David Archuleta – Providence RI – VIDEOS

I mentioned in my twitter report that I was surrounded by David Archuleta fans where I was sitting. They were all pretty cool. So were the cook and Jason fans. It was like a party in my section.The last-minute seaters. Everyone was so delighted to be sitting in front row and center, everyone was in a great mood. Fans of all Idols were bonding all over the place! Heh. No, seriously, people were incredibly polite. We didn’t need no freaking security guards keeping order in our section. Good thing, because there weren’t any around!

Hooray that I was able to get some really beautiful close-ups of Archie’s performances tonight. If he was having vocal issues in the past weeks, I thought he sounded in great voice tonight. And like the other Idols, the awesome crowd energized him. Speaking of which, check out the awesome Archie dance!

    His “Angels” is brilliant, “Apologize” is great, love seeing him loosen up in “Stand By Me” & I really like his passion & confidence in the last song. Something takes over him when he’s singing, idk, I feel his heart. He’s one of the few who looks like an artist up there & not a karaoke singer.
    Damn…it’s hard to believe I actually used to mock Archie and find him extremely annoying. He more than grew on me, heh.

    ETA: MJ’s videos are THE best.

    It’s nice to see Archie getting so many new fans. I always felt that way about him and hated the comparisons to Cook (real artist) and Archie (robot). They’re completely different and people can certainly prefer one to another but Archie is a real musician who puts his heart and soul into everything he does.

    I have to say that David was on fire in these videos. Looking back at the season, he has come so far. It is amazing, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. The “leaked” Crush music video is great. Check it out if you haven’t. MJ thanks for taking such great videos!!

    Wow! Nicely put, and oh so true.

    I loved Angels…..I mean I love Robbie Williams doing it, it’s a a great song, but David infuses it with something extra special, to just catapult it to another level entirely. He is a musical soul, and a soulful musician. Thanks for giving us the full ‘enchilada’ Mj!

    I love how DA changes up the songs just a bit with every performance. I think I’ve pretty much seen all of them from the tour and he does a little something different each time. MJ~Did you go to the after party thingy?

    ok, this is sort of random, but has he always changed the lyrics in “Beautiful Girls” from “suicidal” to “in denial”? I think that I have heard him sing suicidal before, but now he’s definitely saying in denial.

    I see that now. In fact, & forgive me for comparing the two, I now see more originality with Archie than I do with Cook. He’s that much more believable as an artist imo. Dadchuleta has lended his advice a number of times but I know almost all of Archie’s arrangements are his own. After watching a good number of interviews with him, I’ve realized he is in fact a bright & eloquent kid – as a result, I no longer find it as hard to believe he himself understands what he’s singing about. He has yet to experience the half of it but I can hear/see he FEELS the music & lyrics. I still prefer Jason’s tone (& pretty much everything) majorly over Archie’s but I am now even able to look past Archie’s breathy vocals that used to aggravate me like hellll, haha. Cook has a great voice, a lot of command and confidence onstage, a fabulous laugh & an awesome personality when he’s not in posey mood but the excitement I felt from him on Idol, has gradually worn off. I was initially totally awed by his song arrangements. I knew a couple of them were heavily inspired by other cover versions but I later realized they were all pretty much replicas – & they don’t surpass the original cover versions, imo. Perhaps Cookie’s upcoming album will win me back over. Though I love rock n’ roll, folk, indie, jazz, reggae etc. & I assume Cook headed towards grunge-rock which I can’t stand lol. Jeeeeeeezus, this has turned into an essay. Bottom line: DA may still peform those ‘robotic’ movement thingies (I guess they reinforce the vocals??) but that boy is far from a robot. Kid’s got soul.

    These are some of the most amazing videos of David during the tour! The close ups during Apologize about knocked me over.

    He was in great voice at this concert. And WYSYLM was breathtaking. It made me cry. He totally owns that song (and my heart) when he sings it.
