I’d bet money that Vegas didn’t have any odds regarding Curtis, since no one would care about him and they likely wouldn’t receive bets either way.

My favorite performance was Candice, with Angie not far behind. I think Curtis will go home with a Curtis,Janelle, and Devin bottom 3.

If you believe in Dial Idol, Lazaro isn’t leaving. Actually he’s in the lead at that site altho no one has been declared safe. I’m with the Curtis needs to leave chain of thought.

On “The View”, they just showed a clip of Amber singing AMLT, with the judges giving a standing O, and included the part about Mariah not being able to stand because of her dress. They also showed Nicki and her “waffles” comment. lol No comments about Amber’s performance or anyone else’s.

Jimmy talked about Lazaro’s large fanbase last night, so he’s not going anywhere for a while.

  • bufkus

he’s got all of the suckers for sobstories vote wrapped up, which is
like 50% of the viewers. i’m definitely rooting against this sobstory
milking fool who talks better than he can sing.

Lazaro has the combination of sympathetic backstory, and being a good looking / cute guy next door type… so appeal to both mums and daughters… plus he’ll probably get some of voters who would’ve gone for the WGWG had their been one

I think Kree will win…she’s the Tate Stevens of this competition…good singer, but COUNTRY!

  • suenigma

Paul is not sticking around very long. No artist who is as insecure as he obviously is has ever lasted more than midway on AI. If the judges or Jimmy told him to don a monkey suit next week I think he would. And don’t underestimate Devin’s quiet confidence and calm demeanour – reminds me of Scotty and Phillip. He is the youngest but seems the oldest amongst the boys.

She is pageantry, but more in line with the Osmonds than contestants like Pia. The funny thing is that that pageant bot quality works well for her. It doesn’t seem like she’s fake or too rehearsed, and just like there is an audience for the Osmonds, there are people who will love her personality, style and even her 1980′s styled hair.

We are not voting who should leave, and voting who should win the whole thing. When we have very strong candidate like Candice, Kree, Angie, and Amber, the bottom half gets very few votes, and somebody unexpected may leave first. That is, if we violently agree who are in 1-5 and who are in 6-10, any of 6-10 can end up with leaving while we are too busy voting for 1-5. I think we need to look and see who is splitting votes with another person. Which boys are similar to each other, sort of things. Are Paul and Devin catering to the same fan base?

Regardless I am very sure that this year, a girl is not the first one to be cut :)
I cannot believe how eager I am to find out the result.

The theme was fine, but it didn’t work well with this group of contestants. I don’t know why people thought this top 10 were going to sing songs from winners like Kris, Lee, Cook or P2. It was beyond obvious that they would pick songs from the winners who were women, country or R&B. There was no way they were going to pick an obscure track off of these guys’ CDs.

  • sdmama

I have a different take on that. If I can get coached to win, and little recording career afterwards, or I can get coached to entice record company executives, and finish in 4th and have huge career afterwards, I would pick latter. These kids have 10 weeks to secure record deal by impressing TPTB. Shows audience may love you to vote for you but they do not necessarily buy your albums once the show is over. I don’t think the record labels pay much attention to the finishing position of the artists, and rather evaluate them themselves. Jimmy is one of them.

Okay, after three stunning performances of “I Who Have Nothing,” time for that song to be retired from this show. Although it appears to be good luck for any lady who sings it :) I’ll repeat the first two lines from my first poem if the season, because it applies again this week. “Amber and Angie and Candice and Kree, these are the ones who do it for me.” As for the other 6: good luck, you’re gonna need it (though I also voted for Janelle).
This may sound irrelevant, but does anyone have any idea which guy and girl are competing in the “sing-off” tonight? My first guesses would be Aubrey for the girl and Nick for the guy.

  • Tommyo2000

Angie is tagged with “pagent-bot” because of her look… She looks very 80s 90 s pagent, kind of reminds me Tiffany … It’s mostly the hair and dress choices… Perfectly acceptable for a record exec to talk about it with her. The visuals for a star today, especially a female, are almost as important as the singing… Right now her look screams mid-westerner… Sorry gotta get edgier to sell into a mass market…

The sing off kind of made me think of Last Chance Kitchen (on Top Chef)….it might be interesting if the lowest vote getter got a second chance every week against the prevailing winner of Last Chance Idol.

So every Thursday, the lowest vote getter would sing against the winner of the previous week….so voters would vote between two people every Thursday….and the last person standing at the end joins the final three or something.

This would make Thursdays more interesting and also eliminate the chance of a super talent going home too early (especially if a save was already used).

Well, so many bad song choices so little time.

    In my opinion
there were three sub par performances, Lazaro, Curtis and Burnell. Four
decent ones (in different grades) Devin, Paul, Angie and Janelle, two
good ones Amber and Kree, and one really really good, Candice.

    Right
now Candice is way ahead the competence, of course that doesn’t mean
she is going to win (take Melinda as example) but the rest need to up
    their game.

Kree sangs really well, but i have to say i didn’t like the arrangement, and she needs to connect more with the song.

    Amber
is the whole package, she is beautiful and a good singer, but that was a
bad song choice, i think she will do a lot better in the future (and
    she did better last week)

Devin, he is the best of the guys, but
he needs to choice something more exciting, because i fear for him, His
choices are really boring till now

    Paul, there was a clear
improvement this week, less theatrics is a good thing. I think he could
be a lot better with more connection with the song, but he is improving

Janelle, she is the weakest of the girls, her performance was energetic but nothing special.

    Angie,
she was my last week favourite, but this is not the kind of song she
must chose if she wants to win. She is a good singer, but not that good.
You can compare with what Lorena (operación triunfo 5 spain) did with
this song. Lorena’s english is awful, but her vocal chops are way better
    than Angies

And well, the other three were pretty forgettable. Bad song choices and boring performances.

With a little luck we’ll say good bye to Curtis

    If
they want to do another Idol’s night, it will be better if it is with
songs from former idol contestants. There are a lot of choices (not only
the winners) but not the former idol’s choices on the show. Most of the
songs are do it again and again and again, so there’s no need of a
    theme like this.

    Fav – Candice Glover
Who Should Go – Lazaro (Curtis too but based on overall vocal ability Lazaro)
