CJ Harris auditioned on the Tuscaloosa, Alabama stop of the American Idol bus tour and was one of the two singers that borrowed fellow Top 31 contestant, Dexter Roberts’,Gibson guitar. You can read all about that HERE.

CJ is an African American with a love for country music.  Covers, uploaded to his YouTube channel, include songs by Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, Hunter Hays, Darius Rucker and Keith Urban. It was fun. I hope he will stay. I remember in the first season of the XFUS L.A.Reed cut black guy just because he sang country.
But I’m sure that Interscope will try to ensure that this guy not win the show this season. Just because they clearly showed that no longer want to sign a country musicians.

“…make no mistake, as his original songs reveal, CJ is a country boy.”

Then that’s another contestant outside my interests – the Country fans can comment on vocals, style and possibilities. Are we sure Idol doesn’t want another Country winner?

  • Anny_nanny

Most Idol wants to brag about ratings during the season and numbers of sales after. I’m not sure that Nashville is ready to yet another singer from singing show, and UMG does not want to worry about this – Kree is the proof.

  • Sue tiedemann

I kind of like this guy!

  • macfae

I’d say Nashville is likely not interested in another *female* country artist….and you’re right, Kree is the proof. .

  • vd88

He has a pretty good voice, interested to see how he’ll do.

  • Blirel

I like his voice he is pretty good but nothing special.

  • Scott

I like him too…especially on his originals where he was being himself…remember the first winner of the voice? He reminds me of Javier Colon…and I think he is a singer/songwriter…folky, not country…

  • gem2477

    He’s great.

  • Kariann Hart

So much depends on personality, and even looks when you have similar voices.
