    Grats to Kelly!

What a great milestone for Kelly to reach after 10 years into her career! I’m hoping that the Grammy voters will regard Kelly as a real contender. Another Grammy would be just fantastic, even though making the short list of nominees is great.

    Yay, Kelly!

“Stronger” is possibly the catchiest song any idol alum has ever released. Kelly’s career longevity is impressive, even outside of the idol bubble.

  • waitingforthe1

I completely agree.  Kelly’s career goes far beyond the idol bubble and she holds her own against any artist in the business!

I could never get into Kelly. I guess it’s because most of her songs seem to have this “anthem” feel to them, or deal with the same thing…relationships. My Life Would Suck Without You, Since You’ve Been Gone ect. Mr. Know it All might be the exception. Not sure what her appeal is. Ah well congrats either way.

  • Andy

I don’t care if her songs carry any ‘anthem’ or not.. I just like her singing and her strong voice. Catch her performance with Vince Gill at the CMA award. Very understated and restrained, just great, flawless performnace.

Mr. Know it All might be the exception

Sober, Catch My Breath, Breakaway, Because of You (which is about her family).

And I wouldn’t really consider Walk Away or Already Gone to be particularly anthemic. Not even really Behind these Hazel Eyes.

And those are just the exceptions among the singles. Most pop artists are going to have single discographies weighted to songs about romantic relationships. I don’t think she’s that far from the median there.

Where she is off the median is in power and phrasing. She has good instincts and the vocal command to display them.

Great,, i think this is her biggest hit.  “People like Us” will be a smash hit, too
