The Frogmen Talk To Keith Urban About American Idol, The Catfight, And His Upcoming Tour – The biggest news to come out of American Idol this season is the big cat fight between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, so we had to ask Keith what went down. Keith played pretty coy with his answer, but did say, “we’re 4 people on the dance floor stepping on each other’s toes.” Aside from the judges, Keith said the audition were going well and that they’ve already sent “well over 200 people to Hollywood”. Keith talked about the cities they had already hit and the new addition of the audition bus in cities that the judges weren’t in. – Read more at CBS

American Idol finalist Matt Giraud heads to Bay City for a Christmas concert – BAY CITY, MI — Matt Giraud is taking a few cues from Kenny Rogers’ play book — make the first half of his upcoming concert original tunes and the second half all about Christmas. That’s exactly what the American Idol finalist will do when he heads to the State Theatre for a Nov. 30 Christmas concert. “It’s going to be a mix of Christmas tunes and some of my own music,” he said. “It’s a mixture of Idol stuff I’ve performed, some of the new stuff I’ve been writing. And I’m going to do some of my favorite classic Christmas songs.” Included in that first half are two new songs, one of which will be released as a new EP, hopefully by Christmas. “I’ve been playing some new songs,” he said. “One is Free Day,” the other is “Seven Days,” it’s about all the days of the week. It’s a funky song I’ve been writing down in Nashville. I’m excited to debut them in Bay City.” – Read more at MLive

Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard Turned Down ‘X Factor’ – Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard was once invited to join the cast of The X-Factor, the singer revealed in an interview with The Independent. “They heard of us through the internet and started sending me emails which kept going into my spam folder,” Howard explained. “One day [the talent searcher] called me to ask and I told her, ‘No, I’m not going to do that.’ She was like, ‘Are you sure about that?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I’m sure. I have something going on now that I believe in and want to stick to.’ She was shocked.” “It’s not fair,” she said. “You go out there, people gawk at you, they love you or hate you and it doesn’t mean anything to them but it means the world to you. So it’s kind of a fucked-up show. I would never do it.” – Read more at Rolling Stone

    1) Casey Abrams I love you. He seems to be having a pretty good run. Bravo Casey!
    2) Adam Lambert looks great in that promo. (I still say less is more on the makeup – I think it obscures his good looks more than enhances.) That Diva gig seems like a great fit for him. His album was below expectations in the US, but with a successful world tour under his belt I don’t think he has anything to worry about.
    3) I will buy Kelly’s greatest hits, my first Kelly Clarkson purchase. She is a pretty lame interview – but the girl can saaaang.
    4) Although she is way too screamy in this clip and in general, I still think Fantasia is the most talented artist to ever win Idol.

MJ – whatever happened to that thread about what direction we would like your blog to go in the future? It was interesting and I hope you bring it back. I’m still an Idol fan over any of the other shows. I do agree there is singing show saturation. And I agree with the poster that said that the threads move too quickly now and it is harder to keep up with one as a result. But I still check the blog daily. : ))

  • kmd23

Casey looks great with Katy!! Would love to see a vid of Casey’s performance at that event.

  • Axxxel

Glee:yeah for Amber Riley !! Even though I am a huge Rachel fan and love Lea Michele’s voice… I still think that Amber Riley is the best singer on Glee… Hope she can be on that VH1  Diva evening… she is also a Diva in the making…
Still waiting for that album that Amber is recording…

Yeah for Chris Colfer in New York to support his bestie Amber Riley.. But besides Glee, I thought he was also going to do a book singing of his second book near New York one of these days…
Yeah for Glee…Klaine scenes… still I don’t want Klaine to be back together too soon…. Let the actors shine on their own and have more developement for Blaine…

  • Axxxel

Adam Lambert… sigh sigh… why does he look so gorgeous ? *shallow*…

  • Incipit

whatever happened to that thread about what direction we would like your blog to go in the future? …. I agree with the poster that said that the threads move too quickly now and it is harder to keep up with one as a result.

Heh. Funny you should say that, roarpen. The thread you are asking about is still here – on Page 2 – I was just checking it out – It just kinda got scrolled off the front page as more threads were added- but you can still read it, or post to it, if you have some ideas.

  • Nadine_Bitch

I know right? and because diva for him is equal fierce, therefore Adam is DropDeadDiva!LOL

  • MellyPer1692

Matt Giraud needs to expand his horizons outside of Michigan. He could probably do a small club tour and get his talent exposed a little better.

Can’t wait to see the promos for Divas! Love all these opportunities and chances to see Adam.

  • mjsbigblog

MJ – whatever happened to that thread about what direction we would like your blog to go in the future? It was interesting and I hope you bring it back. I’m still an Idol fan

You know…there is a way to flip back through previous pages on the blog. The link is at the bottom of the blog. When I visit a site, especially if I have not been there in a day or two, I will flip back through it’s pages to catch upl

Also, the recent posts on the side of the page has about 20 links. It’s still listed there.

  • LA944

Yeah Casey. I would love to see video of him from that event too. After the event Nigel tweeted:

I have seen some recent vids of Casey–and his beard must have some special powers–cause he is so versatile and can do about anything.
I wish he would do more self promotion. He rarely gives a heads up about what he’s doing until right before –or more than likely after the show–LOL I have seen some tweets that he will be doing some Xmas stuff with Gavin DeGraw and Grace Potter and others—yet no word from him.
I only watch AI cause there def is the over saturation or these singing shows. I don’t think it will bode well for the winners of these shows–because right after they are crowned–another singing competition is starting up. People’s attention will be elsewhere–sooner than it was before.

Kris Allen will be doing a show in Nashville tonight at 7:30 CT. We should be able to watch it on

He leaves for Kenya the day after Thanksgiving with World Vision.

@WorldVisionUSAWe’re getting super excited for the True #spiritofchristmas trip with@KrisAllen. Leaving in less than one week!

From last night’s show in AZ:

    Sean Noble?@SeanNobleDC
There must be 10,000 people crammed into two grandstands & around Anthem Outlets for Phillip Phillips. Crazy.

Now on to the AMA’s tonight!

  • irockhard

He has an official website and management, seriously all 19 needs to do is hire an intern to post his tour schedule on his site. 19 has to be one the most incompetent management companies out there.

  • MellyPer1692

In addition to Scotty, Kelly, Adam and Daughtry albums in Amazons Black Friday MP3 sale, Haley’s album is 3.99 for the mp3 and $6.99 for the CD. They also have a presale for Kelly’s greatest hits album for $5.00 for the CD.

  • Axxxel

Totally agree… I still remember when I saw Adam in concert… there was only one word in my mind: “fierce” !

  • Nadine_Bitch

Lucky you! I live in middle east, so there’s a slim chance he’ll gonna do a concert in my country. I need to go to another continent to see him live. Maybe someday though:(

  • Jordana33

That X Factor commercial was boring, and will not help get more viewers. They’re at the point in the competition where they should be focussing more on the contestants, not the judges. Unless they’re going to show clips of funny comments by the judges or behind-the-scenes montages of the judges working with their contestants, there’s really no point to showing the judges….again.

  • Axxxel

Wow, another continent… that is a lot of hours flying and a lot of $$$.
Yeah, I was lucky… he was performing in a neighbouring country… only 1,5 hour flight away. Unfortunately because of financial and practical reasons, I will stay  at home on New Years Eve while he will be performing in my country and only about 1,000 km from my place….

Interviews with top 10 contestants of the Voice (Four are linked below, but all are available on the NBCVoice youtube page). Unfortunately, Christina Milian isn’t the most exciting interviewer, and she asks everyone the same questions.  But to summarize a few: Cody promises to bring back the “Bam Bam” in his next performance, Nicholas is hoping to play the piano, Melanie is singing something by a guy (because she likes singing songs by guys), Amanda’s performing something more “intimate”, Dez likes k-pop, Trevin promises to not sing his usual ballad and I’m pretty sure that Christina Milian has the hots for Dez. Monday should be fun!

I wonder why 19 even bothers to manage artists in the first place? You would think they would want the artists to succeed–and up to date promotion would help. I have been to is website a number of times to see if there will be a show near me. I’ve noticed when he was doing his recent tour that some shows were listed and others were not. Same on his official FB page. They rarely upload videos. Also, the twitter feed on the site has never changed –so it doesn’t work. Too bad.

  • MellyPer1692

Is Casey Abrams website managed by 19? It only lists Concord Records and Casey himself as owners.

This is his official site, right?

  • irockhard

Yes that’s it. AFAIK it’s usually management that’s responsible for managing their artists’ websites, after all it’s a form of non radio related promo.

  • MellyPer1692

RCA has always managed the RCA artist websites, not 19. The mods employed were RCA employees. Not too clear I guess.

  • mmb

Adam’s Fiasco Magazine cover photo.  They followed it up by tweeting hashtag #50shadesofadamlambert….

I love it, he looks handsome and very George Clooney like.

  • loveroftalent

OMG…WE think alike…I was just going to post the same thing…As soon as I saw the picture, I thought of George Clooney….And I LOVE George Clooney…

  • Li Wright

It’s getting to the point where I can’t watch Fantasia sing.  She needs to go Gospel, I swear.

  • bridgette12

Love me some George Clooney! As soon as I saw this photo, it reminded me of one of his pictures looking exactly like this one.

  • roarpen

     Got it – thanks.

Adam’s Meet and Greet for San  Francisco jingle ball sold for $6,350,00.  It was for a charity for Lupus research so that makes it a good thing.

  • girlygirltoo

Suposedly he said at his show tonight that he hopes it will be out this week. But nothing confirmed.

  • girlygirltoo

Looks like Phillip’s album is officially up on iTunes to purchase (not just preorder) now. It’s sitting at #4 on the overall chart

  • wordnerdarchie

I see an update now, it’s dropped back to 32, but is still at 4 on the home page.  (Strange)

  • girlygirltoo

It’s weird, because the Live Pop Bars site has it at #32, but on the iTunes site it says #4. So someone’s wrong

  • kcostell

I finally got to listen through the whole thing (I picked mine up from Amazon, where it’s a fair amount cheaper and I already had some leftover promotional credit).  I was surprised at how much I liked some of the songs that didn’t grab me so much before when I was just listening to excerpts (especially “Hold On” and “Drive Me”).  Also surprised that the metadata for all the songs but “Home” listed them as “Country”.

Here are a couple of quotes from a review of Adam’s concert in Johannesburg SA.

US pop sensation Adam Lambert hit South African shores with one
big gay bang and brought the house down at Johannesburg’s Coca-Cola
    Dome on Friday night.

Let me say this; I am not particularly a fan of Lambert. But I
have to admit, this showman is bloody talented. His voice is
stunning and his entertainment factor is through the roof. I’ve
been to some epic shows and this one, even with its basic
artist-dance troupe setup, was up there with one of the greats.

The biggest to date is that he is a natural born entertainer in
glorious theatricality who can get anyone on their feet – even me
in all my rock puritan snobbery.

With just two dancers, two awesomely fat momma backup singers
and a full band behind him, Lambert gave an electrifying
performance that will stick with me for years to come.

But what I like most about him is that he’s an icon for the
    young gay community.

    more from here:

  • marmom07

The Johannesburg concert was at the Coca Cola dome which has a max capacity of 19,000 and was listed as sold out.

“ETA not sure why parts of the quotes are in italics and parts are not???”

I’ve noticed that the first paragraph of anything quoted is in italics, but not for anything after that. Don’t know why though.

  • LA944

On the contact page on his website it does say he is managed by JOdy Carson of 19 mgmt. I don’t know if his label or 19 is responsible for the website.

  • LA944

There is an article about the event. Casey closed out the show Standout

“American Idol season 10 finalist Casey Abrams closed out
the show with his rendition of “With a little help from my friends,”
“Stuck in London,” “Georgia on My Mind” and this sentiment: “This my
first time at Dream Foundation. I think it’s the coolest thing ever and I
    want to keep coming back.””

  • bridgette12

What a great review and what it came down to the guy reviewing it, was Adam’s voice, showmanship and him simply being himself on stage. This review is an example of why Adam is getting all of these opportunities overseas. He’s not cookie cutter or boring and he brings something new to the table.

  • tripp_ncwy

This morning someone from the show last night Kris said WFC will also be up on Amazon but EP timing is due to iTunes having first dibs. Still hoped to have it available this week.

  • Miz

iTunes new music comes out on Tuesdays. I really hope ‘Waiting For Christmas’ is up this week.

Did I see someone on twitter say that it may be a free download? iTunes has featured weekly free downloads and also does free Christmas/Holiday songs throughout the season. It’s how I got introduced to a lot of artists I might not otherwise hear or buy. Many are big names now.

  • Sharon S.

I started off my day reading that review, and it made my Monday morning considerably brighter. :-)  What I love is that not only does the reviewer recognize and acknowledge Adam’s incredible voice and performance skills, but also his social significance.  Being a young, out and proud voice for the LGBT community – particularly the young members of the LGBT community – is no small thing.  I love that Adam is starting to get credit for that.
