60 Seconds With Carrie Underwood – After discussing songs from her new album ‘Blown Away’ in detail and sharing her on-stage anxieties, country superstar Carrie Underwood took a moment to answer the truly pressing questions that all fans want to know. OK, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. J.Lo Talks Idol Exit & Aretha Franklin As Possible Judge – Reports of Mariah Carey and Miley Cyrus as possible judges have surfaced since she and Steven Tyler announced their exit — and even Aretha Franklin threw her hat into the ring as replacement — and J.Lo weighed in on the Queen of Soul possibly joining the panel. “She’s amazing…it’s such a delicate thing to find chemistry for that panel. That was another thing that made me think about it. It’s like once Steven kind of walked away as well, I was just like, ‘Ugh, it’s just all gonna be different,’” she told Access. “They’re gonna have their work cut out for them. I think just to find that balance again and that magic that happens when the people sit there.” – Read more at Access Hollywood

Critic”s and Twitter’s are people who have likes and dislikes and some have their own agenda’s to pan someone who beat out there fav or to heap piles of praise on their fav usually starting with the phrase “I was not a fan of  …. but man are they the most fantastic performer ever put on this planet.”  So it goes  I try to enjoy the vids for what they are this is a celebration of the show and the top 10/11 who made it and everyone who got caught up in the excitement.  Hopefully it will help all of them to head off in the right direction for a carrer of some sort in music they all have fans (or else they wouldn’t be there) who want them to succeed.

    IDOL GETTING “REINVIGORATED”
Exits of Tyler and Lopez Bespeak a Makeover of the Longtime Ratings Juggernaut

    July 23, 2012

Potential contestants aren’t the only ones busting out their performing skills in advance of the next season of American Idol. Fox execs are also searching for a more vital part of the cast.

“Dozens” of candidates to replace judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are being interviewed, a person close to the show tells the Wall Street Journal, adding that changes in the judging panel will be “dramatic.” Among those rumored to be in the mix are Miley Cyrus, Kanye West and—as previously reported—Mariah Carey.

“You want a mix of star power and credibility,” said the source, who mentioned only that the new judges would be “different” from Lopez and Steven Tyler. “Once you pick them, you cross your fingers.”

Last night my mom called to tell me she had just been to see Ballroom with a Twist at the Ogunquit Playhouse (a lovely old seaside summer theater in a lovely Maine seaside town)…I guess Ballroom with a Twist features a bunch of Dancing with the Stars pros. Anyway she said there were two singers from Idol -Gina Gloksen and David Hernandez.  She askef if I remembered them.  I said I did.  Anyway, she said they were really good, and that she and her friends loved the show and loved them.  Nice to see that there are good opportunities out there for lesser known idols and that their performances are being well received

Thanks CanadianLady for the Landau videos.  I love to hear him sing and that Mustang Sally video was a killer.  I loved that little old man leading the orchestra that was trying to get down and lead at the same time lol.

That was a good article. Frankly I’m glad to see that FOX is getting more involved in the workings of the show now. Nigel and Ken, et al, have been left to their own devices for far too long. I’ll never forget in Season 10 when they did that excellent series of nostalgic Going Home commercials featuring the previous winners, people were sending Nigel tweets complimenting them, and Nigel was quite dismissive and pointed out that they were initiated and done by by FOX, and that Idol had nothing to do with them. Nigel was too busy slagging the previous winners at that time. LOL

It has always struck me as odd that Idol doesn’t seem to have much regard for it’s own history, but I have a gut feeling that FOX does. I really believe that they have gotten more involved because of the slipping ratings and are behind the recent phenomenon of having a previous Idol back on almost every results show, even if they aren’t the the big success stories. I also think they were behind the last minute Idol reunion thing for Simon. I’d love to see Fox produce an All Idol Christmas Special/Reunion or something this year. Great promo for the upcoming season, and yeah it’s kinda cheesy, but let’s not pretend that Idol isn’t a big ol’ cheesefest anyway. It’s half the charm.

I’m really hoping he does a Motown album next. I think he does those songs a lot better than the Sinatra. He does two more Motown songs on the 5th video. And he’s appearing with the Temptations July 27th.

I’m another who greatly appreciated the link, CanadianLady!

I really liked the Mustang Sally performance. Landau really got his groove on during that song….very entertaining. He seems to be becoming more and more comfortable on stage and really growing as an entertainer.

And although I understand the Sinatra appeal, I would really love to hear his original stuff.

    Thanks again for the links!

He can be pretty funny too. And also good with voices/accents.

I like when he talked about how uncomfortable he was when AGT gave him the stairs and all the dancers. He was a bit off that night and freely admits he was terrified he’d fall on the stairs and had no idea what to do with the dancers. :)

Yeah, I really want to hear his own material. I’m guessing it’s more Motown,  but who knows?

Cool anecdote about Gina and David. I really think we need to expand our definitions of success and flopping when it comes to the Idols. I’m so sick of Lee and Taylor, and so many others being relegated to punchlines. These are talented, ambitious, hard-working people making a living in music, one way or another. That’s impressive to me, on any level.

One of my favorite YouTube comedians Glozell said on Twitter (@Glozell) that she started working for American Idol Online! Not exactly sure what kind of things she’ll be doing, but expect comedy to be involved. Also, Jessica tweeted her and she flipped out.

Ouch. Of course attending these shows year after year might make him a bit like Simon toward the end of his Idol run. Every thing is boring. Good for Jessica, Deandre, and Skylar though.

I agree I loved the cheesy Christmas special when they had the junior Idols and Clay Aiken hosted.

At least this season’s half naked guy looks more realistic than they one that they had last year.

I also see that they are following Nigel’s belief that viewers want to see contestants who are having medical issues.

It would be cute if Jessica and Deandre were on Glee.
