Loved the concert tonight! I’ve read many recaps of the other shows but I successfully avoided any and all videos. I think this added to my enjoyment. Carly was my hands down favorite tonight. Also, I was never a fan of Syesha on the show but, damn, her last song blew me away. Yup, David and MJ pulled out 2 foot canoe paddles and gave a nod to our 10,000 lakes. Does anybody know what was written on them? Thanks to the amazon in front of me I missed it. Luckily I was able to see Jason get his “spanking”.

MN Sue-please give us more details on Carly’s performances since she was your favorite. I’m a big fan so I’d love to hear more. Carly rocks!!!

Amy123, Carly was in fantastic voice tonight, as always. I think what impressed me was her natural stage presence. To me, she seemed to be a totally different artist than what I remembered from the show, confident yet warm. My concert buds and I loved “Drove All Night” the best. The crowd was very appreciative. Standing O.

I Drove All Night was my favorite of Carly’s set at the show I attended. I just love how she sings it. You are so right about how natural Carly is on stage and so unlike the uncomfortable Carly we saw on the show. I’m glad to hear she got a standing “O” from the crowd.

MN Sue-thanks for the details. That is really great that she got a standing ovation. She is my favorite Idol and I like how she is so intense and powerful when she sings but is also genuine and sweet when talking to the crowd. I’m glad you enjoyed her so much. I love I Drove All Night too, but my favorite is Crazy on You (because I’m an old Heart fan). I’m going to my third show on Sept. 6th, so I can’t wait to hear her amazing voice again.

By the way, did you hear the news about her expected recording contract? Yay for her!!!

Yay, more Carly love! She is baaaaaad, and that means good. Carly got so much crap during the show. It screwed with her confidence. Glad to see she seems to be coming through it all, she is definitely one to watch. Amy123 I can’t wait for your recap. I’m jellus, my idol plans were shattered.

Ok here’s my recap! Tonight was a full house! This was my first Idol concert and I am sooo glad i went! It was a lot better than I thought it would be. Everyone was great!

Chikezie – i was really impressed with him. he had a lot of energy and had very good interaction with the crowd. He gave a shout out to Paris Bennet, from Season 5, who was in the audience, as she is from Minneapolis.

Ramiele – a lot better than i was expecting. She was so tiny and cute. I didn’t care for her much on the show, but her voice was nice tonight.

MJ – i LOVED him! This was when the crowd first went crazy! I loved the Queen song. He seemed very natural on stage and has a great charisma to him.

Kristy Lee – She was a little boring for me. I did like God Bless the USA but that was about it. I was ready to move on from her set. She is very beautiful though.

Carly – wow, what a voice! She has got a set of lungs on her! I liked her set, but at times it seemed she was screaming. You can’t deny her talent though.

Brooke – I love her style and choice of songs, but my one criticism is that she doesn’t interact with the crowd at all, like going from one side of the stage to the other, grabbing people’s hands the way everyone else did, etc. She was having trouble pronouncing Minneapolis…..she said she’s always thought it was “Minneanapolis”

Jason – love him. He was very relaxed just like he seemed on the show. He seemed very sweet. He seemed more confident than i remember on the show.

Syesha – she is quite the diva. i loved her last song, but her first too i wasn’t impressed with. she looks like a star though.

Archie – he was great! did not disappoint!! i love his voice live. my favorite by far was stand by me. the only time he seemed out of breath was in between apologize and stand by me. i saw him coughing quite a bit too….i think he has a cold? i saw him cough in between a few lines of his songs and after every song, but he still sounded great! the noise level tripled when he came out! the crowd loved him. he got the 2nd loudest cheers, right behind cook.

Cook – what a performer! he was definitely born to do this! he is a great american idol. he of course got out his video camera again to film the crowd. he apologized to a group of brooke fans he had met earlier….he promised to wear a glowstick they gave him but forgot. he also spotted a guy in the 6th or 7th row that he used to play high school baseball with. he said, “you used to make fun of me, but look who’s laughing now!” or something like that. it was cute. loudest applause of the night.

PDSTM – Mavid tonight consisted of paddles and pretending they were rowing in a boat. it was cute. and i believe Jason got smacked with a paddle.

I also went and waited by the buses afterwards. Kristy Lee Cook was out first, but had a sign taped to her chest that said she was on vocal rest. So i got her autograph, Jason’s, Brooke White’s, and Archie’s…along with a high five from him. Brooke and Archie were the most gracious, IMO, and Archie stayed the longest. A few people saw Cook come out and go directly into the bus but never came out to sign autographs. Some girls asked Brooke White if Cook was coming out, and she said she was the last one that was coming out….not sure why. She said, “sorry, you’re stuck with me.” I left after I got Archie’s autograph, since Brooke said she was the last, so I assume no one else came out, but i’m not sure.

I went to two shows a few weeks ago (DC and Charlotte) and we had so much fun that we wanted to see the show one more time before they split up this wonderful group. We are driving over eight hours to the CT show and I am so excited. We’re making a weekend out of it, so we hope to meet Carly, Michael, and David Cook outside before/after the show.

Carly – wow, what a voice! She has got a set of lungs on her! I liked her set, but at times it seemed she was screaming. You canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t deny her talent though.

I see that alot where people say she is screaming, but I disagree. I just call it belting it out. Her voice is so powerful that it’s beyond comprehension. It just blows me away.

It looks like the both went after Jason and me thinks that was planned. Jason might not have known about it, but Mavid probably did.

MJ and DC at O’Donovans is just too funny. Loved it when David said, no I’m not singing, I’m playing air guitar. They need to come with a warning label! Thanks for that, Polaris!

From an Archie perspective, this reviewer “gets it”… :happy_tb: Archie’s review is one of the best I’ve read so far this year on the tour regarding the “secret of his success – on AI and going forward into what we hope is a long, satisfying career:

His dreamy eyes, soulful body language and ability to sell a song. The bad: His giggly patter and propensity to say “whew” when talking. The grade: A-minus.

I noticed in the Minneapolis St. Paul Tribune article that Carly got the best grade of all except for the two Davids. The reviewer couldn’t say anything about her voice, so they only bad thing was some of her moves. I’ll take this as a pretty good review (esp. considering how picky those guys are) :

Carly Smithson. The good: She picks songs that fit her big voice, with its piercing wail. The bad: The kneeling to begin and the crouching to end “Crazy on You.” The grade: B-plus.

Polaris! What fun! I loved when Cookie took his “guitar” out into the crowd.

I saw the banter about this on d-c.org. A fan made these to symbolize Minnesota being the land of 100,000 lakes. They gave it to DC before the show when he was out signing stuff. So MJ and DC decided to use it for MAVID. Jason knew about it as he put his mic into his pocket right before MAVID; however he didn’t expect them to really go after him as much so he ran away. It was too cute.

It sure looks like Jason has his mic in his hand and didn’t put it in his pocket. You can see it pretty clear in this vid.

It doesn’t actually look like MJ/DC actually touched JC, from this video.

OK, that video of DC/MJ in the pub wins at life. How great to see them just being normal guys and blowing off some steam. Oh, to have been in there when they showed up.

Oh, I love that, plus his great smile that takes the sting away. It’s like the adorable shoulder shake he did when he was kidding Chikesie at Kansas City #2.

I watched both videos again and you can see Carly in the audience in both of them. The person who shot the vidoes commented that she was with them, so it’s too bad she didn’t join them on stage. Those three are my favorites and they all rock!!! They seem to be such good friends and always have fun together.

Thanks for all the great video clips! I love the Michael and Kristy dance thingie (Michael Lee??) and I love the Mavid with Jason (as one fan on youtube put it – JaMavid?? lol). I like to see them all having fun on stage.

Thanks to whoever found the clips of Mavid karaoking at the bar in MN – and with Carly in tow. Looks like they had a good time and got to let off some steam. Damn, do I wish I was in that audience!

MN Sue-Are you planning to write a review of everyone’s performances for us? I would love to hear your perspective on all of the contestants (including Carly). Just wondering.

He gave MJ and Jason a B- also, his review has got to be the one poorest that I am read so far really and someone wrote that the reviewer was a 50 year old man? Calling Archie dreamy? Weird and he used the dum stoner, Tiny Tim comments when referring to Jason – overused and so yesterday.

Here’s another video of the Mavid my hubby shot from the third row. We had a blast during the concert. I thought everyone was good, to varying degrees. Some were better at interacting with the crowd, though…and song choice definitely made a difference with the energy level of the crowd.
