David Archuleta – Crush – The Video has Leaked!

Aww, the video was sort of nice in the sort of bland way that vanilla pudding is nice, (although I have to say that the close up screen capped above freaks me out a little. Too much Archie face!)

Archie is much better at “acting” than I thought he would be, for sure. Little cheese even watched the whole thing, but it turned out that she just wanted to see if he would jump in the lake at some point. It wasn’t nearly as cheesy as the “Tattoo” video. Good job, Archie!

Great video. It really enhances the song. Also G-rated which should make the tweens happy. He didn’t even take his shirt off during the lake scene, for gosh sakes.

I like the video, it won ´t win an MVA but is Archie and reflects the song… I like the piano part at the start of the video…

The video is better than I thought it would be. I didn’t like some of the shots of him inside the house and sitting on the sofa, not even sure why. I liked all of the outdoor shots, and i especially liked the ending, very sweet. All in all, a good little first video. Glad the anticipation is over, lol.

I was worried it would be too cheesy, but it escapes by a hair. Pretty cute, maybe too much intense-eye-closing, but redeemed by his adorable smile at the very end. Kid can act though! He seemed pretty natural and believable and I love the bopping on the porch. Is this really the same awkward kid that was on AI just a few months ago? The piano at the end of the pier is my favorite part.

No surprises with the video, exactly what one would expect “Pure Archuleta”. I think most of his fans will be pleased but I don’t believe it will gain new fans.

The video lets David be David–I like that. I worried it would try to force him to act in a way that his fans know doesn’t fit who he is. It is natural, sweet, young, and, well, classy (borrowed that from Rascal). He is more comfortable in front of the camera than I expected, too. Great job. And the interaction between the two of them at the end is perfect and believable. That moment captures something else I’ve always liked about Archie–the unexpected glance. Yes, he is sweet and innocent, but every now and then if you watch closely, you can see he knows just a wee bit more than he is letting on. I think his fans will be pleased. Well, based on what I’ve been hearing from my friends, I know they are.

The piano at the beginning was great because one, it showed that he is an “artist” and two, it took away some of the cheese because I was afraid of an Archie shot where he was really hanging up a phone! *whew* disaster averted!

Archie looked very natural acting and the video was just beautiful and fit the song! I’m a total fangirl now!

The only ones i could read said CarrotTop and Bruce Lee. They were playing a game and had to guess what was on their card, i’m guessing??

It will be very interesting to see how people outside of Idol react to this video. Compare it to say the Jesse McCartney video. Yowzer! Could the two videos be any more opposite each other? LOL

Obviously JM’s “Butterfly” didn’t corrupt Archie which is sure to have given his fans a huge sigh of relief.

I like Archie’s video. Played it twice. I like when the story in a video fits the words of the song. Well done. From the little looks the girl gave to him when he wasn’t looking, it appears that his crush may have a crush on him too. Cute.

I think David needs to “grow up” soon if he’s going to have long-term success in this business. I don’t mean that in an insulting way. But, right now he’s obviously targeting his appeal at a demo younger than his age group. Kids/ young adults his age are far more worldly and less innocent than he is.

Aww, Archie. Not a fan of the musical style, but he makes me grin every time.

What mutant elder teenagers did they find to staff this video with, though? Watching him with those other boys, I felt a low-grade terror that they were about to pants him and stuff him in a locker.

Then I realized that I was subconsciously waiting for Cook to show up and protect him, and I realized I might have mental problems.

I love this video because it is so perfectly David. And the song is about a teenage crush–it’s supposed to be sweet and innocent–you just have to listen to the lyrics to know that he’s not going the way of Jesse McCartney’s “Leavin’” video (yikes). With a debut artist’s budget and a day to shoot, I think this is one of the better first videos I’ve ever seen, and certainly one of the best Idol first videos. Love that they have him playing the piano (great shot in the beginning… actually that whole end of the pier thing is great) and the guitar (please, David, play that sometime live because we know you can).

The teens will swoon and most everybody else won’t help but smiling when they watch. I actually think it will gain him some new fans–he’s freakin’ adorable in the video.

BTW, most of the “kids” in the video were over 18, save two of the girls–one being 16 and the “crush” being 15. The rest were age 18-21 I believe. And yeah, a couple of the guys looked a little too old to be 17, but I don’t think it really makes too much of a difference in the video. Apparently, David serenaded the cast (w/guitar in hand) the whole day (both during the shoot when he had to sing “Crush” over the track, and in between takes). Can’t wait to hear David sing “Crush” live… and acoustically.

Aww. It’s corny but not half as cheesy as I expected. Loved the opening piano scene, not so keen on the closeups. Not so keen on the short, pointy hair either. He’s actually a decent actor and no doubt totally adorable. You really don’t see 17 year olds with Archie’s innocence & I think that’s a huge part of his appeal. He will mature – musically and as a person in due time. It should be a natural progression.

I thought the video was just perfect for the song! It’s something I wouldn’t mind watching over and over again. Oh, to be young again . . . I could actually feel butterflies in my tummy when they were giving each other those glances. Haha!!! I was smiling the entire time. : )

I wish they’d let Archie’s hair grow out a little. Otherwise, a very cute video!

I was listening to last night’s cellcast of the concert as always and Rickey had the vid up on the screen but had it muted because of the show. I liked what I saw even though I couldn’t hear it. Once intermission started, I got a chance to watch the video with the sound and I still liked it. Yes, it may seem a little cheesy to some, but I like what Jive did with Archie’s video. The storyline actually made sense with what the song was about and like some, I’m glad Archie was not portrayed as a sex symbol but as a normal teenager with a crush.

Absolutely perfect video for this song. Jive got it right on the money! Totally exceeded my expectations! Sweet, innocent, lovable, cute as Archie is! The piano by the waterà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ the soft lightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ and the smile at the end is way better than a kissing scene! They managed to show so many sides of him. Awwwwwww, that was cute. Archie’s so squishadorable. I do feel 17 again listening to Crush. Similar to listening to Jordin’s music. Crush is less sugary than Tattoo imo. And I like how they put him w/the piano and guitar.

I dont know what this says about me but he got a new fan with this song and video. I was a Castro/Cook ftw but I thought this was just perfect for him to get past the older ballads he seemed to love to sing over and over. It is young and fresh and sweet. Catchy tune that I bet will make it to #1. I too was wondering if he could pull off the acting but he worked it, shy, kinda bashful, it was effortless and you didnt see him “acting” just being himself it seemed.
