Clay Aiken and Arsenio Hall Talk Celebrity Apprentice Finale

Clay Aiken and Arsenio Hall will be mounting separate charity events on Sunday’s Celebrity Apprentice finale. Both men want to win, but it has not kept them from remaining friendly competitors. Kinda similar to Clay and his Season 2 competitor, Ruben Studdard on American Idol, no?

We’ll see if Clay can finally win a reality competition when the results are announced live on Sunday at 9 pm on NBC.

Watch Clay and Arsenio talk about their friendship on this morning’s Today show.

aww, bromance. I’m so glad it’s them as the final two.

  • Anonymous

Me too.  I like them both, so I plan on watching the finale.

I thought Clay had it in the bag until last Sundays episode.  Didnt seem enough emphasis on money raising and he is alienating his team.  I thought Arsenio would be too laid back in his approach but it seemed to be working.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that the amount of money raised is only one factor in being “hired” by Trump. I also think that the editing of the shows and previews can be misleading (on purpose), so it’s hard to tell what’s happening/going to happen (on the show). After Trump kind of told Clay harshly that his “leading by consensus” style of managing during the cologne task was BS, I think that Clay wanted to show Trump that he could be a strong, decisive leader, and that’s why he appeared firm, micromanaging and sometimes confrontational with his team on the last show. In this extended preview of the finale,

Arsenio comes off as a weak leader, kind of asking Adam’s permission to have something his way, which came across as pretty wimpy.

I’ve heard a rumor that Trump has invested in Magic Johnson’s new television network, and so Arsenio’s appearance on the show is working towards reintroducing him to the public before he launches his own talk show on Magic’s network. So there’s a conspiracy theory out there that this is why Trump has been so supportive of Arsenio and will make him the Celebrity Apprentice (because it’s hard to reason why else Arsenio would even be in the finale lol ).

One thing for sure. There’s no predicting what Trump will decide because, as Penn said, there are no rules for the Celebrity Apprentice and Trump will do whatever he wants.  Looking forward to this weekend’s finale.

I haven’t been watching buy I’ve been following the recaps here.  I’ve known for a while that it was going to come down to Arsenio and Clay, those claymates are industrious ninjas!  I think that since Clay always talks about always coming in second, that history will be rewritten, and he will finally prevail.  Personally I am a big Arsenio Hall fan, and his charity is near to my heart so, I’d like him to win.

  • Allison

So there’s a progression from Arsenio to Magic to Trump, eh? And here I was thinking maybe all the recent the political media appearances (re gay marriage referendums) would give Clay the edge, since Trump loves any connection to the political sphere.
Or it could come down to who threw the better party?
Both are cute together in the Today video.

  • Penny Burke

Clay should win but who knows what Trump has in mind. I hope it isn’t deja vu all over again.

  • Kelly Weed

What a great interview, I especially liked Arsenio “attacking” Clay LOL!!! Hoping for Clay to win, but won’t be surprised if it’s Arsenio – Trump’s been pushing him the entire season.  Whatever the outcome, Sunday should be fun!

  • Cookie Dunker

I really hope Clay wins this one for the National Inclusion Project. They have been so proactive with their programs. The publicity from Clay’s appearance has been  great for NIP, but they could use the money for so many things. Besides that, I want Clay to win!!!

  • fuzzywuzzy

“And here I was thinking maybe all the recent the political media
appearances (re gay marriage referendums) would give Clay the edge,
since Trump loves any connection to the political sphere.”

I doubt that Clay publicly calling Romney’s response to the alleged high school bullying incident “half-assed” and making other negative comments would endear him to Trump. lol  Especially considering that Trump bashed Cher on twitter (and threw in a bash at Rosie), after she tweeted some negative comments about Romney, covered in this interview:

    May 15, 2012

Trump: Cher Is ‘Somewhat of a Loser … Lonely, Unhappy’

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: All right, you’re back in a war on
Twitter. You’re going after Cher and also your old nemesis, Rosie
    O’Donnell. What’s up?

DONALD TRUMP: Well, no, Cher said some very unflattering and nasty
things about Governor Romney, and I think it was inappropriate, what she
said, frankly. And you know, I’ve watched her over the years. I knew
her a little bit. And you know, she reminds me of Rosie with slightly
more talent, not much more talent, but slightly more talent.

VAN SUSTEREN: Well, Cher said something wicked. She says if Romney
gets elected — this is on Twitter — “I don’t know if I can breathe the
same air as him and his right-wing, racist, homophobic, women-hating
teabagger masters,” to which you responded — I mean, you — that she’s
    — that Cher is an average talent who’s out of touch with reality. But
then you threw in Rosie. I mean, You resurrected Rosie into the fight by
calling her a total loser. She wasn’t even in this fight with you.

TRUMP: Well, I likened her to Rosie as a loser. But I — you know, I
understand Cher and Cher is somewhat of a loser. She’s lonely. She’s
unhappy. She’s very miserable. And her sound-enhanced and
computer-enhanced music doesn’t do it for me, believe me.?

    Donald holds grudges bigtime.

ETA: Here’s Donald’s tweet to Cher:

    Donald J. Trump ?@realDonaldTrump
.@Cher attacked @MittRomney. She is an average talent who is out of touch with reality. Like @Rosie O’Donnell, a total loser!

I was wondering if Adam Carolla would comment on the last show and he has on this podcast:

As the show opens up, Adam talks about an edited clip on Celebrity
Apprentice where members of the ACS crew were made to look like idiots.
Adam also rants about not being able to use a ‘sound-alike’ clip for a
    portion of the show.

*Warning*: Lots, and lots of profanity. lol

He talks about how his video team was made to looks bad in the screw up of the Magic Johnson video and spoils what really happened. I really like Adam. lol

Thanks for posting that preview, Fuzzywuzzy.  I’m looking forward to seeing how the parties come together.  Poor Clay, though. It looks like he didn’t even have a minute to put on a tie or comb his hair!

If the rumors are true, that’ll probably be a good thing for Clay as well.  If he and Arsenio are good friends, he should be invited to sing on the show periodically, which would raise his profile.

  • Trina

I read on a Clay board that Aubrey evidently hinted in an interview during her media rounds that Clay raised more money at the events. Who knows if shes ass talking though.

  • fuzzywuzzy

At this point, Aubrey despises Arsenio so much that I wouldn’t believe anything that she says about the finale. She may be right, but I find her totally not credible.

  • Anonymous

I am watching the finale and hoping that Clay wins.

  • stargazed

Last week’s episode looked stressful so I’m looking forward to the conclusion.  Arsenio nixed a Roast for his event but I just saw a clip where Lisa was roasting Trump and Clay.  In the Ultimate promo, it also looked like a roast.  Did Arsenio lose control of his team?

I would think that Clay with his chosen singers would put on a more entertaining show than the insult “comedy” Arsenio’s team is doing.

My money’s on Clay.  But, then, you have Trump in the mix and he could give the title to Gotti.  He’ll do whatever he wants, I just hope he makes me happy at the end of the day.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“I just saw a clip where Lisa was roasting Trump and Clay”

Would you please post a link for that?

    ETA: Nevermind, I found it:

  • Michelle Francis

Loved the clip of them on The Today Show, they are so funny together.

And, yuck, ugh, boo-hiss on Lamanelli’s roast.  I don’t find her humor funny at all.  Too bad that his team completely overlooked that Arsenio did NOT want a roast; to me that makes him a pretty ineffective leader on this final task.

In fact I’ve wondered why he made it as far as he did because I thought he was lax all through the show; but now reading about the Magic Johnson/Donald Trump connection, etc., it all begins to make sense.

I hope Clay can reconcile himself to being 2nd place again if Trump follows through on his Arsenio love.  I like Arsenio, but I defintely think Clay is the stronger player of the two and deserves the win.

Sunday shall be interesting for sure.

  • fuzzywuzzy

For those who have watched the show before, is it only the former contestants who participated in the final task who are going to be at the live finale, or are others (like Lou and Dayana) also going to be there and be interviewed?

  • Penny Burke

At the Trump Tower satellite media event. OMG they are so cute!

  • Penny Burke

They are all asked back and sit on bleachers to the side of the stage. The other side has the boardroom table with Trump, Trumplings and the final 2.

  • Anonymous

Last year, all the contestants came back. Big fight erupted between Star Jones and NeNe. I can only imagine what would happen between Dayana and Lisa.

I’m waiting for Adam Carrolla to speak his mind. LOL

  • fuzzywuzzy

“Big fight erupted between Star Jones and NeNe.”

This happened live? lol  It sounds like an episode of Jerry Springer!

“I can only imagine what would happen between Dayana and Lisa.

I’m waiting for Adam Carrolla to speak his mind. LOL”

I would LOVE to hear Adam say something about being screwed over n the Buick challenge.  I’m really hoping that he will and the censors will be caught off guard and not “bleep” him in time. lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

Whoever did Clay’s makeup did a horrible job.

  • Anonymous

It was verbal. But it was so awful. Trump kept quiet throughout. Good for ratings, I guess. LOL.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Did the censors have to do a lot of “bleeping”? lol  Now, I’m thinking of watching last season.

  • Anonymous

I don’t remember. But it did get ugly. NeNe went off.

Last season was fantastic. Lots of drama. Meatloaf, NeNe, LaToya Jackson, and Gary Busey brought in lots of LOL moments.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I remember seeing the promo with Meatloaf screaming at Gary Busey. lol  It sounds like last season was memorable mainly for the crazy people and not the winners. I can understand why the ratings have fallen off so much this year.

  • Miz

I’d like Arsenio to win just because I like him … and because I cannot stand Aubrey Oday and her narcissism. Of course, I can’t stand Lisa either but she’s the lesser of the two evils.

Thanks to those who brought the various links. Interesting stuff. I’m looking forward to how it all plays out. We all know reality shows are edited to slant things, but this is one of the worst.

Two things that I was surprised that weren’t edited happened on last week’s show and really bother me.

Lisa said that she won $100,000 for her charity and after she takes her cut, that’s a lot of money.

Then when Marly and John were talking to Trump, Marly said that from being on the show her charity raised $7 million. Trump immediately said, ‘Where is my 25%?’ There was nothing joking about it in his face.

I figured that the celebrities on this show were being compensated. It does not sit well with me that money people think is going to the charities really isn’t.

  • Penny Burke

” It does not sit well with me that money people think is going to the charities really isn’t. ”

Those were jokes. None of the money goes to the celebrities personally.

  • Miz

Are you certain of that? They were both said in a serious way in with other serious conversation.
