A dubious report from UK tabloid, the Daily Mail, quoting L.A. Reid confirming UK songstress, Cheryl Cole, as a fellow X Factor US judge, has been debunked by the man himself.

Late last night, the Daily Mail claimed Reid “let slip” in an interview that Cheryl would be taking a seat next to him and Simon Cowell on the X Factor US judges panel.

“We’re gonna compete against American Idol just fine. I’m very confident. But along with Simon Cowell and Cheryl, I don’t know who the other judge is.”

The Mail reported the quote, without a source, so it comes as no surprise that Reid is now on record saying he has no idea where the quote came from.

“I don’t know where that actually came from,’ Reid tells Fox All Access, “but I know the judging roles have been quite a process for Simon…I support any decisions that he makes for the next two judges.”

Simon, cut us a break…make an announcement already, will ya?

What’s taking so long with naming the judging panel? We’ve been teased about this for weeks and weeks. Also, what’s with all the wrong information (not here; elsewhere). One day Cheryl’s on board, then she was never considered, then she’s accepted the invitation, then Simon’s apparently dashed her dreams and sent her back to the UK because she’s a no name here. Already this show is losing me……….

It happens every single year with the X Factor UK. They are tactics to try and keep the buzz going. The UK tabloid press laps it up so they keep doing it.
It doesn’t seem to work so well in America, and I am hoping it won’t.
