R&B singer, Andrina Brogden, hails from North Dakota and attended Minnesota State University at Moorhead.  Her uncle edited a video featuring clips of Andrina as a young child with her family at the holidays and visiting a mall. It’s her first video package! He posted, “I put this together for my beautiful niece Andrina, who is auditioning for American Idol this week. Go get ’em Drina!”

Her twitter description reads, “I’m the girl thats gonna make her dreams come true.” A spot on the American Idol XIII Top 31 is a step in the right direction! Andrina’s Facebook is full of photos with her friends and family.

Doesn’t seem to have the “it” factor

  • No Thanks

Why does almost every chick try sing Whitney!? And Alicia Key’s “Fallin” has been done to death as well. I smell lack of originality ahead.

  • Incipit

Nice vocals, she knows how to use her voice – but that rendition of “American Honey” sounds like a country song to me. So I looked it up – and that’s what it is. (Lady Antebellum is country, right?) Between that and the dead end “competition songs” that Jimmy was so bloody fond of – I’ll wait and see what else she has.

She screams “been there, done that” to me. She’s not a bad singer, but I think she will be fodder, especially since there are a lot of better/more interesting girls this year.

  • Niall

Her song choices seem pretty cliche. That doesn’t bode well. I also think if she makes the Top 12 she’ll be hurt by location. North Dakota is a small population state. Historically southern or big city contestants do best in the voting rounds.

Not only fodder but seems to have zero creativity and originality in the music department. A lot of these girls so far can be interchangeable, as well. My guess there are a few TCOs and the rest are cannon fodder

Girls like this cannot survive on Idol anymore. These days you need to be creative, think outside of box, do unexpected song choices, like I don’t see her really making it far at all.

No. You may not share a video with the poor performance of Whitney, if you go on national singing show. And I always said, baby home video is the object of the blackmail of children to grandchildren. I understand that uncle loves his niece and is proud of her, but NO, for God’s sake! LOL

  • chili1000

LOL…the reason it sounds like a country song is because that IS Lady Antebellum singing in the video, not Andrina Bogden

  • Incipit

Heh. OK, chili1000. I don’t listen to country or to Pop radio – wouldn’t know what Lady Antebellum sounds like if she were singing live in front of me – which is never gonna happen.

  • Cydney Sabin

Just a guess, but she probably has the vote of everybody in the state. I knew her from high school, so I know how good she is. True, she could be better, but this will give her a chance to do just that. Just my opinion.
