Dancing With The Stars – Week 8 – VIDEO

Melissa is out tonight with an injury! Oh Noes! She’s got a rib injury–a hairline fracture. We get a look at her week in training with Tony. The judges are going to base their votes on their last rehearsal this moring.

Tonight, it’s Team Mambo vs. Team Tango!

Tomorrow, Robin Thicke performs.

The couples and group dance combine to create each couples’ score. Lil Kim and Derek are at the top of the leader board with 56. Melissa and Tony are at the bottom with 46. Melissa’s low score was due to the judges scoring an earlier rehearsal–a rib fracture kept her from dancing tonight. Lacy Schwimmer took her place in the group dance.

Despite Len telling Ty he did enough to stay another week–they had the second lowest score–I think Ty and Chelsie will be going home this week. The low scorers, Melissa and Tony are going to get a boat-load of pity votes.

Gilles and Cheryl – Lindy Hop – Gilles had some trouble with his shoulder. He needed a cortisone shot in order to continue on in the competition. Gilles proves tonight he can do the fast dances, as well as the slower, sexy numbers. Len likes! Bruno says, “You are a great dancer…I like to point out your versatility and your sense of comedy.” Carrie Ann says, “You don’t need to worry about the audience voting for you, it was great.” – Carrie Ann – 9, Bruno – 9, Len – 9 – 27 – 55 1-800-868-3405

Lil Kim and Derek – Paso Doble – Kim loves the rhythm dances cause she loves to moves her hips, but she can’t in the Paso. So sad. Woah that was pretty awesome. Kudos to Derek for his choreography. Bruno says, “The bitch is back…it was a classic classy paso!” Carrie Ann says, “It shows us how dramatic and passionate your are…it’s also showing us how far you’ve grown.” Len says, “You’ve come out with fire and passion..I was expecting oh no, and I got Ole.” – Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 28 – 56 – 1-800-868-3401.

Chuck and Julianne – Cha cha cha – Chuck and Julianne get playful for the cha cha cha. Carrie says “Chuck you are definitely in the game..watch that chin.” Len says, “This is turning into a fantastic competition…great hips, work on your arms.” Bruno says, “Great bum action…your arms were too wooden and thrown away for the cha cha.” Chuck needs to get that look of constipation off his face. He was OK, maybe a tad overrated by the judges. Carrie Ann – 9 Len – 9, Bruno – 8 – 26 – 51 – 1-800-868 -3406

Shawn and Mark – Samba – She looks a little stiff here. Sometimes Shawn is all technique without showmanship or flair. Len says, “At this stage of the competition, good isn’t good enough–not enough hip action. It was ok,” Bruno says, “You did a good Samba…you’re not a wild child…you’ll grow into it.” Carrie Ann says, “I saw solid technique, that’s what I’m looking for.” Carrie Ann – 10 – Len – 8, Bruno 9 – 27 – 52 – 1-800-868-3409

Melissa and Tony – Jive – Melissa can’t dance this week due to a rib injury. We get to see her week of rehearsing the Jive with Tony. She hurt her ribs doing a difficult move last week, then she felt a blinding pain this week. The doctor said she suffered a hairline fracture. The judges are judging their rehearsal with the band this morning before her rib pain got worse. Too bad, because the performance was diminished. The judges feel bad, but they explain they are forced to judge the performance as is. Eh, they’ll get a bunch of pity votes. They’ll be fine. Ty and Chelsie – Salsa – The Salsa is all about hip action. I have a feeling Ty is going home this week. Oooh, Dmitry stops by to teach Ty some sexy moves. Sure, it’s a lost cause, but Yay! It’s Dmitry! Ty gets a spray tan. Didn’t need to see that exactly.- Carrie Ann says, “I loved it! You are the most inconsistent dancer…I never know what to expect.” Len says, “You’ve had the wildest of the rides…you’ve done really well.” But, Len still thinks it time for him to “hit the trail.” Bruno says, “Maybe it was the spray tan, but you just went wild…it wasn’t a perfect salsa…but brave.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 24 – 52 – 1-800-868-3408

Team Mambo – Shawn and Mark – Lacy (stepping in for Melissa) and Tony – Chuck and Julianne – There’s a lot of crazy undressing in this routine. Don’t need to see the guys in tights and a body suit! Lolz. Len says, “It was fun, entertaining, tight.” Bruno says, “Something definitely stood out tonight..” Bruno liked the fishnets. Carrie Ann thought the guys strip tease was a little distracting. She though the music was more fun than the actual routine. Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, Bruno – 9 – 25

Team Tango – Ty and Chelsie – LIl Kim and Derek – Gilles and Cheryl – Bruno says, “Powerful, Naughty…the end sequence gave me goosebumps.” Carrie Ann says, “Team Tango takes it!” Len says, “Ty, you nailed it!” He criticized Lil Kim for a blunder, and Gilles for lousy footwork.     Dont mean to laugh so much at Ty, but he just makes me smile from ear to ear. Go Tyyyyyyy!!! But dont want to loose Melissa for him tho. Ug, this is tough.

    Poor Tony! I’ll vote for you – I promise (you and Melissa). It sucks too, because Jive is one of my favorite dances to watch Tony do. And, from rehearsal, it looked like a really fun dance. I’m sure Melissa would have done really well with it.

    I thoroughly enjoyed the team competition! Working together like that does help make the celebrities get closer. Did you see the closeness between Chelsie and Lil. I was so surprised. In the beginning I didn’t like her much or her reputation, but she has turned out to be a very nice gal.

    I thought the final three would be Gilles, Melissa, and Lil Kim. I wonder if anything will change this?

    Melissa being injured hurt the team votes because she’s such a strong dancer and they couldn’t count Tony & Lacy’s part however the other team deserved to win. It was really well done.

    Melissa is such a strong dancer. I just don’t know how she is going to make it all the way through the competittion with her injuries. Tony would have to tune down their performances. Too bad because it is a pleasure to watch her and Tony dance.

    I think they scored Ty too high and consequently Chuck & Juliann or Melissa & Tony will be leaving us tomorrow. And, I think both Chuck and Melissa deserve to be there longer. From Ty’s after performance interview, it sound as if Ty also feels it may be his time to go (he’s getting in over his head).

    I enjoyed team Mambo more; I felt Team Tango had too many mistakes, especially since Giles and Lil Kim are so strong in the Latin dances.

    i’m putting my points on melissa. i just don’t think she can keep dancing with an injury like that. she doesn’t have the time to rest her body. too bad. i really like her.

    So disappointed for Tony & Melissa. For me, part of the fun of having Melissa on the show is that Tony finally has a decent partner. He’s had a rough time of it for the past few seasons. I really hope she’ll be back and dancing next week. Don’t think she’ll be going anywhere this week. They’ve got my votes! Even Steve-O wasn’t voted off the week after he was scored from the rehearsal and I think they got a 14 from the judges.

    I thought Ty’s salsa was so much fun to watch. He truly has put everything into this process and it has been fun to watch him improve. I think he might be going home though I would prefer if it was Chuck that went.

    Team Mambo’s spoof was a riot! The whole show was really fun to watch last night except for Melissa being hurt.

    I have to say Ty really brought it with his salsa. (And…ummm…nice abs that cowboy has.) But Len is right. Ty should go either this week or next week. I think Chuck is probably a hair better dancer than Ty, but I enjoy watching Ty a lot more than I do Chuck.

    I was so bummed for Melissa, though she did look cute dancing in her jeans and black crop top. But you could tell in that video she was dancing halfway. It was very much a rehearsal.

    Lil did awesome; I’m a sucker for the paso. I thought Gilles did well, but I am not a huge fan of the Lindy, so I didn’t really get into their dance itself. I liked Shawn too, however, I really think a different partner would make her look better. Mark is so freakin’ showy (his facial expressions make me wanna cut him) that I think in comparison, Shawn comes off wooden.

    Totally agree. Although, in reality, I’m not sure Melissa can get past the Giles juggernaught even in perfect health. Certainly not if he keeps taking off his shirt.

    Just a side note from Tony and Melissa’s footage: Melissa has an absolutely rockin’ bod. And, I am 100% completely envious of it.

    Lacey did an amazing job stepping in for Melissa at the last minute. She looked like she was having so much fun dancing with Tony.

    I didn’t really get the 8′s for Team Mambo. I didn’t see any obvious mistakes like I did in Team Tango’s performance, yet they got better scores (including a 10…what??). I thought Team Mambo was sooooo much fun!!

    Re: Melissa. BOOOOOO!!!! I used all of my phone and internet votes for her. She may get a sympathy vote…but she certainly deserves it. She is, at minimum, the 2nd best dancer in the competition (some would argue that Gilles is better) and TOTALLY deserves to stay. If she’d gotten to perform that dance for real, she certainly would have scored higher than 7s. Here’s to hoping she can get through this week and come back better than ever next week!!

    Len’s remark about Ty caused my wife to vote for him for the first time this year so there could be a backlash that saves him. The same for Melissa which could spell bad news for Chuck.

    ohiobofan, you make a good point. I really think Ty’s the weakest dancer but, holy cow, he did great last night. I was shocked!

    I still have all my points on Ty but I may switch all or some of them to Chuck. No matter how logical it may be, I will not put points on Melissa and Tony. Poor Tony! I felt so badly for him, he looked devastated.

    MJ, Ty was in third places with Shawn with 52 points. Chuck in fifth place with 50 points. And Melissa in the last with 46 points.

    I just can’t get into this show. I tried to watch *again* last night. I can’t be interested in it at all. Can’t wait for SYTYCD however so it’s not the dance thing…maybe I don’t care that much about “stars”.
