    Wow!
Hollie Cavanagh & Jessica Sanchez made it. My favs usually get cut early lol.

  • http://twitter.com/OneTwoDoseyDoe Roger Kramjet

Now we can start searching for youtube clips of all these performers!

  • Kylee

I think Hollie had a lot of potential last year but could have used a year of growing. I’m glad she came back and I hope she makes it this year! Chelsea Sorrell was another one who I liked from last year’s spoilers who I am glad to see back.

  • hazuki

JESSICA SANCHEZ. HOLLIE CAVANAGH. so excited for these two contestants. These girls can be stars.

  • Valentin432

The seaon 10 returnees (Hollie, Deandre or Colton) have an excellent shot of going on this year, S10 was really loaded with talent.

Based on youtube videos, I’m liking Elise Testone.

  • http://twitter.com/ItsHippoFun PinkHippo

Crossing my fingers Scott Dangerfield makes the Top 24… the Top 12 even!

  • http://twitter.com/blkeener Brittany Keener

I cannot wait till tapings! Please, Nigel…NO SECTION X! :|
    16 days! 16 days! 16 days!

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I thought both DeAndre and Colton would make it last year, so they should get farther this season.  I am surprised Janelle was already eliminated.  I hope Nigel tweaks the show a bit, but I admit I am excited!

  • Kesia Monteith

If Idol wants back the younger demo, the best way to do that is to have the contestants, who are suppose to be groomed to be relevant recording artists, not sing 1950s songs. Come on now, I want to hear some current music!

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I think there’s room for all types of music.  I prefer the oldies, especially 1960′s & 70′s.  However, I am also open to current music as long as it’s not Rap.  LOL.  Idol has a wide demographic range; it is great when all can be addressed.  This is also true of the mentors they select.

  • BonnieDee

Right now, based on Youtube performances, I like Jessica Sanchez.

  • Anonymous

Jessica Sanchez is also my favorite based on YT clips I’ve seen. I liked Scott dangerfield last season too. I really hope Deandre, Colton, and Hollie can make it into the top 24 this time.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree.  I think that the X-Factor is trying to attract a younger demographic of Top 40 fans with their gaudy music-award-show production numbers, weird remixes/rearrangements of older songs and advancing rap/hip hop artists, even though Simon made lots of mistakes.  I’m not sure how much X-Factor is succeeding, but at least they are trying to attract younger fans who will vote for a contestant who has a chance of becoming a relevant, current Top 40 artist.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Over the years, the viewing demographic for Idol has narrowed and aged significantly, and the fans of Top 40 music are not well represented in that audience.  It will be interesting to see if Idol can reverse that continuing trend.

  • geekygirl

IMHO  Good music is timeless.  My daughters are always surprised when I sing along with something that is “their” generation, how do you know this song mum?  It’s often a remix or cover of something from my era or earlier.  If the artist can do something clever with it to make it contemporary without butchering it, I am all for it!

  • Karen C

Sometimes it is also good if someone can take an older song and make it sound modern and current.  Some have been able to pull this off, and IMO, it is the sign of someone who has potential as an artist.

  • Karen C

Wow, there’s a lot of contestants that had been on other seasons.  I know that has happened before not sure if it is more than usual.

Kind of interested in seeing Scott Dangerfield again.  I also wonder if Todd MacIntyre made it through, it doesn’t look like it, though, and I’m not sure if he would really be  a pop star anyway.

  • http://twitter.com/doesmonaknow DoesMonaKnow

Why the switch from Michael Jackson music–too current? I love Elvis and The Beatles and all the classics but watching these kids trying to do music their grandparents could have grown up with, it makes the audience (at least *me*, lol) feel old to see all that they’ve never heard of before. I think there’s a happy medium between having all current music and Nigel’s tastes.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_D4PGLRRYPIRI6TG4OO7UWPG43M Cathy Kosak

they’ve all got a tough act to follow…wish them all the very best,,!!

  • Anonymous

I’ve never been a Hollie fan, I always thought she was too bland. Right now, my favorites are Erika Van Pelt and Scott Dangerfield.

  • Anonymous

Adam brought me to AI, and I left with him, so I’m not familiar with the people that you guys mentioned having previously auditioned.  So I went and took a look.  Here is my first impression reaction based on what I can see online.

I can easily see Hollie making it far during voting.
    Not Jessica.
Not sure if Chelsea will remember words or not…does she usually use lyric cheat sheets?
Elise has an interesting tone, but not sure she would survive.
    Scott Dangerfield most definitely.
Colton has something, but not sure if it’s enough.  I for sure would like to hear more.
DeAndre would be an interesting contestant, but not sure if the votes would be there for him.  I personally would not be interested enough to vote.

I think that covered everyone’s mentions.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UITYTUSGL7IK7WLFFDXXRYP7GA Falfor

I was thinking the same thing here, there are a lot contestants that have been on other seasons or other shows. I really prefer the total unknown, having a chance to make it on this show. To me that is what this show is really about. And while I know people grow as artists, trying out for something you did not make previous, does not show determination, but desperation, because of what Idol can do as a name dropper.

While I agree that everyone is entitled to chase their dream, using the show purely as a stepping stone/name dropper takes something away. Idol has provided us with much entertainment and true talent. Thankfully, all the winners this far, have been deserving of their win, and none of them have been try agains.

  • Tess

Since current Top 40 music is pretty much linked to electronic sound and auto-tune with a dash of rap and never ending repeat of lyrics and synthesized back-beats obscuring the non-existent talent of many of the current singers I could care less if the Idol-wannabes sing today’s music….but then I rarely call what is done today singing.

Why do we need another Bieber, or GaGa or heaven forbid another Katy or Rihanna….we already have them.  Wouldn’t it be more fun to get a talented newbie with some new thoughts about how to break into the industry…somebody who can take old material and make it relevant and current…somebody who actually has the “IT” that can make people sit up in their seats.

As long as we can find somebody who isn’t a clone of our current Idolettes, who has some potential and some “star” power…. then they must make their sound and their thing into what current buyers buy.

And…just for the record…with all of the emphasis on finding a pop star, X-Factor left the music industry saddled with a lame diva, an over-the hill WGWG, a psuedo-rapper with no voice, a bunch of one dimensional disney girls, and a kid who is definitely too big for his britches….and no one can call any of them relevant, I wouldn’t think.

  • Tess

Personally, I think it is great that the kids are persistent enough to try and try again….to me it says something about their fortitude and their inner strength.  Music is an industry where yes is heard very rarely and the ability to overcome the “no” is what makes a person better and better.

And stories like Scotty’s where he goes from school choir, to a couple of miny Idol events, to making it on the big show are pretty damn rare.  Most of the kids who try out have been “into” music most of their lives and have been performing for a heck of a long time in relation to their ages….and if that history includes numerous tries at AI…then more power to them.  Being so close to grasping your dream and then having it yanked away can be pretty debilitating….I applaud, with great fervor, those that try and try again.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S3ZGXZCUE2YYOS7QV6QSTKM4SA buffynut2001

OMG!! I am soooo excited for this show!! All the copies have made me realize how much I love Idol! (OK, I always knew I was a Loon, but know it has been confirmed!!) 16 more days!! Woot!

  • Anonymous

Tess – loved your first paragraph, and I was with you up until the “over-the-hill WGWG” comment :)…..at age 30, I wouldn’t call Josh over the hill lol…..and his ability to play a mean guitar (and not just strum along) and his ability to play a killer piano (not just a few notes to accompany himself) to me was a musician – the very kind of person I would hope to find on these reality shows.

but I was with ya on all the rest of your comments….. “too big for his britches” hahahahahaha…..grandma used to say that alot!

not about me of course ;)

  • Mateja Praznik

The thing is, often Idol/X Factor casting is not just about talent. On Idol, they usually desperately try to cover all the demos and often talented contestants get sent home because TPTB already decided to cast someone similar (better or not) that year or something like that. On X Factor, sometimes some categories are simply overcrowded with talent. Sometimes it’s just a matter of luck.

Haley Reinhard auditioned for season 9. The judges sent her home. One year later, she made it to third place.

Alexandra Burke, season 5 winner of X Factor UK, first auditioned for season 2 and made it to TOP 7  in 16-24 category (at that time, there were only three categories (16-24, overs and groups) on XF UK). Louis Walsh sent her home (Shayne Ward won that year and was also mentored by Louis.). Three years later, Alexandra returned, got to the live shows and won.

Joe McElderry originally first auditioned for season 4, but dropped out of the bootcamp because he thought he wasn’t ready. Two years later, he returned and won.

Sure, some try out for the same show year after year. I remember that girl from last year, Jessica Cunningham. She tried out for AI 6 or 7 times, got to green mile stage in seasons 9 and 10 and was cut both times.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“Since current Top 40 music is pretty much linked to electronic sound and

If you consider these artists as those with “non-existent talent”, then I totally disagree.  I also disagree with your generalized, denigrating, inaccurate description of “current Top 40 music”.  Yes, there is SOME Top 40 music that fits that description, but not the majority.

  • Kesia Monteith

    I think he was cut.

  • Karen C

Well I wouldn’t call 30 over the hill, but I agree with the rest of what you said. The top 2 of X Factor is essentially the same types we’ve seen win American Idol.

Wouldn’t it be more fun to get a talented newbie with some new thoughts about how to break into the industry…somebody who can take old material and make it relevant and current…somebody who actually has the “IT” that can make people sit up in their seats.

I agree,  and I think these are the contestants that end up having careers after the show is over.  People like  Daughtry, David Cook, and especially Adam Lambert. I don’t think we’ve seen this to the extent we had before in the past couple of seasons.

  • sagi

I just hope the judging is better this year. I still can’t forget JLo contradicting herself digging at Haley for doing a song nobody knows when she sang You And I(that she should do a song everyone knows and connects to), and then complaining that it was risky doing a song that was so well known when she sang Rolling in the Deep. I will never forgive the judges for their WTFery with Haley!

  • Kesia Monteith

My problem with older music on Idol is that they will only recycle the same songs over and over again. If they can license more than the catalogue they constantly reuse, and it happens to be older music, fine. And sure it is cool turning old songs and twisting them into something new, but it would be cooler to reinvent a current song into something else as well. But hey, I’m clearly in the minority, so don’t mind me, LOL. Plus there are more songs in current mainstream music that is not just autotuned or electronic, or a rap song.

  • Mateja Praznik

The problem is, Idols that get signed are expected to compete in the market with current TOP 40 artists. Well, unless they are in a country genre. But Idol can’t produce only country artists year after year.

There is also nothing wrong with electronic sound or even auto-tune (as long as it’s not used to make someone who can’t sing at all sound decent).  But these days using auto-tune and other various effects is simply the norm in pop music, regardless of singing ability.

After the show, it doesn’t matter if Idols can make old material relevant and current – they are expected to release new material. IMO, it’s all in the hands of label’s A&R to do what they can with the artist. Sometimes they can do a lot, sometimes practically nothing. I will let Syco and Sony’s A&R do what they can with X Factor alums.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

Yes, I heard Alex Wong was cut but I do expect some screen time.  He seems like a likeable, talent young man.

  • http://twitter.com/doesmonaknow DoesMonaKnow

If current music is so hopeless, then why bother with AI, other than to shill for soft drinks, phone plans and cars? No one coming from Idol is going to redefine music as we know it, or at least it hasn’t happened in 10 seasons. Idol wants someone who can join the current music scene in some way. I disagree that it’s all autotune and empty beats. Adele would have something to say about that. And something like “Without You” is technically a dance song but it’s also a love song with perfectly nice singing from Usher IMO. Bruno Mars is a fine live performer and I think he can write a good if melodramatic pop song. Lady Gaga may be on another planet, but she commits to her performances and I think she can sing pretty well.

  • Kirsten

Yay! Thanks for the spoilers. I really like it when we get down to a manageable number.

Time to have fun youtubing these people. It’s nice to see some of the old faces.

Haley Reinhard auditioned for season 9. The judges sent her home. One year later, she made it to third place.

Jordin Sparks didn’t make it off the field in one audition city and went on to win the entire show in S6 when she went on to audition in Seattle. There is some luck involved and lots of really talented people.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

THIS A11 should be really interesting because a lot of A10s are back, who were favorites and who came “this close” to being top 10.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

I always liked Deandre and thought he was HOTT.

  • Kesia Monteith

“After the show, it doesn’t matter if Idols can make old material relevant and current – they are expected to release new material. To add to that, I would not have cared too deeply if the winner does not sell all that great. I do care, though, that the debut albums that basically majority of the winners have made, are not up to snuff.

  • Karen C

Maybe the reason Chris Rene didn’t win wasn’t because of the type of music he does, but because the others were better vocally.  I don’t think he would have made it as far as he did on Idol because of that more so than the fact that he was a rapper.   If he was a superior singer to the others, as well as rapper, he could have gotten  the older demographic that votes for vocal ability as well as the younger demographic that likes rap, and probably won because in addition, he was the most original on the show.

I also disagree that the majority of music doesn’t feature vocals, because I have found very few artists right now that I could see competing on Idol.  I think Adele, Bruno Mars, and actually Lady Gaga would have been able to, but I’m not so sure if it isn’t the music they release that really differentiates them.

And I think this is why it’s good to have a show like Idol that features vocals in an attempt to make a current pop star.

  • Tess

So why is Adele a selling machine right now?….my answer is that she is not the typical Top 40 artist that is singing the same old, same old.  I believe that many people are just tired of today’s predominant sound and they would like more Adele’s to find their way into the market….but if the industry keeps putting out more (in my opinion) of the same how can Top 40 move beyond what has become somewhat stale and overdone.

Adele’s biggest asset is the fact that she can sing and that her words and sound have hit a homerun with the current Top 40 crowd.  So…Idol needs to find someone who can also bring “music” and “voice” back to being the focus…not find someone who sounds OK if they are electronically altered or assisted.  And singing the (again, in my opinion) current stuff that doesn’t allow a “singer” to shine and that requires all sorts of backing tracks and manipulation, isn’t finding us someone new…it just finds another imitator to throw into an already over-crowded mix.

I’ll take another Adele or a Bruno Mars…someone with talent that doesn’t come from a control board…but I don’t want an Adele or a Bruno copy cat….and if the Idolettes sing their music on the show that is what they have a tendency to become.  Familiarity often breeds contempt….and I think that Idol (though many songs are grossly over used) is on the right track when they don’t have the contestants just sing the “new” stuff….that only tells us that, like X-Factor, that these kids are only capable of singing covers.  If my favs can take something old and make it relatable….well then they have my vote.

  • Anonymous

Isn’t a lot of the songs contestants are singing on Xfactor (US & UK) from the same catalog we hear on Idol?

  • Anonymous

does Jordin Sparks count? She said she tried our before but I’m not sure how far she made it.

  • Kesia Monteith

Oh I agree, I really dislike the song choices on x-factor as well. I don’t think I ever complimented X-Factor on song choices. Anyway, who cares about X-Factor? LOL, that show won’t be back until the fall.

  • chessguy99

I’m guessing the XF MJ week pretty much took the thunder out of using that theme for Vegas week. I found it interesting that just a few weeks after the rumor of Idol using the Cirque du Soleil MJ show as a backdrop for Vegas round; that XF had a MJ themed week, using heavy reference to the Cirque du Soleil show. Just another example of the bad blood between Simon and Nigel.

  • Karen C

After the show, it doesn’t matter if Idols can make old material relevant and current – they are expected to release new material. IMO, it’s all in the hands of label’s A&R to do what they can with the artist.

If a contestant can work with the band, have enough knowledge of themselves as an artist to know what they want to do, and rearrange a song to not only be more current but to also show who they are as artists, they are the ones that have the skills needed to be succesful after the show is over.   The ones that have been able to do this have been the most sucessful, including the winners.

By the time the A&R would work with them the public will have already seen who they are as artists. And outside of Idol, they would have to have the same skills to be able to suceed recording career.

  • http://twitter.com/doesmonaknow DoesMonaKnow

Beyonce would have done great on Idol, unless Idol had planted stories with TMZ about her stage parents. :)

Usher’s another one who would’ve been amazing on the show, and Alicia Keys, though she hasn’t released anything in a while.

Adam Levine would have gotten the “cute guy” vote, but there would be complaints about his voice being thin and he might have rubbed some the wrong way with his sex appeal similar to Ace in his day.

Cee Lo Green can sing when he doesn’t scream but the looks and general over-the-top performing style would be an issue, plus he would’ve offended someone somehow before getting very far on the show, especially now that they let them on Twitter during the season.

Justin Bieber has a weak voice but he plays guitar and piano (and drums and trumpet but I’m not sure how those could be worked in on AI) and has charisma to a certain demo, so he would’ve done well even if not having been deserving necessarily.

I think if you look back at any era you will find popular singers who never would have flown on Idol for various reasons.

  • chessguy99

Jordin tried out twice in the same season. Because of her December birthday, she wasn’t 16 until the audition phase for S6. As for S6, she was rejected at the LA auditions and made it to HW at the later Seattle auditions.

  • Karen C

I agree, and I think that a part of the reason record sales for top 40 have decreased in general is because people don’t like what they were hearing. I think Adele’s success really indicates that people will still buy albums and singles if it is something they want to hear.

  • Valentin432

I don’t think there should be a debate about the relevance of AI on top 40.

AI contrary to the new shows has proved that ex contestants can have hit songs on the pop charts. Kelly of course has a long list of them but Jordin, Daughtry and more recently Adam and Kris have all had their share of hit songs.

Of course there are a number of current acts that would never fit the idol mold (rappers, Lmfao, …) but that was always the case. 10 years ago, there was Britney Spears, the boys bands, lots of pop-punk groups (Blink 182, Fall out boys, …), etc.

It’s no use waiting for a Nicki Minaj, Enrique Iglesias or Drake to come out of idol, it’s always going to be more about finding a Bruno Mars, a Florence Welch or a Kim Perry.

I’m guessing the XF MJ week pretty much took the thunder out of using that theme for Vegas week. Also, Glee is doing a huge MJ themed show at the end of Jan. that will feature 12 of his songs.

I’m glad Nigel changed the theme, because I’m already over the MJ thing.

  • http://twitter.com/doesmonaknow DoesMonaKnow

I’m glad Nigel changed the theme, because I’m already over the MJ thing.

Yes. Enough Michael Jackson. Plus, his style is not easily adaptable to all other styles, so it’s not a great general category for lots of artists to be able to do in one day in a sleep deprived state. I would hate for great contestants to be sent home based on too narrow of a theme. 50′s music may be a bit old, but everybody should be able to find a way to make themselves shine if they can.

We’re like fleas buzzing around their heads–A little annoying but barely worth even swatting away. Changing the theme due to an over-abundance of MJ on FOX right now is reasonable speculation.

XF having the entire Jackson family in the audience, including MJ’s kids, made anything Idol would have done in the aftermath look like imitation and too little too late.

Good point.  OK, now I think I understand why Simon went to all of the trouble to get the Jackson family in the audience (which seemed odd at the time) and get Katharine Jackson to promote the X-Factor on air by saying that she never missed watching the show (which I don’t think is true).  It was to make sure that any MJ tribute that Idol did would look “inferior”.  Is Simon that petty and competitive?  Is the Pope Catholic?  lol

I don’t know if Simon got the Jacksons to attend in person just to spite Idol but for additional star power and legitimacy. He is indeed that petty and competitive (remember those Scotty impersonations?) OTOH so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. :)

I’m so excited for spoilers being released!

I like Jessica Sanchez but i kinda doubt her appeal will get her really far. Anyway, I think her cover of Love On Top of Beyonce is a must-see.

I like Hollie Cavanaugh last season and I’m kind of disappointed that she did not get through. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea that she’s on Idol this soon. She could have waited for like 2-3 years more.

Something interesting about the spoilers is that there are 9 males who are minorities and 7 white males so far, a pretty even ratio. For females, Jessica Sanchez is half Filipino half Mexican, and Aubrey Cleland is half African American. Supposedly there is only one other black girl in the top 42. That means out of the 21 girls we could be looking at 18 white girls.

  • Kesia Monteith

I think it is kinda terrible about the girls. But there is still 10-12 more people to spoil, and we may not know the full detail about the contestants we may not know about. Could still be a couple more girls of colour to come in. But this has my issue with Idol for couple of years now, and its sad to see females of colour so underrepresented.

Yeah it makes me sad too. It is good that Nigel has finally put in a good amount of black males, but it seems like it means to him that they don’t need minority girls then. I do think Jessica will go far, and there was supposedly a standout black woman that hasn’t been spoiled yet, so hopefully even if there aren’t a lot represented some go far.

I just saw the YT of Jessica Sanchez’s Beyonce Love On Top.
She is good, but yeah, I think if she keeps all that mannerisms intact, I can see that she can get pretty annoying. It annoyed me already after a minute.

  • http://twitter.com/PhillyMike123 Michael

anyone have any idea who this girl is?? Please tell :)

jessica killed that song and a whole bunch of others. what is annoying to you is fresh and relevant to others. id rather her give me an all out performance than sing that song with zero emotion. then the complaint would be “oh she’s boring”. she will def go far in the competition if she makes the top 10. can’t wait for the season to start. with the spoilers list looking the way it is, its going to be a fun season! FINALLY a lil bit of urban coming to IDOL!

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that Jessica definitely has potential to go far on AI based on her cover of that Beyonce song.

  • Tess

I’m in Scott Dangerfield’s corner right now.  I think the guy has the “musicality” to go far and based on his choice of covers (Adele, Bruno) he gets where pop music should be heading.  And I like his look….call me a geek fan.

  • Mamei

i agree.  These shows need to be more creative and come up with some more original ideas for song weeks.  Many of the young people don’t even know these songs…but MJ songs would have been just as overkilled.

  • Mamei

Thats why it would make sense maybe to have an A&R person on the judging panel – or at least someone who will tell the truth and tell them what a record exec might say if they came to audition.  I didn’t like Jimmy Iovine at all last year; Im assuming he’s coming back.  Steven and JLO are never going to say anything negative for fear of hurting their fan base- they’re gonna love everyone and Randy after 10 years is totally incoherent and just says the same bs dawg stuff all the time.

  • Mamei

Well for FOX and TPTB, Idol is not designed to find a singing star…Its designed to be a successful TV show which it has done very well over the last decade.  If the winner sells albums and becomes a star, all the better. I don’t know how the contracts are worded and if Fox even gets a cut out of any of that…They just want high ratings so create drama and ‘moments’…  Most Idols will be forgotten after an album if they’re lucky to get that out…I would like to see the winner get something special – lately it seems once they’re down to 2, it doesn’t even matter who wins- they both get record contracts, they both get cars…so the winner gets a microphone trophy- big whoop…Maybe they get some more marketing muscle but I think it depends who wins (look at Adam L vs Kris for example and there are many others)…Even in the post-show appearances on Today Show etc, it seems the #1 and #2 often travel together.

I thought Brielle Von Hugel did a nice job last year when she did “Grenade” with Pia during Hollywood week. I’ll be curious to see how she fares this year.

  • janeygotagun

I can’t see Jim Carrey’s daughter on either of these lists

  • Kesia Monteith

There are some posters on a couple of blogs like Rickey.org and The Idol Pad, most likely just trolling and spamming, saying the list has a lot of wrong names. The Idol Pad is now double checking their sources, but I doubt this list will change much. Peeps at Idol Pad were chatting on their, well, chat box, lol, and a couple people mention two names might be wrong. I guess they’ll update the list later if anything comes up.

I did get the chance to hear three songs by Scott Dangerfield.  He IS a good singer and a writer to boot.  Now, I am wondering how he will wear his hair.  :o)  I  remember Jessica being on my list to make at least TOP 20.   It seems she wasn’t so fragile looking as on YouTube.

The important thing is if a singer is taking us up to the current play, he/she had better be GOOD singers.  I am trying to recall how much they let Blake Lewis get away with.   Then again, he’s definitely a good singer and added variety to Season 6.  In reference to the quote we’re not talking about any more, Blake actually was current.

I am prepared for Nigel to get more urban.  I also believe he is looking for a young lady of colour to take the whole thing.   There were some that weren’t very happy with the TOP 4 last year.  Also, I wouldn’t discount an Enrique Iglesias type.  Nigel may have some surprises up his sleeve.

  • Kesia Monteith

How does Nigel want a woman of colour to take it all the way, when there is only two rumoured blacks girls and Jessica Sanchez in the entire top 42 so far? There could be more, since there is 10 more left to spoil, but I doubt it.

    So far, I like:

Colton Dixon – glad he came back
    DeAndre Brackensick – him too
    Elise Testone – unique tonehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aackFkwKxJs&feature=plcp&context=C38c7ef9UDOEgsToPDskLZF57VXgfrbRq0lB0q1aLv
    Naomi Gillies – strong voice
Scott Dangerfield – soulful and beautiful

Based on the hate like with Haley and Lauren lat year Jessica will go far.The more people feel threatened over a contestant the farther they go :)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AP5IYKIADXUZ2JOQ2VOF76WOVE Sophia

    amen!

  • http://twitter.com/HaleysShindig Musicality

Thats why I’m on Jessica’s train already. Jimmy Iovine is gonna love this girl, which means Randy probably won’t. Which means I’ll get to yell at him again for a second season in a row. #itsahalienthing

I always thought they didn’t let Deandre in last year because he was just too pretty and they didn’t want another WGWG winning, although a country version of that did win anyway.  If he gets far, my guess is all the little girls and their momma’s will be voting their fingers off for him.

  • Anonymous

Ok I’ve read thru the whole thread and still don’t know, and apologize if this is the wrong place to ask, but what is WGWG?

  • Anonymous

WGWG = White Guy with Guitar. Often used to describe (sometimes in derogatory manner) Idol champs David Cook, Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze

  • Kylee

Also all lumped as soft rockers.

  • Anonymous

Which IMO is silly, since none of the three actually ARE soft rock types.

  • jga94

I remember Scott Dangerfield…he was good…looking forward to hearing him again….

Currently airing here in our TV is the rerun of AI10, in preparation for A11, and it is the HW Round. I remember I liked Colton and DeAndre (the falsetto during his group performance was really sublime). It looks like many are excited for Jessica Sanchez, and if she does really well (tip to TPTB: please, let the her be judged accordingly, as it looks like too much pimping can hurt, e.g. Pia Toscano) and mixes up her style (try acoustic, go diva, go upbeat) then she might be the Filipino-heritage winner I might be looking for (I hope Thia was, but she just doesn’t connect much during the live rounds, sadly). Also she might be the female current sounding winner that looks like the majority (hopefully) wants.

  • BonnieDee

I listened to Hollie Cavanagh on YouTube and she has a great voice.

Top 7 if this list is right: Jessica Sanchez, Chelsea Sorrell, Colton Dixon, Scott Dangerfield, Deandre, Baylie Brown, Hollie.

Colton Dixon isn’t on the list?  Sob and he just sang a cover of Cookie’s.
    BOO.

  • Anonymous

I think he goes under Michael Colton Dixon, who is in the Top 42 apparently.

I wanted this guy to hit Top 24 last year. Probably a good thing he didn’t since the Top 5 guys were pretty much set in stone after that night and I think he would’ve been cut.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/5OHL2GFK3TA6CEE7YPXBRRBFSE Dominique

Too bad i dont know over half of these people O.O

  • Anonymous

What happened to Travis Orlando (homeless boy who dropped out of school) Maybe I missed another list or something but I don’t see his name on this spoiler.

  • Anonymous

Yes, Colton is in the top 42 under Michael Colton Dixon. Noticed his sister didn’t make it however. Wonder how much family friction that’s going to produce. She was obviously peeved when he was invited into the judges room for the audition.

ETA: duh….just a little late on the draw. Don’t know how I got to this almost obsolete thread.

  • Anonymous

Maybe he didn’t make Top 60 (more like Top 68+)…

    common heejun han!

Colton Dixon did a Q&A on twitter last night.  Looks like he really did intend to sit this season out so he could get a record done this year.

    Hmmm…

  • LaLiliana

Would love to see a contestant win who can sing their a** off and get people dancing in the aisles. Rooting for Elise Testone or Jessica Sanchez.

WGWG are talented but I’m tired of sitting out in the audience. Wanna get up and move! lol. Need some soul and smokin’ performances on that Idol stage!
