Haley Reinhart sang a beautiful National Anthem before the Tigers home opener in Detroit, Michigan today. The Tigers opponents?  The Boston Red Sox! Ya’ll know how I feel about that.

Watch Haley’s Anthem below.

If Haley was nervous, she didn’t seem to show it.  Nice job.

I thought Haley sounded really nervous myself.  It kind felt like she held back on hitting the big notes.  But I like anything Haley does.

Very sweet, soulful and tender version of the National Anthem. I’m was curious as to how she would interpret it and the Country vibe she brought to it is amazing.

A very cool soulful vibe there. I really enjoyed it. Obviously it’s a pretty difficult song to sing, and with more experience I’m sure she’ll add even more “Haley Color” to it.

Yeah I got this feeling too, she was a little more restrained than usual but that’s probably nerves, it’s the NA after all, if you butcher it public you’ll never live that down.

She actually made me enjoy the National Anthem for once.  Just the right amount of country-ish twang IMO. I did not expect her to put too much flava into it as she was pretty respectful of originals during her run on AI.

I love the subtlety on some of the notes, going low rather than high, very nice.

Beautiful. Haley was my favorite last year. I don’t like anyone as much this year.

I am not an American, but I’ve always been fascinated by the melody in this National Anthem. It’s so complex that, IMHO, adding too much to it is not only disrespectful but practically a sin!
So, Haley, thumbs up for keeping it simple and saving everything we know you can do for the many albuns to come!

The vid’s gone, but great that she did well.  Love that pic out in the field – so natural and pretty.

A beautiful, sweet, simple version of our National Anthem.  Whoever said it was required that the song be full of pyrotechnics and vocal gymnastics?  Show-offy singers like to showboat and point to themselves saying “look at what I can do.”  But, really, isn’t it all about respect for the song and love of country?  I adore Haley’s tender version of the song.

Haley showed again that she can sing anything amazingly well.
And she put more feeling into her version than any of the versions I’ve heard.
    Plus she looked beautiful!

Haley did a great job!  She looked and sounded terrific.  I loved the super high note on “free” and her pacing was perfect, ending just before the jets flew overhead.

Finally got to listen to it – it’s a very nice performance.

It’s amazing how it seems that every Idol who does the NA nails it in their own way.    I think it is because just about all of them are such good natural singers…they may not all be one’s cup of tea, but they can definitely all sing.

“every Idol nails it”? Did you see Lauren Alaine singing it? She screwed up the NA LOL

Oh my goodness, it was such a breathtakingly lovely version of the US National Anthem with a sprinkle of Haley flavoring on it. I found too many famous people over sing and belt out the national anthem like they were on vocal steroids. Haley’s version is refreshing soulful and lovely. The way she sang it touched me very much. Great Job indeed.
