I’m inclined not to believe this. Why would some random radio station report this, but not E!, People, Perez Hilton, US Mag, etc.? It just seems kind of fishy that when I ran his name on Google news, the only thing “ring- related” was where he would be ringing in the New Year. I guess we’ll find out eventually!

Supposedly KOST in LA also reported the the same thing but who knows.

My way of thinking is if it’s true, it’s way too soon and that’s way too much money to spend on a ring and I say this as someone who’s been pretty supportive of his relationship with Kim.

I’d actually be surprised if they didn’t end up married eventually, or at least together for a long while. He has that “this is IT” vibe when he talks about her. I can’t explain it, but he reminds me of when I first started dating the hubby. You just know sometimes, this is the one.

But NOW? It is a little soon. I hope he wasn’t planning to propose over christmas, ’cause they just blew it for him.

IF this is true (and I understand what ya’ll are saying about the reliability of radio reports) then I’m happy for him. I wondered if he wouldn’t get serious fast — his brother is sick, and when you go through something like that it sort of makes you want to live right in the now, no matter what else is going on for you.

I think is great, if he is sure go for it Cookie… congrats to them… do you guys think MJ will be the best man, and Archie will sing at their wedding??? Maybe Cookie took to heart the title of KLC album Why Wait?

I love this commercial. I love how Fox used DC to promote AI and AI ratings. I love how Fox considers DC a draw. That is awesome. Thanks MJ. I have yet to see this commercial.

As for ther ring rumours. Would love the radio link. Second and more importantly, Cook likes bling. Did we not see the 5 pounds of necklaces he wore around his neck?? The man had more jewelry on than KLC, Syesha and Carly combined. So how do we know the ring, if indeed he did make such an expenditure, wasn’t for him? I can see him with a big old pinkie ring. A nice right hand ring as an early birthday treat for himself.

Considering how tight-lipped Team Cook was during the Idol season — to the point that even hardcore DC fans would have no spoilers as what song(s) he would be performing until MJ would spill the beans after dress rehearsals on the DAY of the performance (perhaps with the exception of one or two weeks), it would seem really odd if Team Cook somehow let the plan to propose during Christmas get out this far ahead of schedule for something this important, not to mention, private.

You know… It’s Christmas time, maybe he was jut buying a gift to his girlfriend? I find the whole thing a bit weird.
But if it is true…so be it. Good for them.

I don’t think there’s any one certain link because it sounds like something multiple stations connected to each other all talked about. Because now a friend of mine mentioned she heard it from Ryan Seacrest this morning too. I took a look at DCO and it looks like anything to do with this is prohibited from being discussed.

don’t know anything about the rumors, but the reason David wore all that stuff this summer was because they were fan gifts. He hasn’t sported bling like that since the end of the tour. (and it wasn’t expensive stuff). Now all you see is maybe one or two necklaces, and sometimes the wrist bracelet.

However if and when he ever buys someone (anyone) a gift, no matter the reason, I am quite sure HE would not release the cost of the gift, and certainly, it would be no one’s business for whatever he might choose to spend.

I like the commercial, except for the part where someone’s putting makeup on him. Yuck! Makeup is for girls, IMO. (Which is why I’m not a fan of guyliner, either.) However, he looks great, the music is wonderful (obviously–he’s singing it!), and this is good publicity for his album too. Nice!

$57K is an awfully specific number – did he drop the receipt on the sidewalk on his way out of the store? Seems like an awful lot of change for our goober from the midwest to spend on any single piece of jewelry. I find it hard to believe he’s gone so Hollywood so quickly. Isn’t that like at least twice what most average people spend on the whole wedding, never mind just the ring?

I’ll believe any such rumor when DC or a family member confirms it, and not a minute before.

LOL You sound like my 12 year old nephew. I get that lots of people don’t like to think of male celebs wearing makeup — especially the guyliner. Unfortunately, I think it’s pretty much inescapable if you have to appear in front of television cameras. If nothing else, a bit of powder can make sure you don’t look all shiny and greasy on TV.

This commercial gives me chills every single time. As for the engagement. I’ll believe it when it comes from an actual reliable source. And if it’s true… awwww.

The promo is still great. About the rumor, if it is true may I say I’m terribly disappointed in David. Wasn’t his father a jeweler? David, you should know better. Don’t buy retail!

Gotta say about “the ring” rumor… Strikingly similar rumor and price tag — as in, exactly 57K for a Tiffany ring — hit the airwaves about a gift from Barack to Michelle Obama after the election to say “thank you” for her help and understanding during the campaign. That rumor was quickly denied and debunked.

Just saying, second 57K Tiffany ring allegedly bought in a month’s time (by each of the two highest vote getters and most popular dudes of 2008 lol) is a bit too suspect for me. But, hey, if it’s true, good for him, congrats and happiness (and hopefully some element of surprise) to all.

On the way to the Jingle Ball my husband and I were listening to WNCI, the station that sponsored the JB. They said something about DC getting engaged over the holidays when they announced his upcoming interview. They also said anyone near Kimberly Caldwell turn down the radio.

I’m not going to believe anything until I hear it from DC himself. He didn’t say anything in the interview which I watched after the concert on WNCI.

Of course IF (and I do mean a big if here) it is true, I’d be very happy for him!

I think the wording is interesting. Because according to this they make it sound like he hasn’t actually bought the $54,000 ring yet, but has his heart set on it though is contemplating the price. It looks like that’s only an excerpt from the article that’s in this weeks Star. So if you want to get technical, and if you believe the story, maybe he actually hasn’t been to Tiffany’s, maybe the ring isn’t from Tiffany’s, he may have looked at rings on the Tiffany site. I’ll be more certain it’s false when he says more clearly the engagement rumor is not true.

eta: cookcricket I read on the AI board he’s supposed to be on the Dave & Jimmy show in the morning. I could be totally off but would these DJ’s announce false gossip considering DC was with people from their station today/tonight?

His eyes are Amazing! The guyliner only enhances them for stage purposes. Now if he wore it everyday like Dave Navarro (who is dead sexy with make-up lol) I would be concerned! LOL
All performers wear make-up, even David Archuleta, some just are a bit more guttsy and really ramp it up while others prefer it to be more natural. It all depends on the image they are projecting.

Oh MY. That Permanent video is just gut wrenching beyond words. The addition of the electric guitar/drums…it’s kind of symbolic of the anger stage of grief.
