Big Brother 18 Episode 2 Recap and Live Blog (VIDEOS)

The Big Brother 18 premiere event continues tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

Last night was the season premiere of Big Brother 18. The Houseguests were divided into four teams of four: Team Unicorn, the Freakazoids, Big Sister, and Category 4. After several rounds of competitions, the members of the Freakazoids are now in danger of being the first Houseguest evicted. Tonight the competition will determine who will leave between Corey, Glenn, Nicole, and Tiffany and which of the remaining three will be the first HoH of the summer.  So what will happen tonight? Let’s find out!

The episode begins with the Freakazoids in low spirits knowing that one of them will be the first one evicted. Tiffany is especially sad, and Da’Vonne goes to comfort Tiffany. Tiffany says it would be so embarrassing if she is the first one evicted, and she feels the added pressure of being Vanessa’s sister. Tiffany also reveals to Da’Vonne that she is Vanessa’s sister, and Da’Vonne is thrilled she shared this secret that she already knew. Da’Vonne believes she now has a newbie on the veterans’ side. Meanwhile, Paul is telling Bronte, Glenn, and Corey that the newbies must stick together to take out the veterans. However, Corey says in the diary room that targeting the veterans may not be what he wants to do. It may be Paul’s strategy to take out the vets, but Corey says it’s not necessarily what he wants to do.

Da’Vonne, James, and Frank have a private conversation. They are concerned of the newbies targeting them, but Da’Vonne thinks they will be okay if either Nicole or Tiffany wins HoH. Meanwhile, Nicole talks to Corey about whom should win HoH from the three Freakazoids that survive the competition. Nicole wants Corey to agree to let Nicole win HoH, but she wants to plant the seed so Corey would think it was his idea. The conversation goes exactly how Nicole wants it to, and Corey said it would be better if Nicole is the HoH.

It’s now time for the competition. It’s a balancing competition that requires teams to place coconuts in slots to spell out “SOS.” The last person to complete the competition will be the first Houseguest evicted. The competition begins, and Glenn is struggling. However, it soon becomes a very close competition. Nicole is the first to complete the competition! She is safe from the first eviction. It’s very close between the other three, but Tiffany is the next to complete the challenge. She is safe too. It’s now down to Corey and Glenn, and it results in a photo finish between the two. But the third to complete the challenge is Corey. Glenn is the first Houseguest evicted. The other three must decide who will be HoH. After some deliberation, Nicole is the first HoH of the summer!

The Houseguests walk back into the house, and Paul is extremely angry that Corey did not take the HoH. He confronts him about it, and Corey explains that Nicole wanted to be the HoH and he didn’t want to aggressively insist he be HoH. In the diary room, Corey says that he didn’t want to put blood on his hands by being the first HoH, but now he’s worried not taking the HoH will backfire against him.

Later Nicole and James are sitting in the HoH room with Paulie. Paulie kisses up to them, and James and Nicole are hopeful he will be on their side. Paulie admits that he has a connection with the returning Houseguests due to his brother being a past player. Meanwhile, some of the newbies are nervous about being nominated, especially Paul and Jozea. Victor has a private conversation with Nicole. He tells her his entire game plan, including that Jozea is after the veterans. Nicole says in the diary room that Victor just told her too much information, and now she has a possible nominee in mind.

Next is the have-not reveal. Da’Vonne, Jozea, Paul, and Zakiyah see the have-not room, which includes having to sleep in bumper cars. Later Da’Vonne and Jozea have a discussion on the hammock, and Jozea speaks very highly of himself and calls himself the Messiah. In the diary room, Da’Vonne is annoyed with Jozea’s overly confident demeanor. He also tells Da’Vonne his entire game plan and his ideal boot order. Afterwards, Da’Vonne goes up to the HoH room and tells Nicole everything Jozea just said. It’s looking like Jozea is the target.

Nicole has a conversation with Corey, and she tells him she wants Jozea out. Corey seems to be on board, but he asks who will be the second person nominated. She says she wants to nominate Paulie so he will fight for the Power of Veto. Corey is unsure Paulie will agree to be a pawn, but Nicole is hopeful that he’ll agree to it.

Nicole asks Paulie his thoughts, and Paulie says he wants Jozea gone too. However, he pushes for Zakiyah to be the pawn. Nicole, James, Da’Vonne, and Frank beat around the bush about Paulie being a pawn until Frank finally asks if he’s willing to play in the Power of Veto. Paulie agrees to it, but he’s worried the plan will backfire since pawns sometimes do go home. Nicole agrees, and is now unsure what to do.

It’s time for the nomination ceremony. Nicole has nominated Jozea and Paulie. Nicole explains that there weren’t a lot of options, so she nominated two strong players to let them compete. In the diary room, Paulie is worried about this move backfiring while Jozea is confident that he has the majority of the votes.

And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Big Brother 18. Thanks for reading, post your thoughts in the comments section below, and come back Sunday night for another live recap.
