A very pregnant Season 6 Idol, Lakisha Jones performs her single “Let’s Go Celebrate” from her album So Glad I’m Me on Good Day DC Monday.

Eh, Lakisha seems to be saddled with some poor material here. It’s a third-rate song with a cheap-sounding backing track. She’s got a decent instrument–would love to hear her sing some gospel

Does she look different that she did on AI6 (besides being pg)? I don’t remember her at all. Not crazy about that song.

Blimey what a shiteos song. And the less said the better about the outfit I think.

30 seconds of the song was more than enough…..I guess it is really admirable that these kids keep trying, but at some point you have to be realistic and say that there needs to be another part of the industry, aside from recording, where you need to go.

mmmm well, I was a fan of hers on the show so I bought her CD and even though I haven’t ended up playing it much I have to say it sounds better than that. Maybe she was just having a rough day.

ah, drat, this is what I mean……

when everybody talks about artists needing to be “contemporary,” what a trap that can be.

here’s a great, great vocalist, and you can’t even tell from this crap-ditty. But if she goes old school soul like Melinda, or gospel like Mandisa, I’m sure she worries that she won’t sell well.

I think pop artists at this crazy point would do best not to second guess the marketplace, and just sing what they love. And I can’t believe that this is what Lakisha really loves.

For those who don’t remember her, here she is in her absolute prime. In my estimation, one of the great voices ever on Idol:

Thanks for the link. I do remember her now seeing her on the IA stage. I guess she was just not my cup of tea and forgot all about her. She did sound ok on that song though.

I remember Lakisha very well and this song definitely doesn’t represent the Lakisha with the power vocals that we saw on the AI stage 2 years ago. I would love to see her do some gospel material as well.
