Beckham makes ‘Idol’ top 5; Urban sees long careers for some – White House resident and piano crooner Clark Beckham sang his way into the top five on “American Idol” Wednesday night. And while he has reason to celebrate, judge/country singer Keith Urban said that contestants who didn’t progress through the season shouldn’t give up hope. His message? Winning isn’t everything. “It’s an eclectic group that’s really, really strong,” Urban said. “I really do believe that we have the likelihood of seeing artists in this group that don’t win that will go on to have really long careers, like the Daughtrys and the Jennifer Hudsons and the Adam Lamberts. Adam Lambert Will Tour as Solo Artist ‘If People Like This Record’ – In Billboard’s recent interview with Adam Lambert for the Pop Shop Podcast, the singer discussed his upcoming new album The Original High (due out June 16), his new single “Ghost Town,” his process of finding a new sound in Sweden and why he ultimately rejected an 80’s covers project. Another topic that came up during the interview (but didn’t make the podcast) was Lambert’s upcoming touring plans — which will hinge on the general reaction to his forthcoming third studio effort.
