OK. I try to maintain a certain dignity when it comes to Adam. But….. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be LIVING for the videos of this event.

Quote from The Mirror article “But I hear the jaw-dropping performance of the night will be from former American Idol contestant ADAM LAMBERT, who will join QUEEN on stage.”

    JAW DROPPING…. *ded*

  • Moria Polonius

A match made in heaven! I hope Adam will make Freddie proud!

Although that’s the Daily Mirror, preceded by “But I hear”…

I’ve been waiting for this day to happen ever since Adam sang with Queen during the Idol finale.  Adam’s vocals and stage presence were a treat that night.  My gratitude goes out to whoever thought to bring Adam and Queen back together for another go!  This time the entire world will be watching, and appreciating, the vocal perfection of Adam Lambert.

Please nail the vocal, please nail the vocal. Stay away from stairs.

HOW EXITING! yay! And on his anniversary.  He must be over the moon.

Adam & Queen . My imagination is running rampant at the thought of this performance. It’s going to be epic !

The rumor is that Brian May himself reached out to Adam for this. What an amazing full circle moment for Adam.

  • Moria Polonius

The rumor is that Brian May himself reached out to Adam for this. What an amazing full circle moment for Adam.

If that’s the case, the story of Queen asking Adam to be their new frontman sing with them will actually be true! I’m sure the whole story will come to light when Adam starts doing interviews.

    Bringing post from headline thread

Some tweets coming out from rehearsals. It’s no longer a secret. Also Adam is doing a set and not just one or two lines.

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

I have to believe that Brian May must have asked Adam since Brian loves Adam and Adam is not well known in the UK. Roger Taylor also thought Adam had one of the greatest voices he had ever heard so it all makes sense. And the fact that they already performed with him at the finale and know what he is capable of.

  • Fullmoon

Dear Adam: please stay away from stairs, whips, chains and dog leashes okay, thank you!

  • YeahRight

The Chili Peppers are performing?  Awesome.  Too bad I won’t be able to see it.

Anyway.  Hope they don’t mess up any of my favorite Queen songs.

This is awesome! Brian May was serious when he said he wanted to work with Adam! What an honor for Adam! I have no doubt Adam will do justice to whatever tune they collaborated! This is huge! And for us fans, how exciting! It has been a long time since we could flail, and I think my adrenaline is already pumping! :D

One can only imagine what is running through Adam’s mind right now. He’s going to nail it, and we’ll all be breathless when he’s through!

  • fuzzywuzzy

This is such a cool appearance for Adam!  Hoping for at least one good video of his and Queen’s performance.

Please nail the vocal, please nail the vocal. Stay away from stairs.

    lmao!  I share those sentiments.

  • Miss Chaos

So excited for this and now to share with the world the wonderful Adam Lambert that we all have known about for 2 years.  He is in a better place now than before the AMA’s 2 years ago, an almost sold out tour, a Grammy nod, a great first album with a new one coming out, guest on many shows,a handsome boyfriend, showing people believe in him, and now the world will get to share a performance that will be talked about for years to come.  This is so exciting.

  • TXsunshine001

    And don’t watch Gaga!!!

How can there not be a good video if the show is broadcast on MTV and VIVA and god knows what else?

  • Anonymous

Oh great. Before, I was a “voice of reason” (lol) and now, I’m a nervous wreck! Sheesh!

  • fuzzywuzzy
How can there not be a good video if the show is broadcast on MTV and VIVA and god knows what else?

Geez.  Don’t have a cow.  It was just a comment, not a criticism of European television or Adam’s European fans.

  • http://twitter.com/svmreiter Susan Reiter

The so many shades of awesome comment comes closest to my feelings!  Holy moly – certainly they will do some classic Queen songs – I wonder which ones we can expect?

  • Anonymous

For all of the hype that Adam got before the AMA’s this seems way bigger and more prestigious to me. Maybe he asked that it not be hyped? IDK but I hope he’s able to put all of it out of his mind and just do what we know he’s capable of. Maybe performing with Queen will actually help him since he’s singing as a tribute to them and not as his own solo act; he won’t feel so competitive?

Don’t know just rambling to myself, trying to fill time before tomorrow. I just want others to be able to see him at his best.

  • luly

Very exciting, I can’t wait to see this performance.

  • Anonymous

No this article isn’t saying Red Hot Chili Peppers is performing with Queen they will be performing on the show.

  • Anonymous

OMG … full circle moment from Adam auditioning for AI on 1-20-09 singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” to performing with Queen nearly 3 years later.  Hope he sings “Bohemian Rhapsody” with them.  FLAIL!!!!

  • Anonymous

Sorry but I don’t give a darn about any of these other artists appearing on EMAs especially Bieber or Gaga. These two are getting on my nerves and so over hyped.

  • Anonymous

If it is true that Brian May made all this happen, then we need to let him know how grateful we are to him.  It has been way too long since we’ve been able to be so excited!  Adam will do Freddie proud!!

  • Anonymous

    EEEEEEEEEEE ……. that is all!

  • Anonymous

    SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!

  • fuzzywuzzy

Hope he sings “Bohemian Rhapsody” with them.

I’m wondering if Adam will sing a medley of Queen’s greatest hits?  That would be amazing!

  • Anonymous

I have just sent in a request to the rock gods, so they can grant Adam all of their spiritual powers, so he can have an historic performance the world will never forget :)

  • YeahRight

I know that.  I can read.  I think it’s cool the Chili Peppers performing on the show. I know they’re not performing with Queen.  Even though they should.

But hey, Queen picked who they wanted to perform with so whatever.

  • Anonymous

Don’t worry.  I believe after tomorrow night it will be Gaga who?  Bieber who?  Adam was meant to sing with Queen.  I have no doubt he will do Freddie proud.

  • Anonymous

I don’t think he’ll feel anything like he did during the AMAs.  I really just think it was too soon for him to have gotten such a major gig back then and that all the hype he got coming off of Idol spazzed him out.  Add to that his anger at the Out mag. editor and his general anxiety about all the ridiculous hoopla over his “coming out” (even though he’d been out to friends and family and in his community for nearly a decade).   He has much more big time professional experience under his belt now, and I think he’s really matured a lot over the past couple of years.  I think he’ll do great and I can’t wait!!!!!

  • Anonymous

“For all of the hype that Adam got before the AMA’s this seems way bigger and more prestigious to me. Maybe he asked that it not be hyped? I’m feeling the same say.  I know it’s been two years since the AMA’s but I wouldn’t want this hyped too much either.  Adam probably wanted to sneak in there and do this thing unlike what they did to him before.

  • Anonymous

Hopefully all this lawsuit bullshit will not even be in his head.  Good luck Adam!

  • Moria Polonius

It was reported that Brian May contacted Adam personally that Adam’s mgmt wasn’t involved to make this happen.

Reported by whom? I’m usually fairly in the loop, but I missed this piece of information.

  • Anonymous

The rumor is that Monte told a fan back in the summer that Brian contacted Adam to do something with them in November.

  • Fullmoon

Is it too much to ask for Bowie to show up and do “under pressure” with Adam and Queen? OK I won’t push it. lol

  • Moria Polonius

Thanks, I usually don’t pay much heed to fan rumors, I must have cleaned my brain space. If that performance was in the works since summer, they would have had time to prepare, right? Has Adam been to England since then?

  • Nele621

Queen is performing a set, but that doesn’t mean Adam is doing the entire set. There could be other singers, and Adam is just one of them, kind of like they do at other events when they are honoring a singer/band.

  • Anonymous

OMG   I love the idea but I don’t know if my heart could take that !!

  • Anonymous

Tomorrow all that Adam will be thinking about is his connection to Freddie’s music so that he will sing like he’s always sung before, and afterwards we’ll all be so sismsdj’n proud, we’ll burst out in tears!

  • Moria Polonius

Queen is performing a set, but that doesn’t mean Adam is doing the entire set. There could be other singers, and Adam is just one of them, kind of like they do at other events when they are honoring a singer/band.

True enough. We won’t look the gift horse in the mouth though and take whatever they dish out together.

MJ, I hope this is not overstepping my boundaries and I know it is quite frivolous, but I am BORED seeing this particular pix of Adam used for nearly all his recent posts here.

Now I can breath I got that out of my system!.

  • Anonymous

Doubt that. Most of the peeps in the states don’t care about the EMAs.

  • Anonymous

How did you know this if I may ask?

And let’s say your assertion is even correct, how come almost all the USA music A listers are always trooping to perform or make an appearance at the EMAs.

I am sure they know it is a big deal and care, hence why they troop there and there are various headlines about the EMAs in the States every year. It is like the major US publications are always waiting with baited breath for the EMAs nominations and performers to make their headlines. So these tell me peeps in the States do care about it.

OMG I was going to go to bed after checking two hours of twitter and all I saw was flail over Adam and Sauli saying Happy Anniversary to each other, lol ( which is way cool in and of itself). Had no idea this was confirmed- thanks MJ!

  • Anonymous

Holy fucking amazeballs!  Yep, I think this is fabulous news.  Sorta expected it, but trying not to get all excited prematurely.  Just the idea that Adam is participating in this amazing outside the bubble event in the company of Gaga, Beibs, and the Chili Peppers is pinch worthy. Adam who?  Adam effing Lambert, that’s who!  Love it!

Yep, I haven’t forgotten how to flail too!

  • iani

“Most of the peeps in the states don’t care about the EMAs.”

EMA is an EU music-business and there are peeps to care about it. Many US big music acts go to EMAs not having a second thought, same for EU acts, everyone wants a spot for MTV Music Awards or AMAs, Teen Choice or whatever… I  think it’s a great honor for Adam of being asked sing/be part of  that Queen tribute,  great endorsement for him from the rest of Queen band.

  • Anonymous

I can’t wait to see what he is going to wear…

  • Anonymous

I’ve been thinking about that, too.  And I originally thought I didn’t like his hair (and the back-view that I saw posted somewhere was just ishy), but from the front it makes him look younger and fresh-faced to me.  His new avatar, which  sports the new do, is really handsome.

  • Anonymous

Late to the new post, but this is so exciting! I cannot wait to hear Adam sing again, it’s been too long. What’ll he sing? What’ll he wear? Will he give interviews? So many burning questions. About half a day now till they’re all answered.

You know, it really doesn’t matter if the other acts will have Queen on stage with them or not.  Adam will be the one that will be singing the most demanding of Freddie Mercury’s vocals.

  • Anonymous

“Queen is performing a set, but that doesn’t mean Adam is doing the entire set.”

This is from Today’s Daily Mirror:

“But I hear the jaw-dropping performance of the night will be from former
American Idol contestant ADAM LAMBERT who will join legendary band
QUEEN for a medley of hits.”

That reads like Adam is doing the entire set, but it is a tabloid, so perhaps that is just lazy grammar?

I’ve set my sights on a ‘medley of hits’ with Gaga joining them both for a finale of Under Pressure.  Yes, I know that is way OTT but when the bottom line is ‘singing with Queen’ everything else is frosting on the frosting!

  • cwm

  • TurkeyIdol

I don’t get all the secrecy surrounding this performance.  Does anyone have any theories on why MTV still hasn’t announced that Adam is performing with Queen yet.  Strange!

  • Anonymous

I think they just want it to be about Queen.  And they did announce that they’re receiving the award.  I’m sure they will say who’s singing tonight, and people will want to check him out if they like what they see, of course.  But at the end of the day, this is about Queen and Freddie Mercury.  As it should be.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’m very happy to have found a station that’s broadcasting the EMAs in my area!

This is from Today’s Daily Mirror:

“But I hear the jaw-dropping performance of the night will be from former American Idol contestant ADAM LAMBERT who will join legendary band QUEEN for a medley of hits.”

So Adam IS going to perform a Queen medley of their hits?  Wow!  This has the potential of being an incredibly memorable moment in Adam’s still fairly new career! My hope for him is to give the best performance he’s capable of.

  • sagi

Yes! I DO get to watch it on my TV!! I have 6 MTV channels and could NOT find it listed, well just checked again, and I have it on MTV3!! This is starting to be a good day already!! Can’t wait! Pressed record in case anything comes up, so I don’t miss it. :)

  • Anonymous

So Adam IS going to perform a Queen medley of their hits?

Well, it’s the Mirror which is not averse to printing rumors without verification, and that is how the quote is couched. So I’m cautiously optimistic about Adam maybe getting more than a verse or two!

This is like an actual fantasy come true. I can’t believe Adam is going to perform with Queen on a major world stage. Is this really happening?
I am dying to know how this came about. This can’t have come from Adam’s camp could it? Queen or Brian May had to have requested Adam do this right? Adam is more than worthy of this honor but I am so curious about the details too! OMG, I can’t wait!

    They like surprises?
LOL, I bet Adam was happy with the shroud of secrecy so he wouldn’t be inundated with questions about the performance. He would want it to be (as it should be) all about Queen, and I am certain he will perform in such a way that honors the memory of Freddie and the band. He is very experienced as regards allowing others on the stage to shine, from body language to how he moves around the stage.

Since he sang “Mama…” in his Idol audition I have wanted this to happen for him and that it is happening on a world stage is truly overwhelming. I hope that Queen has their “moment” and I will revel in Adam being part of it in whatever capacity he appears.
    Cannot wait for this!

Hype? What Hype? The fact that he’s singing with Queen has barely been mentioned by any press. What you are seeing is a bunch of fans flailing!!!! If you are not a fan and Adam is not your cuppa that’s fine. (since you can’t see my face or hear my tone; I’m not bashing you or your comments) For me having grown up in the 70′s Queen is huge. ETA so I’m slow

  • Anonymous

The fact that he’s singing with Queen has barely been mentioned by any press. What you are seeing is a bunch of fans flailing!!!!

And we’re small compared to the other fan bases.  I think.  I went to the MTV EMA site, where they have a twitter tracker — which is way fun to watch.  Anyway, they’re tracking fan tweets about the show and the clear popular favorites are Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.

Adam’s not even on the list, which makes sense since he’s a stealth performer.  But neither is Queen, which you’d think they would be.  Surprisingly, David Hasselhoff is currently more popular than Rihanna, Beyonce, or Britney Spears.

Could be another just discovered singer, and not Adam. Not saying Adam is not singing, but could be another singer who will do most of the singing. Haven’t they been auditioning for a Queen band and some amazing singers auditioned?

The most popular tweets are about Selena and J. Bieber, yet you are surprised that people aren’t tweeting about Queen?  This is a group that some people were mocking just last year, because, according to these people, they haven’t been relevant in decades, so why would they be a popular twitter topic, along with more current acts?

  • Anonymous

Does anyone know if Marc Martel will be there?  He sounds just like Freddie.

  • Anonymous

ty Studio57! I found the listing!! Its on TWC @6pm channel 167 in NYC!

  • Tess

My sense of logic, with the obscure tweets and Adam flying to Great Britain, that he is going to be doing more than singing a line or two as a montage of singers honoring Queen…and since this is an “honorary” award for Queen I don’t think they will be trotting out “new” bandmembers….I am sure they looked for someone who can emulate Freddie’s voice and his contribution to the band for this special night…and my vote is definite that Adam fills that bill nicely.

And Marc Martel does a nice job of covering queen but he doesn’t have nearly the range or the vocal flexibility that Freddie and Adam have.

  • Anonymous

What people?  People on this board?  I think most artists and groups have fans and non fans.   I also suspect most of Queen’s fans are older and I just don’t think they would take to twitter flailing.

  • AdamsGirl

Ha ha!  Yes, please BB, stay away from the stairs!!!

Adam sings with Queen on his and Sauli’s One Year Anniversary of Love … and it’s my birthday today too!  This is gonna be the icing on my cake with a big juicy cherry on top!!!

This is going to be as iconic as Freddie himself and I know he personally ‘chose’ Adam to stand in for him in the physical world onstage later today but I am sure that Freddie’s soul will inhabit Adam’s body in the ethereal and spiritual sense.

Adam will make Freddie proud, no doubt about that whatsoever … this is one for the ages!

Go, Adam, Go, BB ….. FTW!

No, Queen is having a reality internet competition and sending a complete tribute band on the road. That is the competition Marc martel tried out for. Who knows he could be part of the tribute too. He sings STL fabulously.

  • Anonymous

I agree.  I was just wondering if he would be there too.

  • justshootme

And Marc Martel does a nice job of covering queen but he doesn’t have nearly the range or the vocal flexibility that Freddie and Adam have.

I agree.  TO ME, Marc Martel comes across as a Freddie Mercury impersonator.

  • Tess

Yup, studio57, I think peeps are confused as to what Queen is putting together.  They aren’t looking for peeps to sing with Brian and Roger, they are putting together a sponsored tribute band to help keep their music alive just like the tribute band who does Pink Floyd.  I don’t think this performance at the EMAs will be about introducing any of those guys.

We seem to forget that Brian issued an invitation to Adam to sing with him and Roger at a one-off gig when he worked with Adam on AI.  I think this is the result of their conversations 2 years ago.

according to these people, they haven’t been relevant in decades,”

I don’t know who “these people” are, but great music is timeless. Queen’s music fits the bill. IMHO, it’s better than all the current fluffs add together. Even their name is not trending on twitter. LOL
Under one of the Queen’s YouTube clip, someone wrote “Dear Lord, I offer you a good pair of? Jonahs brothers and very healthy Justing bieber and a slightly mad Lady gaga for just ONE Freddie Mercury. Please accept the offer. Sincerely, Queen fans.”
    My sentiments exactly

  • Anonymous

What do you mean by people mocking them for not being relevant as I have not read the mocking anywhere myself. Link those places they were being mocked please so as not be completely out of the loop.

And sorry, auguementably (sp) the biggest pop star of today i.e. Gaga got her name from that band and contactly references them as being her strongest influence, same with Katy Perry. What could be more relevant than that?

It is like someone mocking Madonna for not being relevant because she has not put out a record in years. lol

Aren’t the A listers gathering to honor them too? What could be be more relevant today than that. Even Gaga is rumoured to be doing one thing or the other with them on the Awards show.

The fact remains in the music biz, there is something called legends. Their body of work has  ensured that A listing for them forever more. Any top star of today would jump at an opportunity to play with them on a world stage.

Adam is lucky to be that honoured and recogniized by them at that world stage level.

  • Anonymous

“This is a group that some people were mocking just last year, because, according to these people, they haven’t been relevant in decades,”

Neither have The Beatles, but people with mature tastes understand the relevancy of  the bands that came before that brought sweeping changes to the music scene.  Queen is being honored tonight because they are up there as one of the greatest rock bands in the history of rock, not because they have some pop ditty currently getting spins on CHR.  While I understand the Beliebers and Selena fans taking over Twitter today (and I am currently glad I’m not the parents of a tween-aged girl because the ear-splitting shrieks would drive me insane) anyone who doesn’t understand the relevancy of Queen needs to get busy downloading “A Day At the Races” or watching the Live Aid performance.  I suspect that after Queen performs on the EMA’s, there will be Twitter buzz.

If Adam is performing a medley with them, it is a huge deal.  It’s also a huge risk.  Die-hard Queen fans are very protective and particular. Some will never be satisfied with anyone at all singing in place of Freddy.  But, that’s okay.  If the band members of Queen selected Adam, they obviously felt that he’s a gifted enough vocalist to hold his own.

  • Anonymous

yeah Tess, but that tweet that Hoff sent out about a new cool lead singer has me scratching my head. Unless Hoff was confused and Brian May meant tonight. Now I is all confuzzled. AGAIN. ;)

  • AdamsGirl

You just hit the proverbial nail on the head.  That is absolutely true.  It will be A.D.A.M  F.  L.A.M.B.E.R.T that will make the entire performance noteworthy, memorable and have tongues wagging for days about his incredible talent.

No one else can hold a candle to Freddie’s ‘alter’ like Adam can and will.  Iconic, I tell ya … it will be ICONIC!

  • http://twitter.com/lorismile1 Lori

All these rumors, and comments, and praise has my head spinning as much as my stomach!!

  • AdamsGirl

Just a gut feeling, but I think the reason why it hasn’t been ‘officially’ announced is because it is going to be so special with Adam actually channeling Freddie that it’s being kept under wraps …. until, of course, it leaked out.

Gaga and others may be singing with Queen but it will be Adam’s ‘performance’ of Freddie and his tribute to Freddie that will be the highlight of the entire night.  It could not be more perfect.

  • AdamsGirl

The only thing I can think of to say right now to John Kearns latest tweet is this:

You’ll know who ADAM. F. LAMBERT is after today, adamlevine!

  • Anonymous

I wanted to reply and not like this comment. Well since there is not ‘dislike’ botton, I guess that is my loss.

Anyway, I don’t agree with you. Adam unlike Gomez and boyfriend was not officially announced to be performing. Those ones with the likes of Bruno and co had been publicly announced long before Adam took to the twitter to hint about his appearance.

Maybe it is meant to be a secret since almost everyone has been coy about it?

And lastly of course Bieber and gf has a bigger fan base. And that too might not be entirely true as I read Sia appears somewhere on the list. I don’t believe her popularity or fanbase is that big also.

  • Anonymous

“blockquote>What do you mean by people mocking them for not being relevant as I have not read the mocking anywhere myself. Link those places they were being mocked please so as not be completely out of the loop.

You won’t have to look far to find one of the places.  But, the mocking probably didn’t have anything to do with Queen personally, it was more like people being upset with one of the members shooting down the idea that they would just automatically make a new singer and former reality show contestant their new lead singer.

BTW, I’m not putting down Queen, they are great.  I was just wondering why someone would be surprised that tweets aren’t being made about them, especially when that person points out that the top tweets are about Bieber and Selena Gomez.

  • Anonymous

I would also want to know how relevant Selena Gomez is. This is a girl that barely charts anywhere music – wise. Oh, she is relevant because she was/is a disney star that dates Bieber. And that makes her bigger than Queen. lol!

  • Anonymous

wat?  Adam’s not going to be channelling Freddie or performing as Freddie .LOL.  It’s not a biopic. this award is about Queen and their amazing songs and contribution to music, not Adam. He’ll sing the songs as himself, with his great voice.  But he’ll be respectful to Freddie and his legacy.

  • CindyM

You won’t have to look far to find one of the places.  But, the mocking probably didn’t have anything to do with Queen personally, it was more like people being upset with one of the members shooting down the idea that they would just automatically make a new singer and former reality show contestant their new lead singer.

You’ve got me stumped here. I remember Adam always answering that Queen didn’t ask him to be their lead singer, but did talk about doing something together. I remember Brian May and Roger Taylor enthusiastically praising Adams voice multiple times and saying they wanted to work with him. I don’t remember this that you’re talking about. I do vaguely remember some nonfans of Adam saying “who cares” and putting Queen down as non-relevant when the praise was made, tho. Is that what you meant? Confuzzled. Maybe I missed something, tho.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

I’d guess from Adam’s tweets and other tweets that this is bigger than Adam singing three lyrics and leaving the stage. Even sharing stage time with Queen for thirty seconds would be incredible.

The show has a huge audience. Queen is one of the greatest bands ever. Adam’s voice is a perfect fit with their music. May loves Adam. Adam loves Queen. I love Queen and Adam. This is beyond perfect!

    I’m SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    …and really nervous :/

  • Anonymous

Queen seems to get the hype and chose him among the lots in the world. That is more important an attention/recognition for him.

Also EMAs is a big deal. He is performing among the top stars of today. That also is being out of Idol bubble!

  • Mateja Praznik

Actually, Selena is quite relevant. She released three album in less than two years and is a decent seller.

  • Anonymous

    Could be Lady Gaga

  • Anonymous

Darn it!  I was hoping Gaga missed her flight and wouldn’t be there trying to hog the spotlight as usual.

  • Anonymous

    Hi, Owanbe.

I don’t mind if you dislike my comment, but it seems like we’re actually in agreement.  I noted that Adam isn’t listed anywhere as a performer, and you’re noting that Bieber has a larger fan base.

In any case, I’m not trying to denigrate Adam or Queen, I was just supporting the idea that, although we’re terribly excited, the greater world is probably going to be quite surprised tonight when Adam sings.  And to add a few facts about what was trending about an hour ago.

  • Joyed

I’m really looking forward to seeing the video of this! :)

  • Anonymous

I’m tired of all the speculation.  I’m just gonna wait another two hours and enjoy the show and see what Adam will be up to.

And I can’t wait for Adam’s performance, as much as Lady Gaga’s.  She will rock it.  As well as Coldplay.  The EMAs are awesome!  And I’m so happy that Adam is part of it in whatever manner.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

I agree that people will be surprised, and imo surprise is exactly what they’re going for.

  • HotHotHot

This is so exciting! I feel like I’m going to explode! I can’t get it on TV. Hope all the streams don’t crash!!!!!

  • Anonymous

I knew about all that. Her songs don’t chart that high is what I meant. And she hardly charts at all in Europe except if you are basing her relevance there on Disney which my earlier post aknowledged.

And her trending on Twitter does not elevate her to Queen status who someone here said they have not been relevant in decades.

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

The detractors can try but they cannot rain on this parade. Queen is considered by many to be the greatest rock band of all time and out of all the people in the world they could have chosen, they personally asked Adam, a reality show contestant, to sing with them.

As for the person who thinks Adam has not had a decent performance since Idol, just YouTube the hundreds of performances on his world tour and on the various TV and radio shows around the world. The US isn’t the only place he performs. His performance of WWFM on Idol got him #10 placement on Billboard Hot 100 and that single’s sales is approaching 2 million. So it must have been much more than “decent”. He was the only Idol who was able to headline a mostly sold out world tour on his debut album and was the 2nd highest earning idol last year ($6 million). I am not sure how he would have been able to do that if he hadn’t had a decent performance since Idol.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EZQNCTEA6RRJPLKRZEKWIKGQEY Anonymous

Yeah, a medley of we will rock you, bohemian rapsody, radio gaga and somebody to love… Wishful thinking…. Finger’s crossed. Rgds, Axxxel

  • Anonymous

I am yet to read what you are saying anywhere except if you mean how the best form of knock down a non fan gives someone that has been praised by Queen is by saying they are not relevant.

That aside, Gaga the no 1 pop singer today draws her name and inspiration from Queen and loves to be seen with them, that is a major relevancy there.

Lastly, Adam performing on such an international platform is a big deal. No two way of spinning that relevancy about him. He is relevant enough to be given such an opportunity  out of the lots. lol

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EZQNCTEA6RRJPLKRZEKWIKGQEY Anonymous

I saw Adam & Co doing a more than decent live performance in Singapore last year…. Rgds, Axxxel

  • Anonymous

I think they kept it under wraps because they didn’t want it to be all about Adam and probably Adam didn’t want it to be either.  This is a tribute to Queen and Freddy Mercury and Adam is standing in for Freddy who is the real icon so they don’t want to make it about Adam.  I do think this is Adam’s chance to really shine after the AMA debacle and I hope he stays calm and does his thing like I know he can.  This is a huge, huge honor for Brian to want Adam to stand in for Freddy during the tribute.  It’s just amazeballs!  I’m just melting with happiness over this because Adam is finally getting the chance to show what a tremendously talented singer he is.  Go Adam!

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

That’s great, Axxxel. I have seen him live 13 times, including Fantasy Springs. Whole Lotta Love was way more than decent. :)

  • AdamsGirl

I didn’t mean ‘channeling’ in ‘that’ sense at all.  I just meant that Adam is going to ‘feel’ Freddie’s presence all around him since he’s such a huge fan.  I meant it more in a spiritual sense than ‘channeling’ in an impersonator sense.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

Re Queen vs Gomez, all imo, but if Adam were slated to sing an hour-long set with Gomez on the Emas, I would, as his fan, be kind of depressed. I mean…ok, I’d be happy for the exposure, but coming here w/exclamation marks? No.

This is all opinion. People have a right to feel that Queen is a passe, irrelevant band, and that Adam’s (or Gaga’s) singing with them for a tribute on the Emas is ho hum. Yay for freedom of speech.

  • LaurelG

I think they kept it under wraps because they didn’t want it to be all about Adam and probably Adam didn’t want it to be either.  This is a tribute to Queen and Freddy Mercury and Adam is standing in for Freddy who is the real icon so they don’t want to make it about Adam.

I agree with this.  Plus, I interpret the Hoff’s comment “cool new lead singer” as a reference to Adam, but since I don’t expect “the Hoff” to be wired into Brian Mays’ future plans for the band, I suspect Adam is just the cool new lead singer for the night.

And an incredibly huge night it is.  I am both excited and skerred for Adam, hoping it will go off without a hitch with no technical problems, no miscues.  This is a huge honor and he is completely deserving of it.  And, there is no other way to spin it.  Gaga, Coldplay, the Biebs.  This is totally outside the Idol bubble.  :)

  • Anonymous

So do any of the live streams cover the red carpet? Trying to find the red carpet.

  • Anonymous

I would love the new lead singer to be Adam.. but I’m not going to get my hopes up… coz the new lead singer could be GAGA .. singing Radio Ga-Ga..

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

I can’t imagine Gaga being their official lead singer. tbh, I can’t imagine Adam, either, as he’ll soon be promoting his new single and album. So…time will tell? Btw, either performer can do it. Both Gaga and Adam can sing paint off walls.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’m wondering if Gaga may show up as one of her alter egos to perform, possibly with Queen?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

I think she will! I LOOOOVE her, so can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

IMO there is virtually no chance of Adam becoming a new “lead singer” for Queen- they don’t even tour anymore.
He could do the odd one off performance with them but honestly- his own solo career is about to launch its most important era and he has enough on his plate.

  • HotHotHot

I’m wondering if Gaga may show up as one of her alter egos to perform, possibly with Queen?

I hope not, because this isn’t about her, it’s about Queen.

  • Tess

I don’t think Queen with Brian and Roger will ever “tour” again and so there is no need for a bass player and a lead singer on anything other than a one-off gig.  I just find the term “new” lead singer to be a pretty big misnomer.  If “Queen” performs it will be with a guest artist and not a new member(s).

The last Queen concert (including John Deacon) was in 1992 as a tribute to Freddie and included the following guest performers: Elton John, Roger Daltrey(of The Who), Tony Iommi (of Black Sabbath), David Bowie, Mick Ronson (of Spiders from Mars), James Hetfield (of Metallica), George Michael, Seal, Paul Young, Annie Lennox, Lisa Stansfield, Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Joe Elliott and Phil Collen (of Def Leppard), Axl Rose and Slash (of Guns N’ Roses), Liza Minnelli.

ETA – Great tribute to the amazing, iconic Queen — which was the point of the performance :)

  • Anonymous

OMG!  I’ve been out of town, and I returned to an Adam explosion!

I was nervous, but he was incredible!

ETA: It was all about Queen. If people don’t know who Adam is, they will be able to EASILY find out.

Soooooooooo proud of Adam!!!!!!!!!!!! AS A DIE HARD FAN OF Queen for many years I can say he was great. Not exactly Freddie, but no one could be. He was Adam in top form. Brian and Roger looked very happy. It was a wonderful, memorable experience.

(I fid it interesting that he didn’t get a mention by name though, most times Queen performs, its billed as Queen, featuring “singer so and so”)

I like the pictures of him on the red carpet. The shoes were umm.. interesting. At least you couldn’t miss him. No blending into the woodwork for him, that’s for sure.

Maybe Adam asked not to be singled out – in respect for his respect for Freddie – but this performance did have his signature “Ladies and Gentlemen” written all over it!

  • Tess

The best part was that Adam paid his personal homage to Freddie and Queen by not being announced as Adam Lambert but just part of “Queen”.  That is selflessness at its best because the tribute wasn’t about Adam but about the band.  Kudos, Adam.

  • cwm

That was unfreakinbelievably awesome! Adam was totally in the zone and the rock gods were with him. Flawless vocal, superior showmanship, fabulous look. Three songs!! I am so proud to be a fan.

anyways,  those who wanna know who he is which are a lot seeing from twitter can google. And he was mentioned in the beginning so I’m not irked about the non mention of his name.  It was a tribute for Queen after all.  He made Freddie Mercury proud,  that’s for sure.

Well Queen were one of my all time favourite bands .Adam did a great job here-although of course no-one can really replace Freddy . If he did more music like this I would actually buy his music ,just don’t like the dance music he does!! It does seem that Adam was told to emphasise Queen here as it was their tribute . The only thing that would have been perfect for me is if John Deacon [the Bass player]had come out of retirement to play!

  • Anonymous

Oh, I am not upset about his name not being mentioned. Especially if it was part of the opening credits. It was Queen’s moment to be sure. I’m just pointing out that that isn’t the band’s norm. It is usually (I am not going to claim always) “Queen and……”. This time it was simply “Queen.”
Again, I am nothing but happy!

So one of my fan-dreams came true: I heard Adam singing Show Must Go On! It could only get better if I could hear that LIVE. But oh well, we can’t have everything.

He OWNED that stage, wow. I can’t wait until he’s got new music to perform and goes on tour. Maybe the stage and audience won’t be as big, but dammit, he needs to be performing, stage is where he belongs!

Thanks, Nele621. I find most people who dislike Adam or feel he is overrated have no idea what he is capable of because they never bothered to listen to his pre or post Idol videos or have seen him live. As others have said, he sang like this on his tour almost every night and was dancing too. Also, please YouTube “Adam Lambert Brigadoon”. Have you given Adam’s album an entire listen? It’s not all dance music. There are several ballads (Broken Open, Soaked, Time For Miracles, Load Smile), some mid-tempo (Sleepwalker) and his big hit WWFM was not a dance song. YouTube “Can’t Let You Go”. It is a rock ballad that was a bonus track on the European album and it is my favorite song he put out post-Idol.

First let me say something. It takes BALLS to even try to step into such an iconic figures shoes. Freddy Mercury is not only one of the best front men ever, but also one of the best vocalists ever. Queen songs are part of the fabric of popular music. Adam is the next generation, and I think Brian sees that. I want Adams coat lol, and I thought he looked fresh, young and hip. Vocals were spot on, and I could tell Adam was in the zone. Hopefully people who might not know who Adam is (if that’s possible) will be looking him up to find out! So it’s kinda good they just announced them as Queen, because people are going to be like WHO WAS THAT SINGING? Now, time for that new single Adam! :)

Ohh.. Blower.. Thank you! I really appreciate to hear it from a die hard Queen fans. I’m a HUGE Queen fan myself, but I also a fan of Adam since he sang that BoRap on AI audition. I also think nobody.. I mean nobody can replace Freddie, and Adam himself said the same thing… so I don’t think they will have new frontman and Adam want to persue his own career.. but like Brian & Roger said 2 years ago, they would want to work with Adam in special occasions… like this performance or a short tour. So.. there, I think it will work well.. whenever they need the frontman or lead singer they can always have Adam and for sure Adam would not say NO to his Idol, Queen.

Blower, your reaction’s of this performance with Queen actually what we, most of if not all of Adam’s fans expect to get from people that have never or reluctant to hear his vocal ability or his talent just because he’s from a reality tv show or because he’s too flamboyant or other reason they might have. I guess you’ve never seen him performed with Queen on AI finale before.. but that’s okay.. maybe now you could check all his YT, like other suggestion here.. you can check “Can’t Let You Go”, a great rock balad or ‘Brigadoon”, etc. Plus the boys at DDD forum have him on Vocalist/Frontman/100 Most Technically Skilled Male Rock Vocalists thread and analysis his vocal ability and technique which way over my head, but still love to read :)

  • sdmama

How could everybody involved keep this scale event in complete secret to the end? O.M.G.  I was waiting for this since the AI Season 8 ended, and have given up on it. My deepest thank you to Brian May. This die hard fan of Queen and Adam may not be able to sleep tonight.

  • sdmama

The live stream from MTV chopped off everything except for the last 20 seconds of We Are The Champion.  So initially I thought, boy, did Adam go to Belfast just for that? PLEASE do not do this when they air it on TV. If they do, we are going to have “Occupy MTV” by mad Glamberts.

Thank you Adam fans for being so nice (esp under the circumstances). I still can’t get myself to watch his tour youtubes nor his  CD. Maybe in due time. I’m just touched by his powerful EMA performance, and I will watch that over and over for awhile. I also agree Adam is no Freddie, doesn’t sound anything like him, but he did justice to the Queen songs that I haven’t heard anyone do. (Hello Voice, I’m talking to you.)

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

Amazing… absolutely amazing!  This will add so much to Adam’s European fan base.  What a perfect vehicle to display the talents of one of the best voices in popular music today.  Bravo, Adam!

I don’t like comparisions between Adam and Freddie.  In the past, critics and fans made comparisons between Freddie Mercury and Roy Orbinson.  You just cannot compare – they are their own person.  One thing all three do have in common is the operatic vocal range!  Fantastic singers…

Adam was his awesome greatness.   As the Queen frontman, he and the boys stopped the show.   It was one of the grandest moments in music.   The iconic Queen picked the right person to showcase their amazing music.   And all those people who say Adam isn’t really a rocker needs to have their ears checked.

  • http://twitter.com/Shandy82165 Stacy ingham

Lambert did his Lambert thing.  And he did well.

But given a side by side comparison, there is no comparison.  Freddie is the be all, end all.  There’s a reason why their gig at Live Aid was named the world’s greatest live gig.

But good for Adam that he got this opportunity.

  • Anonymous

That’s okay Nele, maybe in due time you can come to see him live. His voice live’s much more powerful than on TV or YT, so if you’re impress by that Adam+Queen YT, I can just imagine and very jealous actually for the people that can hear him singing with Queen Live, because it’s going to be 10x maybe more..  betterer than one we heard tonight… But agree bout The Voice (Levine & gangs), they shouldn’t touch Queen’s songs. Not IMO as Queen fans anyway :)

  • Anonymous

No, Lambert is most definitely not Mercury, and I don’t think he was pretending to be Mercury. He could have done an impersonation, but he was too respectful for that. The performance was a tribute to Mercury, not an attempt to outdo or replace Mercury. No one could do that.

Mercury is gone, and it’s a tragic loss. At least an excellent singer who worships Queen got to front.

  • Anonymous

Stacy, I’m a HUGE Queen and a fan of Adam as well.. A lot of us would never compare Adam to Freddie, even Adam doesn’t want to be compared to Freddie, because for him Freddie is untouchable and his Idol. He’s not trying to be Freddie, he’s just being Adam Lambert that want to honor and paying tribute to his Idol tonight and that’s a huge differents

  • Fullmoon

Any talk Queen had with Gaga about fronting the band is out the window. It is about the VOICE not the spectacle.

  • Anonymous

“But given a side by side comparison, there is no comparison.  Freddie is the be all, end all.  There’s a reason why their gig at Live Aid was named the world’s greatest live gig.”

I totally respect this opinion, Stacy. You are right. There will never, ever be another Freddie. I think Adam Lambert would agree with you.  Tonight was about paying tribute, not replacing. Since Freddie is one of Adam’s personal idols, I suspect he was humbled to be asked and felt honored. It was obvious to me that he put every bit of heart and soul he had into that performance. He seemed to be striving for vocal perfection, not for himself, but to honor Freddie. That’s why it was so compelling.

And thank you for mentioning Live Aid again. I really hope some of Adam’s young fans check it out. I remember watching it while it was happening. OMG.

Stellar performance by Adam! He killed it! He should be very proud and I’m sure, so are his fans! What an honor they bestowed upon him and he delivered big time!

I think what I like the most is that his name wasn’t even mentionned and that made the performance even more awesome!

  • Anonymous

Freddie’s and Queen’s music should not be frozen in amber – should we go only to a museum to see We Will Rock You?  Interpretation – and re-interpretation – is the lifeblood of music.  Freddie’s performances are absolutely magnificent, but they are of a particular time.  Lambert is doing Queen a favor by bringing them into the new century – just as he did with Bowie on the Idol Tour.  One may not like Lambert’s takes on these songs, but they are worthy of consideration.

  • http://twitter.com/Oshi4Real Oshianna

Read on Lynsey Parker’s Reality Rocks tonight that, despite Adam denials that it was all a rumor, Queen DID ask Adam to front Queen after Idol!!! Now what is Adam gonna do??? The world is his oyster. Best male vocalist alive in the world today!

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

From the comments on the video, it seems like many Queen fans do not want anyone ever to sing Freddie’s songs. So this means no Queen songs should ever be performed live again. Queen should not put together that tribute band if the die-hards don’t ever want to hear the old Queen songs played live again.

Eternal optimist/Dreamer here …. I absolutely loved that Adam was introduced as QUEEN.  Maybe Adam was introduced as QUEEN because they are going to do a few appearances (short tour) and Adam would be a part of it?  It would be great PR for his next single and album.

  • http://twitter.com/aayyaass ayas

    O…M…G…not 3line…3song..bravo..ADAM

  • superfudge

I thought it was incredibly underwhelming. The best thing about Freddie was that he could be theatrical yet raw/gritty. Adam’s voice is just all theatrical. There’s no rawness or grit there. They might as well have been performing with Lea Michele.

I think Queen just need to hang it up and pack it in. Maybe start another project if they want but let Queen rest in peace with Freddie.

  • YeahRight

Oh, please.  Yesterday, someone on here said that Freddie himself gave his blessing over the performance.  Gave Lambert his blessing to do the performance.  So, nobody wants Lambert to replace him?  Please.

  • Anonymous

But good thing is.. it’s not their decision, is it? It’s Queen’s decision to ask Adam to sing and perform with them.

  • Anonymous

“From the comments on the video, it seems like many Queen fans do not want anyone ever to sing Freddie’s songs. So this means no Queen songs should ever be performed live again. ‘Tis true. What are you gonna do? I knew die-hard Queen fans weren’t going to be happy. I know a few. So what? Let them wallow. It’s about QUEEN and the music, not them. Adam was very modern tonight. Muse-like. Maybe he’ll direct some younger people to Queen’s music.  If not? Who cares. Queen is iconic. They don’t NEED Adam. Adam, on the other hand, truly benefited from tonight. He was incredible. He did exactly what he needed to do and more. If the die-hard Queen fans choose to be pissy about it all, let them. Personally, I think it was win-win for everyone tonight.

Yes I did watch some of his post tour videos & mostly didn’t like what he was singing & I find he overdoes some songs .The way he sang with Queen here was just right -so as to not overshadow Bryan & Roger’s music . Its my personal opinion of course but I wish , like others he would do more of this sort of music & he may then appeal more people.

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

I think you are misinterpreting things. I didn’t see the original comment but did that person actually say that they wanted Lambert to replace Freddie? Saying that Freddie gives his blessing is not saying anyone wants Lambert to replace him, just that Freddie would most likely not have a problem with hearing his songs interpreted by someone like Adam. Most Adam fans I know do not want Adam to be the front man for Queen. They want him to establish his own career as a solo artist, and he is doing that just fine.

  • YeahRight

If I felt like looking for it, I would.  But it’s true.

  • Anonymous

She said “A lot of us would never compare Adam to Freddie,” nothing about about “nobody [wanting] Adam to replace him.” I don’t remember the comment you’re speaking about, but I’m sure there are fans fanatic enough to say things like that. But “a lot of us would never.”

Qualifiers are always tricky, I know.

  • judes

Yes I did listen to all the album & I know its not all dance music & I actually did get WWFM which I liked but I didn’t like any other songs on the album. My point was -if there was more songs like Queen I would consider buying the whole album .

HAHAHAHA.. I’m a Queen fan too. what i said earlier’s nobody can replace Freddie.. that’s a big difference. I don’t want Adam to replace Freddie. I want Adam to have his own career. Anyway.. nothing’s going to ruin our happy day today and next week… hee..

    Yeahrighrt
Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you’ve said, but I’m curious.  Freddie Mercury died 20 years ago this month.  How did he give his blessing to a very young Adam Lambert (not sure how old Adam is, 29? So he would have been 8 or 9 years old) to do this performance?

  • Anonymous

When Adam yelled “come on people” …. I wondered if he was going to yell JUMP next  :)

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

You have a right to your opinion, but from all the tweets I have been seeing from the press and people in the business, they are overwhelmingly positive. :) Even a die-hard Queen fan from Digital Dream Door who couldn’t stand Adam said it was much better than expected and gave credit where credit was due.

  • judes

Great points . I am a die hard Queen fan who isn’t really a fan of Adams but agree its  a good idea for Queen to use him on special occasions. I am a fan of Michael Johns & he also did a great Bo Rap in Hollywood week & sang We Are the Champions on the AI tour. Adam & Michaels voices are different but both do justice to Freddy’s legacy of songs.

  • http://twitter.com/lufflyness Jenna

Maybe I’m reading your post out of context and I don’t know what you mean but isn’t Freddie Mercury dead? So did he give Lambert his blessing from beyond the grave?

  • CindyM

Eh, I’d rather Adam do the music he wants to do.  Classic rock music isn’t exactly selling alot these days and heartland rock is not Adam.  There are also certain obstacles Adam would have in getting accepted by the rock community, among them being from Idol.  Thank God there are different types of music, I love Adam’s theatricality, his vocal acrobatics and his charisma.  He can wail with the best of them, yet sit on a stool and sing beautifully acoustically.  Not everyone can do that and do it well.  Adam can.

What means a lot to me is that Brian May and Roger Taylor selected Adam to sing these songs.  Some people here said Adam was so unimportant he might get a line or two in a medley. Not Right, Wrong! Those two men performed with the original and WANTED Adam to perform the songs.  They both loved Freddie.  They know there’s no replacement for him, but they felt that Adam could do the music justice.  No one else’s opinion is more validating towards Adam than those two people IMO.

  • judes

Well I’m the same as Blower[can't speak for them though] but I have seen all those performances but usually find Adam is too OTT for my taste -that’s what makes this performance different-he didn’t go too wild on the whaling – he used his voice for what it should have been a great tribute to Freddie.

  • Anonymous

Adam’s vocals faltered in several places. He’s also not very good at the rapid fire phrasing in “We Will Rock You”. Karaoke-ish, once again.
He didn’t manage to capture the meaning and emotions behind Freddie Mercury’s incredibly written lyrics, and as it is, the performance felt empty and lacked power.
Love knowing that he had fun, though.

  • Anonymous

Not really about Adam or the performance but I read an article about the show itself. Even though it’s the European Music Awards only two non-American acts won awards on the show – Queen and some Korean Pop group that beat Adele in the category it won for !!!

So can we all agree that in general American music dominates the Pop scene overseas.   And by American I am including Bieiber. ;)

  • judes

These tweets only amplify what I was saying -that he should be doing more of this type of music to reach those who don’t like his previous music-adds more variety.

  • YeahRight

That’s what I want to know.  I didn’t say it.  Somebody else did.

  • Anonymous

So can we all agree that in general American music dominates the Pop scene overseas.   And by American I am including Bieiber. ;)

They certainly did this year, though for clarification, anyone anywhere in the world could vote and was not limited to Europe. So, on country specific award shows, you’d see it skew a little differently than here and have more artist from that country perform/win.

  • Anonymous

Unless Adam  joins Queen and they write new material,  music of this quality is pretty hard to find. That’s the biggest challenge for all artists – finding the great songs.

Well Zsus -I am a diehard Queen fan & not really a fan of Adam’s but I don’t begrudge Adam doing this as it was a very special occasion for Queen. The only other thing they could have done was to have Freddy performing on the big screen with Brian & Roger live  but I think having Adam had more effect on people.I agree it was a win-win for everyone .

  • Anonymous

I’m guessing fans of Bieber and Gaga in the States voted (they have huge fanbases) but I doubt most Americans bothered to vote for the EMAs.  They probably saved their effort for the US version.

I am pretty amazed that a Korean Pop Band beat Adele.  Either they’re huge in Europe or their fans outdid themselves in online voting.

  • CindyM

Judes, Why though? If he did that he’d probably lose the pop fans he has now.  There’s music out there for everyone, why should he change the type of music he performs to please a few?  You’ve said time and again that Adam isn’t for you, he’s too OTT.  Well, that’s how he likes to perform and that’s where his heart lies.  I think his fans appreciate that and the way the music market is right now, rock is not that popular.  You’re from Australia if I remember, right?  He went platinum in Australia with FYE.  A rock album may not have done that well.

  • judes

One thing I’m confused about MJ-when you press reply to someone does that mean its posted under that person & at the end of the thread ?If so I’m sorry it looks like I am spamming the thread -I didn’t mean too-didn’t know my comments would be posted twice!

  • Anonymous

Brian wrote We Will Rock You and Show Must Go On.  The latter, Freddie was never able to perform live because of his health.  Freddie did write We Are The Champions though, so 1 of 3.

Adam had fun, Brian looked pleased, the audience enjoyed it, the press is good. I don’t think you can ask for more than that.  These aren’t Adam’s songs, but he more than did justice to them.

ETA: Freddie was on his deathbed recording Show.. you really expect Adam to be able to convey that on an awards show? Expectations much?

  • windmills

I thought Adam did well :) He kept it pretty simple and faithful and he sounded good. I enjoy whenever he does this style of music.

You should check twitter if you think Bieber and Lady Gaga’s fan armies from the US didn’t vote. Lol. It’s impressive how organized they are. I saw where some Bieber fans had a schedule to vote for this and the OMAs. No doubt they’re extremely big in Europe though, it’s just that you’d see a better representation of country specific popularity if the voting had been limited to those countries.

But hey, they like to be known as the global award show and US does have the largest music market :)

PS. KPop bands have rabid online fanbase. Similar to 30 Seconds to Mars. Having a big internet fan army always helps in these types of award shows.

Oh wow. I just watched the Queen performance.  For some reason it made me really emotional.  I really love Queen.  And seeing the surviving members of the band playing…and Adam singing with them,  I was nearly in tears.  Adam isn’t Freddy Mercury. He is Adam Lambert. And I can’t imagine Freddie being at all upset by the tribute Adam payed him tonight by nailing that medley. What an honor it must have been for Adam.  Lovely moment.

Apparently 58 million votes were cast for Big Bang.  They becoming pretty popular in Europe and Latin America (believe it or not); but they are MASSIVE in Asia.  The Asian fans go hard for this sort of thing.

Adam Lambert Lends Voice to Queen for MTV Europe Music Awards Performance

The most notable thing about his performance was that Lambert did not make the slightest attempt to diminish Mercury’s genius by trying to duplicate him. Instead, he infused his own brand of genius into the arrangement. It was an homage to one of Lambert’s admitted heroes and a golden moment for he and his fans – perhaps for some Queen fans as well.

I watched the EMA’s as I get the station on MTV TR3. I’m sorry, I like Adam Lambert but really not a fan ( not really a fan of any of the Idols)………but….that said that performance by Queen and Adam Lambert was by far and I mean by far the best performance of the night.! GaGa did her usual weird over the top performance that was well ..weird. Did she fall off that globe thing? She kind of disappeared for a minute and the cameras cut away. Come on GaGa it’s getting old. Bieber was good and Selena was good. Red Hot chili Peppers were good. LMAO was well not so good. But the performance by Queen and Adam Lambert blew me away! All I can say is wow just wow!. Will I go out and buy Adam’s CD. No… Lol…sorry Glamberts. But I will go now explore his music and cherry pick. I have to say though that performance just floored me. Congrats to Adam! I knew you had talent but wow oh wow! You dude have some bad ass singing chops!

“I’m old enough and lucky enough to have seen Queen in concert several times. My favorite band growing up. I’d heard about this guy Adam Lambert a little but didn’t know much about him. When I heard he was going to sing with my favorite band, I thought it would be a disaster. Some kid who was trying to be another Freddie. But, I had to watch, it way my band.. They were great. But, I have to say, that kid was phenomenal. He knocked me off my self righteous pedestal He’s not Freddie but I don’t think he was trying to be. He has his own style and a voice like I’ve never heard before. Not Freddie, but just as good. I looked him up online and saw some of his other performances. He’s really got talent. You can bet I’ll be following his career from now on.”

Okay reading through all the comments someone said earlier that we still have Friday and next Sunday to look forward too.   I know Adam’s Majors & Minors is next Sunday but what event is next Friday?  Doggone it I thought I was finally up on everything!

Thanks for your comment. Check out “Can’t Let You Go”. Pure rock ballad. You might like it. :)

As far as I’m concerned, Brian and Roger chose Adam to sing for them and, for me, that takes precedence over any complaints people have about Adam.  I am so grateful that Adam had a second chance to blow the roof off the place and I believe this time he did it.  All he needed was great songs and his voice to show the world what he is capable of.  Hopefully this will help him join the ranks of those less talented peers of his who win all the awards.

SO busy—just now able to watch the performance again (thanks, MJ!).  It was absolutely perfect.

And, seriously, thank you American Idol for for bringing us Adam Lambert :)

CLYG is beyond beautiful.   Bought UK CD to get it and the other three that weren’t on the US release.  That and the Studio Version of FG are how I introduce people to Adam.  So far it’s worked.  (Use the Brigadoon track, too.)

  • Anonymous

OT, but I am still so surprised that after all this time a video of the Brigadoon performance has yet to surface.  Certainly someone taped the show.

ADAM WAS SO AMAZING OMG HIS VOICE IS UNBELIEVABLE.

I love listening to Queen and Freddie Mercury can’t be replaced but Adam totally did justice to those songs and the crowd loved him and it seems like most people consider his performance amazing and the best of the night and Brian May loves him and OMG HE WAS SO GREAT. :D

“Will I go out and buy Adam’s CD. No… Lol…sorry Glamberts. But I will go now explore his music and cherry pick. I have to say though that performance just floored me. Congrats to Adam! I knew you had talent but wow oh wow! You dude have some bad ass singing chops!”

lol ituneit this was so cute.  I mean obviously it would be totally 100% fine if you didn’t like the performance at all, but it’s cool that he was so good that he’s getting people who aren’t normally fans to check out his music.

    Soaked from “Glam Nation Live”
Brigadoon (Come to Me, Bend to Me)

That opinion appears to be shared by a minority group though. Actually, never mind.

The most important opinion that matters in this case is; one of rock globa icons love his voice enough to let him represent their band on a world platform. That is a major validation and recognition right there. And to cap it all, the reviews around the world have been glowing and positive.

    You go Adam!

Did not like his vibrato either.. but for the rest he was great great great !! Rgds, Axxxel.

Finally got my husband to give this a listen.  (He isn’t a huge fan of Adam’s, mostly because he isn’t a fan of “pop” music.)
Hubby thought Adam sounded really great, not like Freddy, but good on his own merits.  And he also thought Queen’s type of music is perfect for Adam to sing and asked me why Adam sings that “poppy stuff” when he can front a rock band?  sigh/LOL

  • gabilan

That doesn’t surprise me in the least. KPop in general seems to have a
massive following all over the world. They’re one of the most tumbled
    topics, for ex.

This makes sense. I was on a German site trying to find a working ustream before the show and all these commenters were excited about something called the “Big Bang.” I’d never heard of them before and my German reading skills are pretty rusty, but I figured it was a band and not a bunch of German physicists who stumbled onto the wrong website. Now I know…don’t mess with the Big Bang (or their fans).

In reference to brancelli’s list of recommend songs:

I think this is a great list — and includes some of my favorite Adam vocal recordings.

I do not believe, however, that most Queen fans would love these performances.

I think “Whole Lotta Love”, “20th Century Boy” and “Enter Sandman” are better recommendations. Not they do not have the vocal perfection of “Come to Me, Bend to Me” but that is not what most classic rock fans are looking for.

  • judes

Cindy I wasn’t meaning he had to change totally to rock ,just to add some variety to his repertoire which might add to his fan base in the US. Yes I am from Australia & we love rock here as well as pop-so once again if he did some rock songs he may also add to his fan base here. All I am saying is that he has a great voice for some rock songs & its a pity if he doesn’t also pursue that as well. I’m fine if he doesn’t want to -just seems a waste to me that’s all.

  • Anonymous

agreed, I was just recommending songs that showcase his vocal control.

For rock, I recommend Gridlock Whole Lotta Love and Crawl Thru Fire, but the latter might not be very palatable, though vocally it is insane.

  • Anonymous

If you think his vibrato sucks, then you really know nothing about vibrato. Sorry, I can’t put it any other way.

  • Anonymous

The kind of rock you want from Adam isn’t popular anymore.  It won’t sell.  The only way Adam can do rock now is in his concerts and with a one off performance like he did tonight with Queen.  He needs to be relevant on his album if he wants it to sell.

  • Anonymous

    Judes,

Adam does do rock songs — he even put 4 rock tracks on his debut album. He also performed these in concert. (Of course, the Howard Bensen rock version of “Aftermath” was quite drab compared to the Glam Nation Live version. JMHO YMMV.)

But Pop music is the #1 genre in the world now — and there is little commercial space for new versions of classic rock.

  • Anonymous

But Pop music is the #1 genre in the world now — and there is little commercial space for new versions of classic rock.

The very definition of Selling Out.

  • HotHotHot

Not really selling out because Adam loves pop and I believe may actually prefer pop.

  • Mieps

I would definitely prefer him singing rock, but unfortunately he made it clear from the very beginning that he didn’t want to do that. Immediately after Idol he described what his dream CD would look like, and the end product very much met that description.
Therefore I would say he’s not selling out. He’s doing what he wanted to do all along. Just because he can sing rock, doesn’t mean he has to do it (although I do think there should be a law against that!).

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

How is Adam selling out when he never said he would do a rock album, he always said he liked pop. That’s what he himself listens to. He likes classic rock, but not stuff like Nickelback. What kind of market is there for classic rock? Also, they don’t even play Daughtry on rock radio, why would they play a gay guy from a reality show?

  • Anonymous

I’m getting that sense of Déjà vu again.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, it’s silly to think Adam is selling out by doing pop when he’s loved pop since way before idol and always said he wanted to do it.  And while i love him on songs like this and he was totally awesome, I love pop music too.  So if we get excellent pop music that shows off his voice, I’m good. :)

  • Fullmoon

Well Adam already said he hates Nickelback rock and that is as far as rock will get commercially. He loves pop music so to him he is not selling out. Eventually he will get tired of pop and move on. The advantage Adam has is he is very versatile and although he sings pop he is more know for having one of the best pop/rock vocals and I think these one off performances prevents him for being boxed in one genre or another. Even the media can’t make up their mind in labeling him. You always hear him referred as pop, rock or glamrock artist. I think down the road when he is more established and leans more rock the rock community will embrace him more easily once the whole Idol thing is a distant past. Whenever he does anything rock like on his tour and like today’s performance the rock sites are quick to post his videos. They know he has the goods but he also needs write good rock music.

  • Anonymous

I have not read the entire thread — so I clearly miss your point. I thought it was a recommendation list for someone who was not familiar with Adam but liked him tonight.

I now realize that it was a list to demonstrate Adam’s vocal technique. Ha! Perhaps a hearing aid collection is in order. :)

In any case, Rock greatness is not about vocal perfection, not about technique.

    ———–

For me, Freddy Mercury was great because of his power, his energy and his ability to grab hold of a huge audience and completely command them and unify them.

He had a massive vocal range, amazing power and was an stunningly creative vocalist. But in the end it was what he gave to the audience that mattered.

Bowie famously said of Freddy, “Of all the
more theatrical rock performers, Freddie took it further than the
rest… I only saw him in concert once and as they say, he was
definitely a man who could hold an audience in the palm of his hand.”

I was lucky enough to see Freddy live a few times — no one is like him.

Adam was brilliant tonight — he is a gifted vocalist — but his brilliance tonight was in deciding to not be anyone else but Adam Lambert. IMO that was a wise decision but that took a lot of guts.

Adam reminds me of Freddy — not as a vocalist but because he has the similar power to literally control an audience. I stood in the pouring, cold rain amidst lightening with 9,000 other people watching Adam perform in Ste. Agathe de Feux, Quebec last summer and the whole crowd just stood watching Adam perform as if the sun was shining — transfixed.

Adam also can hold an audience in the palm of his hand.

I think that is why it was so fitting that for this one important night, Adam was part of a rock band named QUEEN.

  • Anonymous

As I read it — the point was…

There are lots of rock fans, Adam should do more rock music because he would get more fans.

I questioned that logic because there are tons of people putting out rock music and relatively few people buy it.

    —-

Adam is Executive Producer of his next album. He is writing and recording what he wants to. There is no selling out involved as far as I can tell.

If Adam wanted to put our a rock album, I am sure he could. But he said that the next album will be electro/pop, not rock.

  • superfudge

Idol will never be in the distant past. Kelly Clarkson still can’t run away from it. If he’s after hardcore rock fans he’s already alienated a portion of people by going electro-pop. If he tries to break into the rock community he’ll get slammed as a poser. Pretty much anyone from AI trying to break into the rock community gets slammed as a poser. AI is a cheesy show that produces manufactured pop stars. It’s basically everything rock music is against.

    All Adam.

He loves his electro pop, I love it too. No complaints from me.  Live shows will rock it out.

  • fuzzywuzzy

From the comments on the video, it seems
like many Queen fans do not want anyone ever to sing Freddie’s songs. So this
means no Queen songs should ever be performed live again. Queen should not put
together that tribute band if the die-hards don’t ever want to hear the old
    Queen songs played live again.

Meh.  I’ve seen exactly the same sentiment
from rabid Glamberts and other Idol fans about their favorites.  Every fanbase has these kind of fans.  They’re entitled to their opinions,
even if I totally disagree with them.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Boo, Much Music in Canada cut Show Must Go On, started with We Will Rock You.

That’s too bad.  I was wondering about whether they would cut the finale since they seemed to be running overtime.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Oh, please.  Yesterday, someone on here said that Freddie himself gave
his blessing over the performance.  Gave Lambert his blessing to do the
performance.  So, nobody wants Lambert to replace him?  Please.

lol  Did Adam conduct a seance to get Freddie’s approval?  Personally, I thought Adam did a great job and as much as I enjoyed his EMA performance, I’d prefer to see him continue to build a solid career as a solo artist, rather than be known for fronting Queen.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Even a die-hard Queen fan from Digital Dream Door who couldn’t stand
Adam said it was much better than expected and gave credit where credit
    was due.

I’ve stopped going to DDD because there’s a very nasty, BSC  Glambert there who is dominating the discussion and annoying the regular members.  It’s unpleasant and I feel sorry for the longtime members there.

  • Anonymous

And so where’s that new single?

  • Anonymous

Not really. The definition of selling out would be choosing to do something other than what you want in order to make easy money. In this case, Adam was going towards CHR long before he was on AI. Now, had he started off before Idol saying he wanted to do hard rock, then I’d agree with you. However, he didn’t.

  • Anonymous

10 hours and several hundred comments later…and I still haven’t changed my opinion. That was fucking perfect. The vocals were perfect, the stage presence was perfect, the outfit was perfect, the non-intro was perfect. What a  perfect way to put the European music viewing public on notice, without detracting from the stars of the performance at all. Phenomenal.

He totally hit that one out of the park. He hit it out of the time zone, actually.  And to think a week ago I was just starting to think he might actually be attending the EMAs. Ha!!

  • fuzzywuzzy

Adam had fun, Brian looked pleased, the audience enjoyed it, the press
is good. I don’t think you can ask for more than that.  These aren’t
Adam’s songs, but he more than did justice to them.

That pretty much sums it up.  :)  It was a cool performance.

  • mmb

That was really fantastic! I’m a huge Queen fan and a huge Adam fan and the two of them together at an award show arena concert? Awesome! Brian and roger still play and sound great. Adam looked terrific and sounded even better. For probably only a few hours of rehearsal they seemed really comfortable with each other. The EMAs were terrific overall- a much tighter show than the VMAs. And Adam and Queen gave the best performance of the night IMO.

  • fuzzywuzzy

As far as I’m concerned, Brian and Roger chose Adam to sing for them
and, for me, that takes precedence over any complaints people have about
Adam.  I am so grateful that Adam had a second chance to blow the roof

Hopefully this will help him join the ranks of those less talented
peers of his who win all the awards.

I’m a fan of Adam’s, and I agree with everything that you wrote except that people are still entitled to their own opinions about any artist, no matter who endorses them.  Musical tastes are subjective, and although it was a great honor for Adam to be chosen to sing with Queen in this tribute (and a tribute to his talent) and I think that he did a phenomenal job, I acknowledge the right of each individual to have their own opinion about any artist that is valid to their own tastes.

LOL. Just read the rest of the thread. Some interesting opinions; obviously not everyone hears and sees the same thing.

So what’s next? Some press over in the UK? Personally I want to hear some sort of quote from Brian May or Roger Taylor on why and when they picked Adam for this. I am amazed that  Adam (who, let’s admit it, is a bit of a blabbermouth) was able to keep this under wraps. :D

I agree with whoever mentioned the DDD vocalists board. Unfortunately, the Adam thread  was overrun with ill-mannered glamberts a while back, so the conversation isn’t worth following anymore. It’s really a shame, the technical experts there really knew their stuff.

  • luvadamlambert

This is kind o full circle again for Adam to be performing a song by the same band whose song he auditioned with
Adam looked and sounded epic, but of course that’s to be expected, I mean it’s Adam :P

    Interview with Brian and Roger.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ente…

Thanks for posting that!  Adam was also part of that interview and his comments about singing with Queen, and the influence that Freddie has had on him were very well expressed.  Adam also very deftly referenced the sexuality issue and how things have progressed since Freddie’s time.

  • Anonymous

I personally hope he never gets tired of pop and I’m positive he won’t because Adam LOVES pop and who thinks otherwise is in denial, I think.

I was 1 when Freddie died.  I was never exposed to him.  He rocked this performance but it’s a one off show.  Adam will move away from this classic rock and towards the sound of today because he’s not actually dumb and he loves that type of music.  Luckily for me and a lot of others who started stanning him because of his own pop music and not because of hopes of him turning towards rock.

Roger Taylor: “…and to have our brilliant, genius friend, singer adam lambert here, wow what a voice, one in a hundred million.”

  • Anonymous

fuzzy, would that BSC Glambert happen to be one that has the name of the current band in question in their nick? if yes, then I have to agree with you, I loved going to these forums before, but now I´m just ashamed to be a fan at all.

  • Anonymous

Must be the number of comments but the page is really loading slow now.

Anyway, everyone is of course entitled to their opinion and likes/dislikes. What is incontrovertible is the fact that Brian and Roger were happy last night. They were happy to be there, happy to win the award, happy to perform AND very happy to have Adam sing with them. As others have said that speaks volumes to me. Go get em Adam. He’s definitely gained new fans from this.

I wonder if this performance is one reason they delayed the single release? Maybe it just coincidence and good timing but I bet we see a single this Friday!!  Or very soon anyway. You just can’t beg, borrow or steal this kind of promotion and buzz. Only because of his talent.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Yup.  That kind of Adam fan is an embarassment.

  • Anonymous

It’s an interesting discussion.  In one of Adam’s first interviews after Idol, with Slezak, he described how his album was going to be pop.  He has said many times that he grew up with pop music, Michael Jackson and Madonna were two of his biggest influences.  But, he loves rock, too. Particularly classic rock and “theatrical” rock like Mercury and Bowie.  And I have no doubt that at some point in his career he will put out a rock album.

Having said that, I can never understand when people describe FYE as strictly an ”electro-pop” album.  There are rock tracks on that album.  Time For Miracles is rock, Aftermath (although with crappy Benson production) is rock, Sure Fire Winners is rock, Sleepwalker is rock.  And, Can’t Let You Go is about as straight-up rock as you can get.  Doesn’t mean people have to like these songs, but they are rock.

eta–and how could I forget, his biggest hit, WWFM, is your basic HAC pop-rock

I think when a member of Queen says all those thing about who they picked to pay tribute to HIS band, any comments to the contrary are instantly invalid. His band. His rules.

I seriously wish another Adam fan would just go on there and give it to her. She single handedly ruined that site for me. I LOVED listening to those guys discuss not only Adam but other rock acts. Why hasn’t she been banned?

  • Anonymous

Sorry to be OT, but that particular poster totally ruined that site for me as well. Way back when, many Adam fans were aware of and actively following the discussions on that site, but were smart enough not to jump in. That was the beauty of it; a large number of individuals with no interest in Adam personally (and lots that didn’t like his style or anything) simply praising his technical virtuosity…with no BSC hyperbole. Ugh. I was so disappointed when ignorant, rude fans started invading it.

  • Anonymous

I would like to say I was disappointed by one thing last night…. I wanted more, much, much more of Adam and Queen together. So much better than many of the other acts last night.

  • Anonymous

I wonder about this too Chicagolaw. When you think about how  a lot of non-fans used the non genre specifc nature i.e. it being multi genre of FYE to bash it, it becomes a big wonderment (sp?) how the tune has totally changed to he produced completly an electro/pop album.

His best known single is not even straight up pop, but more of pop/ROCK.

I also remember people likeing his wanting to make a multi genre album then as him tailoring his career vision after Taylor Hicks and even predicted he would end up like him too here. Now, it is all about how he promised them a rock album, but delivered straight up pop album.

Count me as another that hates what that BSC fan did to the Adam Lambert thread on the DDD forum.  She is insulting to anyone that doesn’t herald Adam as the best evah,  and Adam doesn’t need her to defend him…

Anyway, back on topic, I can’t stop watching the Queen and Adam video.  He really did am amazing job!

  • Anonymous

I’ve stopped going to DDD because there’s a very nasty, BSC  Glambert there who is dominating the discussion and annoying the regular members.  It’s unpleasant and I feel sorry for the longtime members there.

I love that place.  I don’t dare post, because they really know what they’re talking about, voice-wise, and I only know what I like… but I love reading their analysis and it’s educated me on some amazing singers.

As for the unpleasantness, I think they’re familiar with BSC-ness.   I mean, you have to be a bit BSC to obsessively compile lists of the “top 100 rock vocalists” and argue over whether X should be #30 or #31 on it. :)  When an Adam fan gets out of line, they just slap them down and continue on their merry way.

They keep charge of a list of Adam’s best performances..  They wanted to put up a Top 10 Live Performances, but couldn’t limit it to 10.  It’s currently a Top 21 and there will probably be a lively discussion over the next week about where to slot in this Queen performance.

  • Anonymous

Whenever I see Adam’s performances like this I get a little disappointed because they’re SO GOOD, but none of his album songs compare to this. My favorite songs from his album have a spacey-rock edge to them (Soaked, Broken Open, Pick U Up, and Sleepwalker), but I can’t really stand most of his album as I find it too pop-ish (although If I Had You is a guilty pleasure). Looking at his album vs. his Idol performances, I’d definitely go for the Idol performances, although I didn’t like them initially. I wish Adam had more of a Muse-ish sound without being too copycat. Muse is my favorite band, Adam Lambert has said they inspire him, and Adam even sang one of their songs for his album.

Power to him to do what he wants, though. Personally, I hope he finds the balance between the “rock god” that he was touted to be on American Idol and the “pop god” he wants to be. Or at least that I find that he finds that balance during his next album.

Adam’s probably just better live to me. Watching him perform all of his album songs live was much better than hearing them on the CD in part because it was slightly less electro.

That said, Adam’s performance with Queen was beyond AWESOME. The “We Will Rock You” part was a little awkwardly and unintentionally hilarious because Adam sounded weird doing it, but everything else was just perfect. I almost wonder what would’ve happened if Adam really did front for Queen (Personally, I think it would’ve been AWESOME), but eh, career-wise I’m not sure it would’ve been the wisest move. Too much “He’s not Freddie Mercury” would’ve ensued. Who knows, it could’ve been great.

  • Anonymous

Overall many positive tweets, many positive press mentions, and many, many more “likes” than “dislikes” on the YouTube of his performance. It’s a win! IMO there are some who are simply disappointed that he DIDN’T bomb.

  • http://twitter.com/sagajo saga

OMG, that Adam fan on DDD is so ANNOYING. She/he kills all discussion, I hate it. Bleh.

  • Anonymous

Probably because the majority of it is electro-pop, and even some of those songs you listed have that influence in them even if they are rock songs, IMO. Can’t Let You Go and Soaked are probably the only songs on that album I’d say are purely rock. Sure enough, those are my two favorite songs from Adam’s album, and one of them is a bonus track in another country…. right? Or is there a way to get it in the US?

  • fuzzywuzzy

Adam’s name and a pic were shown in the opening credits under “special appearances”.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“When an Adam fan gets out of line, they just slap them down and continue on their merry way. ”
lol  I think that they may keep the BSC Glamberts around for amusement and mocking, but it’s still a turn off for me personally.

  • Anonymous

I don’t understand why we’re trying to justify Adam’s genre and trying to make it more rock.  I’m proud to say  his genre is NOT rock.   I don’t need to go round abouting by saying some songs in his album were rock.  The majority was electro pop with rock elements, not rock music.

This next album has very little rock if we go by what Adam has said.  I can’t wait.  Rock is so overrated.  All the big stars are not doing rock for a reason.  I’d think Adam’s fans would be ecstatic he’s not doing anything rock, not the contrary!

  • http://twitter.com/wanermania k w

I am sorry but Adam’s albums will never be as good as his live performances!! You just can’t capture it on tape. His live performance are just amazing to me. You have to see him to get the whole experience. I loved all of his performances on idol, but the studio versions were just ok to me. I think he needs the audience to feed off of. I love Adam LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weather in person or on TV.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“I’d think Adam’s fans would be ecstatic he’s not doing anything rock, not the contrary!”

I think that a lot of older fans Adam had from Idol and the tour loved his performance of WLL and mistakenly thought that his album would follow this theme musically (=classic rock).  IMO, it was more about nostalgia for them. and they didn’t hear/misunderstood/were in denial about how Adam repeatedly described his debut album (=pop), so were disappointed when it didn’t meet their expectations (based on assumptions and misperceptions).

  • Anonymous

People who want Pop success  have do songs that will get played on Top 40.  Adele broke through doing her own thing but that’s a very rare event. Rock songs just won’t get you on the charts.  This is a real problem not just for Adam but for other artists who excel in genres on Idol that aren’t pushing tons of units today.

Actually, I take that back because I think Adam wants to be a Pop star so doing that genre of music isn’t really a “problem.” It might be a problem for some fans though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashetalia-Staatz/100001792695528 Ashetalia Staatz

Re “none of his album songs compare to this,” of course none of his album songs can compare to three of the best songs ever composed in the rock genre. I think this is the problem with expecting Adam to do “rock.” Those who want rock are thinking of some of the greatest songs ever written, songs that are impossible to duplicate, and then wondering why there are no new songs just like those in Adam’s album.

Adam’s said that classic rock is classic, can’t be copied or recreated. He has said, for over two years now, that his favorite genre is electropop, and that he has no intention of making a rock album. He enjoys singing it, and turns many of his songs “rock” in live performances. “Rock,” though, does not characterize fye, and probably won’t characterize his next album.

I’m very glad that he thinks this way, as “rock” on top 40 today is soft rock, or bowdlerized Bon Jovi. Contemporary top 40 “rock” is my least favorite genre of music, along with country.

  • Tess

“Rock” fans, even those of the younger persuasion have a tendency to still listen to the rock gods of old and don’t seem to embrace, with the same enthusiasm, the few good artists and bands that work the rock scene today.  I don’t think I have gone to any club with a garage band and heard them play “current” artists…they tend to rely on the tried and true since that is what their audience seems to want.  During my formative years radio played more rock than anything….top 40 was equal measure rock, pop, and motown….now you hear very little “rock” of any kind on top 40.

A “new” Artist…especially a solo act…just doesn’t have a current, active audience if they choose to go exclusively rock.  Music has evolved, what with the inclusion of hip hop and rap and electro sound and electronic back-up instead of drums and guitar.  For an artist, like Adam, to get a wider, more current audience he has to record music that will get played and will be appealing to those that spend the dough for music.  He wants to be part of the current scene, not a throw back to an era that had its wonderful time in the sun.

That being said, all things musically are cyclical so the rock we loved from the 70s may make a comeback and be current…but right now it isn’t.

  • Anonymous

I agree but that is their problem, not Adam’s.  I personally strongly dislike the “if he did rock, he’d broaden his audience”  argument, because that is the opposite of what being an artist is.  Plus, it’s not even true, since vice versa, the pop fans (including me) would be so disappointed.

I think those older fans from Idol need to understand that what he did on Idol was a “play the game” exercise which worked and then it was over.  I got to know Adam afterwards because of HIS OWN MUSIC.  I wouldn’t have him any other way.

I don’t like how some fans want to mould him into their own ideology.  It should ( and hopefully is ) the contrary.  There’s always the possibility of stopping to buy/follow his music.  I’m sure another person would listen to his new song and say I like this song!  That’s ultimately what he needs to do to stay relevant and not become another Idol has been.  I have high hopes he’ll do so with his new album/singles because I firmly believe Adam knows all this.  It’s why I also love him so much.

That’s because TOO many Americans erroneously believe the earth revolves around them & that ANYTHING great or important begins and ends at the borders of the USA. DING! WRONG

Sorry but the EUROPEAN music award winners were completely dominated by American acts. The only non Americans to win awards were  Queen and a Korean Group. So yes, the commercial Pop scene does revolve mostly around American acts.  I mean are Gaga and Bieber two acts that no one in America has heard of. They both dominated the award show last night.

  • Anonymous

But Bieber and Gaga are INTERNATIONAL stars not American stars.  Carrie Underwood for example is a more American star.  And I’m sorry being European does not mean not appreciating American artists, but it doesn’t also mean that we have no separate identity.  Plus the EMAs per se were fan voted from around the world, including America so it’s not a surprise.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree with your entire post.  Ultimately, musicians should produce the kind of music that they want, and find an audience based on that.  I’m not defending the fans from Idol who had different expectations/hopes for Adam’s debut album, just trying to figure out why they were disappointed.

  • Anonymous

I think that Adam is the type of artist who will explore a different type of sound on each album, unlike the traditional rock group that keeps developing its sound in the same direction. It seems like album #2 will sound quite different from album #1, and I wouldn’t be surprised if album #3 sounds quite different from album #2. So somewhere along the line he may do an album more directly inspired by classic rock, but I expect most of his albums will be pop (assuming he’s successful enough to continue making albums).  Pop music isn’t defined by Top 40; there’s a lot of great pop music out there that sounds nothing like Katy Perry, and a lot of interesting directions you can go in as a pop singer.

  • http://twitter.com/sagajo saga

Yes, one does not have to exclude the other. I love pop-Adam but I also really like that his live sound is more rockish. And he can always do sideprojects like this one with Queen, or his Acoustic EP or a musical. He is very versatile and I think he’ll keep on doing lots of different things so there will always be something for everyone.

  • Anonymous

Since the EMAs were based on votes around the world, that makes it even more surprising that Americans completely dominated the awards!  Since obviously most Americans only care about country artists. ;)

I don’t get why it’s so hard to admit that American music dominates the current pop scene.  When Korean Pop Bands take over I’ll be the first to admit it!

  • Anonymous

Finally got the chance to watch this.  Adam looked and sounded great.  He did Freddie Mercury proud.  Congrats to him and his fans.  How exciting!

  • iani

Exactly, many US stars sell like 1.5 mil. in US and 10 mil. world-wide, the bigger  world-wide sale number, the shinier well-known star.

ETA:And many US acts are more known and have a better carrier outside of US, one of the reason they are not dropped by their US labels support as many idols are from their contractual AI-style label support for not selling mil. of albums.

  • Anonymous

Who’s saying American music does not dominate current pop music?  I just dislike the whole THE US IS SUPERIOR NOTHING ELSE MATTERS meme.

  • http://twitter.com/RedRoseQueen1 Rose Haddix

Listen to Martel sing (on You Tube) opera. He does have a very good voice. But when you hear him singing a Queen song, he IS impersonating, using his “Freddie” voice.
Impersonation is NOT what Lambert does and NOT what Brian and Roger wanted for their EMA performance. They hand-picked the BEST male singer on the planet. Dr. May is no fool! ;D

  • Anonymous

Psst. Bieber is Canadian. I’m not necessarily proud of it, but there it is.

(I’m Canadian, in case anyone didn’t get that. :D)

  • http://twitter.com/sagajo saga

jpfan, I think what some posters have been trying to say is that many European countries have a strong native music scene but that one is often restricted to a few countries. The US artists have a part of the music scene in almost every European country and therefore when it comes to voting, they get people from every country voting for them, plus they have a larger international fanbase that can help. The performances were not as US centered (but still very, I agree) as the awards for example.

  • Tess

The AMAs has a viewership of apx. 14 million. EMAs has 1.2 BILLION. Now take your time and do the math..I’ll wait…………….

I think there may be something a bit off with these numbers.  True, based on Nielson ratings, the AMAs reached a US audience of 14 million…but the show was rebroadcast to countless international tvs at some point (and I’m not defending them since I’m not a fan of fan voted awards shows).  The 1.2 billion number from the EMAs is hardly the number that actual tuned in and watched.  This may be the # of TV sets in all the countries that the EMAs reached, but I think it would be a little difficult to say that every TV set was tuned into the program….but then all 20 kids from some family in some remote village in some 3rd world country could have easily swayed the numbers.

I am sure the EMAs have a great international audience…but as others have said, very little talent from countries in Europe (outside of GB) was represented.  I am sure US country acts probably sell as much to their listeners as most European artists sell to theirs.  International success is marvelous, but I bet there are really only a large handful of artists who are popular, everywhere…and it takes lots of time and money to propogate international interest.  Lots of Artists don’t think the outlay is worth the intake.  But I may be wrong.

  • http://twitter.com/sagajo saga

I’ve read 20-30M in actual viewers for the EMA’s in previous years.

Girlygirl: DDD – Digital Dream Door. A massive music forum on every genre under the sun, with dedicated discussion boards on all genres, and best-of lists for everything. When Adam was on Idol the DDD rock vocalists forum put Adam #2 on their list of technical best rock voices of all time. It is a hell of a list, as are the criteria. (Point of reference, I think Freddy Mercury is 3rd or 4th?). Please don’t misunderstand…this was not greatest live performer, or most impact, or most famous, or just best vocalist ever…but rather a measure of who had the most vocal skill, judging by breath control, range, power, head voice, chest voice….and a whole other host of things I do not understand. Each argument made has to be backed up by video proof, and debated and agreed upon amongst the posters. And these people knew what they were talking about.

Adam is still #2 on their list as far as I know, and I think THAT board is still fine. But they also have an Adam specific board, and that’s the one that has degenerated into mostly fan garbage. IMO of course, YMMV.

He might’ve been impersonating Mercury, but he was able to convey the message behind the lyrics- and his voice didn’t get strained out by the end of a song.

“I’m a fan of Adam’s, and I agree with everything that you wrote except that people are still entitled to their own opinions about any artist, no matter who endorses them.  Musical tastes are subjective, and although it was a great honor for Adam to be chosen to sing with Queen in this tribute (and a tribute to his talent) and I think that he did a phenomenal job, I acknowledge the right of each individual to have their own opinion about any artist that is valid to their own tastes.”
Oh, I agree and that’s why I said “for me” in my statement meaning it doesn’t bother “me” what people say about Adam fronting Queen because Queen asked him to sing and that’s all that matters “to me”.  Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

They are nuts over on the DDD forum.  The SC aren’t content just to praise Adam, they get angry at the other performers there who didn’t take to twitter to praise Adam’s performance.  It’s things like that which make people hate him.

Adam did a good job, it wasn’t amazing, there were no real stand-out moments for him, but he did adequate.  In no way did he come close to singing it as well as Freddie and a couple times, he seemed to be reaching for a moment that didn’t come off so great.

He was NOT impersonating Mercury. That was what was cool about the performance. He was doing his own thing, honoring Queen and Freddie, his personal heroes. Dude was almost kneeling in worship before May, then finished with “Queen…QUEEN!” as if he were in awe of what he was just allowed to do. Adam is a Queen fanboy extraordinaire.

DDD is a forum for those knowledgeable enough to judge a singer vocally. They’re merciless about judging their singers, including Adam, whom they rated the second most technically proficient rock singer of all time. I am horrified everytime a bsc Adam fan appears. It’s entirely against what they want to do. They’re not fanboys :/

  • Anonymous

Ronaldmascot, are you sure you are talking about DDD? I haven’t gone there recently (used to love to read the discussion), but it is definitely not a fan site.  Really, one OTT fan continued to be cringe-worthy. (and apparently he/she is still at it?)

Have to add, I thought Adam’s red carpet outfit was ridiculous (although, strangely fitting for the EMAs). But I loved his performance outfit—the jacket was perfect.

Jammasta I agree with you about his album. I love Muse & do wish Adam would have more sound like this but it is what it is & as many have pointed out Adam is going for an electro pop sound for his next album-mores the pity. The thing is – many that have praised Adam for his singing with Queen [who are not fans]may not give his electro pop album a second thought .Even if he has some songs on the album that are different-if the singles are electro pop they may not feel inspired to look out for any other songs.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

Can someone explain why some people are referring to the medley as a ‘tribute to Queen’? Wasn’t that Queen performing with Adam doing lead vocals?

  • Anonymous

Just had to pop in to listen to this again.  Seriously love “The Show Must Go On”

  • Anonymous

Adam has said that his next album is going to be have pop songs and dance songs like WWFM and IIHY. He also said there will be some singer-songwriter songs on the album. Adam also stated that his dance songs have a funk sound to them. He did not say this next album is going to be electro pop.

Adam MIGHT gain some fans if he did a rock album, but he would lose some pop fans. Why trade one group for the other? Radio play is the main way to gain single and album sales.
Adam wants to do pop music. He has said this since the time he was recording his first album. Should Adam record an album he doesn’t want to make, just so he can gain rock fans? Wouldn’t it be better to keep the pop fans all over the world he already has and work on adding to that fanbase?

I’m hoping Adam’s next album contains a variety of songs, just like FYE did. Too many albums that have a cohesive sound are also full of songs that are hard to distinguish from one another. Adam is very versatile-he can sing all sorts of music, but I can always recognize the sound of his voice.

I don’t think he should do rock- no one writes good rock songs anymore and it would be what a label executive would think rock sounds like and the songs themselves would be mediocre.  Best to stick with pop- I enjoyed the last album.

Like a full on concert of at least 10/12 songs somewhere, sometime!  I would KILL for that!  But I know that Adam needs to keep his own individuality and brand established, and I fully appreciate that.  But maybe there will be another opportunity where Adam & Queen can sing “We will, we will ROCK YOU!”

The way I see it, Adam is a musical chameleon … he can ‘sang’ anything anytime, anyplace.  There is no musical genre that he can’t do.  Yes, of course, he will never do rap or hip-hop, but I betcha he is capable of it.

That said, Adam will continually keeps us on our toes and surprise us just like he does with his hairstyles.  Adam is ever-changing because he can’t stand ennui, and I get that completely.

We will be thrilled with his presence, his talents and his vocal range as long as we are fans.  We will never, ever be bored by Adam F Lambert!  Ever!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ACMLXLYSSX73RNYQOUZWSO2I4U Enough already!

My sentiments exactly, had to pop in for another listen to TSMGO.   It was epic, as were the two more known songs.

  • AdamsGirl

It seemed at one point to me that Adam was having a bit of difficulty.  Watching as many vids as I have, when Adam taps his ear piece, puts his arm out to the band and then turns around toward them slightly, there’s usually some kind of problem that he’s alerting them to.  I think it was during We Will Rock You that I noticed this.  It was very subtle but, again, knowing how Adam communicates with the band, I did pick up on it.

    Did anyone else?

There’s quite a good amount of good rock being written, IMO. It doesn’t sound like 40 years ago but it’s still out there, one just needs to take an interest a little.

Which doesn’t mean that Adam should go rock, of course, if it’s not where his heart lies.

  • AdamsGirl

I agree with you … Adam LIVE cannot be equalled, surpassed or duplicated.  He turns up his jets because his energy level is so connective to the audience.  Think about what the Infinity symbol means to him … energy being passed back and forth between himself and the audience.  And it fuels him to great heights, as it does most performers.

I have always preferred live performances over studio versions from all of my favorite artists … there’s just something about ‘being live, baby.”

  • Anonymous

He’s not selling out. He’s listening to pop songs and he always wants to make pop album. The ones who wants him to sing rock or make rock album are some of AI audience, media and Randy Jackson (LOL), just because he sang a few (3) rock songs while he was on AI. HOWEVER, his live perfomances (GNT) feelt like rock concerts.

  • AdamsGirl

Adam ‘initially’ said the new album would reflect WWFM and IIHY, but I think he did a 180 somewhere midstream and is now going in a more funkalicious direction based on who he’s now working with: Rico Love, Bennie Blanco, Pharrell, Nile Rodgers and other names I can’t remember.  Before it was Sia, Nikka Costa, Tedder … he may be infusing both types into this album, but methinks Adam had a change of musical heart at some point.

  • BeckyMD

Just got a chance to watch the performance. WOW it’s great! Different from Freddie of course but still great by its own merit.

Thank MJ for putting up this together.

Hi Tess. The EMAs were broadcast to MANY countries the world over. I had read that last year, they were watched by 1.2 billion. That may have included internet viewers, I don’t know, tbh. That’s what was pretty much expected this year as well.
While the USA & UK heavily dominated the awards…viwers from many different countries tuned in to catch their faves. For whatever reason, English-speaking acts seem to catch on in foreign countries easier than non-English-speaking acts catch on in primarily English-speaking ones.
Perhaps that’s because English is the International maritime language and many countries teach it as a second language in schools. Even Asia tuned in, not just Europe.Look at the International success of Elvis (despite NEVER touring outside the US!) Michael Jackson, Madonna and now Beiber, Gaga, Rhianna etc…The world is becoming smaller, thanks to technology.
And of course, you are on to something RE: More than one person per household watching. Two of us were watching from our house. No kids at home or I’m sure they would have watched as well. ;D

  • Miss Chaos

I still am just so thrilled Adam got to do this, he is on the big stage where he belongs!  He could fill up stadiums and he is a spectacle on stage, there should be no more meat packing plants for him, and dancers are fine but he is much better on his own, playing it by ear.  I hope he stays doing more performances like this, the world deserves eye-popping concerts from this hugely talented star.  Thanks AI for letting us know Adam F. Lambert!!!!!!!

Had to had a comment so it wouldn’t be 666 anymore. Adam was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Sparkle Cows” – what Lambert-haters called Adam’s fans – particularly the older ones.  Haven’t seen it in a long time as it’s obvious Adam’s fans are age-wise across the board.

  • Anonymous

With those dilemas you mentioned, so it’s a GREAT think then that Adam doesn’t make rock album. He doesn’t like Nickelback kind of rock and he said there’s a reason why they call great rock songs, Clasic Rock, means they dont make them anymore. Unless if the great Brian May would like to write a song for Adam. ;D

  • http://twitter.com/BrianC82 BrianC82

Those lists on the DDD forum are a real hoot. They’ve got Axl Rose ranked higher than the likes of Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley. Hilarious stuff. The ONLY ranking I agree with is Jackie Wilson at #1, and Adam isn’t even in the same universe as him.

  • Anonymous

have no idea.. the boys at DDD think his vocal and performance were great and they’re not Adam fans, I believe they’re professional singers and musician.

  • http://twitter.com/TheLambertLuvva TheLambert Luvva

It’s lucky a lot of people disagree, especially Brian and Roger. :)

  • Anonymous

yep.. people who said Adam’s selling out needs to listen to his songs he wrote before AI;  Oh My Ra or Pop Goes the Camera, very electro pop

  • Anonymous

Ah, the fabled abattoir in Texas – remember the reactions of the crew when they saw that place.  Think Adam was tippling more than usual during that performance – and, insane venue that it was, Adam gave his all.  Think lowest attendance of the GNT – well, it was West Texas -I lived there for almost three years back in the day.
And, yes – Adam on the big stage – like Barry Weiss? said – an arena artist – platinum – extremely charismatic – problem is how do you bottle that and put it in an album.  (Still somewhat of a problem I would think.)

  • Anonymous

Well, DDD obviously thinks he is – lol.

  • ituneit

Strolling through the various threads at MJ’s. Wow this one has a ton of comments. I see Adam got a ton of positive press today on his vocals.

Well people were saying BSC, I didn’t know what the B means, but I thought SC meant Sparkle Cow, unless it meant something else.  What does BSC mean?

  • http://twitter.com/RedRoseQueen1 Rose Haddix

BSC=Bat S**T Crazy, lol! That’s what it means.
And re:”Sparkle Cows”, it is not an endearment. It’s clearly ageist and sexist.
But yes, older females were, by and large, the FIRST on board with Adam. Now his fanbase is much more diverse. Thank goodness! :D

That list looks like a technical skills list only.  Axl is very skilled on a technical level and I can see him scoring high by their criteria.  I did see a list of Greatest Male Rock Vocalists there that you might like better (skill is less important):

Adam is an artist and as such, he needs to follow his own artistic vision that makes him happy. IMO saying what kind of music Adam should make is like telling a painter what kind of pieces they should be happy painting.  But artists also need to have an audience, and that’s where the balancing act between artistic vision and audience appeal comes in.

Adam’s just-published interview in OUT magazine speaks directly to Adam’s vision for his music, the kind of music he wants to create, and the kinds of audiences he wants to reach:

I can tell you that one of the first people I worked with on the album that was a physical turning point was Pharrell Williams. (In what way?) …After my session with Pharrell, I started working with some other writers and going in that direction. Going along with the trend of dance music was something I really wanted to go with on the album. I love my fans, and I want to give my fans the songs that they really eat up, but I also want to expand my audience if I can. And I want to make some music for my gay brothers and sisters. You know what I mean? I want to make the kind of music I would listen to if I were out in a club. (Which is what kind of music?) Dance music! My challenge was, how do I make dance music authentic to what I’m capable of vocally and what I do. That’s when I started getting into the funk arena. I mean, it’s still electronic, but it’s funky and it has a swing, and I was listening to a lot of Michael Jackson and Prince and we just started going in that direction.

    http://www.out.com/features/2011/11/Adam-Lambert-Revisited/index.asp?page=2&id=32382

Seems pretty clear to me that Adam loves pop/dance music and that’s the kind of music he wants to make, and the kind of audience he wants to reach. Also sounds like his vision for his sound evolved somewhat over the course of creating the album.

I have been listening over and over to the youtube link of this amazing performance.   Now it is gone due to copyright infringement?  WTF?  Why do they care since they don’t sell it?

Does anyone have an mp3 link?  I am so sad :(

I like Adam doing rock for his encours.  I don’t think he should pursue rock as a genre at all. I think he would always be compared to someone else if he went rock.  He can establish his own thing as pop artist.  I was thrilled that he has changed musical directions in this album. His current collab list are lot more contemporary and possible radio friendly.   I wasn’t too excited at alll when he was doing stuff with Sia or when I heard Outlaws of love.  OOL was so much like some of the material on FYE and he should grow beyond that freshman album.  But still that queen performance. I am sure it reminded many people of Adam’s potential. He just needs that right material.

I can’t view the video anymore. It was removed.  MTV Canada did not show ‘The Show must go on’.

    OH MY GOD.

0% of Adam Lambert’s fans without DVR or recordings can watch 100% of this video’s awesomeness. OCCUPY VIACOM.

DAMN YOU YOUTUBE VIACOM WHOEVER. I was just about to share the epicness to my mom. I was all, “Hey mom I have a video to show you!” She’s all “:D” then I have to tell her “They took it down.” And I’m pretty sure she’s all crying and stuff inside. I would be.

  • Anonymous

No kidding. I’m not the biggest fan of FYE (know it enough to sing along at least), but loved Adam enough to go to his concert. Adam sounds way better live. I only wish I could’ve seen him perform Broken Open live, but it’s understandable as many people probably would’ve fallen asleep to Adam Lambert’s awesome sultry lullaby sounding song COMPLETE WITH AMAZING LIGHTING.

And I’m still in the minority hoping he’ll do a little more rock, I guess. His FYE rock songs were for the most part too electro-influenced for me to think of as rock songs. Not that they’re bad, I just prefer Adam’s rock side over his pop side. Different strokes for different folks.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Sorry, but I don’t want to ever be regarded as a “Glambert”.  IMO, there are too many negative connotations that come with that label.  I’m just a fan, and a pretty casual one at that.  I intensely dislike rabid, BSC fans of any artist.

  • Fullmoon

    Another nice review:

Adam Lambert deserves a lot more than he has achieved so far. On the other hand, the rest of the MTV VMA Europe event was full of -mostly- overrated pop stars set to disappear within three or four years. Freddie Mercury himself would be proud of Adam Lambert, and Rock and Roll fans are expecting to hear great new music from him some time later.

Bless you for the link to the vid, Smegginuts. I have friends who are fans…some of Queen, some of Adam… and the video I sent them last night got pulled. They are most grateful for the new video… as long as it lasts.  I know MTV has part of the performance posted at their site, but everyone (I’m referring to my friends not a collective “everyone”) wanted to see the entire performance.  Hey MTV! I want my Adam/Queen!

That TSMGO MP3 is utterly fabulous – the audio is extremely good.  Listening to it without the distraction of the video – incredible performance.

You are so right, the audio is fantastic. I could listen to that all day, his vocals are so crystal clear and his voice simply soars on this song. I hope one day I will get the opporunity to hear Adam sing TSMGO in concert.

I don’t think I saw anyone post this? Here is a slightly blurry pic of Adam signing for fans in his blue suit but with a black tee. I didn’t realize what a gorgeous color that suit was, LOL I think I was too distracted by the shoes.

Sorry guys, can someone fill me in on what “DDD” and “BSC Glambert” are?

  • Anonymous

okay.. I have to ask, what’s SC?

  • Anonymous

DDD (think Digital Dream Door) is a website where they discuss music in technical terms.  BSC is “batshitcrazy” – term for over-the-top fans.

  • Anonymous

SC – “Sparkle Cow” – nasty term for older Adam fans.

Anyone read Adam’s tweets about the new delay in the single?  Opinions?

  • Anonymous

Seems like the lawsuit is causing the delay of his new single indefinitely. Not good.  That slimy scumbag Welsford! Just ugh.

  • Anonymous

Why would that lawsuit delay his single?  Don’t see the connection.  Timing issues?

Okay guys.. if you have MTV-U (don’t ask me what that means), it’s channel 212 in my FIOS… but anyway, they’re doing the re-run of the show from Nov 8-13. That if you want to watch him on your TV, not sure of the timing

MJ has a new thread up for this. Apparently the lawsuit claims he’s still contractually obligated to them, so why would he and his people put out new music until the case is resolved?  That’s my best guess. :(

Not true, Axxxel – must just be your imagination! I watched the livestream, so there was no editing possible. After The Show Must Go On, they played just a few bars of Under Pressure and then immediately switched to We Will Rock You. It was just a transition or a tease. No actual song.

What a fab performance Adam with Queen!  I keep watching it.  IMO I hope Adam gets to sing with Queen at the Olympics.  Adam is a perfect frontman for Queen.  Not crazy about the electro-pop Adam has chosen to do but I love it when he sings classic rock.  His voice is stellar.

  • http://twitter.com/moni0112 Monica

Can´t stop listening Adam/Queen medley, specially The Show must Go On!!!
    It´s PERFECT =)

  • sdmama

Oh my gosh, Olympics! That would be purrrfect. Better than Superbowl in my book.   But this gig was a nothing short of a miracle, unexpected gift, so I feel too greedy to ask for an encore.  If anybody grants me a wish, I wish that this law suit thrown away quickly by court, so that he will be free to release whatever he pleases. And, sure, electro/techno pop, if he must.

  • Anonymous

No, according to a YouTuber who posted his own vid of the performance.  I asked and he replied.

  • Anonymous

The Olympics would be great. But I’m pretty happy that Adam sang with Queen. I have listened again to his singing with Queen without the video and is it ever good!  This was such a great opportunity for him. A nice feather in his cap.  I also listened to the original We are the Champions. It is interesting how the song has changed a bit over the years. The original song does not have the last power note of world.  I like both maybe Adam’s version a teeny bit better. But I have always enjoyed Queen.
