Nicholas David: The Voice Was A ‘True Blessing’

Via Access Hollyoood

Chart Hits Made Cassadee Pope the Inevitable Winner on ‘The Voice’ – Pope’s win started to seem like a foregone conclusion after she scored a bona fide chart hit with her coach-penned song “Over You,” which, given the new rules of ranking for this season, gave her what proved to be an insurmountable lead. Songs that chart in the Top 10 on iTunes being weighted (multiplied by 10) and counted toward a cumulative score, to insure against the whims of week-to-week performances (see also, infamously, Jennifer Hudson on Idol). The move seemed designed to insulate popular contestants against getting voted off the show after an off night by making clearer distinctions between who was capturing America’s heart and who they wish would GTFO. The downside was less cruel drama of instant and unjust eliminations, which is kind of the whole reason to watch reality singing competitions. – Read more at Rolling Stone

Terry McDermott Settles For Second On The Voice – Terry McDermott tells’s Laura Saltman why he knew teammate Cassadee Pope would win “The Voice.” Also, he chats about “what a pleasure” it was to perform with Peter Frampton.

The Voice Winner Cassadee Pope: I Thought I Was Done After the Knockout Rounds – “I kind of thought at the knockouts that I was done. I was not happy with that performance,” the 23-year-old told reporters backstage after winning the singing competition. “That was probably my lowest moment as far as my performance, but I think seeing iTunes has helped me get through this season with a little bit more ease. It gave me a little bit of a heads-up for what was going to happen.” The biggest prediction Shelton had for Pope’s upcoming record? Big sales! “I think she’s going to sell at least one million more records than Kelly,” Shelton said with a laugh.- Read more at The Voice

Cassadee Pope On Her The Voice Win: ‘I’m Numb!’ – “I’m numb. I can’t feel anything,” the singer from Team Blake, who bested her teammate Terry McDermott, who came in second and Team Cee Lo’s Nicholas David (who came in third) to take the Season 3 crown, told’s Laura Saltman after the show. “I know I’m happy. That’s all I can feel right now. But man I just feel like I have accomplished so much,” she continued. In addition to winning, the 23-year-old said one of her musical dreams was fulfilled on Tuesday night. – Read more at Access Hollywood

Rosie O’Donnell: I’m “Talking” to America’s Got Talent About Replacing Sharon Osbourne – Rosie O’Donnell may replace Sharon Osbourne on America’s Got Talent next season, The New York Observer reports. “I am very interested in doing America’s Got Talent with Howard Stern and I am talking to them,” O’Donnell, 50, told the newspaper. “Let’s see how that works.” – Read more at TV Guide

‘Swatting’ probes continue in Miley Cyrus, Simon Cowell cases – Despite the arrest of an unidentified juvenile in a series of “swatting” incidents that targeted Ashton Kutcher and singer Justin Bieber, Los Angeles police said Tuesday that other investigations are continuing into incidents targeting others, including Miley Cyrus and Simon Cowell. Department officials declined to discuss specifics but said detectives were making progress in multiple investigations — not only involving Cyrus but other citizens and businesses in Los Angeles as well. In Cyrus’ case, LAPD officers went to the actress’ Studio City home after a caller reported that several people were being held hostage after a shooting. The call was quickly deemed a hoax, but drew a significant police response. – Read more at LA Times

I hope P2 gets a chance to perform GGG on CBS tonight. It’s time to get ready for single #2.

Isn’t that CBS show taped? He’s still in Canada and has a show there tonight. I would bet he’ll perform “Home” — especially since the program is called “Home for the Holidays”. :)

I’m looking forward to Haley’s Holiday stageit tonight. I understand she will be going the Patridge family route with mama, daddy and sister participating. It was sold out but they added 35 more tickets this morning pay what you can.

  • md

Yep, it looks to be a Reinhart holiday special — live, from Chicago! They sold out three rounds before adding a few more tickets today.

I hope those idiots (and their parents) doing the ‘swatting’ are billed for the cost of police response as well as jailed. They are pulling resources away from real crimes and overtaxing the system.

Yesterday there was a bomb threat at a synagogue immediately followed by one on a police car. It took all day, equipment, and manpower to determine it was a hoax.

How do you “sell out” a stage it show? Not throwing shade, just curious.

  • irockhard

Tickets for StageIt shows are not unlimited, sell all the ones you put up for sale and you “sell out” your show.

They set the number of tickets to be made available.

Probably because people are more inclined to buy as the number of available tickets diminishes. And an artist wouldn’t want to offer 10,000 tickets only to have 9,500 of them appear to go unsold.

If the show sells out, they can offer more. My experience is they make fewer tickets available each round. But there is no guarantee more tickets will be offered — it doesn’t happen automatically.

If they were smart, they would make it automatic and set the price per ticket to increase each round. That would encourage more early purchases.

Some might argue that this is the best thing Blake’s done all year.. haha

Hollyscoop: Blake Shelton Convinced Kelly Clarkson’s Fiancé to Pop the Question

“I told Brandon, man you need to grow up and you figure out that you need to marry this girl,” says Shelton.

Like a true father figure, Shelton offers his blessings to the couple and their future together.

“I’m so glad he did,” says Shelton. “He is one hardheaded dude and she is the best thing to happen to him.”

Chart Watch Extra: The Year’s Top Songs
Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” is #6
One Direction’s effervescent “What Makes You Beautiful” is #7
Phillip Phillips’ “Home” is #17 for the year-to-date (2,898,000). It’s already the fourth best-selling song by an American Idol alum, following Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” (3,770,000), Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” (3,626,000) and “No Air” by Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown (3,486,000). This makes it the top-seller by a male Idol alum. The old record was held by Chris Daughtry’s band Daughtry, which has sold 2,323,000 copies of a different song also titled “Home.” (The old record by a male Idol alum who remained a solo artist was held by David Archuleta’s “Crush,” which is up to 2,087,000.)

A cool article with pics of Adams Divas wardrobe. Love that Sauli did the spikes on his Ray of Light boots. According to his blogs, he’s become very adept at spike embellishing lol.

Kellie Pickler’s album made Spin Magazines top. 20 country albums of the year.

From what I can tell, what the artist does is release a certain # of tickets for the show (usually around 100-300, although it depends). Once those are sold out, the artist then releases a new batch of tickets (usually another 100-300). If those sell out, they then add another new batch (rinse and repeat). But if if doesn’t look as if the tickets are selling, the artist can simply reduce the number available. So even if the show “sells out,” it is hard to tell how many tickets have actually been sold, unless you are keeping a really really close eye on this. I think the only limit to how many tickets can be sold depends on the how many online viewers the StageIt website can support — since they wouldn’t want the site to crash during the performance.

From what I’ve noticed, all the Idols doing these StageIt shows have sold out at least the first 2 batches of tickets that they release, and sometimes more. For example, I know that Kris’ StageIt show that he’s doing tomorrow has sold out the first 2 or 3 batches, because there have been a couple of tweets about releasing more tickets. However, the term “sold out” seems rather arbitrary with these performances :)

  • Caro3278sweet

Kellie deserves this. The album was a gusty call and she’s paid the price for it. But I think it’s the best album she’s ever done. Hopefully, her new label will let her continue down the road of rootsy “real country” – because in my view, this is her wheelhouse as far as music goes.

Haley’s StageIt show was a wonderful experience.
