Kellie Pickler Shows Undeniable ‘Proof’ of Her Country Roots – Kellie Pickler doesn’t have a censor, and that’s what is so refreshingly delicious about both the country star’s personality and her music. The 25-year-old blond beauty from Albemarle, NC, is an open book about the skeletons in her family’s closet, from her father’s stints in jail to her mother’s abandonment, and even her own struggles with her weight. The storms she’s weathered on the way from small-town girl to ‘American Idol’ finalist and now country superstar have proven to be lucrative inspiration for her music, especially apparent on her third studio album, ’100 Proof.’ In turn, this new music has proven to be therapy for the now blissfully happy Kellie. – Read more at The Boot

Well looks like Wind-up have found a way to promote Screaming and/or Outcast (and consequently the album):

“He would dress crazy for stage shows, but he would turn it off for
things like daytime TV or when he was out on the town in his down time-
unlike someone like Lady Gaga who never turns off her persona.”

I think too he might keep his image on tour for his fans, I’m not sure about
people who watch more TV, still I’m not convinced he would win over casual fans. Wise business TV-persona? Might the guy in perfect Buble suit, with perfect girly makeup, spiky hair win over people loving music heard today on radio and maybe having in their eyes/minds the images of who are singing the songs?! I’m not sure and really hope he does. Sometime is better to think for/by a long shot in your life than live the moment. There were some talks like 2 years ago about a business like makeup line, he is into fashion pretty deep I think, why not  a future Adam fashion style/ business  for people who like this kind of fashion, music is a temporary, stressful job… And GaGa, Katy Perry, Buble, would never change their styles, it would be career suicide for them.

What I try to say is, Adam is not your everyday kind of artist, the image/voice/music combo might be taken differently by many people than for other artists. Take advantage of a certain style, take risks of it and get your demographic, trying to soften something that is already evident it’s more weird than show it up, trace the final image/musical artist you really are and people would learn it and take it like this.

I think Katy will have a new style for her next era, maybe not the Teenage Dream re-release.  But Rihanna’s new era is different, I like the look for Loud better, but whatever.  It’s fine to change looks in Pop.

  • iani

You might be right, Katy might have soon the kind of success Kelly has today. Rihanna right now is the artist of the universe, she knows to do no wrong with her demographic, she has built her musical/artistic style so nicely, softly, effortlessly, she’s just there in a pleasant exposure of anything: sound, voice, image…Heck, even Coldpaly has taken her for a song, not Beyonce, with all friendship between C Martin-Jay-Z families

I think it is healthy and necessary to keep reinventing yourself and not get stuck in one narrowly defined image. Madonna has done this to perfection. Gaga is somewhat trapped in her persona right now, and you hear many people saying that they are tired of her.   Since you cannot really attack Adam on singing ability or personality, some people love to hate his looks. He is making this really difficult lately, because he looked spectacular on Ellen and Leno and all the interviews. So now they want him to go back to heavy make-up  so they can have something to make fun of? I don’t think so. The funny thing is that I find less-than-perfect looks very relatable, and perfect looking talentless people very boring.
With Adam, his attraction is all in his talent and attitude.

We don’t know for sure that he is getting an Idol performance slot. Other ex-Idols have claimed this in the past, then never get spots. I would guess that he will get a spot, but until it’s officially announced, anything could happen. He could end up getting squeezed out if bigger names decide they want to perform on the show or if other ex-Idols with new music coming out do better in terms of sales/chart performance. Since he’s not with UMG, the label won’t be pushing for an appearance — they’ll be pushing Scotty, Lauren, Haley, Pia…

“I think it is healthy and necessary to keep reinventing yourself and not get stuck in one narrowly defined image.”

Hmm, one is “improve” your style and something else “change” your style. Is it something new, interesting, exciting in his new style?  And not to be stuck with the same image, what should we expect for next album to keep it fresh, straw hats or something? All the female artists are in different league, show something to keep their styles fresh, for Adam is not so easy as an artist based only on voice, in a music world where people pay no attention to voices or lyrics. AI-RCA team is on the top of music business with message propaganda songs, see even Adam’s song doesn’t go so far from, Kelly’s song Stronger would be better fitted/doing commercial for “something” else than Toyota. I’m happy DC’s We Believe didn’t go for a single as many fans have wanted, from TOML to music that reminds me of music from my childhood to artificially heal the mood with nice, empty words. At least his career is on freeze now and not to be more damaged.

ETA1: Madonna invented new image(s) for herself, she did not copy her image from somebody else.

And she took the risks at some age (not so young like KP, GaGa) to show her style, liked it or not, inventing or copying styles, she proved something beyond the condition of you’re every day comfort musical style/musician. Music is full of comfort musicians, I’ve hopped maybe too much from AI, maybe The Voice, X Factor will find more unique musicians beyond their great voices, I’m sick and tired of talents youtube/MySpace-discoveries.

ETA2: I represent the minuscule of 0.01% people here who see different than the rest of 99.99% one, so not a big deal, “With Adam, his attraction is all in his talent and attitude” his fans are happy and “safe”, hope he gets many new fans too. Wish him good luck with new album and career, hopefully I see Adam with some Q music soon.

turquoisewaters – I agree with every word of your post. I loved his glittery look during GNT & I love his look now. Perhaps even more. But I also know there will be other looks in the future & I will love them too. Because this is the real Adam, changing looks as he did as a child with costumes & makeup. I love who this man is & what he’s wearing or how he styles his hair doesn’t change that one bit.

I would hope that James is joining these celebs to speak out against bullying and not to promote his album or “bullying” songs (which would be really tacky IMO, unless he recorded a different version with the proceeds going to this charity).

So that whole “Material Girl” video which was based on Marilyn Monroe’s “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” performance was just a dream?

Maybe it was just a coincidence!

I’ll be joining you, GS!!!!!! Look for the gal with brown shoulder length hair, turquoise/bright green/black plaid flannel shirt with black turtleneck and black rider boots. The radio station promised the gal I’m going with front row seats so hopefully will be sitting toward the front.

Chiming in extremely late on the Adam photograph (although I’ve been reading the comments with interest), I hope this isn’t the whole image for the cover.  Not because it isn’t handsome.  He looks gorgeous, but I expect more “concept” in an Adam album cover.

FYE was a headshot, but a really strange, fun headshot that made people talk. The picture for BTIKM isn’t much more than a headshot, but he’s wearing an interesting jacket and there’s a bit of graffiti wall behind him, and it looks like something is going on.

This shot is just a basic soulful-eyed shot.  I’m hoping the final image is going to express more of the light/dark concept that Adam keeps talking about for the album.

Bullying is obviously an issue that James feels strongly about.  As far as I’m concerned, he can do whatever helps to communicate how wrong and damaging it is.

If it helps promote his music or career, that’s good for him, but I’m quite sure it won’t be the primary motivation for him.

WTG!!!!!! I’ll be there with my wonderful 17 yr. old daughter who won the passes! Don’t know what we’ll be wearing yet, but we’re tall, I’m 5’11′ and she’s 5’9”, you can’t miss us! lol.
    I’ll look for you!
    Again, Congrats!!

I wouldn’t worry Montavilla. No way is this photo the album cover art. It appears to be an official promo pic, but the album cover will be released with much fanfare I’m sure, and much closer to the Trespassing release date. You know that Adam is going to make a big deal out of debuting his cover art!

Thank you for your post, Montavilla. That’s all I can say without saying too much.

    Well said! ;)

ETA: This was in reply to Turquoisewaters…not sure why it doesn’t show that.

I hope so too.  I was responding to this post, where it seemed
like the idea of this cause being used to promote an album/songs was being praised and was primarily a promotional opportunity initiated by Wind Up, which I think is not a good idea at all.

Unfortunately, I agree that an Idol performance slot isn’t a given for Adam this year.  I don’t know how significant the opening montage of previous Idols is, but it does appear that they are placing far more emphasis on last year’s signees, and excluding successful non-winners from previous years.  I would feel more confident of a slot for Adam if he were still being managed by Fuller.

Adam got a HUGE bump when he performed WWFM on Idol in S10 so I would love for him to have a slot on the show. He always profits from a live appearance. Having said that,  I wouldn’t be too disappointed if he didn’t get one. I think the show is losing steam & pumping out too many “stars” most of whom never make much of an impact. I lost interest midway through S10.
