Idol Headlines for 11/18/12

Adam Shankman is in New York City to film Glee scenes for the Christmas special airing on December 13.  He’ll be shooting scenes with Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Darren Criss.  Adam tweeted this morning, “Now tsk tsk people. You know I can’t say where I’m shooting or whom with! I could lose my job! Xo A”.  He hinted recently that he would be shooting some Klaine scenes.  And Lea Michele tweeted this morning, “Such a great dinner with my family last night in NYC:) But now it’s time to get ready cause Rachel Berry is back in NYC! I love shooting #glee here! :)”  Also, Chris Colfer was spotted last night at Cotton Club Parade at NYC Center, starring fellow Glee star, Amber Riley.

The Frogmen Talk To Keith Urban About American Idol, The Catfight, And His Upcoming Tour – The biggest news to come out of American Idol this season is the big cat fight between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, so we had to ask Keith what went down. Keith played pretty coy with his answer, but did say, “we’re 4 people on the dance floor stepping on each other’s toes.” Aside from the judges, Keith said the audition were going well and that they’ve already sent “well over 200 people to Hollywood”. Carrie Underwood Tunes Up for the 40th American Music Awards – Jetting into Tinseltown ahead of her primetime performance, Carrie Underwood touched down at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, California on Saturday afternoon (November 17). The casually clad country cutie shuffled through the metro terminal while later turning up at Nokia Theatre L.A. American Idol finalist Matt Giraud heads to Bay City for a Christmas concert – BAY CITY, MI — Matt Giraud is taking a few cues from Kenny Rogers’ play book — make the first half of his upcoming concert original tunes and the second half all about Christmas. That’s exactly what the American Idol finalist will do when he heads to the State Theatre for a Nov. 30 Christmas concert. “It’s going to be a mix of Christmas tunes and some of my own music,” he said. “It’s a mixture of Idol stuff I’ve performed, some of the new stuff I’ve been writing. And I’m going to do some of my favorite classic Christmas songs.” Included in that first half are two new songs, one of which will be released as a new EP, hopefully by Christmas. “I’ve been playing some new songs,” he said. “One is Free Day,” the other is “Seven Days,” it’s about all the days of the week. More than 3,000 flock to Linn Park for Ruben Studdard Celebration Weekend – BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — More than 3,000 people flocked to Linn Park earlier today to take part in the Ruben Studdard Celebration Weekend’s culmination of events. Approximately 1,120 runners registered for a variety of courses today including the Magic City Half Marathon, the Race Against Racism 5k and the Linn Park Lap, a shorter, walk/run designed for families. The Celebration Weekend had three main goals, said Tom Crichton, the event’s director: First, to raise money for the Ruben Studdard Foundation for the Advancement of Children in the Music Arts. Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard Turned Down ‘X Factor’ – Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard was once invited to join the cast of The X-Factor, the singer revealed in an interview with The Independent. “They heard of us through the internet and started sending me emails which kept going into my spam folder,” Howard explained. “One day [the talent searcher] called me to ask and I told her, ‘No, I’m not going to do that.’ She was like, ‘Are you sure about that?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I’m sure. I have something going on now that I believe in and want to stick to.’ She was shocked.” “It’s not fair,” she said. “You go out there, people gawk at you, they love you or hate you and it doesn’t mean anything to them but it means the world to you.
