Scene queens become “famous” on Myspace. Pretty much what they do is dress in generally bright-colored, childish clothing (tutus, tiaras, plastic jewelry, etc). A lot of times they try to get in with bands. They take lots of pictures, and usually claim fashion is their life, or something along those lines. Some famous scene queens are Audrey Kitching, Kiki Kannibal, Hanna Beth, and Dakota Rose. They are almost always girls, but there are a few exceptions like Jeffree Star.

Here’s an example of how they dress (this is Audrey Kitching).

Couple years ago was when scene queens were at their height, but they pretty much have fizzled out now. But pretty much the only people who would know about these people are people who are into “scene/emo” music such as fall out boy, panic at the disco, my chemical romance, and whatever other bands people call emo

Most of them are teen girls, and some are college age. Not all scene kids are scene queens, though. I know quite a few, and they aren’t all groupies in crazy clothes A common misconception is that they are emo, but they actually are far from it, and get offended if someone confuses the two. They’ve gone more ‘underground’ in the last few years, but they’re still there.

Yeah I thought scene kids were played out. Metro Station is a big scene band. Some people thought David was Scene when he was first on Idol but he is the furthest thing from scene. He had some of their attributes the uber constructed hair and colored nails but he was too sloppy and did not were any makeup to be considered scene.

This simply is not true. The thread was not poofed. It was combined back into an old thread that still exists there. The photos were sent to the admin by someone who had the password to the photobucket. The photos were mostly likely leaked by Lana herself or a friend. Notice the timing of the release of the photos after the relationship had ended. Lana has a history of dating rockers then spilling deets in revenge after the relationship or whatever had ended.

I do think most of these comments here at MJ’s are tounge and cheek. I don’t see anyone seriously bagging on the poor gal. Sometimes I guess posts don’t come across that way and some take it seriously. I’ve had some of my posts (fanfic thread) taken seriously when I just thought I was being funny.

Too bad about the photo bucket pics. I felt bad for Adam when that happened to him.

I love David Cook and his music. I think he is an amazingly talented, and well-intentioned person. I don’t know why these photos would change people’s opinions about the fact that he is a great person doing wonderful things. I think he is entitled to have a personal life and should be able to have fun, party, and date whomever he chooses. Being hard working and promoting causes he deeply cares about shouldn’t preclude him from going out and having fun. It is strange though, that these photos suddenly appear at this particular time. The person that leaked these photos on the other hand isn’t so well-intentioned. What was the point? Photos like these are shared amongst friends privately, not on Just Jared. Cookie is sophisticated in many ways, but he seems very naive when it comes to things like this. He needs to find himself a good Midwestern girl who isn’t into cameras!

In that little cesspool you will find a 50, yes I said 50 page thread on Kim Caldwell were they are still actively trashing her 6-7 months after she and DC broke up. You will also find many pictures of David photographed with female fans at meet and greets, etc. The pretty ones are singled out and called whores, skanks whatever. If they can find a name to attach to these girls, their myspaces, facebooks, twitters are then stalked. Those threads are full of viscious gossip and just plain made up crap that these women report as facts and then congradulate each other on for providing great scoops. LOL. Yeah, half the fandom is an overstatement for sure, more like a tiny little fraction that visits the web. The vast majority of any artists fans are not trolling on the internet for every morsel of info about them and that includes David’s fans. Three of my coworkers watched Idol, loved DC but didn’t get around to buying his Cd until February for two of them and March for the other one. They have checked out David’s official site occasionally for tour info and whatnot but it’s not a part of their daily existence and they would look at me like I had two heads if I mentioned all the blogs and other Idol forums . The most outlandish and loudest of the crazies will always get attention in the Idol world but in the real world, not so much.

Let me clarify what I meant about damage. The damage is only that David is having to deal with ANY of this, which he shouldn’t, because I agree that the pictures are completely uninteresting and no one outside of fandom cares. But it’s still a hassle for him, which he really DOES NOT need right now with a grueling tour coming up. I don’t think the “real world” cares about these fans. Every artist has nutjobs in their fanbases, not just Idols and not just male Idol. I find David terribly attractive and sexy. I’ve never gone for muscles or six packs, and I hate mindless shallow guys (or people in general). David’s sexy because of his voice, intelligence, eyes, and special blend of humility-and-power. He appears to be sensitive and sensual, an intense combination. I think some of that humility is an act too. I’ve seen flashes of arrogance, confidence, and being-in-control that are pretty darn attractive.

Anyway, as for Lana, I’m going to assume that she’s not the total bimbo people are making her out to be, but she does sound like a gal you should be wary of because of the kiss-and-tell antics. As for David’s taste in women, it is interesting. Maybe he just wants to have some fun and not date seriously yet. When he does settle down (if ever) (that’s not everyone’s goal in life) he would probably choose someone classy like his mother.
But meanwhile he’s young and a rock star, he’s allowed to have fun and not be serious. The life of a traveling band isn’t for everyone, not great for serious relationships. (I almost said “he’s a guy” but that would be unfair to female rock stars who also want to have fun on the road.)

They certainly aren’t the whole story, but tales about overinvested fans do make it into tabloids and such, and that is just one extra hurdle when it comes to getting “cred.” People are pretty affected by the coolness factor in what they’ll listen to, I think, and if somebody is uncool enough to have fans that are this uncool, that will affect some people, I expect.

David C may be the test case here, though, because of course neither Taylor nor Clay made contemporary-enough music to actually make it as any kind of very contemporary artist anyway, where coolness matters.

Seems to me every season someone’s fanbase gets tagged as the new Claymates and then never fully live up to the, err, legend.

The misinformation on this story is astounding . . . . if one were to go back and read DCU . . . . DCU members did not leak these pictures to JJ. A friend and/or friends of this Lana girl or Lana herself, who had the password to her password protected photobucket account, sent the pictures to DCU. DCU posted the pictures and JJ picked it up from there.

On the fan meltdown, I don’t think so at all. The thing is that a version of these pics were seen a few months ago (with her kinda sitting on his lap, him sitting next to Neal and some other guys on a couch) and the spirit of the comments were similar to the ones at the start of this thread (until it got all serious and finger-pointy). Peeps who thought she was just some random fan or friend of the band were saying: Yay, she got her pony! Where’s my pony? And then some intrepid fans looked closely at the picture and decided that David was actually holding hands with Neal, and then Team Neal squeed, and wrote happy ever after stories in their heads about DnN, where random girl was just a beard. And then everyone moved on to some other topic. So far that I know, there was no fan meltdown over it at all — except maybe in these sites were some “banned” people congregate.

I don’t understand the segment that gets insane about it but they’re hardly half the fandom or close to it IMO.

Yes I agree. Some people running and posting on those sites also seem to have an obession. It is just their obession is with the obsessed fan. But it is still an obsession. Sure, there are some folks who’s only goal is to make cash by making fun of people (selling ads on their website and posting offensive stuff to get hits), and to them it’s probably mostly business. Unfortunately, they attract some posters who appear to NEED to ridicule in order to build self worth.

I guess like any group, there is the over invested snarker and then there are those who just like to shoot the odd snark ball over the bow. Sometimes it does seem like the pot calling the kettle black. Making fun of a fan for the way she dresses, her weight, the way she acts at concerts, well, to me, looks the same as an over invested fan making fun of a groupie for the way she dresses, for bleaching her hair and hanging out with Cook after the concert.

But having said that, I do get that some snarkers are not motivated for their own bullying pleasures. I am sure many Cook fans want to nip this kind of behavior in the bud. I understand the frustration these fans must feel when some over invested ones go off the deep in. It gives all idol fans a bad name.

I look at it this way. Not all idol fans are the same and not all snarkers are the same. There are bullies, loons and normal funny folk in both groups. Like I said in an earlier thread, I find this whole world fascinating.

This, my friends, will be my first AI concert. I don’t know what to expect. Maybe afterwards I will understand what all of the hubbub is. Yes, I assume there will be fans waiting outside the buses. Now that you mentioned it, Jake Gyllenhaal’s has a German Shepherd (Atticus I believe) which would be the dream match for Dublin. A little disparity in size but I don’t think the dogs would mind.

He obviously realized he opened up a can of worms when he made his relationship with Kimberly Caldwell so public. He’s not a stupid man, he won’t make the same mistake twice. I’ll be the first to admit I’m a huge fan of his and count myself in the camp that finds him attractive (for the record, I’m a member of Team Kyle, lol), but who he dates is his personal business and its not going to change my opinion of him either way.

Being a nice guy and acting like a normal 26 year-old, red-blooded man aren’t mutually exclusive. I’m a member on both DCO and david-cook but I’ve never even heard of DCU until reading this thread and its apparent that I’m not missing much. This is obviously not a representation of the majority of his fans, just an example of a few bad apples trying ruin the bunch. Its just a shame that the squeaky wheel gets the oil, sometimes.

As long as we’re being honest. I edited a post last night because I didn’t want to go overboard, but now I have no problem saying what went down over there. Those photos were not “just posted” out of the air.

According to the moderator’s own public posts on the board, the photos were not emailed to her. She was given a user name and password to Lana’s account (said she would “never reveal” her source). So yes, access to the account (or that particular album) was leaked, but that doesn’t change the fact that she went in there and got the photos out (can you say unethical?) and then published them.

AND, when contacted by outside sources interested in shopping the pictures out to the media, she actually posted on the board offering to act as a go-between in case the photographer was lurking and wanted to sell.

Access to the photos may have been leaked, but the moderator was absolutely complicit in getting them all over creation.

That was my sister’s first glimpse of… Idol fandom. Ok, this is so embarrassing, but I have a confession to make. I am a member of DCU, and have posted there – generally chasing windmills in defense of David Cook. This thread is the best ever. It’s taken me two days to get through it, and maturin actually made me giggle snort at work this afternoon. Not a good thing to do at my desk.

I’m proud of the fact that I’d never heard of a “scene queen” or that awful website before yesterday.

However, I have been convinced that my obsession with David Cook is over. He is no longer worthy of my time, what with all the lies and deception that have been uncovered in the last 10(!!) pages. MUSTARD! He LIES!

Eh, maybe I’ll still listen to his music, and look at his pretty face, and read everything about him. Maybe.

David, I love you, but you are not the person I thought you were. You were on American Idol and you were so sweet and I just knew that even though you are a 26 year old young man and you seem to be pretty normal that you were SPECIAL and you would never act like normal 26 year old young men do. I thought that you are pure as driven snow. And youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re not? You lied to me. LIED! My heart, it is broken. Your charity work? Your courage in doing that race? Your album, your music? Your patience standing out there after your show in Radford talking to each and every of the 300 people who were waiting for you and hugging everyone there because, as you said (silly boy), that seems to be your M.O.? All ruined. Because you sometimes drink. And you sometimes cuss. And you give people the finger. And you.have.sex.

And now I know that he hangs out with girls who aren’t credible. So it’s my duty as a fan who loves him to make sure that he knows that I am brokenhearted. If I had pictures of him not having sex with other girls, well by golly I’d send those right to MJ, too. I would. Do you hear that, David Cook? Seriously. I think these are the same people who keep advertising DCU in the comments at Idletard. It’s like a delusional housefly waving a big sparkly puffy-paint sign saying “Here I am!” to the big honkin’ spiiiider.

And a special note to the OTT fans David is not your friend or mine, you don’t know him. He does not owe anybody any kind of explanation about his personal life. It has nothing to do with his music. And this thread is proof that most people could care less about stuff like this.

OK seriously. We have posts about who’s top dog? We have posts about spreading cancer? Is this truly what David Cook fandom is about? Come on ladies, think about what you’re saying here.

I sure hope so cuz it all seriously cracked my shit up.

I have to agree with the photos being really boring. I meanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦really boring. Here I thought you were hot David, those lipsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.. and now this, boring photos.
