As a tribule to Jason’s most excellent cover of MTM, I should mention that out today in bookstores is ‘A Freewheelin’ Time: A Memoir of Greenwich Village in the Sixties,’ by Suzie Rotolo.
Rotolo is the woman walking with Dylan on the cover of the “Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan,” released in 1963. They were gf/bf for four years from the time Dylan moved to NY when he was 20 and Suzie was 17.
It was a turbulent four years. When it ended it was ‘mutual heartbreak.’ Now 64 years old, Suzie is an artist living in Greenwhich village.
Judging from the rave reviews, this soars far above the typical ‘kiss and tell’ narrative.

I read the average SAT score in Texas was down around 990, so comparatively, he did excellently!

I loved Julietà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interview with Jason. Someone pointed out she had braids in her hair. I think that makes her a dreadhead. She treated him with intelligence and respect. It was nice for a change. Probably my very favorite interview of all so far, since heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been eliminated.

His girlfriend Mandy is pretty and has a cute personality!

Actually, it’s better than not too shabby. Of the 1600 available points for the English & Math portions of the SAT , the average for college bound students is somewhere close to 1000. This kid is in no way dumb, and he’s far above average.

Juliet was the best interviewer so far.
Also…when I watched TV this morning Fox had him on at 8:08 am and none of the questions were about the matador pants. Did he come out again later?

1600 is still the base scoring system for the English & Math portions. They added an additional Writing test in 2005. That has an additional number of points (I think it’s 600 or 800).

Thanks for all these “vids” MJ and thank also to purple for the link to the radio interview. Juliet was really great interviewing Jason. She was fun and respectful and didn’t cover the same old interviewing type questions. Jason is getting better and better at answering questions and seems a little more comfortable in general with people being interested about him. And, he just seems so much happier (when he’s singing and speaking) than when he was on Idol. Good for him!! Just seeing him so “at peace” at having all that presssure off him makes me happy. And, his little gf is just adorable. Now he can pursue his style of music and make a CD that he’s proud of and that we’ll love. Don’t ever change, Jason and keep the music comin’.

Hmmmm. I think it’s a good thing to get the girlfriend thing out in the open. Now there’s no need for photographers to hunt him down to try to get the picture of him being out with a girl if it’s all out in the open. Besides, the sane fans don’t ever REALLY think they’ll be the girlfriend, and the insane fans won’t stop their irrational fantasies of being the one, just because of a little girlfriend (or wife for that matter.)

I love Jason, I love Juliet for being so nice to him (she has to be a closet Dreadhead..wonder what her # is..), and I love MJ’s Big Blog for posting all these interviews that I would have missed! 1. I hope he chooses something other than Crazy. The guys performed it last year on tour, with instruments, and I think the song has been overplayed, just my opinion. I really hope he will choose something new.

2. I wonder if they will have an instrumental number with Brooke, Jason, David, David and anyone else who can play an instrument? It would be fun to hear!

MJ, I thought that too. Thanks for sharing. I think he has more raw, natural potential than any other newcomer around. I have been on youtube playing acoustic guitar music, just thinking about how good he sounds now with little training, just imagine after he has a few years under his belt. He truly was out experienced by the others in the top 10 but still managed to get further than most of them on his natural ability (and his looks didn’t hurt either.)

That was obvious to me, too. Yay! I am hopeful Jason gets an indie deal. MJ, what do you think his chances are?

I agree with Idolbeat about Jason…he really is a musician with some great instincts about music. That’s what I get from his interviews with Slezak. I love how Slezak is respectful and intelligent and doesn’t condescend with idiot remarks like some other interviewers or the TMZ goons.

This is a kid that played drums, taught himself guitar a couple of years ago, taught himself the ukelele in a short time on AI for the song, and has some strong opinions about music and how he connects with it. He’s got the right drive for what he wants to do. It may not fit into the AI pop mold but then who listens to that 24/7?

In our house we listen to classic rock, broadway, jazz, big band/swing, classical, and a variety of ethno-world music. Kids are in an arts’ magnet school and hubby is a musician so I can’t imagine limiting to one genre of music. I suspect Jason Castro will be of the mold to draw from a variety of influences. Certainly will be interesting to watch him progress. How wonderful to be 21 with all that ahead of you.

Oh, and I really respect how Jason and the others avoid getting drawn into making any negative comments. They seem to take care of each other.

Jason has improved so much with his interviews and he seemed almost chatty compared to KLC, MJ & Brooke. I found that really funny because all 3 can talk! I’m sure we won’t recognize Jason after the tour, he’ll be a pro. I only hope 19E doesn’t sign him cause that will kill his musicality.

MJ that is good to hear….I left a comment at EW saying that Slezak was a dreadhead….I knew it. LOL Seriously though in many ways fourth place was perfect for Jason. His media rounds were all very positive and helped to dispel the image that Idol created for him. Michael Slezak’s 3 part interview was wonderful, thoughtful and caring. I truly hope he has a nice career making the kind of music that he loves, music that connects with him and the listener. I’ve been playing him on my iPod every day and adore his recording voice – with a little nurturing and training the sky is the limit for him I believe. He will always be my favorite from this season. Looking forward to the finale to see him perform, and to the tour this summer.

Sumidol, thanks for the tip. I had to go back and re-read the “depends” comment you referenced. Whatever.

My husband has done so much more for me than change my Depends and I would do the same for him. He held my hand and nursed me through 6 chemotherapy treatments, lovingly showed me that a mastectomy and premature menopause made me no less desirable, fathered a teenaged stepson with the patience of a saint, flew 3000 miles to handle my sister’s unexpected death when I was too sick from chemo to travel, drove 3000 miles in 3 days to move my handicapped brother in with us, committed himself to God after my cancer spread to three places, and I could go on. He’s all mine, but I wish everyone had someone just like him. I have no doubt he will be changing my Depends — I just hope it’s later rather than sooner.

Ahh Terrie, I know we are not supposed to chat on here but I want to just say one more thing. I wish you all the best and I can only hope that everyone is able to find what you have found. I know that I did, he also took on three stepchildren and gave them a father again, we were also all babtized together as a family – the day after we were married. See, Mr Jason – you have done more than you know with your music. You brought a lot of people together – gave us some joy and peace with your music. I KNOW purple – no more front page but I did bookmark this so I can go back and look over all that the 3 p’s and Mj have put on here about Jason!!

I noticed the top 12 were seated according to their placement on the show, with Amanda and David H in the back row by themselves. Middle row was 6-10. Front row of idols was 1-5.

I am truly looking forward to a reprise of Hallelujah tonight.
Can’t imagine that they will let them do an entire song – the show is only two hours, right, and they have so much planned – but hopefully it will be a little longer version. And what would make it even more wonderful is if they’d put it on iTunes! (crossing fingers!)
