American Idol Season 7 winner, Jordin Sparks and Glee’s Matthew Morrison perform live tonight on A Capitol 4th, airing on PBS stations.   Jimmy Smits hosts the show.

    I was at the Memorial Day thing. Being in DC, I stay away from DC on the Fourth of July and didn’t go to rehearsal because of the forecast. So just judged the anthem from the TV and I would say Jordin was much better than Pia. A certain warmth is there in Jordin’s performance that I appreciate, much more than Pia’s scripted arm movements that made me have to stifle a giggle during the anthem.

    Matt Morrison – thought he did a better job on the West Side Story song. Loved Kelli O’Hara! And as a Kris fan, I agree it was fun to hear SGT arranged and performed by the National Symphony Orchestra and Matt for a national TV audience! I also thought Matt had a few vocal issues, but I don’t think the audience really noticed and he sold the performance. On my ipod, I do like the song a lot.

    I apologize for my comments on Jordin’s dress. I appreciate the comment about the warmth exhibited in Jordin’s version. She did a nice job.

    All I could think of when I watched Morrison singing Kris Allen’s song was that Kris would do it better.

    But Morrison is his element singing Tonight with Kelli O’Hara. Plus they have that chemistry appearing together on stage in The Light in the Piazza and South Pacific. I saw them in both those shows and they are wonderful together.

    Kelly Clarkson does the NA best, but Jordin did a nice job. Mathew Morrison is awful. Did Jimmy Smits get a facelift? He looks so strange now.
