – but they did stop hiring her). Lazaro’s just beginning his career – without that well of talent to back him up. Win AI or lose (and I still think there’s a chance he may actually win. Dial Idol has him second behind Candace) – he’ll have no career on the back side. Neither will Curtis is he doesn’t stfu – talent nothwithstanding. He’s just not that good. The last Idol contestant ‘that good’ was Adam Lambert – and he’s a sweetheart.

God I am soooo over Idol. Hard to watch a good show go down in flames.

  • ellen8

This is so not healthy for Lazaro. To even compare his performance to any record made by the judges is so delusional. This kid should see a shrink. His smiling face last night while the judges criticized him shook me a bit. His arrogance was obvious, he was smiling like he was thinking ” you are not getting to me one bit” and I was just sickened.

The SAVE should be changed to give the judges the power to remove a contestant who continues to get worse each week but is never voted off !!

  • ellen8

OMG – Dial Idol has him in 2nd place behind Candice. Look for the Save to be used tonight. If only they could kick him off as they save another……..

  • BeachBum

Loving Lazaro!!! Me and a group of friends voted NON-STOP for Lazaro and (hopefully) plan to do so in the future. He is truly the only thing worth watching on AI this season. C’mon… let’s send VFTW out as a “winner”. ROCK ON!!

  • ellen8

I’m afraid he will crash (mentally) after this. He can’t remain in this delusional world forever.

  • http://twitter.com/LexieONeill Lexie O’Neill

Is this real? How do you get to be an adult and not learn to keep your mouth quiet about people who are essentially your bosses? Wow.

  • ellen8

wha….? I see Candice as the most humble of the girls, her talent has been neglected in seasons past, that must affect her self confidence. I saw her finally believing in her talent last night, as the standing O and judges’ comments brought tears streaming down her face. This is not the reaction of a girl with attitude. And to criticize her looks – looked in the mirror lately ???? Just who are you to put her down like that?

We are not here to judge how a contestant looks – if you don’t like her voice, say it, but leave her looks out of it. She is a beautiful person, a good person, a spiritual person with a super great talent. That is all.

I’m so sorry you are blinded to all of that.

  • bridgette12

If the show wasn’t lying last week and Laz was in the top three and this weeks votes is putting him behind Candice, then he might be around for a while.

  • ellen8

I hope the judges have learned a lesson – those with disabilities should not be given special consideration in the audition process. I was ok as he advanced but when he made the top 10/12 I thought, this is enough !! Curtis has every right to tweet what he did, and who was the other guy who was Number Seven – the one who would have made it if not Lazaro?? That’s the guy who should be really p*ssed at this point !!!

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

“Lazaro’s cluelessness and arrogance are pretty astonishing! And super entertaining.”
Amen sister. I kinda lurve him for the excellent popcorn factor. <3

  • windmills

Welp, this summer’s tour is going to be fun!

  • woodchuck25

Long Live Lazaro! I really hope he stays, just to see the collective aneurysms of the Idol community explode.

  • elliegrll

This cast reminds me so much of season 9’s that it is sad.

What makes them think that it is okay to say or tweet things like this. At least Janell deserves some credit for taking criticism well, and and taking responsibility by trying to get better every week.

  • WilkesG

He will still have his 65,000+ devoted fans/twitter followers telling him how awesome he is for awhile…and they will gradually fall off, so he will probably just slowly fall into obscurity to make it easier on him.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

And take a couch and an ottoman while you’re at it Laz.

  • justmefornow

lol. Since I’ve stopped watching this season, I really don’t care who wins or how much longer Lazaro hangs around, but I’ll give him an A+ compared to the others for lulz and entertainment factor alone. What a horrible season this has become.

And since this cast may well be the lowest grossing and most boring summer tour ever, I say ditch all the other stiffs, have Lazaro, Charlie and Zoanette go on the tour alone and maybe they’ll fill some seats.

  • b_james

YIKES. I wish the interviewer would’ve asked Laz the names of those “horrible albums”.

  • DavidL

This is so sad.. and I used to like him

  • perfectstorm

I say bring back Zoanette Johnson!

  • standtotheright

Dial Idol had Hollie Cavanaugh in first place for top 6 last year and she was in the bottom three. In S10, DI had Durbin second and Reinhart fifth (possible, but questionable) and in S9, DI had Aaron Kelly first. Just saying.

  • KrisKD

If only those who are voting for him because of his story really knew what he was like as a person. Talk about some unfounded arrogance. I can’t really remember any other contestants who stayed past their time having this level of arrogance.

  • Madilo

    HE’S TERRIBLE

  • SnowFairy444

Candace could use a makeover, a healthy diet and a trip to the gym, but it’s not so much that…it’s her personality that seems to be a bit lacking. Idol has never been about singing; people want the complete package.

  • standtotheright

I agree he’s doing his own manipulation. But it’s soaked in so much hyperbole that I find it boring. #nopopcornhere

  • Larc

Wash your mouth out with soap! ;)

  • SnowFairy444

Lazaro doesn’t lack confidence, despite the speech impairment, does he? I’m actually quite impressed by him.

  • girlygirl

To be fair, he’s right — the judges have all made some pretty bad records as well as some very good ones. No one puts out great material every time around.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

I think at this point he’s reaching out to the VFTW vote. That’s the only possible logical explanation for his behavior.

  • raminasr75

Katie can you give me a quantifiable example of Candice’s supposed bad attitude’? She comes across as a nice , humble person , just because someone does not smile and has a cheery pageant queen disposition 24/7 , doesn’t mean they have an ‘attitude’. And she is a very pretty woman, your sense of what attractive constitutes seems really warped to me.

  • SnowFairy444

Dial Idol has been wrong many times.

  • http://twitter.com/monicathe11 Marie

We can only handle one joke contestant at a time.

  • BeachBum

Season 9 >>>>>> Season 12. If you don’t believe me, check the ratings. It’s a simple concept… if you want the show to be popular, make sure to include a WGWG in the top 10. As I said in an earlier post, any average WGWG could get more votes than the slugs from this season. The producers and judges did everything they could to ensure a female would win… and you can see the results. Ratings in the tank and ZERO buzz (other than Lazaro). Sorry… but them the facts!!??

  • waynestrong

I don’t think he is very talented musically, but i think if a crowdfunding collection was announced he’d make bank. Some people are enamored by his backstory. Which isn’t that uncommon anyways, most children studder at some point in their lives etc.

  • Larc

In many respects, I think this is much worse than S9. We didn’t have a Lazaro who kept sticking around then.

  • SnowFairy444

Or the Latino community might embrace him and make him a star. There’s strength in numbers.

  • elliegrll

That’s not confidence, it is arrogance. It would be confidence if he took responsibility for his actions, and actually seemed to be making an effort to get better. Even Tim Urban tried to improve himself over the course of is season.

  • bridgette12

So true, not every song is a hit. Even the judges would admit that if they were asked.

  • SnowFairy444

Well, at least she showed some personality.

  • Larc

I don’t think so. As Josef Stalin said, it’s not who votes but who counts the votes that matters.

  • usedtobelucy

‘YIKES. I wish the interviewer would’ve asked Laz the names of those “horrible albums”.’

Oh, given his demonstrably broad and deep knowledge of multiple music genres, I’m sure he would not only have named them but provided detailed critiques. lol

  • jms

I’d probably find it more entertaining if someone knocked him out the next time he made an excuse.

….That said, what he said wasn’t exactly WRONG, it was just really horribly worded. I mean, he didn’t have to single out the judges.

I’ll take Rylan Clark over this guy and people know how much I hated Rylan.

  • bridgette12

Thin line between arrogance and confidence and Idol has seen plenty of both through the years.

  • usedtobelucy

“And what’s he gonna do when all this is over? Who’ll work with him”

Well, at that point he will learn the lesson, presumably. … Too bad he will have to learn it by taking such a hard and public fall, but I suppose that’s the main way we learn things.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

No he’s not right because he’s comparing that to him having one performance that was terrible and another one that was just bad. I honestly wonder if he’s mentally ok. He’s not acting like a normal person. He keeps messing up and then comes up with such far fetched justifications. I honestly think that either he’s not mentally fit or he’s going after the VFTW vote.

  • sdmama

Can you imagine what will happen behind the scene during the tour? I wonder if there will be duet. ;)

  • bridgette12

But if he was in the top three last week, no reason think he couldn’t be top three this week, especially considering the fact that he is the last guy standing and his votes are not being split like the women.

  • Face

I’m in two minds about all this social media hoo-hah this season …

on the one hand it’s probably just a combination of being young, naïve, having no filter, wanting to defend themselves, maybe even thinking they are being clever or amusing… married with having no media experience and being used to using social media to express every thought that enters their pretty young vacant heads with minimal (or minor) consequences… so maybe it’s all being blown out of proportion?

on the other hand… it is bad manners, shows a poor attitude and probably short sighted in terms of impact post show & possible career… would you want to work with most of them?

either way… dare I say… it’s quite interesting and comical as a spectator to watch it unfold…

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

Lol Timmehhhh. I still remember the slide he did in one of his performances. Teflon Tim.

  • http://twitter.com/happylittlefish Amy Beth

Oh to be a fly on the wall at the AI mansion (or whatever place they stash the contestants). Forget about sex tapes, people would pay good money to hear what the girls say about him.

  • Montavilla

He could end up being Idol’s first Latino star. If the unthinkable were to happen and he won the title, he’d be the first Latino to win the show.

  • SnowFairy444

I think people mistake confidence for arrogance. He didn’t say anything that wasn’t true…the judges have made bad records and there are ups and downs in the entertainment business. Nobody is perfect.

  • standtotheright

Oh, I don’t necessarily disagree with that. I’m just saying that DI doesn’t prove anything about his lasting a while. All of those first or second place DI finishers I mentioned went out top 4 or 5 in reality.

  • KrisKD

How would you know what Candice’s diet is like or what her health may be? I didn’t know you knew her like that to be making suppositions about what she needs to be doing.

  • raminasr75

Twitter is a bit tricky, I don’t think they realize just how much each post is being dissected. Angie doing a ‘favorite’ on some posts last week that seemed anti-Lazaro were reported on etc. Then again we are living in the age of social media

  • SnowFairy444

Of course they’re being all nasty. Just think if he won Idol? Yikes, that would not be good for the show at all.

  • Robert Eller

La Zero has a brilliant political future ahead of him – as a protégé of Florida GOP Senator Marco Rubio.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

So when he messed up the trio performance by forgetting the lyrics and he said “WE didn’t know the song very well” is that confidence too? He was the only one who forgot his lyrics and yet he said WE.

I think he’s been consistently arrogant. For him to bring up the fact that the judges have made bad records doesn’t show confidence. It shows arrogance and ignorance on his part. Regardless of their ups and downs they are there to guide him. Their ups and downs are irrelevant in the competition.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=754136041 Jason Gorny

Dang… that is low of him to say… Nicki will tear him apart. I bet the producers/judges are regretting having Lazaro there… He needs to be grateful that he is on the show… stfu lazaro lol

  • Robert Eller

If AI is going to “expand” its concept of what criteria contestants are being evaluated on, I suggest:

2 American Idols. Just like the Olympics. A Regular Olympics and a Special Olympics.

  • jms

Kinda, I remember when Alex Lambert said something along the lines of “We had a couple people we were talking about who would get eliminated before anyone else” and “I wouldn’t buy a whole album of Janis Joplin covers, go Lee!”

S12 has the better talent, but the overall more disgusting feeling just watching the season. I think Kree and Candice deserve better than these chumps they’re competing against even if I’m beginning to get bored by Kree. The guys also deserved better.

  • Peter van den Ham

Nicki Minaj has released two studio albums. I am incredibly amused by Lazaro’s comment just because of that.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

Not that I care what Lazaro says, he has to own it in the end. But in the end Lazaro is just as bad as everyone else, when it comes to showing perceived respect

  • fuzzywuzzy

So Lazaro did his best on his second song? Does he not realize that his best is mediocre? And saying that the judges “don’t know what they’re saying”? Seriously? WTF? Lazaro really believes that he’s among the top 6 singers of the 90,000 people who auditioned? It’s really too bad that Lazaro has been believing his fans and has virtually no self-awareness. Idol has created a monster and once he’s cast aside, he probably won’t know what happened. His arrogance is both hilarious and so very sad.

  • jms

I will say I’m tempted to start voting for him though. Honestly, the producers deserve it for making a horrible **** of a season and overly pimping a group of girls that’s just a’ight but would have been eliminated already for the most part in any other season. I’d gladly take JDA or Zoanette over him, though.

I wonder if Nicki’s gonna start some feud with Lazaro, too. That would be popcorn worthy.

  • SnowFairy444

    I have eyes.

  • Robert Eller

I cannot be the only one who has noticed this, and I do not note this with any consternation or alarm, but the number of Latino contestants across the spectrum of singing competitions who go on to the live voted on stages has been quite high.
If I were Latino, and that was an important part of my identity, I would want Latino stars in any field to be the best they could be at what they do.
I would find no identity pride in someone like La Zero being foisted off as a singing star.
Wonder what Jose Feliciano might have to say about the La Zero issue.

  • http://www.randrambles.com Rand

To be completely honest, every time he starts talking(or singing) I press mute.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=754136041 Jason Gorny

patiently watching twitter to see her wrath on lazaro!

  • Robert Eller

As I said elsewhere, La Zero has a brilliant political future as a protégé to Florida GOP Senator Marco Rubioe

  • windmills

I would be surprised if Lazaro were familiar with more than 1 Keith Urban record, and I feel pretty confident he wouldn’t know the lyrics of any of them ;)

It was a poorly worded way for Lazaro to try to excuse his struggles tbh. He may be right about the judges but I doubt he’s speaking with actual knowledge of their songbooks.

  • fuzzywuzzy

” It shows arrogance and ignorance on his part. ”

That’s a pretty deadly combination. lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

lol And have them sing together in duets and trios.

  • SnowFairy444

No season beats S9 as being the absolute worst. As least this group as some outstanding singers.

  • SnowFairy444

I agree. Serves them right. So desperate to have a female win, they gave us a bunch of average, boring, girly guys.

  • elliegrll

I think that people mistake arrogance for confidence. Lazaro has been getting more arrogant and cocky by the week. There is nothing confident about blaming others for his mistakes, or getting defensive, instead of getting better, when people critique him.

  • raminasr75

The producers always cast and manipulate the show, every single year. They were getting hammered last year about yet another WGWG contestant being pimped out and winning, and now people are hammering them for casting more talented females. It’s pretty much lose , lose. If this was someone like Sanjaya I say ok let’s vote him in at least he is entertaining and in on the joke, but Lazaro’s performances are dull and painful to listen to. You aren’t punishing the producers, you are punishing the viewing audience and him (it is really not kind what is happening to the poor guy) by voting for Lazaro as payback.

  • ohreli

OK, Lazaro is a bit clueless, but Curtis’s remarks (dissing a fellow contestant on Twitter) is much worse than what Lazaro said. THAT’S why you’re “sitting at home,” Curtis!

  • elliegrll

I haven’t seen Candice have a bad attitude, and attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder. I think that because of the way that she sings and looks that Candice is going to be labeled as a diva no matter how well she treats others, or how she conducts herself on and off camera.

  • SnowFairy444

I see nothing wrong with defending yourself. The kid has balls and I admire that quality in people, but no he’s definitely not the best singer and probably needs to leave.

  • Robert Eller

Anybody into idolanalytics.com? As close to a Nate Silver/fivethirtyeight.com style statistical analysis of AI as I believe may exist. Reuben Gann, idolanalytics resident quant, is a Physics PhD candidate.

Reuben’s probabilities (NOT PREDICTIONS) of the candidates “not being safe,” or least likely to end up in the top three, in descending order:

    6. Janelle;

    5. La Zero;

    4. Amber;

    3. Kree;

    2. Angie;

    1. Candice.

Amber’s “not safe” probability is much closer to La Zero’s than to Kree’s. I interpret this to mean that Amber is less likely to switch places in the above ranking with Kree (i.e., get relatively “safer”) than with La Zero (i.e., get relatively “less safe”).

Conclusion: (High probability scenario, NOT A PREDICTION) Janelle sings for survival tonight; Judges do not save Janelle, because her chances of ending in the top 3 are low; Amber sings for survival next week; Judges exercise the save for Amber, who does have a shot at the top three, also because the save option expires beyond the top 5.

Inference of scenario: La Zero survives this and at least two more weeks, into the final 4.

Weather forecast: Increasingly stormy. Schadenfreude fans: This Bad’s for you.

  • http://www.amadcow2.com amadcow2

Let’s look at the #6 Idol over the past:

    S1 – Christina Christian
    S2 – Carmen Rasmusen
    S3 – John Stevens
    S4 – Constantine Maroulis
    S5 – Kellie Pickler
    S6 – Phil Stacey
    S7 – Carly Smithson
    S8 – Anoop Desai
    S9 – Siobhan Magnus
    S10 – Casey Abrams
    S11 – Elise Testone

What is the connection? Basically all of them could sing. Quick question; Is Lazero in the same class as Elise Testone? I think not.

The boy is in SERIOUS trouble if he continues to have smoke blown up his keester. Lazero was a ‘back-story’ contestant from the start. He should be happy he made it this far and TPTB should be ashamed that he made it this far.

  • jennyl2

Didn’t see the vid just read the headlines. Guy sounds so painfully and cluelessly naive and I’m starting to feel sorry for him. He needs to go for his own sake.

The irony of winning a VFTW slanted vote: By implication you’ve been voted the Worst of American Idol. That alone should augur a great singing career. Right.

I’m telling you, La Zero is headed for a lucrative right-wing political career.

“The SAVE should be changed to give the judges the power to remove a contestant who continues to get worse each week but is never voted off !!”

    hahaha that would be hilarious

  • elliegrll

But, what is he defending himself against? People saying that he has forgotten his lyrics on more than one occasion, doesn’t sing in the right key, misses notes, doesn’t understand the meaning of the songs that he is singing, and is often flat or pitchy? None of these are personal attacks, they are factual criticisms of his singing. The best way to handle these criticisms would be to get better, and not act like people are hurling baseless personal insults at him.

  • standtotheright

If I thought for one second that he’d actually heard enough of their material to judge which albums were good and which were not, then maybe that critique would come off as fair instead of trolling, although “horrible” would still be more incendiary than the point required.
    But I don’t, so it doesn’t.

  • http://twitter.com/PattiHum Pat H

For some reason, Dial Idol has been very accurate this year. And I just have to say I think Candice is beautiful! Gorgeous!

  • SnowFairy444

Well, if someone said you not any good, what would you say? They are personal attacks.

  • irockhard

And don’t forget JDA and Kez Ban!

  • bridgette12

Candice is a good singer. She’s not the most commercial female left in the top 6 and she looks older than what she is, but unattractive is a tad harsh. As for her attitude, you only see what they want to show and truthfully you don’t know sometimes whether that’s actually who they really are until they get off of Idol. I personally think she’s boring and she needs to show a little attitude and personality.

  • SnowFairy444

Every entertainer has put out horrible songs and bad albums. This is nothing new.

  • standtotheright

Unless you also have an MD, that’s irrelevant. Weight varies between people for any number of reasons outside their general health regimen and eating plan.

  • standtotheright

I didn’t say it was new. I said he’s not demonstrably aware enough of music for that critique to come off as anything more than defensive (in the most generous light) or trolling for votes (in the less generous one).

He really hasn’t got a clue….Oh boy. Never was a Curtis fan, but I understand his frustration.

  • SnowFairy444

Oh please, the girl is overweight and needs lose some weight.

  • SnowFairy444

You don’t know that. Maybe he has.

  • standtotheright

Maybe so. But you don’t know if it’s a thyroid problem, or a reaction to medication, or anything else. Simply saying “eat some salad and hit the gym” doesn’t work for many people outside really persistent professional supervision.

  • blackberryharvest

Season 9 ratings were also better than Season 11, but that doesn’t make it better.

  • SnowFairy444

    OK. Whatever.

  • blackberryharvest

It has them all 1-6. So they are all tied on there. People need to learn how to read dial idol lol.

  • standtotheright

“I don’t know that song.” “I didn’t know that song.” etc. I suspect he knows a few Mariah Carey songs, but that’s about it.

  • BeachBum

Uh…. tell that to the advertisers. They could care less who had the “better” contestants.

  • chillj

Actually, Lazaro seems pretty right in his expression of judge aptitude. Curtis sounded like his too frequent facial expression, which is why he is no longer there.

  • http://twitter.com/LexieONeill Lexie O’Neill

The Latino community (as far as Latina magazine and other sites) claim Alison Iraheta, David Archiluta and Scotty among their ranks (they were all on a Top Sexiest Latino list recently).:) So no need…

  • chillj

Not me. You live by social media you die by it.

  • taylor

Plus, she had a great attitude.

  • chillj

I think singers with vocals every bit as limited as Lazaro’s have been very successful. We all know they are around; I suspect that was what Lazaro was alluding to. I don’t think his vocals have been horrible, but I do think his memory is problematic.

  • chillj

    I hear ya’ Snow Fairy.

  • chillj

    Bizarre, actually.

  • chillj

You know. I would not refuse to vote for him as a goof, but by that same token, I would not vote for him as a goof, either. Behind those red pants is a human being and we need to treat him as one.

  • tierbee

Oh, this guy. On the one hand I kinda want to smack him for his arrogance and I’ve never recovered from him calling Randy “boo”… on the other hand I just want to get my popcorn and laugh because the Idol powers-that-be deserve this for their ridiculously heavy-handed desperate meddling because they so desperately want a girl winner.

  • tierbee

Oh, this guy. The judges are going to look really sh***y by next week. Their comments do not flatter them, either.

  • DragonFly

Difficult to agree w/that specific-named source…. but, “exactly”.

  • voicesinmyhead

Lol! I don’t think Lazaro gets that he will not be making an album at all though.

  • jpfan2

Whatever happens to Lazaro is a step up from his previous career scooping ice cream. ;0 Hope he’s enjoying the ride and doesn’t end up a mess when it’s all over. At least he has a cute bf. What did he say that was so bad anyway?

  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

But do the gals who will lose opportunities that Arbos gets also deserve this?

The further he goes in the competition, the more goodies he gets, regardless of whether he’s signed — and somebody who is a better singer doesn’t get.

Lythgoe didn’t like Fox and Core Media messing with “his” show so he loaded the cast with a sympathetic but weak male who could potentially beat the most talented gals. I’m not convinced that soothing Lythgoe’s battered ego calls for denying opportunities to gals who auditioned in good faith.

  • jpfan2

So what if he doesn’t end up with a great music career. Neither do 90% or more of the people on this show including folks that have gotten standing Os If TPTB like someone they get signed no matter where they finish. Lazaro isn’t ruining anyone else’s chance at all. I agree TPTB deserve this for casting so many lame guys. ;0

  • lizland

Let’s be honest, him comparing himself to the judges in musical output in any way, shape or form is incredibly misguided and stupid. Doesn’t matter if they’ve had a few bum songs or albums, they are stars and he is nothing.

  • perfectstorm

Not a fan, but I predict Lazaro will be one of the top sellers of Season 12. There’s a market for the cornball cheese that he does.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

I read it as someone behind the scenes giving him talking points to use.

  • Miss Blue

Not every song is a hit is right. However, while not a fan of Mariah or Nikki’s music, I do not believe any of these judges have ever recorded or sung live any song as badly as Laz did last night. Ever. Including kindergarten.

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

I think he is finally going home tonight. He is being incredibly bitchy on his twitter.

  • jpfan2

Even if Lazaro ends up singing in the subways like Sanjaya he’ll have a few more bucks in his pocket. Maybe he can be the poster boy for severe stuttering and work the charity circuit. He’s got a big gay following maybe he can work the Gay Pride circuit as well. As long as he doesn’t knock out the obvious final two I think he’ll be fine. Although if he really is a massive diva he’ll probably self destruct right after the show. ;)

  • Miss Blue

Bad songs, not decent songs sung badly. Ala Laz.

  • lizland

Stutterers are often worse under stressful situations. He seems better in the casual pre taped interviews, and worse in the ad hoc or live things. I think that is quite typical. I really don’t think it is put on at all.

  • Hazehel

Have they have changed the rules? I thought they have to use the save before Top 5, i.e. this week is the last week they can use the save.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

There is a psychologist on staff at American Idol. I will be honest – I can’t believe he said this! Not good… not good at all.

  • standtotheright

“Getting signed” as a fourth or fifth place finisher may or may not actually give the contestant more money in the pocket after recoupment (and unless one is Chris Daughtry, the odds are on “may not.”)
Getting the perks of a top 5 placement (Disney prizes, etc) or a top 3 (Homecoming and the subsequent appearance fees that at least the hometown will usually rustle up) is guaranteed money in the bank.
Why should talented, striving competitors lose out on that guaranteed income for the lulz?

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

This is the last week the Save can be used. I don’t know if they would save Janelle or Amber. Just not sure.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

Lazaro just tweeted this, he’s pissed off!

@my_ink_ispink @butiful_dzaster then you need to stop stalking my page and commenting on my updates because I don’t remember asking you shit— Lazaro Arbos (@LazaroAI12) April 11, 2013

  • Happyhexer

Brian Mansfield is right. Lazaro’s continued presence of AI is ruining any chance he has for a post-Idol career. And Lazaro isn’t helping himself any. No matter what happens on Idol, Lazaro still has to function in the real world. The fans won’t be able to keep the backlash away. Lazaro’s fans are truly doing him no favors. And those who are voting to stick it in the producers’ eyes don’t generally care about Lazaro anyway.

Someone speculated that Lazaro may be on medication, because his affect has changed so much pre-meltdown (when he cried all the time) to post-meltdown (when he smiles or talks back). At this point, I tend to agree. The criticism last night was unduly harsh (though not undeserved), only because with the exception of one week, the judges have been blowing smoke up Lazaro’s a**. I think the medication may be making Lazaro come across more arrogant than he is (or maybe making his filter slip a bit), but I do think his cluelessness borders on delusional. Or brilliance, as Eilonwy submits.

  • dabney c

Gotta say, I was so turned off by the judges’ nastiness toward Lazaro last night, that for once, I’m like – “tell ‘em Lazaro! Tell ‘em they’re not all that, either!” . I still hope he goes home tonight because this is becoming too painful to bare. I don’t want to see another round of Nicki getting all “uhhh, O-KEH” about Lazaro. I, personally, have had enough of this particular bit of Idol bs.

  • bridgette12

It’s hilarious that the same show and judges that encouraged and enabled him from the beginning, now wants the embarrassment to go away and they can’t quite figure out how to get rid of him. It’s just sad what Idol has come to.

  • dabney c

And here I thought it was Fox and Core Media messing with Nigel’s show because, frankly, this season is not what I’m used to seeing with Nigel at the helm.

  • dabney c

I think, at this point, it’s more ego-defense and self-preservation than confidence or arrogance.

  • dabney c

Why the cruelty? He has become the whipping post of the show for the producers, the judges, the other contestants, and the viewers. Enough already. Let him go home and preserve some remaining dignity.

  • bridgette12

Lazaros, the Savior of Idol. He’s one of the top ten trends on the front page of Yahoo.

  • http://twitter.com/WolfpackBuckeye Nichole

Nicki calls Lazaro Ricky Ricardo…. they should start the show by saying Lazzy you have some xplaining to do…..

Bahha, American Idol’s official twitter is commenting on underneath some of his posts.

  • JerryT

I hope everyone votes for Lazaro, maybe that will teach TPTB a lesson on voter manipulation and favoritism

  • JosieX

I am not a Lazaro fan, but as far as the twitter heckling goes, I don’t see Lazaro as the incredibly bitchy element in this situation. I don’t think that the people who do that sort of thing deserve the satisfaction of a response though, so I hope he learns to ignore them.

  • elliegrll

I doubt it. His performances aren’t train wrecks like Sanjaya or Tim Urban’s, so they aren’t funny. He’s not joking around, nor does he seem to be aware of his problems, like Heejun and some others, so he’s incredibly boring, just like a few other contestants this season.

  • dawnage01

Lazaro’s modus operandi to criticism is to duck and dodge. Sure, some of the judges’ records have been hit and miss, but that’s not the point!! That shouldn’t be the defense to his sucky performances. The majority of Lazaro’s performances have been mediocre or terrible. He needs to take responsibility, get singing lessons, and sing/perform better.

  • SnowFairy444

I would have to disagree. He’s obviously not the best singer, but his performances are solid and entertaining. His hand movements and facial expressions are actually quite good. I wish some of the best singers like Kree and Candice would do more of what Lazaro does.

  • http://twitter.com/LexieONeill Lexie O’Neill

I would say how? And what can I do? Then, I would work my tail off to fix it. That’s how you improve in any business…

  • Wfish88

LOL @ Lazaro… His true colors are really showing. But yeah I agree with other people, if he wasn’t on the show would be full of Zzzz’s… No one will want to work with his after the show in music business. So soak up your 15 minutes Lazaro

  • standtotheright

The point is that the mere presence of a white dude in the cast doesn’t prevent falling ratings.

  • http://twitter.com/TherealDharper therealDharper

    Please let Lazaro go home.

  • BeachBum

Cruelty?? Not a chance. I watch AI to be entertained.. period! I didn’t force him to try out… I didn’t put him through to the voting rounds. Now I’m using my opportunity to vote for the person who provides me with the best entertainment value. What’s wrong with that??

  • blackberryharvest

It’s an aging show, the ratings usually have nothing to do with the cast.

  • LeahKittyS

I don’t get what the big deal is about this. So what, he said a curse word. Nice people swear, too. That girl he was replying to was being annoying. He has the right to tell her to leave him alone.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“I wish some of the best singers like Kree and Candice would do more of what Lazaro does.”

    lmao!

  • SnowFairy444

These girls are too boring in their performance skills. They just stand there.

  • fuzzywuzzy

OK, but IMO to suggest that copying anything that Lazaro does onstage is a good thing and would improve their performances is hilarious. lol

  • SnowFairy444

    I disagree.

  • fuzzywuzzy

When you say that “he’s not the best singer”, do you honestly believe that he belongs in the top 10 of a singing competition and is competitive with the other contestants?

  • SnowFairy444

America votes for him, so it’s not up to me to decide who belongs in the top 10. Obviously the judges/producers put him there. I actually voted for the first time this season yesterday.

  • fuzzywuzzy

True. Lazaro’s apparent lack of perspective and self-awareness is puzzling. It’s hard to imagine anyone his age being so clueless.

  • Axxxel

He should be smiling… if his face was all serious, it would not look good on camera.

  • Axxxel

Adam Lambert only talked back to the judges defensively once… but times have changed.. maybe the audience tolerate more people with bad attitudes. Remember Angela and Amber’s twitter adventures…

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

Hey whatever works for him. If he thinks that’s going to do him any favors then more power to him.

  • LeahKittyS

At this point I don’t think he cares about making any new fans. He’s happy with the ones he has, and I understand why, considering they’ve carried him this far. He probably realizes by now he’s the least popular one in the bunch.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

Or its part of his character to not be able to see when he’s wrong or made a mistake. Besides this one tweet in response to the girl the other last tweets he’s sent has been pretty bitchy. Clearly he still doesn’t think he messed up last night. He’s still making up excuses. I mean I don’t really care for him but the guy comes across as a total douche in my view.

  • fuzzywuzzy

That’s not what I asked. Do YOU honestly believe that he belongs in the top 10 and is competitive with the other contestants? Is that why you are voting for him? Just curious.

  • SnowFairy444

I answered your question. End of discussion.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Well, you didn’t answer, but then again, you did. ;) lol

  • SnowFairy444

    Yes, I did.

  • Axxxel

If someone says that I am not any good, I would not say anything (afraid of the harsh words that could leave my mouth) and just smile and shrug my shoulders and then go into my little corner and cry, go on the phone to vent to my friends and work hard to learn the lyrics of the next song.

Not all are personal attacks… ” you are stupid” is a personal attack… ” you made a stupid song choice” is not a personal attack…

  • fuzzywuzzy

I know. I “get it” now. ;) lol

ETA: Oh, I didn’t see your edit.

“His voice is not as good as the girls, but I think he’s an excellent performer.”

    OK. lmao!

  • maxie10

Maybe every song or record is not a hit, even if every song was not a hit they would still be miles above what he is capable of producing. I don’t like when the judges are mean to anyone. Just speak the truth kindly. They should never have put him in the top. Would rather have Zoanette there for entertainment purposes. She was sweet and humble and fun.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

Lol you didn’t answer the question. In avoiding such a legitimate question you basically prove that you support him but yet don’t believe that he belongs in the Top 10.

  • SnowFairy444

    What does that mean?

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

    I got it too haha.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I can’t help but wonder how he gets along with the young ladies on the show. Is he a buddy to any of them?

  • fuzzywuzzy

He appears to be friendly with Amber, but Burnell and Candice don’t appear to be fans of Lazaro’s. Angie (with her favoriting negative comments about Lazaro) also doesn’t seem to be a fan. Now, we know that Curtis isn’t either. That’s 4 out of the top 10. lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

As much as I agree that TPTB are responsible for the “Lazaro problem”, I don’t agree with people using him as a weapon against the producers. IMO, that is unkind to Lazaro.

  • Axxxel

Young adults… already grown up but not quite there yet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

He’s an excellent performer in a VFTW sorta way. The way he tries to be sexy and strikes a pose holding the mic still attached to the stand with his hips to the side. The way he then grabs the mic and starts walking with a catwalk good for ANTM. The profuse sweating. Everything is just lulzy and excellent in a sinister sorta way lmao.

  • SnowFairy444

Who? Oh wait, he’s the one who stole a computer from a church. Never mind.

  • Axxxel

This reminds me of all the fuss made around the “bad attitude” of emblem 3″ during X factor. Emblem 3, a boysband (3 boys), whose vocal were soso (they did not forget their lyrics though). Some of them were younger than Lazaro though and they had relatives in relatively high places in the entertainment industry, so even if they had a bad attitude during interviews, someone is going to work together with them. And slowly but surely they learned how to be more PR-friendly in their interviews.

  • curly_yenta

He wouldn’t be any worse off than 99.9% of ex-Idolettes post their time on Idol. Once the show/tour is over, only the strong survive – which is just a verrrrry small circle of people.

  • SnowFairy444

I actually don’t care one way or the other.

  • Axxxel

What you are saying is: ” be careful what you wish for, it may come true… You asked for it, so now you are getting it and you just have to bear the consequences of your actions.” This is valid for Lazaro and for you… Entertainment can be anything, from diva moment, to trainwrecks and meltdowns..

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Lazaro is pretty savvy:

Stuttering American Idol finalist Lazaro Arbos talks about his favorite current artist. He said: “It’d be between Lad Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Nicki Minaj … a mix of them”

    http://www.justinbieberzone.com/2013/04/lazaro-arbos-justin-bieber-is-my-favorite-current-artist/

    Nicki Minaj – 16,000,000+

    * over half of these are apparently “fake”

    http://arts.nationalpost.com/2013/04/11/more-than-half-of-justin-biebers-twitter-followers-are-fake/

  • SnowFairy444

Well, anything is an improvement over those boring girls.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Yes, Lazaro is literally the perfect VFTW contestant. Even moreso now that he’s showing his arrogance and horrible attitude. VFTW must be beside themselves and giddy with joy that Lazaro has made their final season of Idol so entertaining for them. Of course, it’s not good for Lazaro, but he’s too carried away with his fans and lacks the self-awareness to know what’s really happening to him.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I disagree. The fact that you voted indicates that you do care.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

“His hand movements and facial expressions are actually quite good. I wish some of the best singers like Kree and Candice would do more of what Lazaro does.”

Every time I read through the comments and pass by this statement I can’t help but laughing. This really is hilarious haha.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marimarpr Marimar Rios

I don’t disagree that the girls are boring. They are. But I doubt that if they want to be taken seriously they’re going to start youtubing Lazaro’s performances and acting like him. Lol just the thought of that is all sorts of lulzy lmao.

  • http://www.facebook.com/djafans Fan Dja

“The boy is in SERIOUS trouble if he continues to have smoke blown up his keester. ”

True, unless it’s Usher or Scooter doing the blowing lol Look at what they manufactured with the biebs… horrible thought.

  • teacup

I see no lies. All of them have released/been a part of some BAD music. And I don’t even like Lazaro.

  • Face

I only saw bits of US X Factor last year… so I don’t recall seeing much of any of the acts besides the performances/judges comments… but I never saw anything with Emblem3 that said ‘bad attitude’… if anything they just seemed hyper and maybe a bit cocky, but in an amusing way… but I always thought that was supposed to be part of the act… you know to present them as a boy band with a bit of swagger… a more daring version of 1D etc… but I do recall them getting lots of negative comments on here…
ultimately the teens and tweens who vote for likes of Emblem 3 are probably not bothered about how cocky them seem… probably part of the attraction…
& I agree with you… the rest can be improved through media coaching…

  • fuzzywuzzy

The problem is that Lazaro has only been a part of BAD/horrible music. So, his “ups and downs” range from mediocre to horrible, unlike the judges. lol

  • SnowFairy444

    No, I don’t care. It’s just a TV show.

  • EB

Yeah, it really isn’t a terrible point to make, but it just depends on the source and the fact he is the one stating it is sort of the funny/unpleasant thing about it.

  • SnowFairy444

Wasn’t Taylor Hicks kind of cornball cheese performer and I believe he’s now playing Vegas, so there you go, there is a market.

  • EB

They should only have like twelve dates. Do one of those request things where whatever city requests it the most gets a concert.

Save it for what few fans actually really want to go (I’m guessing not many) and spare the Idols a bunch of nearly-empty venues and a long summer of animosity amidst themselves?

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

He lost credibility by mentioning Bieber IMO.

  • LeahKittyS

Hey, he’s no worse than a bunch of other out now. Devin likes Bieber, too (I tolerate him for my sister’s sake because she’s convinced she’s going to marry him).

  • SnowFairy444

It doesn’t really matter at this point. They all get their 15 minutes of fame and then disappear into oblivion. Only the very strong survive.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that Lazaro is intentionally kissing up to the mega-fanbases of those artists, rather than stating his actual favorite artists.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

Many of them make a living out music (even though they aren’t chart toppers). If went to a local bar and they had a Karaoke contest, he be lucky to finish in the top three

  • EB

Agreed! And it really isn’t his fault that he has made it this far, and the inflated opinion of himself, while not good, isn’t that tough to believe really after all of the ridiculous praise the judges gave him to begin with. So now that they are turning on him (like they should have WEEKS ago), him getting surly is sort of what I would expect.

And it is so entertaining. I hope it doesn’t endure much longer, but for the moment, I’m amused.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

If America wants to make Lazaro a running punchline, than I’ll continue to laugh. It’s a shame a feel good story will ends in him being remembered as the joke of AI12 :(

  • Wfish88

PLEEASSSE Producers put this snipit of interview on IDOL tonight…

  • fuzzywuzzy

Actually, it does matter financially. The top 5 finalists receive $50,000 or so from Disney for participating in promoting the “Idol Experience” at Disneyworld in Orlando. So at this point, making it to the top 5 is a big deal, regardless of what happens after the show.

  • BinkyLights

It’s amazing how everyone is so ruffled up about Lazaro; he’s been awful all season and the judges never gave it to him straight up until now, when he’s the last male remaining, when all that could’ve been avoided if they had said something sooner.

I love how Curtis is trying to throw shade too, with no talent to back it up either. He was sent home for a reason. He’s a mediocre singer with a good head voice and falsetto; he’s the novelty church-boy act (a hypocritical one at that too, lmao) and that gets old unless you can really really sing.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Any positive inspirational aspect to Lazaro is being badly eroded the longer he stays on the show, not just by exposing how poor a singer he is (not changing key was simply humiliating at this stage), but in exposing his poor attitude, arrogance, immaturity and lack of graciousness. He’s revealing that he’s really not someone to admire or emulate.

  • Face

Lazaro’s probably the most polarising contestant for years (if not ever) on AI…
to me he is just like Jedward from UK XF… I think he will def have some form of post show career… maybe not in music… but he will have his 15 mins and more…
he just seems to be one of those people who does/says things that draw media attention.. i’m just no sure whether it’s all calculated or whether it’s just naturally the way he is … either way I foresee PR people lining up to take him under their wing…

  • HKfan

Curtis, you are no longer there because you came across as a complete douchebag and aren’t in the least bit attractive….sometimes a voice is not enough.

  • http://twitter.com/crackletlightin B

Wow! That singer has a gorgeous tone!

  • LeahKittyS

No, he really does like Lady Gaga. She’s his favorite American artist; he said so in an earlier interview and he sang “The Edge of Glory” in Hollywood.

  • Miz

    Mine too.

  • patriciajames

I love these threads — they have been more entertaining than the actual show. LOL.
But I don’t understand why all “the shade” on Season 9 which produced 2 greatly talented “artists” — Casey James and Crystal Bowersox, whom, altho they have not reached (yet) the heights of a Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, but are putting out good music, touring, and building careers. Even Siobhan — if she can get a good indie band to back her and the right music can rise up. Unfortunately Simon maniped that whole season by championing the “paint salesman” who altho had a somewhat pleasant singing voice, could only strum a few notes in his guitar and had the personality of a …… (I don’t like to diss folks). No way were they going to give the AI title to a dreadlocked unwed mother who busked for a living, no matter how great her voice was, or a WGWG who’s guitar playing out-shined everyone’s singing (it is after all a singing contest).
    As always, IMHO.

Curtis Finch was just not good enough. He looked like he was in pain when he sang and Burnell showed what a classless idiot he is by playing the “why me” card. Grow a pair boys!!

Laz my son, if you stammer like that, you cannot be arrogant, not that it’s attractive in anyone anyway. You can listen to Nicky Minaj if you want, but don’t believe the hype.

  • Happyhexer

Umm, there were several of them. Besides Curtis, there were Paul, Devin, and Burnell. I’m guessing you were thinking of Burnell?

For this reason, I am so happy the Save never came into play. The winner receives $200,000 for their gig with Disney World. Nice spending money!

  • ellen8

I meant the guy who didn’t make the Top 10 at all !!

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I still think Paul should have lasted longer than Lazaro. It is better that he is no longer under the pressure to compete.

  • Happyhexer

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I don’t remember who that was. I missed a week of Idol (on vacation), and I think it might have been when they whittled down the contestants before the top 10.

  • Happyhexer

Wait! Do you mean Charlie Askew?

  • MyDailyComment

It’s acceptable for people who made it on America’s most popular singing show to think they have talent. Especially when millions of people audition and most don’t get as far as he did.

  • MyDailyComment

I agree. Part of his talent is being cute!

  • MyDailyComment

I agree, but if he just makes records and sells them to the fans who love him, he will have a career. Just like william hung.

There is no reason for a person to go around feeling bad about themself. If you don’t have confidence there no point no matter how talented you are.

  • MyDailyComment

If he was to actually say, “you’re right I’m horrible and I suck,” there would be no place to go after that other then to say well I guess I should stop singing and go home and die.

  • MyDailyComment

Um… no. All he had to say was I made some mistakes and promise to do better in the future.

Nothing wrong with being delusional on a reality singing show that has very little to do with someone’s actual talent level, the streets of Idoldom are littered with those who made it far beyond what Lazaro ultimately did. In fact there are winners and runner-ups who are persuaded by others into thinking that they have what it takes to make it to the top only to fall by the wayside as reality catches up.

And I see nothing wrong with those Idolettes who only made it to their final positions because of back story or patrons wanting to stick it to Idol or fans voting for anyone but the other guy. But Lazaro has and is kind of unique because he takes no prisoners in his statements and his apparent lack of anything resembling humility. His middle finger is always posed in the upright position and he always seems intent on bringing down everyone to his incompetency level. That isn’t believing in yourself, that is trying to bully the non-believers. Big difference.

  • GinaBallerina

It’s all subjective, though. As one of Mariah’s biggest fans, I would argue that whatever “bad” music she has recorded (though I really don’t know what Lazaro is referring to), it is better than most singers’ good music.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joan.h.hovey Joan Hall Hovey

I agree. Lazaro is a good singer, if not great, and I think he can have a successful career in music. What people perceive as arrogance I believe is simply his defensiveness slipping into gear after the beating he’s taken on this show. A tool of survival. It surprised me he could sing at all after the blows to his fragile confidence. But he’s used to having to rise above difficulties many of us would buckle under.

  • GinaBallerina

This is a discussion about American Idol, not pollitics. Your political mentions are becoming tiresome.

  • Jackie Quinones

If he doesn’t smile he will cry, again!

  • houseone

Don’t know what bad music the judges have put out, but it’s certainly better than Lazaro’s best night. And the judges music is being bought by the consumers. It was way past time for Lazaro to go. He started out better at the auditions, and when the show went live, he just gradually got worse. America got it right this time.

  • Robert Eller

I’m not discussing politics per se. But I do seek to consider people’s behavior in a wider context, and find that worthwhile. I wouldn’t want to tire you out, so please simply ignore my comments. Apparently, at least 7 people don’t agree with you. And they didn’t tire themselves out by doing any more than clicking their approval. So do preserve your energy, Gina.

well nicki minaj isnt a judge. she has as much credibility as the kardashians. lol this show is terrible, and has been terrible ever since season 2. the only american idol episode i watched was with kelly clarkson. none of these losers can sing
