P3-4 of new Billboard Country Update mentions Kristy Lee Cook’s producers

“In fact, Aldean’s crew is a key element..the current crop of new production talent. Drummer Rich Redmond, guitarist Kurt Allison and bassist Tully Kennedy teamed with David Fanning to form New Voice Entertainment, now billed publicly as NV. ‘Glee’s’ Chris Colfer on Emmy Host Jane Lynch: ‘I Don’t Think That Woman Can Get Nervous’ (Video)

“She doesn’t seem nervous,” said Colfer on Monday, Sept. 12. “I don’t think that woman can get nervous. She’s always so excited and happy to do anything. But I’m really looking forward to seeing what she does with it.”

Added Riley, “I talked to her a little bit. Not much about hosting, but she seems like she’s really excited and ready.”

Paula Abdul, Steve Jones Discuss Nicole Scherzinger’s ‘X Factor’ Judging Style (Video)

Rounding out the panel of judges are Cowell, L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and former American Idol cohort, Paula Abdul. The Hollywood Reporter spoke with host Steve Jones as well as Abdul to get the dirt on what’s to come in the premiere season.

“I think all of us stand in our area of what we believe is authentic,” Abdul told THR of her co-judges. “It’s a real good group, to be honest with you. It’s a solid group.”

As for which group member has the grit to stand up to the famously abrasive Cowell, Abdul insisted that the crew is equally capable.

“Nicole’s not afraid,” she noted. “I’m proud of her. L.A.’s not afraid.”

The Highest-Paid Men In Entertainment

Simon Cowell rounds out our top five with $90 million. Cowell left the show that made him famous in America, American Idol, in order to launch his own talent show. The X Factor is set to debut September 21 and will feature another former American Idol judge — the ever-wacky Paula Abdul.

Paula Abdul: Simon’s Met His Match with L.A. Reid

“It’s fantastic,” beams Paula. “Simon’s met his match with L.A., you have no idea!”

Naturally, such a statement leads us to wonder if Simon will then have to step up his game in light of this revelation, but Paula assures us he’s the same curmudgeon we know and love.

“It feels beautifully uncomfortable,” Abdul describes her working relationship with Cowell. “It’s like a good, worn-in shoe on the wrong foot. It’s like a good leather right foot shoe on the left side.”

‘Glee’ Stars Dish Initiation Rituals, Pranks on Set and Gwyneth’s Return!

Last night at the Fox Fall Eco Casino Party at The Bookbindery in Culver City, C.A., Glee stars were shining brightly! Indicating they’re already back on set and filming the fourth episode, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer and Amber Riley dished about initiation rituals for new stars from The Glee Project, pranks on set and Gwyneth Paltrow’s return to the hit show!

n case you’re wondering if there’s an initiation process for the new stars from The Glee Project, the answer is a resounding, “Yes!” He told OK! “We have a hazing ritual that we like. It’s kind of like being tarred and feathered, but it involves a steep set of stairs and like sacks of flour. I can’t tell you exactly what happened, but everybody who is new that comes on the show, that’s what happens.”

Chris added, “I hope that we can haze the hell of them! I think that one of them is younger than me so I am not the baby anymore. But, I am into the mental games. Mental games! I am going to pretend that I have like the worst case of bipolar disorder and they aren’t going to know how to handle me. It’s going to be great.”

Just saw on twitter that David Cook’s 2nd single is FADE INTO ME. Thoughts?

It too is my favorite song on the CD. I think it will do better than TLG with less promo.

Whether you are a Scotty fan or not, you have to respect his desire to remain as “normal” as possible. Unfortunately, the school itself may not have much tolerance for the disruption. I hope for his sake the student body settles down- maybe they will once the novelty of having a celebrity in their midst gets to be old hat, so to speak.

Yes, Chris Colfer, it’s very funny and totally not offensive to make jokes about having “the worst bipolar disorder ever”. It’s always very witty and humorous when we can laugh at a disease that affects millions of people and their loved ones. Ha!

  • larc

    Elliegrll says:

More to the point may be how long the school will be willing to put up with the obvious disruption. He may feel like the same old Scotty and want others to see him that way, but that ship has sailed. He is a celebrity now and likely will be for the rest of his life.

  • Lexus

Whether you are a Scotty fan or not, you have to respect his desire to remain as “normal” as possible.

I find it so refreshing that he prefers to keep as much normality to his routine as possible. I love that he puts education ahead of his career so that he has something to fall back on and that he recognizes he needs to be a part of his last year of high school to have those special memories that are so special at that age. This is what keeps Scotty so grounded and adds to his appeal.

  • Ringo

Part of Scotty living a “normal” high school senior life is his fans letting him have some privacy. I find tweets about his school days to border on voyeurism. It certainly seems to be counter-productive. Give me news about his music, but leave the boy be at school.

  • CSFan

Diana DeGarmo might not want to get too comfy at Y&R, which appears to be hiring and firing people, even very big soap names, on a regular basis. Seems the show is in a bit of chaos behind the scenes?

As much as it would be nice for him to be able to enjoy school, I think his days are numbered. I think it might just be too weird.

OK, peeps, has any teen who finished in the top 4 ever gone back to high school?

We have in no particular order and the list is only as good as my memory LOL:

    Archie
    Diana
    Allison
    Jordin
    Loren
    Scotty

And not in top 4 how about “High School Student” Aaron Kelly and Katie Stevens?

  • windmills

A new Carrie cowrite registered at HFA:

Take Me To The City (Carrie/Tom Shapiro/Luke Laird)

Carrie’s newly listed as a performer for 5 songs including 1 she didn’t cowrite.

Party Girl (Luke Laird/Mike Elizondo/Ashley Gorley)

The other 4 songs we already knew about: Do You Remember When (Carrie/Hillary Lindsey/Mike Elizondo), Girls Like Us (Carrie/Brett James/Mike Elizondo), Heartbreak Boots (Carrie/Luke Laird/Kara/Marti Frederiksen), and Neverlasting Love (Carrie/Luke Laird/Kara/Marti Frederiksen).

I don’t know if it means she’s actually recorded these songs though she’s probably at least got the one she didn’t cowrite on hold. The common denominator in 3 of the songs is Mike Elizondo registering them and the other 2 just happen to be cowrites with Kara and Marti F so there might be something going on in the way they registered the songs. I wouldn’t be too excited about more Kara/Marti F on Carrie’s album though Heartbreak Boots always jumped out at me as a title. I’m glad Carrie cowrote again with Mike Elizondo, I thought Cowboy Casanova was fresh and really good.

  • Daytripper73

OK, peeps, has any teen who finished in the top 4 ever gone back to high school?

Diana did, and she graduated with her class. It cost her career opportunities, like a lost chance to be the opening act for the Spring 2005 Backstreet Boys tour, but getting her senior year experience meant more. Hopefully things settle down and Scotty can do the same

  • Grammie Kari

I know a few movie stars that have gone onto college after graduating, but I don’t know what happened with the group you mention, undercooked.

I bet Scotty is looking forward to Homecoming. I would imagine he’ll be Homecoming King if nominated. Maybe he’ll be on the baseball team? The kids just need to relax and let the Idol have normal interactions in school. :o)

Sure do hope things go well for Diana!

If it’s not, I’d like to see the one that’s bigger :). Dylan’s Candy Bar is enormous for a candy store. I was shocked by the size of it.

I hope for his sake the student body settles down- maybe they will once the novelty of having a celebrity in their midst gets to be old hat, so to speak.

It surprises me that he is being treated like a celebrity at his school. I mean, it’s not like he’s a new student there. This is his 4th year. I would have expected the kids to just treat him like. “Oh, Scotty is back.” Does anyone know how large the enrollment at Garner HS is?

ETA: I don’t think some of the young Idols on your list, undercooked, actually went back to school. By that I mean, actually on campus. Pretty sure Allison did not and maybe even Katie.

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

ETA – Buffynut. I suspect some Idols just took the GED.

Scotty missed most of his junior year so I suspect any incoming freshmen this year and sophomores don’t know him. To them, he is a celebrity. I bet those in his senior class and on his baseball team treat him like they always did.

  • larc

    Buffynut says:

Garner Magnet HS had 2311 students in the 2009-2010 school year. It probably isn’t much more than 2500 now.

Thanks for sharing !! a very touching video, looking forward for the rest . :)

And glad David A has another opportunity to show his Spanish skills, hopefully we gonna have at least one video ;) ….still thinking that he has a great chance to gain that market too. :)

And not in top 4 how about “High School Student” Aaron Kelly and Katie Stevens?

Katie was a senior her Idol season. She missed her prom and graduation because of finale/tour practices.

Also, Allison was taking online classes during the tour, and finished her senior year before her album release that December.

I give big props to Scotty and his family for deciding to take this road, but I do think this is going to impact his career. Just think how much work, travel, promo Cookie, Kris and Lee did after they won. If Scotty is not willing to do this, then I wonder what his label and mgmt are thinking. This next year is critical for Scotty if he wants to wedge the small opening he’s got in country music into a wider path.

A fan is tweeting about the David A. Latin event in DC. She is attending and hopefully getting some pictures or at least give us some updates of songs, etc. David’s mom is with him and she forgot her camera and is asking that if a fan is there to please get a picture of David and her. Hopefully the fan and Lupe find each other at the event. It is even rumored that Lupe may be singing with David.

  • SajiNoKami

Scotty must really love school, to go back for just one class? He had options where he could just get it done and college is not going anywhere.

It cost her career opportunities, like a lost chance to be the opening act for the Spring 2005 Backstreet Boys tour, but getting her senior year experience meant more.

this just doesn’t, i just don’t get it. I figure she would have looked forward to her life after high school rather than take a step back into it.

  • djafan

Here is the actual comment on Archuleta Fanscene about Jimmy Smitts recognizing David’s mom Lupe and her request to David fans via David’s aunt!

Yes, the Latino community is a market he sure could tap into. David has thousands of Latino fans waiting anxiously for his spanish music.

From Tia Martha in our comments section:

JUST TALKED TO LUPE, SHE MET JIMMY,AT THE AIRPORT, HE SAY HELLO TO HER AND RECOGNIZE HER!!.. AND SHE FORGOT A CAMARA , I TOLD HER SOME OF DAVID’S FANS WILL GO TO THIS EVENT, AND SHE IS ASKING IF YOU FANS CAN TAKE SOME PICTURES OF HER AND DAVID!!… SHE MIGHT DO A LITTLE SINGING’… THANKS IF YOU DO!!

Scotty must really love school, to go back for just one class?

I’ve said on here a few times that I’ve always had the impression he was homesick and craved some of that old life to go along with his new life. I think he’s trying his best to strike a balance. I’m not sure it’s going to work, but I admire him for giving it a go. If anyone can pull it off, it will be him. I honestly don’t know that he sees himself as any different than before. lol

  • michigan

Going to a large high school will be tough and the idea he could be on a basketball or any team is tougher. Kids at the other schools come into the equation. I know he isn’t loaded yet, but a small private school, may work better. Its hard to put the genie back in the bottle.

  • Daytripper73

this just doesn’t, i just don’t get it. I figure she would have looked forward to her life after high school rather than take a step back into it.

Maybe, like Scotty, Diana just wanted a bit of normalcy and to make typical high school memories. It seems to have to have worked out just fine. She got her memories, her diploma, and then started on her career full time. She was always pretty level headed, even as a 17 year old.

  • kaypar

I think it is great Scotty is getting to enjoy some high school memories. He has stated it will be about 50/50 that he knows he has to promoted and work stuff to do as well so he will attend school when he can He isn’t goingt to let his fans or record company down. It is not like he said okay I at school c u guys when Im done. He should be able to juggle it and Im sure there are discussions that go on as to the importance of selling his album. Let him enjoy a few days of school. I wish my kids would have liked it that much.

  • ross

Whether you are a Scotty fan or not, you have to respect his desire to remain as “normal” as possible.

To be honest, I have to disrespect it, in this case. I think I would respect him more if he seemed more hungry to get going on his professional music career.

I have no problem with him wanting to stay connected to the home ties, of course. But going back to high school full time? Am I the only one who went, “wtf?” when I read this?

I think it’s kind of “sweet” but also a little strange. I never expected it, let me put it that way. If an older Idol winner went back to their full time job right after the Idols tour, or enrolled in college, the reaction probably wouldn’t be the same. I feel this guy generally gets a pass due to his age. Yet he’s almost 18, not really a child.

The usual attitude around here is, “They knew what they were getting into when they signed on,” and I think it has to apply to them all. I don’t really respect not fully embracing a golden opportunity, tbh. It makes me feel there are others who would have been happier and done more with the opportunity, and makes me wish one of them had won instead. Sorry, just my honest reaction.

  • dodon

His highschool days are numbered, so why can’t he enjoy it while he still can? And the winner won because the voters wanted him to, I don’t think it’s wise to put all the blame on him.

  • ross

Okay, maybe I’m the one who’s crazy, but – how does he have time to go to high school, anyway? As someone pointed out already, Cook and Kris said they barely had time to sleep, for one year, after they won. It just seems bizarre, to me . Unless Scotty just doesn’t have a lot of work to do in his career. Basically, most high school kids don’t have full time careers and aren’t recent Idol winners. I guess I can’t really imagine his career being full time, under these conditions.

Chances are he won’t be going to school more than occasionally, anyway, right? That I could understand, I guess.
