Nicholas David: The Voice Was A ‘True Blessing’

Via Access Hollyoood

Chart Hits Made Cassadee Pope the Inevitable Winner on ‘The Voice’ – Pope’s win started to seem like a foregone conclusion after she scored a bona fide chart hit with her coach-penned song “Over You,” which, given the new rules of ranking for this season, gave her what proved to be an insurmountable lead. Songs that chart in the Top 10 on iTunes being weighted (multiplied by 10) and counted toward a cumulative score, to insure against the whims of week-to-week performances (see also, infamously, Jennifer Hudson on Idol). The move seemed designed to insulate popular contestants against getting voted off the show after an off night by making clearer distinctions between who was capturing America’s heart and who they wish would GTFO. The downside was less cruel drama of instant and unjust eliminations, which is kind of the whole reason to watch reality singing competitions. – Read more at Rolling Stone

Terry McDermott Settles For Second On The Voice – Terry McDermott tells AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman why he knew teammate Cassadee Pope would win “The Voice.” Also, he chats about “what a pleasure” it was to perform with Peter Frampton.

The Voice Winner Cassadee Pope: I Thought I Was Done After the Knockout Rounds – “I kind of thought at the knockouts that I was done. I was not happy with that performance,” the 23-year-old told reporters backstage after winning the singing competition. “That was probably my lowest moment as far as my performance, but I think seeing iTunes has helped me get through this season with a little bit more ease. It gave me a little bit of a heads-up for what was going to happen.” The biggest prediction Shelton had for Pope’s upcoming record? Big sales! “I think she’s going to sell at least one million more records than Kelly,” Shelton said with a laugh.- Read more at The Voice

Cassadee Pope On Her The Voice Win: ‘I’m Numb!’ – “I’m numb. I can’t feel anything,” the singer from Team Blake, who bested her teammate Terry McDermott, who came in second and Team Cee Lo’s Nicholas David (who came in third) to take the Season 3 crown, told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman after the show. “I know I’m happy. That’s all I can feel right now. But man I just feel like I have accomplished so much,” she continued. In addition to winning, the 23-year-old said one of her musical dreams was fulfilled on Tuesday night. – Read more at Access Hollywood

Rosie O’Donnell: I’m “Talking” to America’s Got Talent About Replacing Sharon Osbourne – Rosie O’Donnell may replace Sharon Osbourne on America’s Got Talent next season, The New York Observer reports. “I am very interested in doing America’s Got Talent with Howard Stern and I am talking to them,” O’Donnell, 50, told the newspaper. “Let’s see how that works.” – Read more at TV Guide

‘Swatting’ probes continue in Miley Cyrus, Simon Cowell cases – Despite the arrest of an unidentified juvenile in a series of “swatting” incidents that targeted Ashton Kutcher and singer Justin Bieber, Los Angeles police said Tuesday that other investigations are continuing into incidents targeting others, including Miley Cyrus and Simon Cowell. Department officials declined to discuss specifics but said detectives were making progress in multiple investigations — not only involving Cyrus but other citizens and businesses in Los Angeles as well. In Cyrus’ case, LAPD officers went to the actress’ Studio City home after a caller reported that several people were being held hostage after a shooting. The call was quickly deemed a hoax, but drew a significant police response. – Read more at LA Times
