Jen Hirsh Covers Bob Maley’s “Is This Love” (VIDEO)

You may remember Jen Hirsh. She was a Top 24 contestant on the latest season of American Idol. One of her shining moments was during Hollywood and Las Vegas as part of the spectacular Groovesauce and Lady and The Spectacles.

Here she is, performing a very sweet and soulful cover of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love.” The judges and America really let some good ones get away. Check it out.

    I wouldn’t say the judges and America let her get away.  I’d say that she let herself get away with two not very good performances in one week when it counted.

    i agree… she definitely could have made a stronger impression. or maybe she’s just too low key for Idol. there were 5 girls who were just better than her. maybe even 6 (Hallie). but if Shannon didn’t get through to the top 10, and instead Erika would have gotten that spot, i think Jen would and should have gotten the wild card. also, the whole One and Only off with Elise really hurt her. and that was something the producers did to her, not entirely her fault.

    Is she free yet to do new music? Must sucks major balls be eliminated on Top 24. U can’t tour, can’t compete again and can’t release new music while few people still recognizing you.

    Jen got the shaft and sabotaged by TPTB in favor of Elise. The producers picked the same Adele song for them both to sing. Hmm. Wonder what happened BTS. I do think she did herself in though on the WC slot. In the spoilers (before the live rounds began) they mentioned Jen, Elise and even Shannon as one of the strong/frontrunners for the girl side. And Danny Gokey 2.o along with Creighton and that DJ kid as the frontrunners for the boy side. There was no mention of Jessica, Hollie, Joshua or Phillip being a frontrunner or a producers favorite when spoilers came in. Interesting what happens when the live shows start to begin.

    Elise talked about the One and Only thing in her interview for Idology with Slezak. Elise chose the song first but didn’t really tell Jen. Jen had another song and Nigel told her she should change it. then she mentioned One and Only and they told her to do it. even though they knew that Elise chose it too. i think they were aiming for Jen to take the wild card, but Erika totally owned that night.

    im really loving the purple and yellow hues of the video… but the song isn’t doing much for me. i don’t know why because i generally liked her voice.

    lol noone ruined anything for anyone… im still sore about Haley Johnsen and Reed Grimm … but even I have to say… they didn’t deliver when it counted. It was simply… half the contestants had to get eliminated. simple as tht.. the fact they made it to the top 24 meant they had to have some talent. so congrats on them.

    On the good side… Something I like about Jen is that almost… coo like whiny thing she does in some songs that really make it work … and its quite cool… never heard something like that…. other songs it doesnt … worked in Oh Darling didn’t in Georgia on My Mind IMO. 

    The cover was just alright for me. But good shes putting music out.

    She started feeling the pressure to hit the big notes but from her, they just sounded ‘shouty’  She and Grimm really faltered when it counted.
