Seriously. Anybody who covers The Beach Boy’s “God Only Knows,” ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE BETTER not eff it up.

I am happy (and relieved) to report that Kris Allen–strumming along on a ukulele–covers this 60′s classic BEAUTIFULLY.

Wisely, Kris enlists band members to sing backup harmonies. Cuz you’ve GOT TO HAVE HARMONIES if you even hope to do a Beach Boys song any justice.

The result is a sweet take from the Season 8 American Idol winner that is faithful enough to pay homage, while adding that Allen twist we all know and love.

    I LOVE this beautiful song and Kris did a great cover!  He and the guys sounded so sweet!

    Why isn’t Kris more popular?  He isn’t as flashy as Adam, but just as talented in his own way.  If you just watch him sing, you can’t help but fall in love with the guy!

    God Only Knows is a gorgeous song, and the original studio version is quite perfect, but I like the way that Kris gives most of his covers a quite different feel from the originals.  I don’t feel inclined to make comparisons, just to admire his musicality.

    And he has great taste in music!

    I never realized what a beautiful voice Torres has and I love Kris’s kitchen.The gray paint really goes well with the white cabinets.I also love the butcher block table.I’m totally addicted to this video.I hope and pray Kris sings this in his Long Island concert.

    i have noticed Torres beautiful tone before, when he sings backup for Kris.  While Cale has a really nice voice, Torres’ smooth tone appeals to me more.

    WTSS in Buffalo will be live streaming the concert Kris is headlining tonight on their website :). Kris is the headliner, and is scheduled to go on at approx. 8:15 pm East Coast time.

    Also, one of the RCA East Coast promo guys is with Kris for this show. Hopefully that’s a good sign (the show is sold out – yay)
