Kellie Pickler Shows Undeniable ‘Proof’ of Her Country Roots – Kellie Pickler doesn’t have a censor, and that’s what is so refreshingly delicious about both the country star’s personality and her music. The 25-year-old blond beauty from Albemarle, NC, is an open book about the skeletons in her family’s closet, from her father’s stints in jail to her mother’s abandonment, and even her own struggles with her weight. The storms she’s weathered on the way from small-town girl to ‘American Idol’ finalist and now country superstar have proven to be lucrative inspiration for her music, especially apparent on her third studio album, ’100 Proof.’ In turn, this new music has proven to be therapy for the now blissfully happy Kellie. – Read more at The Boot

That is a ridiculously gorgeous picture of Adam.  We often feel guilty for letting looks play a role in how we feel about a singer thinking it is a shallow consideration.  We shouldn’t as liking attractive people is hardwired in our brains.  Also maintaining an attractive appearance involves work too.

  • electric_dog

This picture looks familiar, I have seen this before:

    http://www.brunomars.com/photo/bc0b67-photo-credit-andreas-laszlo-konrath/

  • gferna

That photo has been around for while… It’s simple, far away form FYE’s, clean look… I like it… If I have to choose, I’d prefer the acoustic cd cover…

  • mmb

Those photos have nothing in common other than being photos of male pop singers wearing suits.  Lots of other male pop singers have been photographed weating suits as well.

Anyway, nice pic of Adam, but is that album art or just promo pic?

I’m seeing Kelly Clarkson tonight!!!!! (i’ve never seen her live before and i’m kinda excited…..)

Jordin Sparks article in the new People about her upcoming film Sparkle. also a nice pic of her and Whitney Houston.

Love that Adam picture.  Is it a Lee Cherry pic?  I am really hoping Lee does the album photography this time.

They are obviously going for a more mainstream look this time around. I think it’s very smart.

  • Anonymous

That picture of Adam is gorgeous, but it looks way too altered and airbrushed to me.  Even his face shape doesn’t quite look like him.  If you take a recent picture (real photo) of him and put it side by side with this picture, you will see what I mean.  I much prefer to see the real Adam myself.

Amazing picture of Adam. I wonder if this is part of the album art. When he tweeted that he was doing the album photo shoot he had the shaved sides, but this is a totally different look. Maybe they scrapped that and went a different way. Either way, looking forward to all the Adam visuals to come.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree.  The best pics of Adam I’ve seen have been taken by Lee Cherry.

  • Anonymous

Okay the similiarity between the Bruno pic and the Adam pic are kinda obvious.
That said, I really like the “new” Adam. He just needs to change up the Bruno vibe a little (maybe change the hair or something).

  • fuzzywuzzy

Gee.  Sorry, but I think that those pics suck.

  • Kirsten

the wedding pics for Nikki and Paul are out.

Wow. Those are stunning photos. It just goes to show that it takes more to be a good photographer than simply having a good camera.

LOL at the cake topper (it even includes their dog!). The wedding really seemed to suit the couple.

  • justshootme

Love the Adam photo and really hope he does something similar for the album cover.

And I hardly think Bruno has the patent on photos in suits and pompadours. Elvis and Frank Sinatra maybe.  As for cardigans and couches?  Possibly Mr. Rogers.

  • Anonymous

meh. I like them enough. I have to admit that the picture of them standing in the middle of the road reminds me of the American Gothic painting.

  • Anonymous

The cake topper was definitely the best. It shows them as they are and I love it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S3ZGXZCUE2YYOS7QV6QSTKM4SA buffynut2001

Ha, ha! Good one! Bruno Mars could only wish (dream) about looking as good as Adam does in those pics!!

  • Anonymous

Bruno doesn’t have a patent on any look but he’s def brought that particular retro look back in style. And Adam looked completely different for the FYE rollout so he’s the one changing it up not Bruno.

Although I did read that Bruno was thinking of losing the pompador.

  • Anonymous

    That’s really stretching things.

The picture of Bruno shows him walking down a street with a tux on. How is that in anyway familiar to the picture of Adam? Is it that they both have suits on? When men dress up, they often wear suits, that doesn’t mean they are copying each other.

Since Adam is copying Bruno’s video, I wonder if he will also wear a cross around his neck and converse shoes? lol

I think Bruno copied Adam. Adam had a couch AND a bed in his WWFM video. At least Bruno copied someone relevant! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/barbara.swanson1 Barbara Swanson

    Re Bruno Mars and Adam:
Adam began rocking his pompadour beginning in Idol–years before Bruno was a household name and certainly before he was known enough to have his picture everywhere….if anything, I think both Bruno and Adam know what looks good on them and like to play with their hair.

  • Anonymous

Bruno started as an kid impersonating Elvis so I think he’s been rocking the pompador for a LONG time! Yes, even before Adam showed up on Idol. ;)

Of course you could say they’re both doing the Elvis thing!

  • Anonymous

wow. y’alls passive aggressiveness is showing.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S3ZGXZCUE2YYOS7QV6QSTKM4SA buffynut2001

Bruno will never end the pompador because it adds 3 inches to his height and he needs those 3 inches. It’s another reason for the hats.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, it’s airbrushed, but there’s no doubt who it is.  Adam’s been fortunate in having classic patrician features that translate to pixels like few others.  Stunning pic.

  • ryuryu10

WTF?  I really can’t believe anyone would accuse Aam of copying Bruno Mars. Adam occasionally dressed in a suit and sported pompadour hair way before Bruno became famous. It’s Bruno who copied Janelle monae’s style and changed his hair and fashion.

  • Anonymous

Well actually Adam’s ‘do goes all the way back to the Zodiac days, and as far as the suits, Bruno wears a more retro look- the tight fitting- size- too small- jackets and shorter pants to match his Doo Waps and Hooligans album image. Adams suits are not like that at all- they are more contemporary. There is nothing retro about them IMHO. YMMV yadda yadda yadda

  • Anonymous

T-shirts are cardigans now?  As for couches, I have three.  They seem to be fairly common motifs in houses. lol

Can’t really see the similarity in the pics beyond them being males and in suits. Styles are different, color schemes are different, and poses are different. Honestly, type in “man in suit” and Google image search. You’ll see dozens of photos that are similar. Hard not to be based on those criteria.

Frankly, neither Adam or Bruno originated the look, nor have exclusive rights to it. They use whatever styles work for them, and that’s okay in my book.

  • askance

I thought Adam went for the Chris Isaak look ;)

    http://youtu.be/zanYf6c-DpA

Lee Cherry takes great pics of Adam. Also the photos in Japanese mags have generally been really great imo.

  • http://twitter.com/lorismile1 Lori

I love that pic of Adam.  I enjoy the Lee pictures but he uses too much airbrush sometimes.  Then again, so do most photographers.

Some of my favorite pictures were the professional ones from the show he did in Moscow.  Those rocked!

  • Anonymous

Just looked it up, Bruno is 5’5″. I didn’t know he was that short!

Bruno and Adam are both extremely talented in their own ways. They are both excellent performers. Both guys are confident and talented enough to have their own styles and to try new things.

I just hate to hear that the collaboration between the two of them might not make the final cut. Maybe the song will make it as one of the bonus cuts?

  • Anonymous

Adam was rocking the pompadour before Bruno was famous, and since I doubt Adam was aware of a ten year old Elvis impersonator years ago he’s not copying him. Bruno WAS the ten year old Elvis impersonator, so he’s not copying Adam. I agree that their styles have more to do with Elvis than each other. Also, the only thing retro about Adam’s look is his hair, I don’t think he is aiming at all for the all over retro look like Bruno based on what I’ve seen him wear on Ellen and Jay. A suit is just classy on any man and the Ellen outfit was edgy.

  • Anonymous

The wedding pictures of Paul and Nikki are gorgeous and that cake topper is so funny!
Love the picture of Adam-he is incredibly photogenic.
    Jordan looks beautiful.
    So much pretty here today.

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

I see absolutely no similarity between Adam and Bruno. Both guys are good looking guys but Bruno doesn’t give me the Elvis vibe but more the Jackie Wilson vibe. Bruno’s hair is also slightly processed to get that pompador hairdo while Adam’s is all natural.

  • ronnie

That Adam photo is definitely a copy of the Bruno Mars one, it even has the same open kind of collar.  I hope Kellie Pickler has a lot of success with her new album, she deserves it.  Darren Criss is certainly the break-out star of Glee these days, he seems to get more attention than anyone except Lea Michelle

  • Anonymous

Adam looks very handsome in that new promo picture.

I always thought it was great how Adam looks so good dressed in suits and his O=T stage costumes.

  • Anonymous

Right. That photo (as is the single photo) is very heavily airbrushed, his cheeks, jawbone, and chin are sculpted and his nose softened – but yes, isn’t he just gor-jus. :)

  • Anonymous

Adam looks more like David Bowie than Bruno Mars in that picture.

    Either way, it doesn’t matter.

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

I found that interview with James Durbin. I presume, for what he says, that he definetively doesn’t like Love Me Bad. Plus, there are also the controversial statements that he always says.

  • Kirsten

Question of the day: Is Bruno copying Adam or is Adam copying Bruno?

    My response: Neither.

They are both wearing stylish clothes. There is little leeway in men’s fashion so not surprisngly, if they are wearing clothes, there is going to be some similarity. I think Adam looks great and Bruno looks great and I’m kind of liking the current trend towards snappy suits.  I love that blue.

  • Anonymous

All I can say is there’s nothing new under the sun, especially a man wearing a suit with an open collar shirt–that is if you don’t wear a tie, you need to unbutton the collar. Who is copying whom is totally non sense, since most of men can or did rock that look more than once in their live. It’s just a standard look. The only thing set Mr. Lambert apart is he is just better looking than most of the men, including Bruno Mars.

  • Anonymous

    if they are wearing clothes

Most important thing I took away from your comment was that Adam and Bruno both need to be wearing less clothes.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S3ZGXZCUE2YYOS7QV6QSTKM4SA buffynut2001

I think 5’5″ is Bruno with the pompador or hat on. I’ve seen him up close and I am 5’4″ and he was shorter than me. I’d put him at 5’3″

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

Dunno if you are aware, but suits generally have collars. I see no similarity. I especially see no similarity in their vocals, and they are both excellent vocalists.

  • Anonymous

Well they’re both going for the 50′s rocker/Elvis look! That said, Bruno is more famous than Adam and is kind of known for his style. Since Adam has changed up his look, some folks might see it as following Bruno’s style. Though most probably won’t notice and/orcare!

They just have to be careful that the BTIKM video doesn’t follow the style model of Bruno’s videos. Same colors, etc. Because it can be a problem if one artist is seen as copying another’s style too closely. I’ve heard fans say BTIKM is like a Bruno song (not to me) so again they need to avoid reproducing looks/styles. However, what looks similiar to me may look differently to folks who follow men’s fashions more closely.

  • Anonymous

I think photos like Adam’s here are forms of 21st century art using the tools of the digital age.  A lot of deccisions went into this photo.  Note how the color of the suit plays off his eyes, how the dark shadow pops his cheekbones or how his hair falls on his forehead.  It is not a real moment in time but rather a created visual fantasy.  Of course, Adam did contribute his good bones.

  • Anonymous

I am pretty sure Lee Cherry meant to give it an airbrush like that. It’s almost painting- like. But seriously- that IS his profile. Look at any of the pics from the Leno appearance- totally untouched.

  • http://twitter.com/scclarke90 Shelly

i really doubt anyone would even make that connection. adam has dressed down like this before.

  • Anonymous

I can’t believe they airbrushed out his chest hair lololol

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S3ZGXZCUE2YYOS7QV6QSTKM4SA buffynut2001

There is absolutely nothing about Adam’s look, in either pic, that is either 50s or retro. Zero. Adam’s suit is modern and tailored.
Bruno indeed has a retro look, because as someone stated earlier, it goes with the whole Doo Wops and Hooligans vibe. Also, Adam’s hair is not a pompador. It is his spikey wolf look. Pompadors are combed and gelled or sprayed to stay in place. Adam had it for Tracks of My Tears, on AI, but not in either of these pics.

  • Anonymous

I love seeing men in suits, especially without a tie on. Both Bruno and Adam can rock that look and each one have something unique about them.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

Suits are dull…simply because they are so agonizingly similar. I wish we could go back to dressing men up the way they were in the upper classes in the early 17th century, but, tragically, style does not move that way. They’re both wearing versions of the same extraordinarily dull early 21st century suit. That’s where the similarity begins and ends.

  • http://twitter.com/sagajo saga

I agree with the Bowie feeling.

Yes. Just to refresh everybody’s memory, I give you AI8 performance Track of my tears, that’s 2009, before Bruno Mars became The Bruno Mars. HAHA.

I didn’t even notice that! That whole picture and it’s airbrushing (it’s a horror and completely uncommon for a celeb or musician to be airbrushed) is so stylized, I think it’s all intentionally going for a specific feel. And that feel doesn’t have chest hair for some reason. Lol.

Well they’re both going for the 50′s rocker/Elvis look!

Not sure what you’re basing that on. In the pic in today’s headlines, the blue suit he’s wearing is the same one he wore to the EMA red carpet (with those loltastic electric blue creepers) and the cut of the suit is modern not retro. Plus Adam’s hair isn’t even really in a true pompadour because the ends are spiked up and slightly tousled. As for the video, the only things in the sepia toned shot that actually make it feel retro are the sepia tones themselves and an old style fan, but the furniture and Adam’s clothes aren’t really retro at all, I could go probably find that couch in a Danish Modern furniture store today and his clothes just look comfy. Plus the pic tweeted by a crew member the day of the shoot has Adam in his long black Gareth Pugh coat and medges. So I don’t see a 50′s look at all.

  • Anonymous

YES! Chris IssaK and David Bowie- those are good ones. And Bruno/ Jacki Wilson is perfect.

  • Anonymous

Real professional photography is art…every little thing is thought of to create the a story without words. Every abgle, hair placement, the lighting, where the shadows will fall, how the colors interact with each other….they all tell that story.

In this particular picture the story is says…..Damn Adam is FINE

Huh? I am sure Adam has been doing his thing before Bruno became mainstream. You must not have been following him, otherwise you would have seen all the various fashion dos including hairstyles he has had since his wicked days i.e. before Idol.

Maybe you should google Adam Lambert pics to discover more about him.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CNA7OAJHY3SZJMD7A7GX45CTJE Funke

Adam was doing pompador even during the Idol tour and Bruno was yet to have a hit then, meaning he was not yet very popular.

Probably you re familiar more with Bruno hairstyle because you don’t follow Adam which is understandable.

So I don’t agree with you he is doing any Bruno thing as Adam was in the public eyes before him LOL!

Wasn’t Adam ‘Track of my tears’ AI performance style just like this? He even rocked the old school vibe before Bruno came to public consciousness.

  • CindyM

Adam looks gorgeous in that photo!!  He looked amazing on Ellen and Jay Leno too.  What a week for Adam fans, I’m a little exhausted.  Stellar performances on both Ellen and Leno, stellar reviews on tons of sites about the two performances, so many mentions of his flawless high notes and vocals, no excuses having to be made about his performances and a great itunes bump too!!

I’m also psyched about all the reviews coming from the UK about his music! Loved all of them but am excited over the OK!, Dean Piper and 4Music ones since they seem to reach a larger audience.

    Is it March yet??

ETA: the video still still reminds me of the WWFM apartment set  to be honest.  That video came out in January 2010, well before Bruno’s video.  I guess any video with a couch must be copying Bruno..even if it came out two years before.

I can never resist the urge to watch TOMT when it’s mentioned. It’s my all time favorite song and look. I remember when they panned out to the top 10 (?) that night at the beginning of the show and seeing him in that suit and just dyyyyyying.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CNA7OAJHY3SZJMD7A7GX45CTJE Funke

I have not seen any fan say BTIKM is a like a Bruno song. I have personally answered people that said it was doomed to fail and would only chart on HAC, that it is not worse than the Bruno songs since he is basically an HAC artist who CHR seems to love as well.

As for people thinking Adam would be copying Bruno, all they need to do for any one newly discovering him is to google him or go to Youtube. There are enough evidences there to show that Adam has been doing his thing before Bruno thought of coming to the limelight.

  • Anonymous

”so many mentions of his flawless high notes and vocals, no excuses having to be made about his performances”

    ^This^

…and at least I can say I am excited for his Acoustic performances.I know it would be stellar, be it in the morning or afternoon or evening; sitting or standing; with or without colds :D

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

At first I was excited about the Adam/Bruno collaboration but now I have to agree that this album is Adam’s baby. Several people who reviewed it were pleased he executive produced this himself and it is all Adam. Any Bruno connection will leave room for all the Bruno comparison. Someone who heard the track said it is another hit potential but I preferred it be a bonus or international track

  • Anonymous

That’s funny, because I remember thinking as they panned down the line, where is Adam at. I didn’t recognize him, because he looked so different.

  • Anonymous

Love talking about Adam’s hair.  There’s a great vid somewhere with pics of its multifarious incarnations.  As some wag said – needs a website of its own.

  • Anonymous

me too! And then when I reallized I got all googly eyed, lol. Me and my bff I think were actually squeeing.

Speaking of squeeing, after watching the Leno vid for the umpteenth time, does anyone hear the lone little squee when Jay announces Adam. It’s hysterical if you watch it as much as I do. Only me? alrighty.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CNA7OAJHY3SZJMD7A7GX45CTJE Funke

Thanks for those pics! I didn’t see any retro vibe in none of it!

I think it is sometimes normal for fans to think other artists are copying their idols since they basically only follow those artists they idolize. So looking at it from that way, I can kind of understand those who feel Adam is copying Bruno is coming from since they have basically been living in the Bruno Mars bubble.

  • Anonymous

    Damn – that’s a gorgeous performance.

Is this going to be the album cover?  I suppose no one knows.  Adam looks great and I agree – it is the wolf look/bowie look I’m seeing.  Love Bruno though and hope his song makes the cut.  I am so anxious to hear what they came up with together!  Oh, and Cuokoo too , of course!

  • Anonymous

Yes, remember Adam’s saying that his theater training and experience taught him “how to sing through a cold.”  Also, at the end of S8 Tour, pretty much all the kids got sick – Adam did, too – said something to the effect that the cold “ran away with the goods.”  Still gave a great performance – more body action than high notes – interesting in its own way – lol.

Actually I think it’s more likely that any pic that Adam goes ahead and tweets now is out of the running for album cover. They’re gonna wanna keep that for it’s own announcement. It could make the album booklet though or it might just be one of the promo pics used for presskits.

This is a really good article, people have become very rude when it comes to cell phones and to a lesser extent young children.  I don’t have a problem with people bringing their kids to all kinds of events, just be ready to remove the kid quickly if necessary.  And unless you are a doctor on call, turn the darn thing OFF not on vibrate OFF.

Love the snark, EmyR. I’ll take the fans’ word for any differences, it does look ‘painterly’ and stylized, and it’s very nicely done, IMO. Three quarter profile shots are often the best angle to take a picture from. Maybe chest hair was too ‘real’ for the feel they were after?

I only have one question – what did they do to AL’s eyebrow? I know it doesn’t really grow from almost the bridge of his nose – I’ve seen candids – it’s a normal eyebrow. But now, every time I see the pic here, that’s what jumps out at me.  Heh. Wish I had never noticed it.

  • Anonymous

That picture is beautiful.  That’s all I have.

  • Anonymous

Wait! Isn’t he copying Johnny Depp here? :)

  • Anonymous

I don’t notice anything different with his eyebrows, but maybe it’s the angle of the camera and that he’s furrowing his brow that makes them look strange to you. If he was looking straight on, they’d likely look “normal.”

Though to be fair, he has questionably filled in his eyebrows (sharpie eyebrows are so strange) and sculpted them into unnatural looking shapes before (only Darren Criss pulls off triangles) imo so who really knows. Lol.

ETA: Discussion about eyebrows is very high on my weirdest topics conversation, btw.

Loved Australian performance,he is a pro vocalist,Adam is a gifted artist who happeds to be a very handsome man with great sense in fashion and his hair needs its own zipcode, fantasyic hair and Adam has styled it in so many varried ways that you can make a long movie or a hair.style book out of that.

I was reading a similar story last week when it pop up on my Adam google alert. I think it is rude that people bring babies and cell phones to these kinds of shows. Even at the movie theaters a crying baby can be annoying. Get a babysitter people. Adam’s cell phone incident gets mentioned in the most awkward cell phone interruptions at the side.

Final straw: New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert saw red
when a mobile phone went off during a New York Philharmonic performance

I will say Kellie Pickler is just about as cute as can be and I hope she never learns to censer herself,  I guess we could compare her to Dolly Parton or maybe Reba, you know kinda goofey, cute and country

Adam is looking incredible lately.  I love him glamed but I think the “less is more” looks better on him.  He looks much younger.  And happy!  :-)

  • Anonymous

LOL.. freckled_LIPS, you must have missed Prof. Glampants’ class yesterday on twitter. Adam gave a quick lesson about voice and Adam rarely uses his falsetto.

  • Anonymous

Must be Saturday!   I am, however, thankful that Adam’s hair always presents controversy and speculation.    There is absolutely no controversy about his voice, as, in my humble opinion, it cannot be duplicated in today’s market.   Nuf said.   Happy weekend.

  • Trina

“Stand Up,” definitely. “Love Me Bad”  is good for what it’s worth, but
it’s definitely not my favorite song on the album. There’s so many other
songs on the album that would be a better representation of me coming
    straight off the bat.

Well that kind of kills the belief I’ve seen stated that James MUST love LMB since he agreed to record it, also kills the notion that he helped choose the 1st single. As I said a long time ago – artists more famous and more powerful than James cant choose their singles or pick what songs they get to record so I never bought that he had that that luxury as a newbie.

Then he goes on to say this..

As far as songwriting and recording and music videos and style and how I
present myself, I have complete control over it, and I intend to keep
    it that way.

He has complete control over recording despite not being crazy about LMB as the first single? Or for that matter didnt even know SU would be on the album or be a single at one point? Oh James dont ever change lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

James probably doesn’t even realize how he’s contradicting himself.  lol

  • http://twitter.com/svmreiter Susan Reiter

Of course, this makes sense.  I hope it makes the booklet – it is very flattering.

  • Anonymous

    He never does lol

  • Anonymous

I think James started to hate Love Me Bad when he saw his fans’ reaction to it.

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

There is nothing worse than an artists sabotaging himself by publicly dissing his own music. Even if he felt this way he should keep it to himself and sell the shit out of it. The media and radio people can pick up on this and than why would they want to support or spin the song on the radio if the artist can’t stand it himself. If and that’s a big if he gets another song radio may not be in a rush to spin it if they themselves start to losing interest with LMB. Part of being an artist you have to sell yourself and make other people believe you believe in your own work.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I really do love that photo of Adam, but he looks quite young.  Is that a recent picture?

  • Anonymous

I just think James speak without thinking things through, don’t know if it’s ego, Aspers or a combination of both. Labels don’t give new artist that much control over their debut albums, because the majority of the artist wouldn’t know what to do in the first place. Especially, when it comes to American Idol contestants, because the majority of them are rushed into the studio and try to get a album out quickly, so they can take advantage of their fan base while it’s still intact.

I think Idols do get more control over the second one, if they have a successful first album and can prove to the label that they know what their doing.

  • Anonymous

Don’t Idols usually wait until they are putting out their second album before saying they didn’t like their music from their first album?

But hey James is always good for entertainment

  • larc

I really do love that photo of Adam, but he looks quite young. Is that a recent picture?

    Very recent and very airbrushed.

Has Jordin been in the recording studio at all lately? She’s been filming this movie for the last several months, I wonder if she’s had time to get a lot done yet in terms of her next album. Of course they put that single out months and months ago, so maybe she got muh of it done before she started working on the movie?

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

But that’s the whole point: LMB doesn’t please the fans and doesn’t please outside the fanbase.

    Higher than Heaven, All i Want, May and Crawling Home would have potential to be a hit;

  • Anonymous

    Wow, slow news day, huh?

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

I don’t think they should even do that. The first album is trial and error and by touring you’ll get to know what your audience fans and non fans like. Your first album isn’t going to ever go away it will be a part of your body of work. I say come second album move on and if the label gives you the freedom you can better represent yourself than. If your second album becomes successful people are going to go back and buy your first album so I say STFU and sell out.

  • shell29

    LOL…apparently.

  • http://twitter.com/lorismile1 Lori

I’m listening to the interviews Adam did this week and I still find it amazing the label allowed him to be the Executive Producer for his 2nd album.  Then to read all the UK reviews.  The label must be excited.

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

Your missing the point. It is the song that is being promoted. What could of would of doesn’t matter right now. He needs to keep his negative feelings out of the public. As a non fan I would be hesitate to buy the song if I read the artist hates it himself. Not all non fans may or may not like the song because not enough people are hearing it on the radio. His Audience impression is enough. Negative vibe isn’t good to start with your first album.

Adam is getting a lot of international radio promo. An Adam Lambert hour is playing right now in New Zealand:

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree.  And if the fans and radio had loved LMB, then James would love it too.  lol

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

Ah Liam is playing Leno’s live BTIKM performance. He sounds great.

  • Anonymous

I just read the article about James (sorry, I hadn’t read it yet before when I commented).  Anyway, he didn’t say he hates LMB, it sounded to me like he was saying there were other songs on the CD that were better and now he wishes he could have re-recorded LMB with a little harder edge.  I do see the point about him contradicting himself though – I do remember him saying he was helping to pick the first single, and he has made comments in other articles and interviews like he likes LMB.  I still think it was the more recent reaction from his fans – when some of them were actually trying to get Wind Up to switch singles and give up on LMB that made James not like it and lose confidence in it now.  And I think those fans did more harm than good for James and that messed with James’ mind a bit to have his hardcore fan base turning against his first real single.  I know his fans think there are better songs on that CD (and I agree), but whether they like LMB or not – they didn’t have to request it on the radio or buy it or promote it if they didn’t want to – but to so vocally turn against it like they did wasn’t good for James, in my opinion.  As Whiskey said, what’s done is done – the single is out there now and it is still charting – so some people out there like that song – why discourage them from liking it by having James and/or his own fans talking negatively about it.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree, not to mention publicly dissing the people of Santa Cruz (in a Santa Cruz publication) who supported him so much during his Idol run.  lol

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

Liam is playing “Enter Sandman” now. Damn Adam can Rock out anything.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“But hey James is always good for entertainment”

I agree, except the people of Santa Cruz may not be so entertained.  lol

  • Anonymous

He’s juicing! LOL It’s his new IT topic in interviews, except from Sauli who he can ramble about forever if he’s left to it.

He does look way younger.  He’s  visibly slimmer and happy and he’s living healthy lately.  It really shows :)

  • Anonymous

I got the feeling that maybe that was James way of getting back at some of the people who bullied him so bad, because he said a lot of the people he went to high school with aren’t doing anything with their lives now.  People who were mean to him possibly? He specifically mentioned skateboarders I think – and he had said before he was beaten up twice in a park by skateboarders – if I remember right.

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

I talked once with a fan of Durbin, from Santa Cruz, and he said people there really don’t do anything. Just smoke weed all day.

  • Anonymous

So James is LOL and Adam’s hair is the stuff of hard-hitting news.

    Another slow day in Idoltown.

  • fuzzywuzzy

But he didn’t say that and instead, it was a blanket condemnation of the people of Santa Cruz.  lol

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

I agree with about the way Durbin’s fans should talk with him about it. But I still think it’s better a fanbase that criticizes than “everything from you is wonderful” fans.

Besides that, my concern about LMB is that: people may not hate it, but I never met anyone who really lvoed it. I really think it’s a waste of time. I understood everything you and whiskey explained, but all these acoustic shows of LMB are a waste of time. And I just hope I’m wrong.

  • fuzzywuzzy

James mentioned in an interview that he was once pretty much a loser – doing drugs, partying, etc.  Pot calling the kettle black?  lol

LOL…yes, it is an extremely slow Idol news day.  Maybe something will happen for the evening headlines!

  • milwlovesadam

Slow news day indeed. I’m just laughing here. All I know is that the picture of Adam is art. If it ends up being the album cover or not. It is simply beautiful. Beautiful picture of a beautiful person.

Eyebrows? They’ve been shaped differently before. Who cares?
Makeup? Love the less is more look.
Chest hair? Jeepers. It’s been shaved before. WLL on Idol anybody?
Suits? Adam loves a jacket. He’s said in interviews he’s got waaay too many.

    Who’s he channeling?

    Adam Freaking Lambert that’s who!!

  • judes

I think James was intimating that at least he has moved on from that scene & I’ve read where he gives credit to Heidi for that. I’m one that does really like LMB -but I’m not a hard core fan!
The one thing I’ve learned on this thread about “hairgate” is that I really like Bruno’s new single -thanks for sharing it.

  • Chris

LMB is very ’80s rock, Stand Up is better but it feels like it needs something like a big event. I don’t know what he’s standing up for…

And James inserts his foot in his mouth repeatedly so yes, I think it’s his condition, no filter. But we will always know what he’s thinking.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I can understand the part about having no ‘filter’, but I find it amusing that James can contradict himself so obviously within the same interview.  lol Having no ‘filter’ and contradicting himself are totally different things.

  • Anonymous

Wow!  We sure got a lot of chitchat mileage out of a photo.  Good job to all involved.

As for copying Bruno, nah.  Let’s face it, guys don’t have as many options as girls do. Suits, jackets..And he’s already thrown in medges, codpieces, corsets ;)  I’d say he looks like JT high fashion a bit.  Now if he starts making out with a girl on a couch in his video, we will know for sure he’s copying Bruno.

James’s comment about the surfboard in the garage is really funny – would’ve loved to have heard the tone of his voice when he said it.

Adam’s photo very airbrushed? Maybe slightly airbrushed, but he looked just as young & just as yummy on Leno & HD TV is a bitch!

Regardless, all such photos are likely to be touched up, but Adam ihas been wearing little makeup lately and he looks a lot younger “unvarnished” lol!

  • http://twitter.com/1WaySTweet Ron Simpson

Photogate: My 2 cents. There is nothing authentic about that photo. Not his hair color, his face shape, his eyebrows or his painted and airbrushed skin. Every inch of him is altered from his natural looks to some artificially created image. It might be gorgeous but it isn’t Adam.

Hate LMB, Love LMB, at this point I think it’s counterproductive to James to argue the single choice anymore. What’s done is done. Moving on.
I have passes for a private acoustic session on Tues. in AC NJ sponsered by a local radio station. There is a meet and greet also. I plan on telling James, I love the album, commend him on turning his life around, and wish him luck going forward in his career. That’s it.

  • Anonymous

So has Danny officially gone Christian?  Since Ma$e is now a preacher?

  • Anonymous

A long time ago I heard him something like his voice was the real deal,  but his looks were “smoke and mirrors”  I say good for him as in his line of work a beautiful physical image is a huge plus.  Also his basics are strong, tall, even featured, gorgeous blue eyes.  He was being harsh with himself with the smoke and mirrors line IMO.

  • sagi

I don’t know, looks like some airbrushing to even out imperfections and to enhance features, but it is totally Adam! Its not like the album cover of James Durbin where James looks like a completely different person, IMO.

  • Anonymous

Adam is a very handsome man with gorgrous hair, beautiful blue eyes and flare for fashion and not afraid to try new style of hair or clothes.

  • steph6449

Nothing official has come to light about the direction for Danny’s next album but he has been making more frequent references to it lately. It sounds as if his goal is to continue to be based in country but take greater freedom in fusing elements of other music interests / influences that he has.

He also has talked about wanting to do some collaborations, which is how I took the recording with Ma$e which may or may not be intended for Danny’s own album plans.

Hard to know for sure, lol.  Belief among Danny’s fans is that it’s unlikely we will see anything concrete for music news for a while given the upcoming (almost imminent) wedding.

Any media covering Danny has almost exclusively been mainstream or country, which to me is a sign that he is staying in that world. He also commented several times at a church appearance a couple weeks back that he is working in secular music.

  • GS61

    I will:)

LOL and now #Lambertsongswithjuice is trending world wide! I love this fandom :)

  • GS61

I don’t think that is a fan’s responsibility. That should come from a manager or a label.

  • CindyM

LOL. All this mileage from a picture, I love it!

I have not seen one picture from an Idol that hasn’t been airbrushed in some way.  Not one.  Hell, I haven’t seen an album cover of ANY artist where there’s not some type of airbrushing.  Whether its giving them a little more hair than they naturally have, evening out their skin, minimizing their big ears, etc.  I’ve seen plenty of pictures of Adam without and without makeup, and I think he’s gorgeous either way.  Part of what makes him gorgeous to me too though is his personality and his immense vocal talent.  A voice like his, well some try to imitate it, but they don’t come close to the control and skill he has.  But it’s all subjective.  I’m just glad that photographers care about him enough to take his picture and I get lots of opportunities to see new ones!

I agree GS61, that shouldn’t come from a fan.  I’m sure his management and label are advising him well in that regard.

I saw the episode of NY Ink with James on it today and he came off really well.  That was a cool tattoo, that artist does excellent koi tattoos.

  • CindyM

James hair is dyed in that picture, isn’t it?? I don’t know anyone who grows blond and brown hair at the same time.  And well, based on this picture from the Idol pics, they’ve done airbrushing on his jaw.

I’ve seen so many pics of James, and really no two look exactly alike.

Lol. This is all very silly. Photoshopping, dying one’s hair, and being inspired by other people (or time periods) for clothing choices are all very common in the music/entertainment industry (and the latter two in the world in general). Both James and Adam are not unique in this and it doesn’t make either less authentic. It’s very very common.

They’re both very original personalities and have unique talents. Give credit where credit is due, imo.

  • Anonymous

You guys are cracking me up tonight.  Just 2.5 years ago we had Trapper Keeper cover and people just wanted something normal.  Now Adam has a normal promo shot in a nice suit.  Just goes to show you can’t win them all and some people never. Cest la vie.

Anyone remember Kelly’s AIEW cover? Lauren’s? Yeah, they all get photoshopped. Even Kelly’s new one has shading and smoothing.  I looked at the full HQ of Adam’s photo, his lip and ear freckles are still there, they didn’t completely remove every pore.  Cookie, James, Scotty, Kris, all have shopped photos. Hell, I’d live in a shopped photo if I could.

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

Lol, the irony. Complete different look. People just need to stop the nonsense. No photo gets printed without some altercation whether its lighting or airbrushing. Every Idol cover we have seen here has been airbrushed.

  • Anonymous

    I did! :)

Everyone is airbrushed for their cd covers: Adam, Kris, Carrie, Kelly, James, Kelly…

It’s not like it is shocking or anything new for artists to modify their pictures for album art or magazine covers. I recall a couple of magazines covers where Carrie is heavily airbrushed, and she is a beautiful girl. They have been airbrushing Kelly Clarkson to a “lighter” version of herself for years. Look at the latest album covers for Lauren or Jennifer Hudson!

The picture still looks like Adam, it’s just airbrushed like all the other Idol’s album covers!

  • Anonymous

There’s times when I wish I could get airbrushed!!!

  • durbfan

James is not contradicting himself, he’s just done with the PR talk for LMB because the time to promote it is drawing to a close. Now he’s starting PR talk for LIR (his fave? puleez!) cause Wind-up wants to release it next. And with all this talk about supporting LMB cause it’s the single, my question is: What about Stand Up?

  • Tess

Is James really getting another promoted single.  Neither of his other two are moving up the charts and its expensive to put out a single.  Maybe his label will just send it out and let the chips fall where they may…other idols have done this with a second or third single.

  • http://twitter.com/weelassie11 Lisa

Learning the new posting format.  seeing how to share a picture.  This is an image from tuke18 that i enhanced.  Adam has very changeable eyes.  Sometimes they look blue and sometimes more green.

not sure why this is posting under “lisa” when my screen name is weelassie11? guess i need to do more figuring.

  • fuzzywuzzy

What’s amusing about James is that he’s mixing up candid (=no filter) comments with PR speak, and he doesn’t even realize that he’s contradicting himself not only from one interview to another, but within the same interview!  lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

Sure he’s contradicting himself.  He did it within the same interview that was posted earlier.  lol  James doesn’t seem to be able to monitor himself so that he doesn’t contradict himself within minutes of saying something.  lol

Oh wow, Adam is looking good. Hmmm for a minute there he made me think about a juice fast myself … but nope I am committed to pizza.

Airbrushed or not, Adam is an extremely handsome man. Does he have perfect skin? No…and he’s even pointed that out himself on Twitter as one of his biggest insecurities. This guy is so freakin humble, yet carries himself in a way that’s so fierce…that in itself makes him so damn sexy in my eyes.

Those Idol singles that get thrown out there don’t do much. I think James is stuck with the singles he has. That said, the album is showing some modest legs and he is getting an Idol performance. That could sell a few more units.

  • sagi

If iI had a picture floating around for all to see, you darn better believe I would want it retouched as well! I even selected the option to have my kids (teen blemishes) school pictures retouched for an additional price so they would feel good about their pictures in the yearbook! Adam can’t get any slack, it seems, if a candid pic surfaces of him, there are some who are quick to point out his flaws, and if a retouched one surfaces, some need to point out the absence of flaws. We should all feel lucky that we are not put in the spot where we are scrutinized so lividly!

  • Anonymous

What promo picture isn’t airbrushed! All professional photos used for ads, mags, etc are airbrushed. It’s a given.

  • Anonymous

Except he doesn’t even have that much flaws anymore even.  Not to sound too biased, of course he’s not perfect and everyone has their bad angles, but he’s way thinner, his face is way less puffy, his skin is looking AMAZING lately.  His hair is awesome.  I don’t know.  Some people just HAVE to diss, in my opinion.

Plus attractiveness is subjective, so there is also that point.

“Adam can’t get any slack, it seems, if a candid pic surfaces of him, there are some who are quick to point out his flaws, and if a retouched one surfaces, some need to point out the absence of flaws. ”

Why should Adam get slack?  None of the others do. Comments are made all the time about anyone in the public eye.  He’s no special snowflake any more than any of the rest of the Idols.

James’ look is talked about all the time.  David Cook’s hair is talked about all the time.  Adam is no different.

Please excuse the quote. Still trying to learn this format.

To add to the airbrushing discussion, there was a huge leak of photos from a Robert Ascroft shoot Carrie did for an upcoming Vegas Magazine cover. Most of them hadn’t been retouched, but a few were so we were able to get a side by side comparison. I’m not posting a link to HQs because the photographer’s been going around getting them taken down but here’s a link to the side by side comparisons: http://twitpic.com/89zila/full

They hardly touched her face and it’s nice to see there isn’t much difference in the before & after. But depressingly they did make Carrie look thinner. Nothing drastic but still.

“Some people just HAVE to diss, in my opinion.”

Oh poor Adam. Goes with the territory.  All of them get dissed by someone.  Adam is no special case.

  • steph6449

Carrie looks good in all those shots, although it’s a little harsh-looking to me the way they have her hair done in some of them.

As far as air-brushing someone’s face though (not saying that Carrie would need it), wouldn’t that mostly be when there are close-up shots and they are trying to hide any little imperfections, lighting problems, or things like that that could be distracting in a full-size high quality marketing photo?

Or to make someone look thinner in the face as well as overall :(

  • Anonymous

This isn’t just airbrushing to “correct flaws” though. This is a technique popular among photographers right now to make photos look more painterly, more like illustration. You see it often in ads.

  • Anonymous

    I didn’t say he was.

  • Anonymous

I def agree that they were going for the painterly look.with it. My only reservation is that they can make a person look too much like a wax figure but whatever.

Carrie looks the same in the before/after shots. I hate her!

Two singles released within a couple of months and neither are doing much on the air or sales, so why would Why Up even think about releasing another.  His album is dead.

  • electric_dog

Airbrushing is not a problem in Lambert’s case, I’d rather not to look at his “true” self.  His problem is the lack of any originality.

  • asifclueless

    WOW !!!
Thank you very much mj for the photo of “Album Artwork From Adam Lambert” posted above.
    Gorgeous !!!   Breathtaking !!!
Adam is a good looking person. He has beautiful features and a stunning profile.
Airbrush or not he is always attractive to me.
They can airbrush my photo all they want, I still look bad ..not much improvement at all..heh.
    I’d better start juicing soon.

Adam’s face because of the uniqueness of his features is becoming recognizable globally.  Paula was correct in her assessment back in 2009.  Iconic?  Maybe not quite yet – but getting there.

ITA. The bangs thing is hit or miss for me no matter who it is but I figure, it’ll be something different in the next photo shoot so I can’t work up a strong opinion about it. I think Carrie’s cuter in this pic in her Preds hoodie at a hockey game: https://p.twimg.com/AjLEXCsCQAEcv7e.jpg

Probably but I’ve seen them brush out little lines, the slight bags under the eyes, and other things that give character if they’re visible even in shots that aren’t tight.

As far as Adam all I have to say is I like his promo pics this era 1000% better than the ones from the FYE era so I hope he keeps that up. His makeup & styling are way more to my taste lately but I’m not getting invested in that because I always expect it to change.

  • dana80

One day later and the photo of Adam is still the main topic. If only some other Idols gave interviews or something, so posters here would have something to discuss.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Salley-Johnson/100003380231108 Salley Johnson

There’s plenty to discuss about the other idols.  It just always turns into an Adam thread.

I don’t think anybody is stopping the discussion about other Idols, right?

Even though I don’t care for any other idols except Adam, I kinda feel sorry for those fans here of idols such Kris, Danny, Cook etc. who don’t have much to talk about.  I feel very lucky to be stanning Adam right now and I also love the new look better.  I think it will go over better with more people than the FYE era where a lot of people probably couldn’t get past the glam to listen to his voice.

    ONCE AGAIN:

The thread is NEVER THE TOPIC. EVER EVER EVER.

Please do not bitch or whine about how your favorite is being treated in the thread, the contents of the thread, the number of posts about an Idol you don’t like in the thread.

DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE THREAD.

And, as always–deleting angry and overly defensive comments.  ETA: Oh…and that includes passive aggressive posts like the one I just deleted.

“Adam’s face because of the uniqueness of his features is becoming recognizable globally.”

And if it is helped with a self-signature fashion would not hurt either I think, for more of his  recognizability. He looks good in that picture, very retro, but Buble has made a name from his musical/fashion retro style. Adam should have stuck with the style he started with, like it or not, he made a clear statement about his artistic/fashion persona and inspirational for many. Do you think people who didn’t like him before would like him now, a sudden love over the 3 years? I’m not so convinced yet, it’s easy to comment over a nice or bad picture, but keeping your fans in the same artistic wavelength they have known you and adding some trendy touches to your overall style, adjusted to today’s musical/fashion trendiness  might not hurt either, just an opinion.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CNA7OAJHY3SZJMD7A7GX45CTJE Funke

I am very sure Adam wants to attract those that are attracted to his ‘true’ self and see him original. So he definitely wouldn’t take it to heart if some don’t see him that way knowing it is not possible for every artist to be universally loved.

His fans love him and wanting his potential fans to love him is what he cares about.

  • Anonymous

I have to disagree with that. Even though Adam pretty much stuck with the “glambert” persona through era 1, era 2 seems to have two sides to it, and we have only seen one. He would dress crazy for stage shows, but he would turn it off for things like daytime TV or when he was out on the town in his down time- unlike someone like Lady Gaga who never turns off her persona.

With his background in theater, and even by his own admission during idol before his performances, he always likes to take on different characters and “play dress up”. I think he is still true to that, and for me anyway, makes him that much more exciting. You never know what you are gonna get with him.

  • ryuryu10

So, who is your favorite American Idol alumni, and what’s original about his/her music and fashion? I’m curious to know your definition of originality.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CNA7OAJHY3SZJMD7A7GX45CTJE Funke

Something tells he is changing up his style because he does not want to be a parody of himself.

I have a feeling the ‘image’ problem is part of what is affecting Gaga this era too. She became too predictable, thus boring and people easily got burned out with her.

  • Anonymous

His problem is the lack of any originality.

Do you mean that he looks like Elvis and sings like Freddy? I’m not sure that kind of “lack of originality” is a bad thing. LOL
Late to the party regarding the airbrush, bottom line is, assume this picture is the cover art, will it help to sell the album? I think it will(unlike the damn awful FYE cover) and that’s the only thing matters. Yea, I’m pragmatic like that….

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WIHKL34XDORTS2UZP4SWUUTG3U randi

    Very recent and very airbrushed.

yes, his skin has been smoothed out but that is what he looks like in real life.  His face shape/structure hasn’t been altered at all if we judge on the pap pictures and his recent appearances on Leno and Ellen.  Adam is a truly handsome man.  Near perfect bone structure.

“He would dress crazy for stage shows, but he would turn it off for
things like daytime TV or when he was out on the town in his down time-
unlike someone like Lady Gaga who never turns off her persona.”

I think too he might keep his image on tour for his fans, I’m not sure about
people who watch more TV, still I’m not convinced he would win over casual fans. Wise business TV-persona? Might the guy in perfect Buble suit, with perfect girly makeup, spiky hair win over people loving music heard today on radio and maybe having in their eyes/minds the images of who are singing the songs?! I’m not sure and really hope he does. Sometime is better to think for/by a long shot in your life than live the moment. There were some talks like 2 years ago about a business like makeup line, he is into fashion pretty deep I think, why not  a future Adam fashion style/ business  for people who like this kind of fashion, music is a temporary, stressful job… And GaGa, Katy Perry, Buble, would never change their styles, it would be career suicide for them.

What I try to say is, Adam is not your everyday kind of artist, the image/voice/music combo might be taken differently by many people than for other artists. Take advantage of a certain style, take risks of it and get your demographic, trying to soften something that is already evident it’s more weird than show it up, trace the final image/musical artist you really are and people would learn it and take it like this.

  • Anonymous

I think Katy will have a new style for her next era, maybe not the Teenage Dream re-release.  But Rihanna’s new era is different, I like the look for Loud better, but whatever.  It’s fine to change looks in Pop.

  • iani

You might be right, Katy might have soon the kind of success Kelly has today. Rihanna right now is the artist of the universe, she knows to do no wrong with her demographic, she has built her musical/artistic style so nicely, softly, effortlessly, she’s just there in a pleasant exposure of anything: sound, voice, image…Heck, even Coldpaly has taken her for a song, not Beyonce, with all friendship between C Martin-Jay-Z families

  • Anonymous

I think it is healthy and necessary to keep reinventing yourself and not get stuck in one narrowly defined image. Madonna has done this to perfection. Gaga is somewhat trapped in her persona right now, and you hear many people saying that they are tired of her.   Since you cannot really attack Adam on singing ability or personality, some people love to hate his looks. He is making this really difficult lately, because he looked spectacular on Ellen and Leno and all the interviews. So now they want him to go back to heavy make-up  so they can have something to make fun of? I don’t think so. The funny thing is that I find less-than-perfect looks very relatable, and perfect looking talentless people very boring.
With Adam, his attraction is all in his talent and attitude.

  • Anonymous

We don’t know for sure that he is getting an Idol performance slot. Other ex-Idols have claimed this in the past, then never get spots. I would guess that he will get a spot, but until it’s officially announced, anything could happen. He could end up getting squeezed out if bigger names decide they want to perform on the show or if other ex-Idols with new music coming out do better in terms of sales/chart performance. Since he’s not with UMG, the label won’t be pushing for an appearance — they’ll be pushing Scotty, Lauren, Haley, Pia…

  • iani

“I think it is healthy and necessary to keep reinventing yourself and not get stuck in one narrowly defined image.”

Hmm, one is “improve” your style and something else “change” your style. Is it something new, interesting, exciting in his new style?  And not to be stuck with the same image, what should we expect for next album to keep it fresh, straw hats or something? All the female artists are in different league, show something to keep their styles fresh, for Adam is not so easy as an artist based only on voice, in a music world where people pay no attention to voices or lyrics. AI-RCA team is on the top of music business with message propaganda songs, see even Adam’s song doesn’t go so far from, Kelly’s song Stronger would be better fitted/doing commercial for “something” else than Toyota. I’m happy DC’s We Believe didn’t go for a single as many fans have wanted, from TOML to music that reminds me of music from my childhood to artificially heal the mood with nice, empty words. At least his career is on freeze now and not to be more damaged.

ETA1: Madonna invented new image(s) for herself, she did not copy her image from somebody else.

And she took the risks at some age (not so young like KP, GaGa) to show her style, liked it or not, inventing or copying styles, she proved something beyond the condition of you’re every day comfort musical style/musician. Music is full of comfort musicians, I’ve hopped maybe too much from AI, maybe The Voice, X Factor will find more unique musicians beyond their great voices, I’m sick and tired of talents youtube/MySpace-discoveries.

ETA2: I represent the minuscule of 0.01% people here who see different than the rest of 99.99% one, so not a big deal, “With Adam, his attraction is all in his talent and attitude” his fans are happy and “safe”, hope he gets many new fans too. Wish him good luck with new album and career, hopefully I see Adam with some Q music soon.

turquoisewaters – I agree with every word of your post. I loved his glittery look during GNT & I love his look now. Perhaps even more. But I also know there will be other looks in the future & I will love them too. Because this is the real Adam, changing looks as he did as a child with costumes & makeup. I love who this man is & what he’s wearing or how he styles his hair doesn’t change that one bit.

I would hope that James is joining these celebs to speak out against bullying and not to promote his album or “bullying” songs (which would be really tacky IMO, unless he recorded a different version with the proceeds going to this charity).

Chiming in extremely late on the Adam photograph (although I’ve been reading the comments with interest), I hope this isn’t the whole image for the cover.  Not because it isn’t handsome.  He looks gorgeous, but I expect more “concept” in an Adam album cover.

FYE was a headshot, but a really strange, fun headshot that made people talk. The picture for BTIKM isn’t much more than a headshot, but he’s wearing an interesting jacket and there’s a bit of graffiti wall behind him, and it looks like something is going on.

This shot is just a basic soulful-eyed shot.  I’m hoping the final image is going to express more of the light/dark concept that Adam keeps talking about for the album.

Bullying is obviously an issue that James feels strongly about.  As far as I’m concerned, he can do whatever helps to communicate how wrong and damaging it is.

If it helps promote his music or career, that’s good for him, but I’m quite sure it won’t be the primary motivation for him.

I wouldn’t worry Montavilla. No way is this photo the album cover art. It appears to be an official promo pic, but the album cover will be released with much fanfare I’m sure, and much closer to the Trespassing release date. You know that Adam is going to make a big deal out of debuting his cover art!

Unfortunately, I agree that an Idol performance slot isn’t a given for Adam this year.  I don’t know how significant the opening montage of previous Idols is, but it does appear that they are placing far more emphasis on last year’s signees, and excluding successful non-winners from previous years.  I would feel more confident of a slot for Adam if he were still being managed by Fuller.

  • Anonymous

Adam got a HUGE bump when he performed WWFM on Idol in S10 so I would love for him to have a slot on the show. He always profits from a live appearance. Having said that,  I wouldn’t be too disappointed if he didn’t get one. I think the show is losing steam & pumping out too many “stars” most of whom never make much of an impact. I lost interest midway through S10.
