    Not seeing much news on this tour, except when one of the contestants steps out of the tour to do something else.   What’s up with that?   Also, read daily to see comments on how they are doing and not seeing much.   Not your fault Mj, you certainly provide the platform.   Lots of PP news but little else.

    This is the quietest tour ever! I dont understand it. maybe philip win so definitively there is nothing to discuss? I check this section for most shows and it’s always the same. :-(

     I don’t think it’s because of Phil. There is usually a lot of discussion on all of the idols on tour.  Maybe they are all boring!!!

    But every concert appears to be well attended, though.

    Perhaps most people not at the concert is busy watching the Olympics…?

    My husband for sure has been glued to the TV all night long watching every Olympic sport. Apparently NBC who’s covering the Olympics is garnering record viewing numbers.

    I agree.. I remember last year there was a lot of buzz about contestants getting signed and recording. When Brian Mansfield was interviewing them and big press releases when Pia & Haley were signed, and who Scotty and Lauren were writing with, etc. That was all in July of last year. Now, we barely even know if Jessica is signed.

    All that mostly matters is that they are drawing a crowd, which they seem to be from everything I’ve seen.  Outside of the Salt Lake show, I haven’t heard about a badly attended show.  There’s just not a whole lot to discuss.  At this point I’m tired of watching vids of the same numbers night after night just to see if anyone did anything differently.

    Also while there have been no official press releases, there has been plenty to indicate that Jessica is signed and who she is working with at present.  She has tweeted/retweeted items from Toby Gad more than once and there are pictures of them together in the studio.  If you follow their twitter feeds, it’s not hard to pick up on what they are doing. 

    It’s a relatively drama free and low key group, which is kind of refreshing in many ways. The only things I’ve got from last night is that Heejun was busy hacking people’s twitters when they were on stage (Colton & Jessica) and that I think most of the guys are sick and struggling a bit vocally at the moment.

    Maybe because all the fan base debate and discussion is going on twitter!! I have a twitter account, with 1600+ followers and It’s dedicated to Jessica… Her fans are always talking about her on twitter.. Every day she’s got a trending topic talking about her. today(her birthday) she had 17 different Trending topics on twitter,, If that’s not excitement then I dont know what is… All the fans are doing their discussions on twitter now. I know I am.

    Some fans also said DeAndre had no voice left after the show last night.  No idea if he’s sick or just needs vocal rest.  At least today is a day off for them.

    Actually I just watched the Glad You Came video from last and he seems to have a voice there, but rather it’s Joshua who is barely even singing. Half of the time Josh doesn’t even have the mic to his mouth. Dre finished Josh’s solo lines for him.

    Keeping any kind of meaningful discussion below 140 characters seems completely alien and uninteresting to me.  But the social networking thing has definitely changed the face of blogging. 

    If all you want is news and soundbites on a topic that interests you, you don’t have to visit blogs at all. You can stay on twitter, Facebook and partake in the endless reblogging of tumblr to get your fix.

    Not just alien, impossible. For me, anyway. So I don’t join these Social Apps. One doesn’t have to join them to read most of them for news bites. But perhaps the lack of posters who care about this season is another side effect of casting Very Young People, who attract Very Young Fans. Instead of collecting news and soundbites about the cast member who interests them, and bringing those to a blog or forum for discussion, development, more facts or opinions, these Very Young Fans have been socialized to make a 140 character one line response, and actually consider that a conversation, instead of the me2 or ITA which is all it really is.

    140 characters don’t allow for discussion, just news links or surface comments. This post would have contained 2 1/2 lines, and no discussion at all. If instead of treating Twitter etc as part of a communication system, they are treated like all there is, they become the empty calories of the social networking world. IMO. Of Course.
