iHeartRadio Music Awards 2015 Winners List

AdamLambert-iheart2015

The second annual iHeartRadio Awards happen tonight, with performances by Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Rihanna, Iggy Azalea, Sam Smith, Madonna, Jason Aldean, Jamie Foxx, Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo, Snoop Dogg, Nate Ruess, Alesso and Florida Georgia Line.

Justin Timberlake will receive the 2015 iHeartRadio Innovators Award.

Jamie Foxx will be hosting. Watch for Adam Lambert and Fifth Harmony on the red carpet and in the audience! I’ll be keeping track of the winners, and anything else interesting that happens here.

The winners in most categories are determined by the most plays across the iHeartMedia conglomerate of radio stations across the country.  Best Lyrics, Best Fan Army and Renegade categories were determined by fan vote.

Jennifer Hudson and Iggy Azalea open the show with a performance of their single “Trouble,” followed by more jail imagery with Nick Jonas and his latest single, “Chains.”

Mixed response to Jamie Foxx’s Marvin Gaye jokes. Did I hear booing at the notion that Marvin made a lot of money this year? Also, joking about Bruce Jenner’s transition didn’t seem to go over that well, either.

AHAHAHAH. When Taylor Swift won “Best Lyrics,” Justin Timberlake got up to accept her award. I can’t wait for the gif! Taylor, Justin and Ryan Seacrest are sitting at the same table.

Billy Eichner yelling out pop star names at a mosh pit of girls, devolving to “Robert Durst” and the girls continue to scream. He introduces Florida-Georgia Line as the band that played at his Bar Mitzvah. Love Billy.

Meghan Trainor sings her new song “Dear Future Husband.” Why are her songs so dumb? Watching her perform makes me want to stab my eye out.

That bit Jamie Foxx did in audience about “award face” was another excuse for Taylor Swift to mock her “surprise face.” And what’s with all of the fawning over Chris Brown tonight? I guess we’ve forgiven him for being an abusive assclown. Well, I haven’t!

Kelly Clarkson sings her single “Heart Beat Song” in a very pretty lacy blue dress. She also sounded terrific.

Fashionista, Tom Ford, begins the tribute to Justin Timberlake. Oh, he designed his 20/20 concert tour. Justin is doing great humbleface in the audience. His speech was earnest, heartfelt and funny. Great job, Justin. Now he’s heading home to his pregnant wife, Jessica Biel.

Taraji P. Henson introduces Rihanna. I want to watch that again just to hear Taraji yell, “Bitch better have my money!” Wow. This song is really terrible!

After Sam Smith wins the “Best New Artist” award, a taped performance of “Lay Me Down,”–not even sung live–airs. It looks like it was taped at the same time he shot the music video. Rip off!

Jason Aldean thanked his new wife, Brittany, when he accepted Country Song of the Year.

This new Madonna song is…not impressive. Maybe that’s why she had Taylor Swift join her on stage to play guitar.

Obviously, the winners know ahead of time that they won. There’s Ariana Grande hoisting hers from backstage at her show. Most of the winners aren’t even there to accept their awards in person.

When Madonna appeared to hand out the Song of the Year award, I KNEW it was probably Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift wins Artist of the Year. The end.

This awards show is pretty meaningless. So much self-congratulation and celebration of commerce! I’ll be interested to see the ratings tomorrow.
