Absolutely nothing, if you were at Allentownà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Crocodile Rock on Sunday.

In a concert that spanned 70 minutes and 14 full songs plus a medley of four others, Archuleta sang with passion, exuded an engaging boyish stage presence and didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t hit a single bad note with his rich tenor voice à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’  and, in fact, hit many very good ones.

He nailed the signature notes from the opening à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Touch My Handà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  (the title of which he took literally à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’  handshaking the front row) to the killer closing of Robbie Williamsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Angels,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  and even outdid the big note on the recorded version of his hit à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crush.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  He emoted often, but never in a cheesy way, and worked so hard that four songs into the show he was wiping sweat and by the end was breathing hard.

Kelly Clarkson seems to be TEARING IT UP! It is nice to have her back on top. Her talent and success make me realize how something is truly lacking on this season of AI.

It will only suck if they make it suck. A lower budget doesn’t have to make a bad show, they just need to have the right format and the right contestants.

If they make another season suck, there will likely be no season 10 as the contract is up for renewal.

If anyone ever thought that the VFTW crowds are just people who are having a bit of fun by not taking American Idol seriously, this should put the matter at rest. They are a bunch of nasty and vicious gossip queens who think nothing about wrecking the hopes and dreams of other people. Last year it was David Hernandez (did anyone actually think that he got voted off was because he was a poor singer?), this year it’ll be Adam Lambeth.

I only visted that site (VFTW) maybe twice and was really disgusted by some of the things I read.. esp the way they were bashing Archie… calling him “gaspy” and other childish stuff… I stay away from sites like that. Hopefully, this will not deter Adam voters.

Hm. I hope people don’t make a big deal about this but who knows? I think many viewers have an inkling that Adam is gay but there’s a difference between theory and practice. I think for some people, it’s okay if someone’s gay, just as long as they’re not reminded of it or not in-your-face about it. This will probably be too much for them.

Um, I actually thought those pictures of Adam were kinda hot. Heh.

I hope it doesn’t matter. It’s not like everyone didn’t already know he was gay. But idol viewers have been notoriously naive on this subject before, so I guess I shouldn’t put it past anyone to be surprised.

He’s by far the most entertaining person this season so far to me. I want him to go deep. No pun intended.

Re Adam. Either people are fans, or not. It’s freakin’ entertainment television. Those pictures don’t sway me one way or the other.

For me, not so much a big deal, because it’s Lambert’s talent, and what he brings to Idol this year that I find refreshing. Unfortunately, and I hope I’m not overgeneralizing, but the demographic that most watches Idol may see his sexuality as a big deal…. we still have a long way to go in that area as a country, and the Idol audience is no different… I would hate to see someone of his talent hurt by the potential negative response from the Idol viewers this may generate… that would be a shame, and a travesty.

VFTW, IMO, can be rather cruel in their so stated quest to satirize, mock and poke fun at the Idol machine and its contestants…. for some reason, this one leaves me cold, and I’m having a hard time finding the fun and the satire in the posting.. but hey – it’s a free country, right? Yada, Yada, Yada……

Yeah, but VFTW is as much about getting web hits as Idol is about ratings. I’m assuming VFTW wanted to be credited with getting the “proof” out there that Adam is indeed gay and didn’t want to risk anybody else beating them to it. I don’t think they would have bothered if they didn’t think it would stir folks up.

If VFTW was going for the shock value in those pics of Adam, it was lost on me. It’s not like he has ever hidden the fact that IN HIS PERSONAL life he is gay. Now had they had similar pics of him kissing a girl…..now that would have thrown me for a minute, but ultimately, I could care less what anyone does in their private life, as long as you are consenting and not hurting anyone.

Yay, I got a snow day! That is big in NYC. I remember kids strapping on snowshoes going to school because the chancellor refused to close schools in years past, so thanks Chancellor Klein! My kiddies are delighted. I see snow angels in their future!

The pics don’t bother me at all, but I’m the minority in my very conservative family (parents, most of my siblings) and I think they are all of the type that it’s one thing to be told he’s gay, but another entirely to see the evidence of it. Which makes no sense to me, but I’m sure they aren’t alone in that respect. Sometimes VFTW is funny, but there’s a real undercurrent of cruelty that runs through there, at least from some of the posters. Not that these pictures wouldn’t come out eventually… and hopefully people won’t care and my family members aren’t a majority representation of who watches Idol (and they do, and my mom had no clue that Adam was gay).

Proposition 8 did pass in one of the most liberal states in the country.

I’m hopeful that it won’t matter for Adam. I’m not sure he was appealing to the social conservatives with his performance style. David H was more mainstream last year (and I do think that he got the boot earlier than he deserved because VFTW leaked the gay stripper stories).

Many years ago, Sally Ride was asked when she thought women would achieve equality. And she said something to the effect that it would be when nobody thought it was newsworthy that a woman was doing something. Hopefully, we will soon reach a point when it’s not newsworthy that a contestant is gay. That it will be no more “internet-hit-worthy” than commenting that they went to such-and-such university, that they are married or that they drive a blue car.

Adam’s not going to win. AI won’t allow him to win, and it’s not because he’s gay. It’s because he doesn’t fit anywhere in contemporary music. He’s like a stage singer crossed with a seventies heavy metal act.

I think Adam is smart enough to realize those pictures would get out eventually. I get the feeling he knows what he’s doing, but we’ll see, I guess.

It looks like they’re a lot more open to the gay contestants this year… He’s such a frontrunner I think they’ll keep pimping him unless his fans turn on him (I know I won’t, but some of them might). I’m expecting a lot of jokes from the judges in his direction though. Simon can’t resist.

My family is that way too. My mom asked me if he was gay, and I said yes, but I’m sure she would have a different reaction entirely if she saw the pictures.

As for Adam, I am positive that I’m much more conservative than many that post here, but those pictures don’t bother me at all. Not to say that there won’t be those out there that are bothered, but it is possible they won’t even see them. I think some may be more upset about the outfits being worn somewhere else than a theatre than anything else!

Adam seems to me to be a fairly secure individual with a family that loves and supports him. Although it might not all be fun, I’m sure he had a better idea than most what he might be getting himself into. The exposure and opportunity that AI offers is obviously important to him so I hope he can achieve whatever his goals were in deciding to go for it.

FYI, David coined “Starchy Archies” following the incident, according to Alex the bassist. Alex promised David the next time a fan throws a potato at him, he will jump on said fan in the audience. Palak is currently buying tons of potatoes.

Also, in case you all were concerned for the health of the little spuds, they are currently safe and sound on the tour bus, according to Mr. Archuleta. The note, however — which read, “Dear David, You are our little potato, but you’re no small potatoes.” — was worse for wear. Archuleta reported it looked like a bus ran over it. He tried to salvage it. No word on its current condition.

David Archuleta Gives Back

Talented teenagers are taking over America, and not just on shows like American Idol à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ AI alum David Archuleta has signed on to be the new face of DoSomething.org, along with the Dunkin’ Brands Community Foundation, to help willing teenagers make a difference in others’ lives with disaster relief.

“I know as well as anyone that teenagers have the power to do something. So I’m genuinely excited about this cause and organization,” says David. “When I heard about the opportunity to get involved with DoSomething.org, I jumped at the chance. Thanks to this program, when a disaster strikes, teens will be part of the relief solution.”

The program will help teens take action with ideas and guides, as well as a weekly $500 grant program to help them start their own programs and a Disaster Relief Bootcamp for teen leaders running disaster relief projects.

Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to be cold and nasty out and David is concerned about people getting sick. Ray said that he wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t let people line up before 3:00 tomorrow.

^^ Awww, that’s sweet of DA. He also had a lot of the crowd in Lancaster moved inside the lobby of the venue because it was freezing outside. See, this is why he should have done a show in Honolulu.

EDIT: It’s great, but I think I prefer his live versions so far. More energetic.

The demo clip of Zero Gravity sounds awesome on my ear phones and turned up high on my computer so that I could hear all the beats. Just great. There’s also a couple of lyric changes I caught now that I can hear it more clearly. The only problem is that it’s a short clip and I get frustrated everytime it ends. Argh!

Nothing beats a great live performance of this but the recording sounds very promising. I can imagine this being played on the radio.

^^ It’s the demo version–the one that DA showed to the label. If it had been chosen for the record, I’m pretty positive it would have been spruced up.

Apparently, Richard from FOD said that David is in the process of recording the song. So, not quite sure what’s going on, but that sounds promising.
