I’m so excited for ANOTHER duet with Haley! I love it!

Those two make awesome music together. Damn I miss Season 10 sometimes :P.

Sometimes?  I was thinking about S10 the last TWO WEEKS…. S11 Top 3 & 4 were so ‘dullsville’ for me …..
I wonder if we’ll ever get to hear the project Casey and Haley worked together on for her album…?

Casey was my 2nd-fave right behind Haley, and I bought many of his idol songs. Looking forward to this plus my Haley CD is in the mail.

Yeah–I def agree. When I heard Get Out which was posted on sound cloud or something for a few hours–I thought the arrangement was very Un-Casey. Much too poppy/slick. I don’t know what happened–but not very long after it disappeared, Casey posted an acoustic version of the song on you tube. You almost wouldn’t even know that they were the same song. I left Casey a message (as did others) that the acoustic version was so much better–LOL! Maybe they fixed it!

Maybe that was Randy Jackson who produced the Get Out Track–HA!. Back off Randy!

#Caley <3 I love the fact he has stayed true to himself from his audition all the way to his first professional debut. This cat is incredible and shows that a WGWWDMS(White Guy With Whole Damn Music Store) can make some killer music

True. Season 10 is honestly my favorite season that I watched. Of all seasons from 7-11, 10 is definitely the best for me.

I absolutely love the vibe of the music of Simple Life. This version sounds much more hip than the one posted a couple weeks ago. I just wished the lyrics were revamped and didn’t remind me so much of that silly Rebecca Black song “Friday”. Can’t get past those lyrics at all. The music is so cool, tho. sigh.

But, I can’t wait to hear more music from Casey. Would pay to see him perform anywhere.

Season 10 was absolutely my fave season too.. It’s true that I did love Casey & Haley and so was very invested. But, I just liked the top 12 as a group. There seemed to be a genuine comradery between them. There were some offbeat and quirky personalities that were entertaining. And everything seemed organic–the Caley friendship and duets–the friendship between the guys etc. This season it almost seems forced or planned by TPTB,

Also, the performances had more variety. For instance, Casey might sing jazz, or blues or rock or pop. It was always different–even if it didn’t quite work. Haley- versatile performances ranging from country, jazz, blues rock. (I mean, she had the best country vocal of the season with Blue) Really only maybe Scotty and Pia stayed in the same lane.

This season–they all do the same thing for almost every performance (except Elise) Too predictable and boring. Not saying that they are not good singers–but they don’t make for the most entertaining tv.

Season 10 was one of the best seasons for me as well. I started watching from season 3 and for me seasons 7, 8, and 10 were the best.
Sadly season 11 makes season 9 seem pretty good. =(

    It’s the same for me S10 >>>>> S11.

I’ve only been watching since S10, but have 10 years of “experience” watching European casting shows.

S10 was for me the right mix of talent, diversity and personality. There has been only one other group of contestants from an Austrian show 4-5 years ago, that I liked as much. Come to think of, it has been the same constellation: I had a firm favourite after a couple of rounds, but liked everybody one way or another.

Casey e.g. for me, has been miss (Nirvana, anyone? LOL) and hit (just adored and still do “Nature Boy”, or “Moanin’” with Haley), but even when he was “off” IMO, I never doubted his musicality and talent.

It’s not that I doubt Jessica’s or Joshua’s talent, but somehow, I just don’t care.

And S10 just MADE me CARE (against my will in the beginning as I didn’t want to become involved in any talent show alumn anymore, but I admit complete defeat, LOL), I was sad when they left the show, whether they’d been my favourites or not, checked out their interviews and tour videos, cheered for everybody who got a record deal, a.s.o.

”My only concern is there isn’t a lot of call on radio for Haley’s sexy,
jazzy song and I don’t see the radio playing  this catchy little ditty
of Casey’s either. But maybe these two don’t need radio to carve out a
very nice niche of their own. I see both of these peeps doing music as a
career for a long, long time.”

Isn’t it a pity that one of the things we say most around here is — “Wow, I really like this. Don’t see it getting played on the radio, though.”

There’s something wrong with a system in which music that’s enjoyable right off the bat to not five people but at least hundreds maybe thousands of people won’t get played on the main music medium (well, it has been, anyway) anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

Oh, there is an accoutic version of it? *goes to look for it*

Oh yes, definitely much, much better (still prefer the vibe of “Simple Life” though); the Soundcloud (studio?) production was way too overproduced and sounded similar to Stefanos song (this is not meant as a diss towards Fano, just that I think it is a total misfit for Casey). I didn’t know though that they made it “disappear”, LOL. There is still some hope then, I guess…

WGWWDMS = YES! Awesome acronym there.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“Simple Life” reminds me of Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” (complete with scatting) and since Mraz is popular on CHR, then this song could grab some of that audience. I’m not a fan of Casey’s, but there’s no question that he (or almost anyone other Idol) should have been on Idol rather than Lisa Marie. Then again, if David Cook weren’t managed by Fuller I doubt that he would have been on the show either, so I guess that it evens out. Still don’t like it though, as Casey A. could use the promotion. Even moreso, Casey James should have performed sometime this season rather than Lisa Marie, IMO.

ITA. But as true blue CJ fan, I’ve moved on from the bitterness. Just listening to his “Good Life” washes all of it away.

Count me as another ‘Season 10 was the best ever year’ groupie. I honestly had no intention of even watching at all and was so busy I had no time, but I sort of tuned into the first audition just to see how the new judges looked. And it was sort of interesting. And before I knew it, Scotty, Casey and Jacob had me watching every single week, reading blogs, watching videos, and getting tickets to the tour.

By the end of the season, I’d bought pretty well every song of Scotty’s, Casey’s Jacob’s, James’, and Haley’s. Then I bought 3 of the EPs (James, Scotty, Haley), plus the CD’s from Scotty, James, and Lauren, and the duet from Casey and Haley. I have every intention of buying Casey’s, Haley’s, Jacob’s and Naima’s CDs when they come out. (Sorry Stefano – not going there, although I do think you can sing!) I also follow most of the ones I like on Twitter. And facebook. Sigh.

This year, I will likely buy whatever comes out from Heejun, Hollie, Phillip, and Jermaine – still hoping Jimmy signs him. Might buy others but I’d wait and check them out first.

I must be reverting to my missed teenage fan years or something. Never joined a fan club in my life. (Well, except for one I joined a few years ago for Scottish/Canadian Johnny Reid, but that’s another story. :))

I just keep listening to the “Good Life.” Someone on the you tube video of “Good Life” posted this comment: “I absolutely love this song. It’s very Casey and Catchy with a good amount of Jazzy feel.” I agree. Love the vibe of this song. Both Casey A. and Casey J. should have performed on AI this year. Both are very talented and true musicians.

  • too-cool-for-school

‘Simple Life’ is a little boring to me but it definitely isn’t bad. Looking forward to hearing the rest + the duet with Haley. The Haley/Casey duets on Idol were legendary in my book!

Best of luck to Casey! :)

I’m pretty convinced the system works exactly the way the owners and the advertisers want it to work, usedtobelucy. They’ve got everybody promising favors, high and low, and begging at the back door. What’s also wrong with that is – it has nothing to do with the music, and hasn’t for a very long time. Which is why, to put it in Technical Terms, popular radio sucks.

Most of the widely varied music I like will never be played on popular radio – so why bother to listen? I don’t have to – there are other options. And I back my preferences with $$.

But I like Casey’s ‘vibe’ and musicality, I’ll be waiting to hear the tracks on this album – I also like Casey even more when he sings with Haley, and they put down those undercurrents of Jazz sound – they were the only contestants of interest on Season 10, which otherwise was a complete waste, for me.

See, I’m thrilled to find one contestant a season whose music I may buy, two is a bonus – Season 11 doesn’t even have that saving grace – just a few vague future possibilities. But, it saves me lots of money! Heh. So there is that.

After Haley’s “Listen Up!” will be released this late May, Caley fans would now have a treat with his album this June, and I might say “Simple Life” IS radio friendly and imagining it listening it in media devices.

I might add to those who think that although the talent was better in S11 than S10 as a whole (Top 7 was quite not full of clunkers), I think the natural feel of the cast chemistry of S10 makes the viewing pleasure more entertaining (add to the more natural Save drama, Haley’s battle to the top, the outings of the finalist featured more).

I hope this combination could have happened:
    1. Jessica (S11 Powerhouse R&B)
    2. Naima (S10 Reggae/R&B Girl)
    3. Haley (S10 Folk Soul/Anyway You Want It Girl)
    4. Casey (S10 Jazzy Cat)
    5. James (S10 All-Out Rocker)
    6. Joshua (S11 Gospel Soul)
    7. Skylar (S11 Feisty Country Girl)
    8. Scotty (S10 Traditional Country Crooner)
    9. Hollie (S11 Cute Balladeer)

And add Erika, Elise, DeAndre and even Thia, Karen (Latina girl) and Phillip (Indie-like rocker instead of Paul IMO) in the mix somewhere with also the craziness of S10 then we have the best season ever :)

P.S. For some reason I wished Haley had Filipino blood so people here in the Philippines will be crazy for her (and that the Fil-Ams would vote for her like crazy like what they are doing with Jessica this year).
