Based on the intro Little Big Town taped on opening night of CMA Fest’s LP Field performances, Carrie will open the show with her cover of the country classic (lolz) Paradise City, which we have video of here. Of course, that assumes that Guns N Roses cleared the song for TV airing, which they’ve been notoriously averse to giving anybody. You would think the ABC people would’ve gotten clearance beforehand, but you never know. You can also expect Carrie’s performance of See You Again to be included in the broadcast. Maybe also the Carrie/Brad Remind Me duet, but I’m not sure.

If the Paradise City performance opens the show as intended, it’s because it’s supposed to represent the “Country’s Night To Rock” idea but also because this is lining up to be the most crossover oriented CMA Fest TV special yet. If Jason Mraz is performing that means they’re airing his duet with Hunter Hayes on Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me. I don’t know how much airtime Lenny Kravitz will get after his full solo set went over like a lead balloon live, but they’ll surely show his American Woman duet with Jason Aldean. They’ll no doubt air Kelly’s Tie It Up and maybe one other song (her duet with Jason on Don’t You Wanna Stay? or maybe something else – she also performed a couple pop hits so it’s not out of the realm of possibility they’ll air What Doesn’t Kill You or Catch My Breath). Then there’s Taylor.

I’m excited Kellie’ll be appearing. I’m hoping they’ll air her performance of Someone Somewhere Tonight from The Stage (a small venue). They’re definitely showing some non-LP Field performances because Kacey Musgraves, Jason Aldean, and Darius Rucker all taped performances at The Stage before CMA Fest for the ABC special, so hopefully a Kellie performance will air too. They’ll presumably at least show Kellie doing something with Derek Hough, too.

Lennon & Maisy performed Ho Hey at LP Field, so I’m guessing ABC’ll air that performance. Not sure what they’ll show of Chip Esten’s.

Chip isnt the best singer but I love to hear him sing. Ive downloaded severa l of his songs. My fav is Papa writes to Johnny. Love the lyrics. Its like Chip tells a story when he sings.

ITA, he’s a really underutilized musical asset on Nashville. I really like him as an interpreter/storyteller.
