Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive listen of the new single from Season 7 Idol, Brooke White’s new project Jack and White, called “Gemini”.

Jack and White are Brooke and songwriter Jack Matranga. The two met earlier this year at a songwriting session for a Brooke solo album. “Everything we started writing started sounding like it’s own thing,” White explains to EW. “This wasn’t a Brooke White record, this was a collaboration.”

The thoroughly modern sounding new tune is the title track of the duo’s upcoming EP, due out August 30.

What do you think? I LOVE it. Can’t wait to hear the entire EP

I really like it as well, especially the beginning with the amusement park feel opening up. Very nice. The only thing I had a problem with was that I felt like they built intensity too quickly on the chorus and had nowhere to go from there. Nonetheless, I’m seeing some real promise with the sound and feel of the duo. I hope they continue to grow from here, and put out some really great stuff.

Wow, great song! So catchy, so infectious. Could not stop playing it. One of those laid back, poppy, bopping folk tracks that I have been into. Never thought I would like a lot of what Brooke have come out with, but lately I’ve really liked some of her tracks. Interested to know what her album with her new duo/team-up will sound like.

I really wanted to like Brooke’s stuff after idol. I liked her quite a bit on the show and she has a lovely voice. Her first album was ok–I downloaded a few songs from it. I just felt the songwriting wasn’t strong enough. I did once hear a country-ish song of hers on you tube that was pretty good.

IMO–this is another ok song–kind of generic and definitely over-produced. She has a sweet voice–she doesn’t need it

Well , i was not a fan of Brooke , but i should say that i like this style more than the one on her first album, this tune remind me a little ( or a lot) of ‘The papas and the Mamas’ and Brooke fit perfectly on this new hippie era .

Good song, good arrangement but very weird production… as in the level of the vocal versus the music.
