Jennifer Lopez Named People’s “World’s Most Beautiful Woman”

The judges’ gig on American Idol continues to raise Jennifer Lopez’s profile as she is officially announced as People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman” this morning.

“Being beautiful is part of my job!” Jlo tells People.

Jennifer is set to get out from behind the judges’ desk to  perform on American Idol on May5, the week her latest album Love is set to be released.

She’ll also premiere a new music video for “I’m Into You” on the Today show, Monday, May 2.

Season 7 Idol, Jennifer Hudson is also on the list. Check out a sneak peek at People.

“Being beautiful is part of my job!” Jlo tells People.

LMAO! OK, JLo. This judging gig is working out really well for her, isn’t it? I didn’t realize that both JLo and her hubbie are managed by Fuller and are depicted on his XIX Entertainment website:

I think she is beautiful and lol that one of the highlights of Idol now for me is analyzing her hair/make-up choices.

  • windmills

I really thought they wanted a CHR ready winner from s10. They may have gotten their wish with the winner being Jennifer Lopez :P

  • wjmtv

As a woman over 40 I gotta say, this is pretty awesome.

And she is beautiful. Seems pretty nice too. But then, I’ve liked her since she was a flygirl. :)

  • Kirsten

Jennifer Lopez is stunning. Absolutely luminescent on Idol.

She’s also the most component judge. Good for her on taking a chance and re-energizing her career.

  • LoveDaRocker

For starters, the idea of a magazine staff selecting who is the most beautiful woman in the (whole frigging) world is, in itself, ridiculous.
That they chose a woman who is not even close, even if the field was “women from New York,” is just funny.

And I am not only thinking superficial beauty (in which she is, for sure, not even the most beautiful Puertorican-decent woman in the world), but also, what has she done to be considered a beautiful person? Has she brokered a piece deal between nations? Has she volunteered substantially to help victims of disasters, or human right violations?

Don’t get me wrong, she is beautiful, and probably very nice.

  • SpenserJ

I think she is beautiful and lol that one of the highlights of Idol now for me is analyzing her hair/make-up choices.

I know! That’s part of the fun for me – “hmm, what will JLo be wearing tonight?” Honestly, each week she looks so unbelievably stunning to me, my envy is too deep to measure. Also, she inspires me to hit the gym :).

But then, I’ve liked her since she was a flygirl.

Me too. Oh how badly I wanted to be a flygirl too LOL.

Being a part of these “People” lists is always pubicist-driven and are just for fun. They aren’t meant to be taken seriously.

ETA: That having been said, JLo is a worthy candidate and it’s cool that a woman over 40 is at the top of this list.

That’s not really a big deal. I remember Julia Roberts getting the title many times.

You have to wonder how much her people paid for this cover, though. They will also bring it up on Idol. Looks like Idol has saved Jennifer Lopez’s career.

  • Kirkee

Ladies and gentlemen, your star for season 10 of American Idol, Jennifer Lopez.

    She sure is beautiful.

  • aa618892

Good for Jennifer! I have always thought that she is stunning, a true natural beauty. I also applaud her for being proud of her curves and does not follow the Hollywood trends. Her beautiful features (so far) are not artificial and that body, well, wow. Over 40 and a mother of twins, yeah, I say she deserves it.

  • tinawina

I really thought they wanted a CHR ready winner from s10. They may have gotten their wish with the winner being Jennifer Lopez :P

    LMAO! So true.

  • Nina1

Jennifer Lopez is stunning. Absolutely luminescent on Idol.

Yes, she is. She seems to glow. That said, I used to see her on television with Ben Affleck and without make-up on at Red Sox games. I thought then she looked like a sorta pretty neighborhood girl, not a stunner. I think Jennifer feels she should look like a star and puts a lot of energy into it. It works.

  • abbysee

And she is beautiful. Seems pretty nice too. But then, I’ve liked her since she was a flygirl.

    Yep.

Has she brokered a piece deal between nations? Has she volunteered substantially to help victims of disasters, or human right violations?

Nope, Angelina did that already. Seriously? I didn’t know that was the job of People’s most beautiful.

That’s not really a big deal. I remember Julia Roberts getting the title many times.

Should we have taken that more seriously, truly love Julia, but I demand a recount.

  • standtotheright

Being a part of these “People” lists is always pubicist-driven and are just for fun. They aren’t meant to be taken seriously.

Exactly. If it were really supposed to be some kind of objective consensus, they’d only do one issue every 20 years.

    That said, she is stunning.

I really thought they wanted a CHR ready winner from s10. They may have gotten their wish with the winner being Jennifer Lopez

    I second the LMAO.

  • fuzzywuzzy

That’s not really a big deal. I remember Julia Roberts getting the title many times.

Julia has 12 “Most Beautiful” designations, the latest of which was in 2010 when she was 43 (Julia was born in 1967).

You have to wonder how much her people paid for this cover, though. They will also bring it up on Idol. Looks like Idol has saved Jennifer Lopez’s career.

I think that it depends on the person and how “popular” (in terms of issues sold) they are deemed to be. The cost of the cover probably varies a lot, but in JLo’s case, perhaps her high profile on Idol made it less expensive than some others?

  • LoveDaRocker

Being a part of these “People” lists is always pubicist-driven and are just for fun. They aren’t meant to be taken seriously.

I think is a title thing. “World’s Most Beautiful Woman.” Too much. People’s 50 Most Beautiful People, somehow, makes it more clear that it’s within the “People Magazine” universe (i.e., entertainment, celebrity, etc.).

[On fighting for worthy causes] Nope, Angelina did that already. Seriously? I didn’t know that was the job of People’s most beautiful.

I added that to preempt the “beauty is not only about looks” crowd.

  • larc

It’s very peculiar that the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” in any US publication usually lives in this country and is never other than a celebrity. Wonder how many candidates were actually considered? With a title like that, the logical answer should be every beautiful woman on earth. The honest answer here is more likely one: JLo.

  • sma11ie

I think she is beautiful and lol that one of the highlights of Idol now for me is analyzing her hair/make-up choices.

LOL, me three, or five, or whatever.

Jennifer Lopez is stunning. Absolutely luminescent on Idol.

That is the perfect word to describe her. My friend went to a taping and said she glows in person too. Ha.

  • BeachBum

GiVE ME A FREAKING BREAK!! They need to put an asterisk on this “award”. It should say “most beautiful women with shit loads of make-up on her face.”. If you don’t believe me, Google “Jennifer Lopez without make-up”. To say she is very average and plain would be a BIG understatement. True beauty requires no make-up and no expensive clothing or jewelry. In other words, natural beauty… and Jennifer does NOT have that!! Rock On…

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Nope, Angelina did that already. Seriously? I didn’t know that was the job of People’s most beautiful.

This is People magazine, not Time. Time owns People, but People outsells it. I might have a problem if she got Time’s person of the year award. As it is, she’s beautiful, so why not?

  • SpenserJ

To me, true beauty requires no make-up and no expensive clothing or jewelry. In other words, natural beauty… and Jennifer does NOT have that!!

So, with enough makeup and the right clothes, SuBo could look like Jennifer? I’m about to go apeshit on the girl at the Clinique counter, because clearly that moron has been selling me the wrong shit!

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

So, with enough makeup and the right clothes, SuBo could look like Jennifer? I’m about to go apeshit on the girl at the Clinique counter, because clearly that moron has been selling me the wrong shit!

LMAO. You and me both, sister!

  • SpenserJ

    You and me both, sister!

I’m trying to figure out how I got to be this old without ever hearing about the magic makeup :).

    LOL! True.

If you went around asking people who is the most beautiful woman in the world, how many would say it’s JLo? Or even, most beautiful on TV (or, probably, in that issue of People)?
I can’t see it. She was always a cute or attractive woman, but I think that’s about it.

To me, true beauty requires no make-up and no expensive clothing or jewelry. In other words, natural beauty… and Jennifer does NOT have that!! Rock On…

I agree. Someone like Liz Taylor in her prime looked great without makeup.

  • jammasta

    *drool*

That’s all I have to say.

  • NOLA

Congrats to Jennifer. She is gorgeous!

  • NOLA

Wow! The women are agreeing and the men are disagreeing.
Could it be that the men are booting off all the gals this season, and not the women? Hmmm …..

  • tierbee

So, with enough makeup and the right clothes, SuBo could look like Jennifer? I’m about to go apeshit on the girl at the Clinique counter, because clearly that moron has been selling me the wrong shit!

Hahaha, me too! I need me a stylist, STAT!

It’s People magazine, not the Nobel Peace Prize. They like to make lists – it’s a list, with pictures. I think she’s stunning, and she’s never looked better.

  • Buffynut

I think she is gorgeous! I love that she is Latina (I am not, btw.) I love that she is not skinny. I love that she is not in her 20s!
I went to an Idol show this season and she seems very nice. She and Steven both interacted with the audience like the old judges never, ever did. I imagine their friendliness has been a learning curve for both Randy and Ryan. It was almost as fun watching them as it was watching the contestants.

  • BeachBum

Subo actually does look better with makeup… as do MOST women. That’s why TRUE beauty should be decided by women and yes, even men ‘au natural’. All I know is that my wife looks as good in the morning as she does before we go out to dinner… and thank the good Lord for that!! Please do the search for JLO without makeup and HONESTLY tell me she is deserves such an “honor”!?

[interrupts running dive for facial cleanser with exfoliating crystals to congratulate JLo’s publicist]

    [vows to take hydration seriously]

Seriously, she looks purty enough, and at least we’ve evolved as a society to the point where boofulosity doesn’t require being a WASP-y blonde who’s under 25. (My mom rants about those days.)

  • larc

    ross says:

I know women in my town who are more beautiful than JLo. They aren’t hard to find. Such hugely exaggerated titles as “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” have been thrown around so loosely over the years that everybody likely knows by now they aren’t based on fact at all.

  • colette

Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder, remember? And beauty’s only skin deep too — yeah, yeah, yeah.

Naming someone “the most beautiful woman in the world” is ridiculous to me. J-Lo is (to my eyes) gorgeous, and she plays for plenty of help to show it off (makeup artists, trainers, probably botox docs, etc.). It is her “business,” just as it’s been Cher’s and Diana Ross’s business to stay forever “young.”

But there is a kind of inner beauty that shines out of people who aren’t technically knock-outs. Like Crystal, who radiated a kind of loveliness that seemed so natural. And Allison I., who is so young and vibrant.

Meanwhile, J-Lo is getting so much out of this A-I thing — and I wonder about her husband, Marc Antony. He seems very supportive, which is great. But he is a fantastic singer — and hasn’t put out a hit album in years. Hope he gets in gear again.

  • LoveDaRocker

Justin Bieber must have had other commitments …

  • lla2827

I think JLo is quite pretty. I don’t take the headline Most beautiful in world seriously. I think she would look fine without all the make up too.

Someone mentioned Liz Taylor who was beautiful without too much enhancement. Another one from that era who wore very little make up even in her movies was Ava Gardner. No wonder Sinatra never got over her

  • JudyOhio

I think she is beautiful and lol that one of the highlights of Idol now for me is analyzing her hair/make-up choices.

I found myself doing that too, along with noticing what she’s wearing as they announce the judges and they come walking in on the stage!

People magazine has been doing the “most beautiful” and “hottest” people etc. for years. Sells mags. Be that as it may, I do think JLo is very attractive and I’m pleased for her that she’s on the cover. She’s having a fantastic comeback.

ETA: LOL, I totally screwed up the blockquote thing and couldn’t fix it. Tried to put quote marks and that went all screwy too! Look over it, it’s not like I don’t know how to do this, I just don’t know how to EDIT and then do it.

Geez, the more I tried to fix the above the worse it got! I give up!

  • MalwareDie

JLo became the alpha dog on AI after Pia was eliminated.

  • LoveDaRocker

JLo became the alpha dog on AI after Steven Tyler decided to check out.

  • iluvai

I think JLo is beautiful with or without make-up.

  • Trina

Many years ago, like around right before Maid In Manhattan came out I actually saw Jennifer up close, albeit briefly, walking inNYC. She had what looked like almost no makeup on, very n atural and she was gorgeous. Sometimes Idol overdoes it with her makeup and she doesn’t need it.

  • BootStar

Please do the search for JLO without makeup and HONESTLY tell me she is deserves such an “honor”!?

Sorry, she looks pretty damn good to me! That being said, the “honor” is really not that big of a deal, is it? I mean these are the same people who declared Taylor Hicks (Taylor HICKS!) America’s “Hottest Bachelor” in 2006.

Seriously, it’s bought and paid for by these peoples’ publicists, but I have no problem with JLo getting the honor. I’ve always thought she was stunning, and I LOVE that they have selected a curvaceous mother of twins as their “chosen one.”

This Idol gig sure is working out for Jenny from the Block, LOL. Am I the only person who thinks of poor Paula Abdul every time I read about JLo in the news? Pauler must be secretly seething.

  • Tony

She may be vocally challenged, but she is fine as hell!

  • DogBitez

I think she’s a beautiful woman, no doubt. But the most beautiful woman in the world? Did People magazine scour the planet, eliminating all the other billions of females, before settling on Lopez? Or could this just possibly be the most beautiful American celebrity who is currently on a highly-rated American reality television show and who also happens to have an enormous public relations push behind her at the moment due to the release of a new album? Guess that would have been an awkward headline for the magaine… wouldn’t have fit.

  • PamReid

I never used to be much of JoLo fan, BUT, she has never looked better in her life than she does now. Her job requires glamour, so make up, beautiful clothes, etc. play a role. She is over 40, not a size 0, not blonde, etc. I think it is fabulous for a woman like her to be recognized this way. Does it really have any meaning? No, but it is a good thing for a woman like her to be recognized by People mag this way. I like the choice. JMHO

  • abbysee

I think she’s a beautiful woman, no doubt. But the most beautiful woman in the world?

Considering how subjective that is, why even ask? There is no consensus on that whatsoever!

To say that it’s all makeup is just totally laughable. The woman has a great foundation to begin with. Period.

  • poohbear

Jennifer Lopez is rather self-obsessed. My friend was working at a recording studio in NYC many years ago while JLo was recording there.

One time, he was in the elevator with her and he saw her looking at the gold records on the wall. He thought she was reading what was written on them, but as he looked closer, he noticed that she was staring at herself in the reflection. LOL!
