It’s been good news all around for American Idol season 6 runner-up, Blake Lewis. The singer and electronic wiz-kid has a brand new major label record deal with Republic Records. His forthcoming album, Portrait of a Chameleon, comes out this spring.

And his brand new single from that album, “Your Touch” is featured in a promo for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer touch. Watch the 60s spot below.

Good for him.  I hope it does for him what IE8 (?) did for Alex Clare’s Too Close – I bought that song in a movie theater after seeing/hearing the commercial.

I wasn’t a Blake fan when he was on AI but congrats to him for keeping at his craft and snagging opportunities like this. The clip of the song is not my style but it sounds like it could be a hit.

I am so happy for Blake!  Don’t know if it will be a hit, but he’s a hard-working SOB and that should count for something.  Still a fan and can’t wait to buy his album.

    Awesome!
The hook is pure pop bliss and packs some major sticking power!
Similar add basically made Too Close happen, so hope this placement will help Blake with radio and sales (unsurprisingly he was my favorite from his season, followed by Jordin).

Is there a 15 seconds version?

Great news – love his “Heartbreak on Vinyl” album -  some really great tracks.

Wow, not a fan (until now) but that was really awesome and it even looked like the song was written just perfectly for the ad. Microsoft is always a huge, huge thing and being featured not only with music but in person looks major to me. Kudos to whoever got this for Blake and kudos to Mr. Lewis!

nice work if you can get it!
Seriously though, i’m not too familiar with his post Idol stuff… but with JT having a come back and likes of Bruno Mars, Olly Murs & male fronted pop bands (1D and Maroon 5) riding high in charts & on radio… this could be very well timed… wish him all the best

Considering that Too Close had absolutely no connection to the product whatsoever and still became a big hit, a song that actually fits the concept of the ad should do well.

Lewis’ preferred style of EDM is not my favorite stripe, but I respect him for continuing to work so hard and I hope that this album cycle works out for him.

    that’s awesome!

I like the song. Having your song in a microsoft commercial is huge promotional. It propelled Alex Clare and Labrinth to stardom.

Good for Blake. He’s got musical talent, skill, brains and a massive work ethic. Glad to see it’s paying off to at least some degree.

Ugh!  Happy and not so happy. The last album was awesome, it had great songs, so this new record contract is much deserved.  But I don’t like this song at all so it frustrates me to see him get such a chance at a wide audience again and see it possibly blown again with songs that aren’t deserving of him.  Anyway, I hope it is a hit, but I don’t like this song at all.

Always loved Blake. New song is awesome! And seems like he’s doing pretty well, best of luck! Can’t wait for the album
